I don't know if they made a mistake or not, but if that's the way, the strawberry always taste, I will never get it again. After a night out in downtown Ocala, I was wanting a sweet treat to finish it off. It seems like there is not a lot of ice cream options in downtown Ocala, especially that are open on Mondays. Luckily, we saw online that Twistee Treat was open until 10:30 PM. We hurried on out and made it a few minutes before they closed. Twistee Treat is located in a standalone building at the front of a shopping complex. There is plenty of parking, and we had no issue finding a spot upon arrival. You will have no problem locating it, because it is literally a giant ice cream cone! This is a walk up stand, so no indoor seating, but there are plenty of tables and benches on the patio for you to use. Loved the atmosphere at this place. It is fun and inviting with all of the colors, and of course with the ice cream cone building. It seems like a lot of young people come here to hang out, and bring some energy to the space. The lights were fun to see as well, since it was dark. We came here on a Monday in July, and arrived about 10 minutes before they closed. There was still a line, but I believe we were one of the last to order for the night. The line went fast, and we were waited on in just a matter of minutes. My fiancé had previously visited this spot, but it was my first time. I took some time to look over the menu, and man they have a great selection here! It is soft serve, but they make several different concoctions and novelty items that keep it interesting. Most menu items have "signature" options, but everything seems to be customizable if you want to make your own treat. Even with the novelty items, it seems like everything is made to order. So, it is easy to customize and order something exactly that you are wanting. We ended up ordering three treats, even though I truthfully wanted to try everything on the menu! I ordered a small Twirl with Oreos and Praline Pecans. I had never seen Praline Pecans as a mix-in at an ice cream shop before, so that was something new and fun to try! My fiancé ordered a medium Twirl with Oreos, Reese Cups, and Brownies. He really enjoyed this! I also really wanted to try a Waffle Taco, so we got one with Reese Cups. It was absolutely LOADED with Reese's! We took this home to try another day, and it was still awesome after being in the freezer for a couple days. Definitely large enough to share. On all the menu items, the toppings were extremely generous! The staff were all very friendly, and also helpful in answering my questions regarding the menu. I noticed when we received the one Twisters that was supposed to have brownies, they were missing. I asked one of the girls at the window if we could just get a cup of them on the side, and she was apologetic for the situation and more than willing to give a cup of the brownies. I appreciated the customer service and willingness to rectify the situation, even when they were starting to work to close for the night. I thought the prices were very reasonable. You definitely get your money's worth with anything that you order. As said, portions and topping amounts are plentiful and generous. I believe our bill for the three items was around $16 or $17 dollars. Overall, I was extremely impressed with my first trip to Twistee Treat. It has a great ambiance, menu, and the service was top-notch. Would be a great spot to stop on a date night or with the family. The hours are also great - it seems like there is not a ton open late night anymore, but at times this place is open until 11:30 PM. I get there and the general manager of this location tells me there's no phone number here for me to talk to anybody , he's the general manager and how he'll offer me a banana. I told him, I'm not driving back to the patient's house this time now with a banana after she's ate into it. Nor should I have too. She's already probably started eating into it and that's too much ice cream and sweets for her in one evening , I would like it remade another time. He tells me he's not permitted and there's no allowance for managers to do any such thing that everything has to be done online and I have to contact corporate then he tells me that email will be sent directly to him , and then he will have to send it to the office to have anything resolved that's insane !! This was my family time on a Sunday and I came all way back up there due to being no phone w copy for receipt . They refused to have it made another day and replaced.. So let me get straight . Twisty treats is not a dessert place, it is an EXPERIENCE and I was NOT prepared. I ordered the waffle taco with soft serve and immediately realized I had made a life-altering decision. The waffle was warm, crispy, perfect. The soft serve was cold, smooth, dangerously creamy. Together? Absolutely unhinged. My brain shut off. My thoughts left the building. I was in the drive-through staring straight ahead trying to process what just happened to me. This dessert had me gripping the steering wheel One bite and it was over. Lights out. Curtains closed. Illegal levels of good. This waffle taco needs to be studied, regulated, and possibly locked up for public safety. Fast drive-through, friendly staff, zero flaws. I loved my vanilla fancy s'mores crunch, it was a good mix of creamy vanilla ice cream that paired so perfectly with crunchy s'mores and Chocolate covered upper shell. It was a bit hard to tackle as a couple of the s'mores fell off when the ice cream started melting, so in hindsight, I think getting a cup would be a better idea. I tried Hubby's pistachio peanut and it was delicious as well, although I lived my Vanilla Fancy S'mores Crunch better - as the crunch was satisfyingly crunchy, sweet, and very delicious. This is my moms favorite cool treat spot in her neighborhood. Stopped in while I was visiting and we swung through the drive through for something sweet after dinner. The line was long but moved extremely quickly. I was hoping for a bigger selection of tastee treats, but looks like mostly soft serve. I tried one of the sundaes which was good but it was pretty standard overall. I think all in all it's a great spot for soft serve but the options are limited to soft serve, sundaes and smoothies.
