We went to Target to use a $25 off $150 promotion while picking up Christmas gifts. The app showed an Apple Pencil in stock, but it took multiple employees and a long search to locate it -- my wife eventually found it locked in a caged cart. Then we were told electronics items had to be rung up separately, but doing that meant we wouldn't qualify for the promotion. No manager responded to calls for help, so the employee rang everything together. The receipt showed no $25 discount, and several items didn't match the prices shown in the Target app. We were told Apple products didn't count toward the promotion, so we added more items to reach $150 without it. Then we were told we had to return and repurchase everything at customer service. After doing that -- still no discount, because Legos were also excluded in the fine print. We were also told the prices in the app were "online only," and we were expected to mention them before checkout. The employees were helpful, but Target's policies, systems, and fine-print exclusions made the entire experience feel like bait-and-switch. We spend thousands a year at Target, but after this frustrating trip we'll be shopping elsewhere. read more

Target 1 I've had the worst customer service experience at Target, where I frequently visit to charge my car. Despite approaching multiple employees for help, I was consistently brushed off. The parking lots to tough to be sure.. spaces are tight and there are always people hanging out.. why anyone would loiter in a target parking lot is beyond me...weirdos....the store is mid to lower end on dirty scale... I like to use the drive up feature but lately I have been getting frustrated with this location. On 3 instances now, I have received opened/unsealed make up items from this location. I understand that this is due to customers trying out items which they should not be doing. However, there seems to be no quality control at this store. It defeats the purpose of having drive up options when I am having to return items/re-order them again. From now on, i will only be ordering make up products from online. The dude and I came to This Santa Maria Target on 02/14/21 as I needed a few items. I was considering Shipt delivery but I didn't have $35 worth of things I needed so decided to get up early and get our day started then go to breakfast. Anywho, since I know Target stores pretty well we were in and out in minutes. I am noticing a lot of Targets are looking so different as they are transforming their colors! I like the new look but I'm old school. I'm so use to Target being Red and White not beige or brown. But it is pretty. All Targets are usually clean and organized. Since they barely opened in the morning the dude and I were like the only ones in there so that was pretty fun. We checked out the clothes and jewelry as I forgot my earrings too. I decided I didn't need jewelry and just got my makeup which is just my lip stain, eye liner and mascara water proof. I got some princess crowns for my nieces so we can have a princess party together. We opted for self check out and in the process I lost my lip stain I paid for and didn't notice until we got the car. I had to go back to self check out but people were already there so I let a staff member know and they informed me to go to Guest Services. Guest services directed me back to self check out and when we walked back over a customer found it and gave it to the employee. I got and left - such a happy feeling! Overall, I love Target! They always hook me up on my birthday and they have several good deals the are hard to pass up! I would recommend any Target at any location. All staff were wearing their face mask properly and took my missing item seriously! No complaints. Great experience at this location. read more

This target is fine. I noticed that after it was remodeled a few years ago it started going downhill. I don't know if it was because they didn't have enough staff on the floor working or what. They are consistently out of products, and the store was just not as well-kept as it once was. Whoever is in charge for ordering at the store needs to take notice of what things are selling out quickly and order more stock. I don't know if that's possible or how that works but it's frustrating to go and the things you were needing our stock. No I think the fact that the shelves and isles are often not organized might not necessarily be the full fault of the establishment and it's employees. It's quite easy to see that there are people who are pulling things off the shelves and not putting them back appropriately. It's starting to resemble another store in the area that is similar to target. The variety of products offered at this target is not up to par with others and surrounding areas. Staff members that I have chatted with have also agreed that this target is just not up to par with others. I specifically ordered items that would arrive before she got here. I opted not to order items with a later delivery date. This was on pace to be the first 5 for a target . This store is clean as hell, well appointed isles, and has all of the crap that you need or just want. They were down on cashiers this holiday trip and the machines just didn't want to work so lines were loooooooooong. The manager or head cashier kept apologizing and thanking people for their wait. I was in Target last week and noticed a dog in somebody's shopping cart. This dog was not a service dog nor did it have a vest on. A little while later this little dog was out of the cart running up and down the aisle with a kid. Target is generally my go to for like everything in life, but this location did not live up to regular Target standards. I may have come at a bad time but the whole environment of the store felt more like an underdeveloped dollar store. The staff were not kind and almost all I encountered throughout the various parts of the store were talking about what time they were off and how excited they were.. The women's clothes and sleep section was extremely limited on smaller sizes in everything. The front "dollar section" had a ton of random food items that were not even close to a dollar in it and looked like it hadn't been organized in a week. The home decor section had no sales and very little to choose from. Overall, I was so happy entering and so disappointed leaving. The parking lot was a nice size and there were ample amounts of cash registers for the size of the store which was nice. The fitting rooms were clean and orderly but I couldn't say the same for the bathrooms.. Everything felt out a little dirty and out of order and I will not be returning to this Target when I am in town again. read more

