BEWARE! If you buy a cell phone from this or any other Target, carefully note any promotions being offered, and make sure you receive the discount! Take a photo of any signs that are posted!
I purchased a $750 phone, and a sign said that if I activated new service using my Target Red Card, I would receive 5% off the price of the phone.
The rep that sold it to me tried 4 times to get the discount to go through, and it didn't work. Fortunately, I took a photo of the sign. He told me to just call Verizon, and they would honor it.
I have wasted HOURS of my time on the phone and in Target. Verizon keeps telling me that Target has to take care of it, and Target keeps telling me that it's Verizon's responsibility.
A few days ago, a manager, Krystal, said that if I would bring in my original receipt, she would give me a Target gift card for the amount of the discount I should have received. I brought my receipt in, and now she says that Verizon will credit me in the second or third billing cycle. Verizon still says it isn't their promotion, it's Target's, and they aren't going to credit me. Ever.
My sister had the exact same problem! She purchased a phone at Target that was $100 off. The discount didn't go through at the register, but the rep told her that AT&T would credit her the $100. AT&T said that it was Target's promotion, and she would have to talk to them! Two months later, she's still trying to get them to honor the sale price!
A friend of ours had the same experience, so this is obviously a common occurrence at Target. Most people either don't notice they didn't receive the deal, or they give up after several phone calls.
Again, if you buy a phone there, pay careful attention! Make sure you're charged the correct price, and document any signs posted, and exactly what you're told and by whom. (Better yet-- buy your phone somewhere else!)
I expect a major retailer like Target to honor their signs! This STILL isn't resolved! I'm pretty disgusted at the way this was handled, so I won't be shopping there again anytime soon!
Update: After several calls to their corporate headquarters, I was finally mailed a check for what I was owed. My sister also received a check. Mine came certified mail and I had to sign for it. I still don't shop at Target because of this experience.
2nd Update: It's nearly 3 years later, and I STILL don't shop at Target! Prior to moving to Santa Maria and this incident, I had been in my Pasadena Target at least once or twice a week! I hope the $40 they attempted to cheat me out of was worth losing my business! "Penny wise and dollar foolish..." lol read more
