The staff is very friendly. I purchase a lot from this store but lately I've been looking online before I buy. The markup is insane. I needed a new water pump and went in to the store to find it for $229.00, quick check on amazon and it was a measly $145 bucks with 2 day free shipping. Then I go in a week later for a plumbing part, they wanted $45.95 and guess what... I'll have it in two days for $14.00. It was the wrong piece that THEY ordered and didn't give us our money back and wanted to charge extra for the part anyways. Bought an RV from them the sales Dept. was Great. Its their service after the sale that is bad. Asked their service Department for a quote to hook up the trailer brakes. $693... $241 for the connecter and $452 labor to "HARDWIRE" the Truck. Total BS as you can buy the connecter for $39.99 at Autozone and it just plugs in. No "HARDWIRE" about it. Then after 1 year the Awning literally fell off and could have injured some bystanders. We. they said they can not help me with that because they are not responsible. But would give me a great deal of $1,500 to fix it. Found the part in the homedepot.com website for 399$ and fixed it myself. read more

I had an electrical issue between my motorhome and towed car. I called an explained the issue and was told they don't work on Motorhomes. When I explained the situation again, that it appears to be an electrical connector problem, they said they would have the service manager call me back. I called twice with the same response. Buyer beware. Owner falls back on his paperwork which is not in itself a terrible thing. However, you will be scrambling should you situation change. He can keep your deposits as it says so on his purchase agreement which puts him in the drivers seat. Put the minimum down if you don't want to loose it. He reported to us that he had no issues going to court as he has been there before. Told us that this is the way he does business. We should have listen to the sales staff about his character. Bought a small RV from Tarpley; $17,000 is a life savings to us. We also purchased the 5-year extended warranty for over $2,000. Oh, but then we paid more money to have them install a "braking system" in our truck which is needed to haul the RV. Within the first month of owning it, a design flaw caused bed to puncture back wall which also damaged the table (which is the bed base). Took them months to fix it & replace our table. Recently the roof antenna flew off the roof - really? So we call Tarpley & they tell US to contact the company who issued the extended warranty policy - they TARPLEY sold us the policy & we felt that they should be assisting us with this. We found all of our paperwork which clearly stated that the roof antenna was covered. However, the warranty people said that only the electrical system associated with the antenna is covered under the policy. BEWARE OF TARPLEY RV! They are so sweet when selling you a product but DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!! read more

Tried to make an offer on a travel trailer they had in stock and they wanted a 4000 dollar deposit on my credit card before they would even look at my offer. Never heard of this before and I used to sell cars. All they had to do was tell me yes or no and I would be glad to make the deposit if offer accepted. Didn't ask them to take it out of inventory or do anything but look at my offer. So much for dealing local. "That's their policy" but lost the sale. read more

On August 17 of 2018 my wife and I purchased a 2019 Grand Design Solitude, 310GK. Our experience with Tarpley RV was much less than optimal; with the exception of the Service Department's Manager ("Big John") and the staff in the Parts Department. From the beginning, our excitement of a once-in-a-lifetime purchase was short-lived! The Camper malfunctioned as soon as we drove it out of the dealership lot! From that day forward we were faced with much distress because of disregard for the issues at hand and the attention we deserved. Mr. Tarpley was less than sympathetic to our concerns. When purchasing a Camper of this magnitude, one would expect top-notch attention and guidance from the RV Dealership's owner and sales manager/staff to ensure satisfaction. However, our experience was handled as though it was just another transaction and our expectations were greatly shattered. Unfortunately, we will never return to Tarpley RV for any further purchases even though we had been loyal customers many times before and had recommended this RV Dealership to many of our family members and friends throughout New Mexico and Colorado. We are trusting that our 2019 Camper will live up to the high standards that Grand Design touts so highly! I live 68 miles from Tarpley's (one way). I drove there and purchased a kit to replace the roof vent on my RV. When I got home and opened the box, I discovered an important part was missing. I called Tarpley's and spoke to the manager. She informed me there was nothing she could do. Her last statement was, "let us know when your back in the area. Sorry." What good would that do? She didn't even offer to credit the missing part back to my credit card. I'll buy elsewhere from now on. If you buy something from these people, check the items before you leave the store. read more