On June 26, 2019, along with the review here on Yelp!, I also sent a letter through the Contact Us section on the Target App and explained my entire experience with the Target in Santa Maria, CA and when it asked if I would like someone to contact me directly re: this incident, I clicked "Yes," and left my contact e-mail address. Well, as of today, July 9, 2019, I have not received any e-mail response nor has anyone reached out to me explaining that they are researching and will get back to me! Unfortunately, this reconfirms that the big box stores like Target do not care about their consumers experiences enough to contact them! Not that it really matters to them but they have just lost a customer for life! I will make it my mission to spread my negative experience to all of my friends and family and will ask them to never shop at a Target Store moving forward! I love Target and frequent this one at least 3x a week. However, I feel like they never stock items as often as necessary. Seldom are the diapers I use for my sons in stock, and my choice in makeup is the same. The containers are always empty and it makes me wonder if they ever stock! I've gone to target in the morning, afternoon and evenings and they always have carts full of items but no employee around to stock the aisles. I've had to go on the cart, open a box just to get the diapers I needed- all without an employee in sight. It's just odd. You'd think target would be in top of this, but nope! I just walked into this store and wanted to immediately leave the premises. Clothing was thrown all about on the floors on top of the racks and display stands as well as shoes and miscalleneous products. Truly, an injury waiting to happen with a potential lawsuit. No one should have to manuever about the walkways and isles avoiding items that they can trip and fall over. I personnally have a hip injury and have to watch where I step. Having items on the floor does not help. Associates are around but no one seen taking initiative to pick up items. If there is Supervision then they are lacking in their duties, no excuse for a public display of store negligence by any store associate. It brings the overall outlook of the store down. Corporate Officials should be made aware of this matter. A total breakdown of management and should be addressed accordingly. read more

Great Target location except for the eyesore that is the food court. Target Cafe, whatever it's called. It is usually messy and disgusting, by far the bane of this location. I heard that the management had the option of a Starbucks inside this Target during the renovation but that they opted for Pizza Hut instead. Big mistake, but I am sure Coffee Time relishes this small victory. Employees here are wonderful, many have been around for a very long time. I love this Target but grr that cafe needs fixin'. I am usually pleased with Target because I go in and out really quickly. I don't often ask for help but at the Santa Maria store it's like a 50/50 getting someone that's genuinely nice. Now understand that retail can be a stressful job however just tonight my mother was in the store and came out not wanting to shop there. I asked her what happened. I was informed that an employee was rather rude and made her feel stupid. She was asking about pest products that are safe for pets and humans. They denied that there were products that are eco-friendly for pest control however there is a product called "Stem" that kills ants and is pet and human-safe that is sold at Target. She was looking if there was a similar product for fleas too. If the employee was unsure then they could have said that they weren't familiar with that type of product. Instead, they kept saying that there was no such thing and gave her off-putting looks. I get that the employee may have things going on in their personal life however they seem to not understand so does everyone. My mom just lost her dog who was her sister's before passing away. She really didn't need to be treated so rudely tonight. My mom and I rather travel north and spend the gas to go to the SLO Target, than feel uncomfortable at the one here. I shop at Target all the time and for the most part I never have any issues. Today my employee at work told me that she went to target and just asked the target representatives if they had PS5's in stock. The employee went to the back and came out with one. My employee even said the two guys helping her made the comment that they had at least 7 of them left. So I called to see if they had a couple left and now all of the sudden you have to order online. I think that's unfair and unprofessional that they would sell a PS5 in store but then change up and lie about them having it in the back. Employees need to stop lying to customers. read more

