    Beef so dried out

I've been here 3 times and the meat is ALWAYS so hard a dried out. the chicken, beef, everything. need to do better at cooking the meat

This place is out of this world! I had never tried traditional African food before but I really wanted to so I asked my friend who was born in Ghana where I should go and let me tell you, he steered me right! I enjoyed every bit of it. The Fufu was delicious, I got the egusi stew with goat. Solid choice although I think I might go with a different meat next time (or no meat since I'm trying to go vegetarian ugh), the Soyu was very spicy and tasty and of course you can't go wrong with fried plantains! I am an adventurous eater but I was a little worried fufu might be too much for even me but nope! It was wonderful! My only recommendation is that you take some stomach meds before hand if you have a western palate because I was burnt up with the spices. 10/10 would do it again.

I really love this place honestly. I always order to go- I stay 15mins away so I call and place my order while en route and it's always ready for me by the time I arrive! I LOVE the prices here and I'm glad they offer a side of red stew with no meat in it for when I want to eat meatless meals, or even just want to add more sauce to my stew WITH meat. The jollof rice is a winner I love getting a side of it I can eat it for lunch and dinner the portion is optimal! The suya is good as well and obviously very popular because they've run out the past few weeks I tried to order! I had a craving phase and ate here like everyday for 5 days in a row Lolol! Highly recommend this place ! Very affordable and delicious!

Ordered from ubereats. Packaging was sufficient. Enjoyed most of the food but the side of goat was overcooked. The goat included in the egusi was good. Jollof was delicious.

So this was only my second time trying African food. I had some jollof rice and chicken years ago in college from another restaurant. I decided to surprise my Nigerian boyfriend with some of the dishes he grew up eating for his birthday. So, this review will also include his opinion since he's more familiar with the food than me. To start, the service was amazing. I called to place my order in advance and the guy informed me that the meat pies were just being prepared and needed about 40mins. I agreed to the wait because I really wanted to try them. When I arrived, unfortunately they were not done. I told him how this was my first time at the restaurant and he gave me the one that was ready, for free to try! That was so nice. The inside of the restaurant seems more like a place you would go for take out and not dine in. I'm not sure if that's due to COVID or it normally appears that way. However, everything looked and smelled clean. I was honestly surprised at how much food we got for such a good price! Two large platters of food cost about $25 and to be honest we could've shared one platter and still had leftovers! I ordered the rice plate with jollof, fish, and plaintain. I also order mashed beans, plantain and meat for my boyfriend. I thought the food was well seasoned and delicious. My boyfriend also agreed. He compared the food to his mom's cooking, which is definitely a compliment and makes me believe it is authentic. We will definitely be back for more delicious African food from Kemi's!

Egusi, beef tripe, beef, and pounded yam
    W O.

I have to be completely honest here, I ordered Egusi with beef, beef tripe, and pounded yam. The tripe and beef were tough as shoe leather. If your teeth aren't strong, you are in trouble. They cooked with too much palm oil because it made the soup slightly runny, I've eaten this soup many times at other restaurants. I could honestly say their was no "love" put into preparing this dish. Again, the beef and tripe were so tough. I gave 2 stars for the pounded yam. Time and love were spent preparing the yam it was delicious. The cashier was very nice, but there was another older gentleman storing food for a delivery (I guess) he never acknowledged me. He could have at least said, "Someone will be with you shortly." I forgot to mention he and I were the only 2 standing there. The ambiance of the dining area wasn't so bad it was a bit warm in there, but if I had to guess the temperature, I would easily say 75 degrees. Many Blessing Kemi

Well this was the first time trying this place out. The menu wasn't very big so it didn't take long to pick something out . I ordered a meal with beans and fried plantains..We also ordered meat pies and rice with chicken. The chicken was good but the rice was undercooked and the plantains were so soggy they turned to mush when I tried to eat them . The beans tasted like beans from an Uncle Bens plastic bag thankfully the meat pies were decent and helped fill us up . I ordered beef to add to my beans that was roast beef but a small piece so didn't go far . Well probably skip this place from now on unless someone else really wants it. I wish the plantains weren't sooooo soggy because they had a decent flavor.