We had struggled along without a heater til we showed up at Tarpley RV. Had come from Westminster, CA. Dillon RV thought they had fixed it, NOT! At Tarpley had to wait for diagnoses and to order a part. I think waiting is part of the RV experience. However, once they got the part they started working on it immediately...there was something else wrong that took them awhile to fix. Showed us what they were doing and the team came up with a viable solution! I thought about them the next morning as the heater warmed us up. They are friendly, courteous and were determined to have us on our way with a working heater. Kudos to the staff! read more

We purchased a 38ft toy hauler from them. They only placed one battery in saying that's what they come with. The local dealer said no way. We also left under the impression all financial obligations were taken care of. We were never told there was anything else left for us to do. A month after returning home, we received a notice stating a tax needed to be paid. After talking with the sales manager, we were told they had not misrepresented anything and we should have know about the tax. We were traveling through in our 5th wheel and broke the latch to our mirror closet doors. They were the only RV supply store around, so we decided to give them a try. The service was amazing and everyone was so nice. They had the latch we needed and a couple other items we had been looking for. We stopped here when passing through Durango, the first major town that has any sort of RV service or repair. This place is worthless. Their techs couldn't spare even a minute to help us troubleshoot an issue. If you own and operate a business that deals with transient people, maybe you should keep someone on hand that can quickly help those in need. Also, the one item we needed from their shop turned out to be broken in the package. What a waste of time. read more

Why do dealership employees feel the need to go through people's things. You take an rv in for repair/warranty and when you go to pick it up, doors are open throughout. Things that don't need to be touched are rifled with. Why would ALL the bedroom drawers and doors need to be opened in order to fix something in the living room? Why is the shower left open? Do you need IN the shower to work on a slide? Why would you need to open a toolbox IN THE BACK when the only way to access the back is opening an additional exterior door? What are you doing back there? Why do you feel the need to drain our batteries? They were shut OFF when we dropped it off. Why are they on now???? If you are looking for a company with GOOD SERVICE do NOT go here unless you want everything you own pawed at. read more

There are many issues with this establishment... My wife and I walk in. We have purchased a trailer with Tarpleys before and used them many times for parts and other service needs. We stopped in to look at a couple of the Grand design models as we were looking to trade out our 2010 Montana for. We walk in hoping to see the same smiling sales crew that we had worked with in the past, but instead the office was empty. Not a person around. We wait about 15 minutes, until we decide to go see if we can find someone. Someone in the parts area made a statement over the intercom and we went into the sales area to wait. Still no one came or about another 20 minutes. A kid, that must have been 15 or 16 years old comes over and "helps" us finally. He shows us a couple models, tries to up sell us constantly. I ask if Laurie or David was around as we had worked with them before. He said that they have moved onto other jobs. We continue to look at a couple models but realize that the kid had no idea what he was talking about, so we decided to take our business elsewhere. It really is to bad that a business that had been so wonderful to us in the past, and so helpful has fallen so short now. I will not be returning. read more

I broke a spring on my Sunnybrooke Travel trailer coming down Red Mountain Pass. Just made it to Silverton Co and could go no further. I contacted Tarpley and spoke to the service manger. He gave me the name of a reliable towing company. My rig was towed safely fifty one miles thru the mountains and arrived at Tarpleys late Thursday afternoon. They found the problem and had a replacement spring. I was told they could perform the work on Friday and could get me going by Friday afternoon. I was grateful and thought that would be terrific, Friday morning around 9:30 I received a call and the work was done. These are friendly professional people. They went out of their way to get me back on the road. The cost was under $350 which was a pleasant surprise, I can't recommend any one higher than these good folks at Tarpley in Durango Colorado. read more

if you are looking for a travel trailer / toy hauler / RV I would recommend going anywhere else but Tarpleys. It's like dealing with a bad used car dealership in the 80's. Prices are over inflated (10 to 15K) what you will find anywhere else and none of the inventory has prices marked on the units. If you want to know the price you have to ask as sales person and then they tell you to make them an offer... (unless you have done a little research you have no reference point to even start)!!! We live locally and like to support the local businesses but wouldn't buy anything from Tarpleys if they were the last RV dealer around. They have trailers on their lot that are over a year old and look like they have been lived in. The office is old and outdated (paneled walls and old and musty smelling and looking). Sales people have that I don't give a S*it attitude if they sell you something or not. Coming from a large city environment I am shocked that a company like this can survive the way they operate... read more
