Star India has been in business for 25 years. We have been going there for about 17 years of that time. The 3.9 star Yelp average is too low for this business and is likely due to the petty complaints of entitled customers. We have had Indian food everywhere both in the USA and internationally except for India itself. We have also eaten homemade Indian food made by immigrants. In light of this experience, SI food is in the top 2 Indian food restaurants we have ever eaten at. On our visit on a Sat night around 6:00, they were moderately crowed with low to average noise level. The shared lot gets full but you can find parking further away in the lot. There are several other good restaurants in their strip mall. Sadly, the BUFFET is ONLY offered on WEEKENDS now. However, neither the items, quality, nor price has changed much recently. They have their take on the traditional and common Indian buffet items: chicken Marsala, vindaloo, paneer, etc. Consequently, the buffet pics I posted years ago are still accurate. This is a family owned business. The wife is hostess, waitress, and cashier. The husband makes the naan fresh while you eat and you can watch him through a window. It is a little thicker and fluffier than some other places and has less "toppings" (garlic etc.), but tastes great. The soup in the buffet changes periodically. We definitely recommend giving these guys a try. The buffet is a great value if you eat a lot or if you want to try their menu items to see which you like. The regular menu is great if you want takeout or know which items you like already. read more

Wow. Stopped in today to check it out and... Not good. Really basic flavors, very few choices, seemed reheated. 18 dollars down the drain. However, the fresh naan was very nice. read more

Highly recommended! The owners are wonderful and the food is amazing! Their naan is the best of any Indian restaurant we've been to so far (and we've been to a lot) and I LOVE the butter chicken. This is our favorite go to spot for when we want to eat out! read more

It's a calm small owner restaurant. On the weekend they have Buffet style menu. And during the week my favorite thing to order it's butter chicken, with naan freshly made. read more

I went in kind of late in the evening by myself after work, I haven't had a good Indian buffet in a while and was unsure what to expect as my first time here. Completely exceeded my expectations, everything I tried was good. I can really appreciate a small simple buffet where the focus is clearly just making really good food. I'll be back again read more

The buffet was fresh and delicious. Service was wonderful, will be going back. It is a nice friendly space and exceptionally clean.

I was hesitant to order on Uber eats because I always have such bad experiences but it's the day before Christmas & i'm feeling adventurous. Said that to say Star India was a pleasant surprise. I ordered curry lamb & butter chicken 9/10 Garlic naan & samosa 8/10 No complaints at all. I'll order again. read more

Star India - a bowl of food on a table - Indian Near Me - Arlington, Texas

If you are a UTA student I highly recommend this place. It is in a wonderful location. I came during the evening and they weren't that busy which is a shame because the food is delicious. My table ordered the chicken vindaloo and butter chicken. We also ordered naan and sambosa. The host was very kind and helpful in answering our questions. The chicken vindaloo is labeled as spicy but if you have a mid level spice tolerance it is do-able. The chicken is nice and tender and the potato just completes the meal. Overall I would give it a 9/10. The butter chicken was nice and creamy. If you are allergic to nuts I would ask before hand if it is cooked with cashews. I did taste a hint of nuttiness but I could be completely wrong. The butter chicken is a 8/10. We had garlic naan and I just wish it was a little bit more buttery and soft. I would give that a 6/10. They however do not offer that many options when it comes to soft drink options. read more

Grate food I ordered for the first time Indian food and been ordering sense that day 5 stars all the way thank you for making grate food

Didn't actually eat there but usually came to say that I drove there to find out the buffet is weekends only. Bummer!

Namaste. Hi There. I have been going to Star India in Arlington since 2009. The vegetarian food is simply amazing. Especially Palak Panneer and Baingan Barta. And Bhaisaheb makes the best Naan in Dallas. Have eaten in so many places, but BhaiSaheb's Naan is clearly the topmost favorite. Their Broccoli Curry and Vegetable Pakoras in the buffet are simply out of this world. Bhaisaheb and Bhabhi work really hard to serve awesome food. They also are wonderful conversationalists also. Hearty Congratulations on a great job, Bhabhi and Bhaisaheb Best wishes for continued success Masterji read more

Mmmmmm, so good! We ordered delivery from here recently and loved our meal. Everything came well packaged and wrapped up tight, with styrofoam containers wrapped in foil for extra protection! All our food was super hot and ready to eat. I kept it pretty simple with lentil soup and a Bombay Aloo (potatoes with onion, tomato, and curry). The soup was thinner than the lentil soups I'm used to, but it had a ton of flavor and was perfect since I wasn't super hungry. The Bombay Aloo had a nice heat without being spicy. Who doesn't love seasoned potatoes? This is comfort food! Jon ordered chicken curry and I had a few bites -- the curry broth was amazing. And of course he had plenty of beautiful naan to eat it with. We also each received a ton of seasoned basmati rice with our entrees, which was extremely fragrant and delicious. Can't wait to eat leftovers! read more