The food was REALLY tasty and my departed uncle would have loved it: sliders (brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken), green chili mac & cheese, loaded potato salad, jalapeño poppers, peach cobbler, banana pudding, and soft drinks. I had to find catering in a hurry, and it was extremely easy to work out a plan with Jonathan. One of his practices is to get the caterers to the venue WELL in advance (2 hours), and this was confirmed to be a good idea because somehow the catering team was given the wrong address and had to scurry to get to us and set up in time. The serving team was great, though, and everything turned out OK. These things happen, in my view. The only criticism I have is that the food was served in small pasteboard baskets rather than on plates. This had the unfortunate effect of making it look as though we were trying to keep the guests from eating much, and it seemed better suited to more casual outdoor events, perhaps ones where people are standing and milling. If offered a choice in advance, I would definitely have picked plates. One more thing to consider: we had a ton of leftovers and no easy way to take them home (except a few bits in those baskets). I hated to waste the food but just couldn't manage a plan at the last minute. Not the caterers' responsibility, of course, but you will want the leftovers!

Since we had just gotten our kitchen remodeled, I thought it would be a great birthday idea to christen it with the perfect meal. Enter.. Chef Aundre of Heavenly Catering. I wanted someone who would be: 1 -fun 2 -interactive 3 -prepare a good meal 4 -understood my vision, and 5 -could work with young kids (since this would be a family affair). Chef Aundre hit on ALL of those. I reached out to him and 3 other in-home chefs through Yelp after reading their reviews. Chef Aundre was the only one that seemed to really get what I was trying to do. He had me complete a brief survey and then proposed a menu that was different from our usual, but still simple enough that we could make it any day. He arrived promptly and well-prepared. He brought all of the ingredients and made sure they were quality, natural and organic. He walked us through our menu and coached us along the way - showing us cutting techniques, cooking techniques and even plate presentation tips and tricks. At the end of the meal he engaged our 3 littles (ages 3, 6 and 8) to cook dessert. I was so impressed with how well he managed them and engaged with them. They made the perfect dessert with no spills or breaking anything! I will definitely use his services again and highly recommend him for your catering or in-home cooking needs.

Fruit was fresh! The mashed potatoes were a huge hit - creamy and delicious. (This review is making me hungry.) Our guests raved about the entire meal, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Ready for a food adventure? Cause I've got one for you…read more So I've been hearing about this place from a fellow co-worker and it sounded so crazy I had to go check it out. Ok, before I go further with the review let me give you two facts you will need to make your decision about this place. First, this fine restaurant is located in a old business park off the beaten path (and I mean beaten). I thought I was on some wild goose chase (or looking for the elusive Snipe) when trying to find this place. I'll try to make it easier for you to find, when you enter the business park, it's the first building on the right (go all the way to the end). (P.S. look at the satellite mode on the map - I put the marker right on top of it) And, keep in mind that this is a caterer first and a cafe second. You are going to get plastic ware, and the server (though polite and helpful) is probably one of the staff stuck with doing that duty for the day. So you may have to get their attention from the kitchen, and you might not see your server for long periods of time - the server I had kept retreating to the back. Now that's out of the way, let me explain the food. Fantastic!! This was top-notch fine catered like food from a distinguished chef's menu (and apparently award winning considering all the trophies). No wonder so many cops and medical professionals stop in here. I had the Special which was the Pesto Chicken (see pic) with Orzo and Asparagus (which came with the choice of soup or salad - I chose the Caesar Salad). Everything was cooked perfectly and even though I hate sun-dried tomatoes -from past experiences- I really enjoyed eating theirs. And the cookie...... oh my... just look at the pic. Yes, it's as delicious as it looks (I need to see if I can order those by the dozen). But why 5 stars if I just got great food and ok service? The wall of thank you letters. Besides catering for local city functions and weddings, they also cater to a ton of non-profit organizations and local schools. And that's why they get 5 stars from me (I can deal with mediocre service). So if you are able to make the hours (they are only open Mon - Fri 11 AM to 2 PM) then I couldn't recommend this place enough and I will surely be back there for more myself.
