Legit non chain related donut shops are non existent in this state so when I come across one that is a small local spot I'm all about it! So I've been told get here early or don't even bother and that's exactly what we did and I must say these are definitely some of the best donuts in the state as they are hot fresh and just classic but definitely with their own unique style. So the blueberry cake donut was definitely my favorite as it was super flavorful with blueberry donut goodness as well as a yummy icing on top to set the vibe to the donut goodness one could totally get again and again! The jelly donut was awesome like it's up there with one of the best ones I've ever had as the flavors were totally there and just a perfect doughnut from start to finish. So we are suckers for apple fritters and we totally had to get one to try and I must say while it was good it wasn't my favorite as these I'm very picky with as I love them flat and really crispy and not everyone does them this way so I can't knock them for their own style and besides it was definitely good for what it was just not the go to one for me! There straight up is only a window in the door a true hole in the wall where you pick what you want from the window with a nice lady helping us she was very quick to get the line down! If you plan on using a card to pay they to charge you a fee so just plan accordingly or bring cash to avoid it! This is a hidden gem from my very own hometown! Fair warning this place requires some early risers and patience. This place is known for selling out so get there early unless you wanna be disappointed. They accept cash and card but cash tips are always appreciated! The service here is always top notch, they work hard to make some delicious doughnuts, the staff are so welcoming and kind. Take it from a returning customer of many years, these doughnuts are amazing. I will say majority of these doughnuts are a cake-doughnut style with different toppings and glazes. They also offer jam filled and apple fritters. Anyone you pick will be delicious. Being that I am down here in Ocala for a bit due to a sick family member it's offering time to check out some must visit spots. I was told that Tas-T-O's donuts was a must and they weren't wrong. This is an old-school donut joint doing it retro-style which is the best way! I made sure to be there right after opening at Saturday 6:15am and there were already cars pulling up. I was told get there super early or be shut out. I can see why, as these donuts are the real deal! Made fresh overnight and put on display shelves in the front window. You order from the front door window and also point to the ones you want and how many. I got a box of a dozen and it was less than $20, a variety of donuts, apple fritters, and glazed bow ties. Along with a tasty large cup of coffee for around $3. All I'll say is "WOW"!!!! The donuts are delicious, soft, moist, fluffy, and so fresh tasting. No wonder they sell out fast, as most days they are open 5 or 6am until noon, and many times they close early once they sell out. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. You can see the kitchen in full view with all it's equipment and racks through the windows. Oh, and the service is terrific. The girl working this overnight to morning shift making the donuts was very kind and nice to chat with. Even though she had to be tired she was cheerful with a smile as we discussed the business and answered my questions about the business and area. I actually ventured to Tast-T-O's Donuts after the gym early this morning. I have heard so much about this donut shop and it's definitely a legendary place to go in our big little city. Ive been curious for some time so I'm glad that I went there today. When they run out of donuts they close even though closing time is set for noon. The shop is open Tuesday-Friday at 5:00 am, Saturday and Sunday at 6. Monday and Tuesday just dream of these donuts because they are closed. When I approached Tas-T-O's it appeared as I imagined rather unique and not like most places as you go to the window you stand in a line and you wait to order. So it's take out only so be prepared. But let me tell you the service is fantastic and the girl working was extremely kind. Since I've never been there I asked many questions and she explained to me everything I asked. Since there were many people behind me I made it brief but she was wonderful. The kind of person you know that liked her job, enjoyed being around people and making them happy giving the best customer service that she possibly could. I picked two dozen, one for home and one for the gym so the overnight guys could have some when I go back tonight. These apple fritters were huge and looked amazing, the bowties fluffy and everything just called to me it was so hard to choose. The ones with sprinkles had so many they were smaller probably cake like and the others yeast! The cinnamon roll enticed me as well and when I came home that and the apple fritter I think I devoured in less than 5. So delicious, oh my! There was some with nuts and there was glazed, there was raspberry jelly, maple nut roll, blueberry, Bavarian cream and so many more! The filled and fritters cost a bit more but honestly these price were good and you need to go to Tas-T-O's and experience what Ocala has hidden from you it is a delight. I've left a previous review for this donut spot. I used to love it here. It's a little drive from my house but was always worth it. Today I ordered two cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles, two regular donuts with chocolate frosting, one pumpkin, one with nuts and one with coconut. The pumpkin tasted fresh. Wanted to find an old school donut shop in Ocala and this place fit the bill. Be forewarned, they sell out quickly in the morning! I once tried to go at 10AM on the weekend and all they had left were a handful of the plain cake donuts. We tried another time on a weekday around 7:45AM and while there was already a short line, it moved quickly and the full selection was there. We ordered a dozen donuts ( 1/2 cake, 1/2 yeast/filled). In general, we are partial to yeast donuts and they have a good variety there. Our favorite was the original glazed, the donut was just the perfect consistency, very light but still moist. We also tried the boston cream, jelly, lemon-filled donuts, and chocolate glazed. All were good, the only thing I would say is that the frosting they use is very, very sweet. This morning I went up to Ocala to see my parents and got hungry, so looked for ideas on here. The lady working there said this location has been open since the 70s.