The food was amazing. I ordered chicken curry and it was just how I expected it- it was spicy and delicious. The service was also great. We weren't rushed at all, and the food came at a reasonable time. The waitress was very kind. The interior is very welcoming, and the bathrooms are also clean. I just think that it needs a bit more decor or presentation on the outside. I was a bit reluctant entering, but it turned out to be great. Overall, it was a really nice experience, with great food and service. read more

I used to have lunch here 13 years ago when I lived in the area, and loved their food. I visited them last night for dinner, and wow, they have never changed. For $11.99, you can't beat 'em! Food was hot and fresh. The chicken Tikka masala and tandoori chicken was incredible, as was the vegetable Pakora. The Naan bread is made to order and was incredible light and soft. Make sure to save room for their incredible rice pudding and Gulab Jamun, the pastry balls in honey syrup. The only thing to worry about is the parking there, it's a little tight. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for years it is my go to for delicious Indian food in Arlington.

Wonderful!! Ordered the Channa Masala and I was a little skeptical at the appearance at first, I am more accustomed to seeing more gravy.. but it did not disappoint!! Was honestly one of the best Channa Masalas that ive had. Incredible fresh Naan, chewy moist rice!! Everything packaged efficiently and nothing spilled. Included utensils too! 10/10! read more

Star India is a hidden gem in a plaza close to UTA. They offer a variety of selections on their menu. Vegetarian availabilities also included. This restaurant has been in business for decades and has the same great staff on hand. The meats are numerous with great sauces, and spice levels available. The appetizers and different Naan are great starters to an increasing and memorable India style cuisine. The curry lamb, chicken Tikka Makhni are superb and very flavorful. Try the chai tea as a finisher. Janeep is a great waitress with an unlimited amount of Indian cuisine. You will not be dissapointed. read more

The food was great and the service was good. The price climbed a little higher than I thought it should've been.

I would like to thank Mr. Wilson for sending me to this location they have excellent vegetable option on the menu. The atmosphere inside is very casual and it offers a buffet at an affordable price. The parking is kind of tight so that's the only issue you will have to deal with everything else is pretty standard for an establishment of this size. read more

Some of the best Indian food in Arlington. I got the butter chicken, regular/garlic naan, and the samosas. Omg they were all to die for. I wish the portions were a little bigger because I'm greedy and the food is so good. I've had them through door dash and in restaurant and both times i was not disappointed. The take out was packaged perfectly where nothing spilled. Owners are very nice and personal. I can't wait to try the buffet. read more

I be used to eat here about twice a week for quite awhile. This place was my first introduction to Indian food. I worked late with a bit and treated myself here. I was generally happy for a year or so. Then one night I became violently ill after eating. I probably haven't been back in about 5 years. My wife forgot to pick up dinner in here way home today, so we thought we'd try something close. A daughter voted for Indian, so we placed an order for pickup. The daughter made the run to go pick it up. I had missed lunch today, so I was hungry. As we looked through the order, it was quickly obvious food was missing. I called the restaurant and they realized they hadn't carefully seen the entire order and said they would request a refund for the missing items from Door Dash. Unfortunately for every to go order I place after this, that means I tipped them to get my order wrong. Thanks to Star India, I will only tip for previous orders placed from any restaurant in the future. read more

Their hours were different online. They need to update hours so we don't waste our time and gas. Driving all the way there and when we entered no one was inside at the front to greet us or they should have locked their doors. read more

Waitress was really nice. Food was soooooo good, best Indian food in Arlington. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala though it was called Chicken Tikka Makhni and it was so flavorful and filling. If you love homemade kofta, creamy korma and perfect paneer, step inside this hidden India. Tucked away in what can only be called a corner of Asia, a strip of Chinese, Thai and Japanese restaurants- The Star of India holds the flag of deliciousness high. Yes, the Bollywood TV shows on the big screen may put some off, but the cheery yellow walls, steamy chai and fantastic service make you forget all that. We ate at the nightly buffet which had ample veg and meat dishes. For 10.00, it was a deal! read more

Restaurant was located in a strip mall. Not much ambiance. TV playing Indian music videos. Would have been better showing World Cup videos. But the videos are pretty standard for Indian restaurants. I was the only customer dining in. Ordered the basic beef curry at med hot spicy level. Curry was tasty and beef was cooked about medium in 1" chunks. Beef was mostly tender but just a little dry. Tasty nonetheless. I also ordered the plain nana which was perfectly toasted but fairly neutral in taste. It tasted great when wiping the curry. Service was adequate and water was refilled twice without asking. Overall a good experoence and I was surprised that during the lunch hour more people were not eating at the restaurant. If you like Indian food this is a good, solid choice. read more
