I absolutely love food. But more importantly I appreciate good customer service. The host/cashier was knowledgeable of the menu and took her time with each customer. The space was neat and clean. Carl took time to meet each guest as they entered, waited to place their order or as they were leaving; a head nod, handshake or hug extended to each one. He has been open a short period of time but has definitely built a faithful repeat experience for many! Now with all that said...the food. The food was off-the-chain. Omg! He is my favorite DFW CHEF! I supported this black owned business yet again & was proud to do so. I ordered 2 dinners (catfish & pork chop) with the sides of Mac n Cheese, Candies yams, Collard Greens, Dirty Rice. The wife saw this on her Facebook feed. Thought we would check it out. Off the beaten path so you won't see it from the main road. Don't expect a white table cloth environment as this is more of a warehouse setup. Nothing fancy at all. The open concept room had many posters hanging touting Cedric as the Chef. Plus we noticed he had his own line of cookware for sale as well. We ordered at a small counter from and the menu was a scrolling menu on the wall. I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp basket. My wife got the fried chicken wings with yams and coleslaw. The catfish was a two piece full filets and was absolutely terrific and fried to perfection. Wonderful moisture on the inside and nice and crunchy on the outside. The fried shrimp was a very different matter. They were medium sized and fried way too long. They were curled very hard and dry with zero softness and or moisture. Medium shrimp should be fried no longer than 2 minutes. These had to be at 3 - 3 1/2 minutes. Flavor was good on the catfish as well as the shrimp. The tartar sauce was impressive. Homemade. No doubt about it. No cocktail sauce was given but tabasco was. The chicken wings were meaty, flavorful and fried to perfection. You will not be disappointed. The yams were literally the best we ever had at a restaurant. The coleslaw was ok. I like mine a little sweeter but I will say that this coleslaw was a good start to getting even better with experimentation. If your near Red Oak stop in and enjoy. Ok. So I drive over from Duncanville, not expecting much. Because several of the places these so call influencers said were places you shouldn't miss, well they were. Miss me with that nasty stuff. But, I digress. Hallelujah, I was almost speaking in tongue, cause that fried catfish came to me hot, crispy fried to perfection. I almost wrecked my car on I35 trying to snatch up a heavenly piece. And, those candied yams, I know even my Mama would give them a 10! And she don't play with the catfish ya'll. The baked beans had just a hint of sugar and barbecue sauce. Needless to say my steering wheel got almost as much of the flavor I did! Next time, I'm bring my bib or maybe I'll eat it in the parking lot! That's about the only thing that they need more of. Surely, they can expect me to be back. They understood the assignment people! And don't go crying about the price. Cedric is the best. We have had the priviledge of eating his food for three catering events, and we have stood outside the Red Oak location to get the Sunday Soul Food. Everything we have eaten is so good. One of my favorites is the sweet potatoe cheese cake, and the chicken cajun pasta. You cannot go wrong. Stop by and try it. I guarantee you will love it. Phenomenal from the front door to the back. Greeted by owner. Everything was so clean and inviting. The atmosphere was an entire vibe with gospel music playing in background. Every staff member had a smile and looked like the enjoyed working there. There was a lady doing cheesecake samples that were so delicious and flavorful I had to take several slices home because I wanted to taste every flavor. A must go to for quality "Soul Food" in Red Oak. Make sure to try the collards they are so good if you put some on the top of your head your tounge would beat you to death trying to get to them. The owner opened the door & greeted me & most guests. The guy taking orders was inpatient & not friendly. Also there was a lady, doing taste test of cheesecake, who was very rude. She kept walking in front of me. When did a taste testing where I was leaning, because where were no available seats. Then, I got the food. The greens were awful.
