The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and allowed me to take as much time as I needed to check everything out, which was a few minutes because there is a lot to choose from. I don't know if the selection changes daily, I forgot to ask, but on this day he had: Espresso brownies Pistachio white chocolate brownies Double chocolate brownies German chocolate brownies Toasted pecan brownies Naked brownies Cherry turnovers Vegan banana walnut bread I ended up going with the double chocolate brownie, and a macchiato. We were camped at Paynes Prairie SP and finally decided to get a morning treat along with a cup of coffee. My husband had a thick slice of banana walnut bread and I enjoyed the cherry turnover. My latte was perfect. The coffee was so delicious, I bought a bag of beans and had him grind it for me. I can hardly wait to try my morning pour over with this grind. There is also a nice little shopping area inside the authentic Cracker House. We ate our baked goodies and drank our coffee outside on the front porch. Sitting and drinking in the small town view, ancient oaks with branches reaching across the road was the best start to our day's bike ride. This beats Starbucks any day! read more

Gosh, I love this coffee shop/bakery! Haven't been here in a number of years but stopped by today when I visited Micanopy. No law of diminishing return here. Everything was as excellent as I remembered. Delicious cup of cappuccino accompanied by a Rose Buttercream Brownie. Wow. Rose water and rose (or hibiscus?) syrup smothering a gooey brownie. The sweetest little store front in Micanopy!!We were exploring the town and decided to take a walk, ending up in front of Mosswood Farm Store, across from the fire dept. The front porch lured us in and we were greeted to a huge case of bakery items and a chalkboard menu. The store also sold some pottery items, jams, honey and a few other things. Felt like taking a step back in time with the squeaky wooden floors and wooden walls, all adding to the charm of this cute little shop. I wanted an iced raspberry chocolate latte but they were out of raspberry syrup. The staff recommended lavender with the mocha and it was DELICIOUS!! My husband had a hot caramel latte and it was just as good. We've been traveling the country in our rv and this was one of those coffee spots that will go down as one of our favorites! This place is legit! The molasses cookie is what dreams are made of. The brownies are beyond, we tried the peanut butter, gluten free and the pecan. The pecan was my favorite but the others were also A++. I order a ton from Goldbelly and Mouth but am hoping I can start gifting these baked gems. My fave cookie has always been the Levain chocolate chip (NYC) but the molasses cookie has changed my mind. Try this place, its magic! read more

Came with friends for coffee and tea. They got an oatmilk latte and mocha latte, while I got a green tea. My tea was wonderful but I wish the woman working would have told me about the self serve station behind me. I absolutely adore mosswood farm store. I have been there many times over the years and it's my favorite place to go for breakfast pastries and coffee on the weekends when I am in the area. Years ago, the owner, Emily Piazza, made my wedding cake and it was so beautiful and utterly scrumptious! They do many special orders and I've never seen anything come from them that wasn't gorgeous and delicious. The brick oven sourdough is absolutely amazing and if you're lucky you might get to see Joe Pierce, the brick oven master, working in the spectacular, lush garden behind the store. Mosswood is a treasure and will certainly be a highlight of your visit to the Gainesville/Micanopy area! Don't miss it! read more

