Star India has been in business for 25 years. We have been going there for about 17 years of that time. The 3.9 star Yelp average is too low for this business and is likely due to the petty complaints of entitled customers. We have had Indian food everywhere both in the USA and internationally except for India itself. We have also eaten homemade Indian food made by immigrants. In light of this experience, SI food is in the top 2 Indian food restaurants we have ever eaten at. On our visit on a Sat night around 6:00, they were moderately crowed with low to average noise level. The shared lot gets full but you can find parking further away in the lot. There are several other good restaurants in their strip mall. Sadly, the BUFFET is ONLY offered on WEEKENDS now. However, neither the items, quality, nor price has changed much recently. They have their take on the traditional and common Indian buffet items: chicken Marsala, vindaloo, paneer, etc. Consequently, the buffet pics I posted years ago are still accurate. This is a family owned business. The wife is hostess, waitress, and cashier. The husband makes the naan fresh while you eat and you can watch him through a window. It is a little thicker and fluffier than some other places and has less "toppings" (garlic etc.), but tastes great. The soup in the buffet changes periodically. We definitely recommend giving these guys a try. The buffet is a great value if you eat a lot or if you want to try their menu items to see which you like. And Bhaisaheb makes the best Naan in Dallas. Have eaten in so many places, but BhaiSaheb's Naan is clearly the topmost favorite. Mmmmmm, so good! We ordered delivery from here recently and loved our meal. Everything came well packaged and wrapped up tight, with styrofoam containers wrapped in foil for extra protection! All our food was super hot and ready to eat. I kept it pretty simple with lentil soup and a Bombay Aloo (potatoes with onion, tomato, and curry). The soup was thinner than the lentil soups I'm used to, but it had a ton of flavor and was perfect since I wasn't super hungry. The Bombay Aloo had a nice heat without being spicy. Who doesn't love seasoned potatoes? This is comfort food! Jon ordered chicken curry and I had a few bites -- the curry broth was amazing. And of course he had plenty of beautiful naan to eat it with. We weren't rushed at all, and the food came at a reasonable time. The waitress was very kind. The interior is very welcoming, and the bathrooms are also clean. I used to have lunch here 13 years ago when I lived in the area, and loved their food. I visited them last night for dinner, and wow, they have never changed. For $11.99, you can't beat 'em! Food was hot and fresh. The chicken Tikka masala and tandoori chicken was incredible, as was the vegetable Pakora. The Naan bread is made to order and was incredible light and soft. Make sure to save room for their incredible rice pudding and Gulab Jamun, the pastry balls in honey syrup. The only thing to worry about is the parking there, it's a little tight. read more

Star India is a hidden gem in a plaza close to UTA. They offer a variety of selections on their menu. Vegetarian availabilities also included. This restaurant has been in business for decades and has the same great staff on hand. The meats are numerous with great sauces, and spice levels available. The appetizers and different Naan are great starters to an increasing and memorable India style cuisine. The curry lamb, chicken Tikka Makhni are superb and very flavorful. If you are a UTA student I highly recommend this place. It is in a wonderful location. I came during the evening and they weren't that busy which is a shame because the food is delicious. My table ordered the chicken vindaloo and butter chicken. We also ordered naan and sambosa. The host was very kind and helpful in answering our questions. The chicken vindaloo is labeled as spicy but if you have a mid level spice tolerance it is do-able. The chicken is nice and tender and the potato just completes the meal. Overall I would give it a 9/10. The butter chicken was nice and creamy. If you are allergic to nuts I would ask before hand if it is cooked with cashews. I did taste a hint of nuttiness but I could be completely wrong. The butter chicken is a 8/10. We had garlic naan and I just wish it was a little bit more buttery and soft. I would give that a 6/10. They however do not offer that many options when it comes to soft drink options. read more

I wish the portions were a little bigger because I'm greedy and the food is so good. I've had them through door dash and in restaurant and both times i was not disappointed. I be used to eat here about twice a week for quite awhile. This place was my first introduction to Indian food. I worked late with a bit and treated myself here. I was generally happy for a year or so. Then one night I became violently ill after eating. I probably haven't been back in about 5 years. My wife forgot to pick up dinner in here way home today, so we thought we'd try something close. A daughter voted for Indian, so we placed an order for pickup. The daughter made the run to go pick it up. I had missed lunch today, so I was hungry. As we looked through the order, it was quickly obvious food was missing. I called the restaurant and they realized they hadn't carefully seen the entire order and said they would request a refund for the missing items from Door Dash. Unfortunately for every to go order I place after this, that means I tipped them to get my order wrong. Restaurant was located in a strip mall. Not much ambiance. TV playing Indian music videos. Would have been better showing World Cup videos. But the videos are pretty standard for Indian restaurants. I was the only customer dining in. Ordered the basic beef curry at med hot spicy level. Curry was tasty and beef was cooked about medium in 1" chunks. Beef was mostly tender but just a little dry. Tasty nonetheless. I also ordered the plain nana which was perfectly toasted but fairly neutral in taste. It tasted great when wiping the curry. Service was adequate and water was refilled twice without asking. Overall a good experoence and I was surprised that during the lunch hour more people were not eating at the restaurant. The smell of the buffet was very nice, but if you get too close to the register there is a very strong sewage smell that wafts over you. Please handle that smell issue, no one wants to smell that near their food, especially when the food itself smells so good! All of the food was average quality, nothing to write home about. But the service was great! Our water was constantly refilled, and we were checked out promptly. And I loved the funky art on the walls, you can tell someone there is an art aficionado. And there were plenty of people dining at the same time as us which is always a good sign. But for me personally, I will either go to Desi Kitchen or Tandoor over on Fielder in the future. read more