This store has very unclean and unsafe bathrooms. Also their coupon policies are in house and they seem to make them up as they go. They require that you decide whether to use coupons or receive the gift card back for the sales that advertise gift cards as part of the deals. I love shopping at Target especially it it's right in front of work and they have their own Starbucks and food court. Staff at the Starbucks are kind but feel they always need correction when making drinks, my favorite barista is Todd he always makes my drinks perfect and don't have to come back to get it fixed. The food court is decent but just hate how there are days they are out of food items. There is times when I walk in and their dollar section is really messy or empty, wish they would keep up to date with it. Depending on the day I feel is when the store looks decent or really messy. The shoe section always a mess, need to really dig to find the shoes ur looking for. I came to find shopping online is much easier and then I just do in store pickup. Visited on Friday 2/11 with the goal of purchasing Tide Free and Clear laundry detergent. The shelves were disorganized and there was only two Free and Clear with no corresponding price sticker. So I went to two scanners, neither of which worked. I found three young Target staff talking in a group. These young ladies were having a jolly good time chatting amongst themselves. What a miserable experience! I went shopping for a couple of items. Took a cart, had my KleenKanteen travel coffee mug with me and a shopping list. Stopped the cart at end of a short aisle. Found what I wanted after a brief peruse. Went back to find my cart gone, with the KleenKanteen mug, a gift for this Xmas from my fiancé, and my shopping list. I looked around thinking maybe I had misplaced it or something. Looked all over the area, it was gone. Here's where I find fault with Target. I told employees that my cart was missing with the KK coffee container and list and they looked at each other like "not my problem". One of them said "oh yea it happens all the time". Then another actually said, "there's a cart there. It's been there a little while. Just take that one." I reminded them of the KK coffee container and they recommend I just look around the store, someone's probably got it. What? So, I proceeded to walk through various aisles loudly calling out repeatedly "SOMEONE HAS MY SHOPPING CART WITH A COFFEE MUG AND A SHOPPING LIST!!" Finally a manager approaches me; Young guy, and asks what the matter is. I explained it to him and he said- I'll check and see if someone's turned it in. He walks away and comes back with - yea no one has turned it in. Then he makes a slight effort to do a quick walk around and comes back with- "nope, I don't see it, so... maybe check back tomorrow..." he seemed like he didn't want me to be loud in the store and really wanted me to leave. I stood there and said, "wait, I want my mug back." To which another employee asked if he could help her ring something in or something. He walked away from me and began seeing to another issue... I finally told him I thought his customer service was terrible. That the least he could've done was take my number proactively and say he'll let me know if they find it. So he pulled out a piece of paper and a pen and took my number. That damn mug and cart were there! In the store! Somewhere! No intercom call! Nothing! I wasn't sure what to do. I was so pissed, I didn't want to make a further scene. Obviously I checked carts all over the parking lot. Went back the next day and the next day. They did not have my number from the original manager guy. But, the second manager I spoke to took it, and the third one saw the one from the second. I finally told them I thought their service was terrible and they handled my situation awfully. I saw that Target does carry my brand of mug ($30.00 +/-). I said I would accept a replacement mug. They told me they'd call me back within a day or two when they speak to the general store manager. No one has called me. It's been well over a month now. I cannot shop at Target anymore now. If they would honor my request at this point I would accept graciously and remove this review. But this treatment was unacceptable. read more
