I can't believe I've been missing out on this gem! I stopped by on a weekday for the first time. They have a weekly special and I tried the chicken sandwich. I made it a combo with chips and lemonade. When I tell you it was so delicious! I was skeptical at first but I sat down and ate the entire thing! Also the lemonade was refreshing, not super sweet which made it even better. It's a small shop but has its own unique style. They have a candy bar, prepped meals, and pastries to choose from. Their food is made from scratch. I loved the fresh guacamole. The employee at the counter was telling us about the company, and all the food. The service was great! I absolutely love this place! The tamales are wonderful and Taco Tuesday takes the cake. speaking of cake, you gotta go in for the brownie and the apple cake (yes apple CAKE) it's delish. I got the chipotle chicken sandwich on the daily meal with chips and a mango lemonade. It was pretty good. Better than expected. This is the cutest little store. I've passed it a few times but never stopped. Today I made a special trip because my son mentioned wanting some tamales. They have a variety of items available to take home and heat up. They also had a very nice speciality drink menu, I don't get anything but I will next time. There's also a small selection of desserts for purchase. Today I purchased the cheese tamales, black bean tamales and a bag of their chips. I'm so glad I stopped in because both items are very good. I grabbed a menu because they have lunch specials from 11-3. They also have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. Which can be hard to find on this side of town. read more

This place is quickly becoming my favorite! Like many I found their tamales at the farmer's market and when I found out their shop was only 20 minutes from my apartment I had to check it out. As a gluten free girly I'm so grateful to have so many options of food I can eat safely! All of their hot lunches are so delicious and perfectly balanced. My absolute favorite treat on a hard work day. The first time I came here I missed hot lunch but they heated up one of their ready to go meals for me and it was perfect. Fantastic bodega. Extremely cute. Went on a Friday which is hot tamale day (check website for day to day menu) anyways yeah you pick three tamales and they get it ready for you at the speed of light. Salsas included were full of flavor and quite robust. Hands down best tamales I've had in awhile. There's just a little inside and a little outdoor seating, so if you pick a quiet time it could be a perfect place for a casual date. I did not see a separate listing for The Tamale Company in the Yelp world; so I will leave my review here. After looking at all of the pictures on other reviews of the Bodega; I really would like to check that out. I wanted to share that we have been purchasing the sampler box (or two) for the last 3-4 years for our Christmas meal with family. We also purchase them when they have sales. They offer discounts pretty often. My mother's favorite is the beef tenderloin and mine and my husband's favorite is the black bean and corn. However, I love every single flavor of savory tamale that they have. I really would like to try the sweet and spicy ones sometime too. I have even purchased the sampler box and had shipped to a friend as a bereavement gift. When I received the thank you card, my friend told me "Those are the best tamales I have ever had. I AM SERIOUS!!!" I also enjoy the Cita's Salsas. I hope that I have the opportunity someday to visit the Bodega. read more

So I've been eating here for three years now and this is my very first time going in person inside the bodega!! First off the exterior and interior is amazing is so inviting. It's so authentic. It smells delicious as soon as you walk in I love all the shelves shelving all the authentic Mexican pieces and I got some chicken tamales. I also bought a straw and met Israel and his mother-in-law Deborah great inviting customer service!; Deborah& I had a little short chitchat about shopping and the authenticity of just coming inside. The shop versus shopping online.is like you get all the feels the ambiance smell the sense and being able to touch the different textures of handmade cups, candleholders, and, hot chocolate all the ready-made meals in the freezer. It was more than enough that you could choose from the refrigerator and the desserts. I did a couple few videos because it's raining outside and I'm trying to get back to the house so I can devour these tamales but if you haven't been, you must go to try them out!!!! I went specifically for the birria ramen that they only sale on Thursday during lunch. It's $17 to get it with cheese on top, definitely feels like a lot. It takes 5 minutes to get. It's nice inside but really small and they have premade food. The lady at the register was very nice. I get this home and it's a birria ramen with a tiny quesadilla. The quesadilla is tiny but good. The birria ramen was absolutely amazing, probably best I've had besides Tacos Gloria. This is one of the best things you can get in Duncanville. I'll definitely go back. read more

I pass this place quite often on my way home and I was always curious if it was good or not and it popped up on my yelp feed and I was starving, so I stopped by today. taste like somebody specially picked out the ingredients that would perfectly align to make a masterpiece of deliciousness. I don't know a better way to say it. The had the chicken elote bowl anda medium Mexican salad and put those together and they made a beautiful baby in my mouth. If you have not tried the new Wednesday Lunch special you need to. Pan seared chicken breast with mash potatoes and squash! My favorite lunch meal so far! Always friendly service. Went in at first to just help out a local business but keep going back to help myself to the delicious tamales.