Don't listen to ANY of the bad reviews. I've had almost every item on their menu and everything is amazing! Homemade, fresh, made with quality ingredients and delicious! The people who work there are kind and their garden out back is a nice, peaceful backdrop while sipping on a cup of coffee. Just be careful during skeeter season! They also have a little store with a good variety of natural products. The backyard is very cool with plenty of space and lots of wild nature. I happened into this organic bakery, with it's jellies / jams / honeys / essential oils / handmade soaps / organic spices / popcorns / and handmade violins at the advice of a friend. What a perfect find, I can't thank her enough, this place and its owners are top notch. I stood and talked to the owner, Morgan for about an hour, as if we'd known each other for years. That's the kind of vibe she emits. She's not only a fabulous organic baker, but she exudes the perfect customer service friendly spirit. An entrepreneur extraordinaire and she never meets a stranger. I was fascinated by her array of organic products, books on living clean and green, and handmade crafts. I purchased a few pasties, jellies and a loaf of her Parmesan olive bread. That bread was yummy. I'm sure I didn't see it all, but if you are traveling up or down highway 441, it's worth the slight detour. You'll no doubt see things I didn't, or just drop in for nothing else but a delightful chat with Morgan and the locals that hang there. The store front is very inviting to be sat in with a lovly bistro set to to enjoy the fine baked goods ,coffees etc that are awaiting you inside. Inside has changed in the past four years to more of a counter with bright showcases of inviting guava turnovers and lentil puff pastry that the country store .It's progress and delightfully they now have ice cream.In florida this is a must food. I have been trying to make it out to Micanopy for years. I love visiting historical locations anytime I travel. So many reviews mentioned going the the Mosswood Farm Store, it was my first stop in the town. Coming into to the old house, browsing in the shop, and having my coffee out on the tiny porch did not disappoint. The brownie I bought for my husband, Salted Caramel, was absolutely delicious (he has been eating a small piece everyday "to make it last"). My macchiato was made fresh with extra milk just the way I asked for it. I have spent many vacations in deep southern states like GA, NC, SC, AL, and TN, I can truly say that Southern Hospitality is alive and well! I thought this would apply in north central FL, as well. I was disappointed in the cold attitude. I learned that being polite and being friendly are two different things here. Maybe "small town-small minds" is a real thing. I really don't want to take it personally, but I don't understand how the family ahead of me and the gentleman that came in after me did not get the short answers, lack of eye contact, and general "resting B* face" I was treated to. Not sure if it was the simple act of asking if any of their products were Gluten Free (I was realistic and didn't expect any), if wanting my coffee in a mug (not a to-go cup), if changing my mind to spend MORE money while she was ringing me up, or my general appearance at the store. I went to the mosswood farm store back in september of 2018 and as a vegan I didn't assume they'd have anything for me to eat because many places don't have vegan options but they had their vegan indian samosas there and it's now become one of my absolute favorite foods, I live in Georgia so I grabbed about 3 more for the road and for when I was home because they're really that good. I can't say enough good things about this place, it's a beautiful thing when places offer vegan food but for their vegan food to be this good is an absolute miracle. I adore this place. i adore that it's under the trees, that there's a brick oven baking bread in the backyard, i adore that there are fat kitties on the back porch, i adore the teeny tiny farmer's market on Sunday afternoons. I came twice in the span of one week since it was my bi-annual trip home. i met a farmer who was selling lard from acorn-fed hogs and i HAD to have some and then come back the following weekend to buy more. plus, i wanted to see the brick oven in action. we also met a farmer who was selling smoked wild hog straight from the Ocala National Forest. damn, folks, that's worth the trip, let me tell you. he was also selling smoked mullet and shrimp. other goodies from the store itself include delicious chess squares, pasteis de nata, wild yellow plum jam, and raw butter and milk. read more

So here it's Florida-Georgia weekend and I'm thinking that it'd be safe to venture over to Micanopy to try out Mosswood ... pretty day, nice ride in the country, good times, right? Ho ho. First off, if you're like me and you're an absolute putz with directions in unfamiliar locales, make sure you bring directions along when you come because apparently NO ONE in Micanopy knows this place exists. Sure, it's right off 441 and judging by the map, seemingly simple to find--but I couldn't find it and no one I asked had even heard of it. All the same, Micanopy's a small place and I figured if I went over to the festival area, someone would have heard of it. And voila, I parked under a tree and there it was! The building looks like a small historic house, and as soon as you step inside, you'll be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of memorabilia available in the front room. I, however, was already distracted by a table of goodies directly in front of the store and proceeded straight to the back to pay for yummy fattening pastries. And then I saw that they sell Reed's Ginger Ale. Be still, my diabetes-ridden, cholesterol-laced heart! I ended up with four assorted pastries (two brownies, one nutty and one plain, a creme brulee puff thingie, and a cream cheese/burnt cinnamon slice) and two bottles of the Reed's (original and extra ginger) for less than $14. Not bad, considering that an equivalent haul from Uppercrust would have probably been at least $2 more. I ate the creme brulee puff on the spot and loved it--the custard filling was nicely seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg and tasted like a delicious treat that you would expect to get around Christmastime. I liked the cream cheese pastry as well, though it wasn't too far removed from your average danish. The nutty brownie was my least favorite item--it was just plain and drab to my tastes and I gave it to a more appreciative friend. I liked the plain brownie better than this--it was a dense, rich block of chocolate, just the way I like it! But the Reed's ... mmmm. THIS stuff is ginger ale. Forget Canada Dry and Vernor's. Tasty on its own and makes an excellent Dark N' Stormy! The official Dark N' Stormy recipe: - Pour 1.5 oz.
