I recently bought a coffee maker. I went to use multiple gift cards to bring down my total amount and the cashier was rude and huffed about it. As if me using gift cards to pay for an item was an issue. It felt embarrassing. This was a 200$ item on sale for 140$ and I wanted to use the gift cards I've collected and received in order to afford it, and the girl acted as if I had put 5 million things down on the conveyer belt. I normally go to this store because they have a better selection but lately the team members here have been more rude and unwilling to help. I don't think I'll return to this store unless I absolutely have to. read more

I cannot recommend shopping at this store for many reasons. Background: I normally shop at the SJ College Park (Coleman) location and will also shop at the SJ Capitol location if Coleman is out of stock on an item. This was my first time at the San Jose North (Holger) location. PEOPLE ARE NOT SOCIAL DISTANCING AT THIS LOCATION. STAFF ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENFORCE LOCAL HEALTH ORDINANCES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT SIGNAGE IN THE STORE TO REMIND PEOPLE TO MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE DISTANCE. There was a customer walking around the store without a mask on. I brought it to the attention of a store manager and she stated that they are NOT ALLOWED to enforce social distancing requirements. Only to remind customers to please abide by them. There are signs on the ground for ONLY the self-checkout line marking 6-ft distance. But this is not being done for ANY of the regular checkout lanes. I was in line at a regular checkout lane buying baby formula and the family in line behind me was not keeping their distance. I needed to use the card reader and asked the man in line behind me (see photo) to give me some room please. He reluctantly moved while calling me STUPID. I asked him "what did you say to me!?" The entirely family gave me dirty looks as if I had kicked their dog. How hard is it to give the person in front of you 6 ft of clearance during a pandemic? It is for your health and your family's health as much as it is for mine. I also informed the manager of this man's behavior and she had nothing to offer in terms of enforcement. The baby formula I went in to the store to buy was listed at $10.99 on the Target website as well as on the Target Circle app. In store it was marked as $12.99 and this is the price it came up as at the register. I asked for a price match (which the manager eventually honored) but only after quite a bit of back and forth. The manager kept reiterating to me that the price I was seeing was for the SJ Capitol store and they do not price match other stores. Fair enough. I asked why is yours $2 more? She cited "we're closer to the SF Bay Area so that's why the price is higher". Uhh what? You're not THAT much closer to SF than the Capitol store to warrant a 18.2% mark-up. And last time I checked SJ Capitol is still a part of the Bay Area. I was also able to show her on the Target App on my phone that the price for delivery, in-store pick-up or curbside pick-up at her SJ North store was the same ($10.99) as the Capitol store. Her phone scanner was showing her $12.99 and she simply stated "well we don't go by the Target Circle App". Uhh, okay, but the Target Circle app pulls from the Target website doesn't it? It is your company's app, is it not? I literally could have bought it from her store on my app, walked over to the counter to pick it up for the $10.99 price, and NOT had to deal with this issue. There was a 20% Target Circle offer that I also wanted to use, but she either said it was already reflected in the $10.99 price (wrong) or that they don't allow the coupon on top of the price match. Fine lady, you win. It was incredibly frustrating having her invalidate what I was saying when I could clearly show her on my phone that the price was $10.99 for all stores, online, and for delivery. I have received price matching a few times before at the Coleman and Capitol locations without having to go through this whole rigmarole with anyone. The ONLY reason I went in-store to buy this item was that I wanted to use the 20% off Target Circle offer (only allowed in-store) and I had a paper $10 rebate voucher from the manufacturer (also only usable in-store) that I wanted to use. I ended up having to pay the $0.99 difference for the item since she wouldn't allow me to use the 20% off discount. It wasn't worth the $0.99 to leave and get it at my regular store so I just went ahead and bought it. BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I BOTHER WITH THIS STORE. THIS WAS SO NOT WORTH THE HASSLE THIS MANAGER PUT ME THROUGH NOR THE RUDE MAN CALLING ME STUPID FOR ASKING HIM TO SOCIAL DISTANCE FROM ME. read more

I was willing to drive the extra 15 minutes or so to this target because it used to be well stocked and had great customer service, not anymore. Lately they seem to run out of a lot of stock on saturdays; I understand it's a busy day but sometimes it's in the grocery department and I really need an item. There's an Asian cashier in the front of the store who has fake eyelashes and always has this "lights are on but nobody's home" look in her eyes. Today she asked me to lift up a case of water on the desk so she can scan the barcode. This is weird bc every other cashier just reaches the scanner below to scan it, whatever I do what she says. Then when I'm getting my cards out to pay she snaps at me to put my bags away into my cart---um what? So you want me to do your job for you? I felt like saying but instead I said "geez ok" I'm new to the target app so I asked how do I use my 5% discount coupon and she looks at me blankly and goes "what?" At this point I start raising my voice a bit bc I'm so annoyed at being snapped at and rarely have to deal with such a foolish individual. Whenever I see that her register is open I'm going to avoid it like the plague There's another kind of rude Hispanic cashier at this place also (I see that others have mentioned her as well). Awesome staff and special kudos to Diane! I was shopping at this Target yesterday (during the pandemic) and ran into Diane stocking items. She had a nice cloth mask on and I asked her if Target sold those kinds of masks, since the normal paper ones you find in the healthcare section have been sold out everywhere for months. She said they didn't carry cloth masks but that she's a seamstress and made her own, which she was wearing. She then told me she had some others at home that she'd made and would be happy to bring a couple in for me the next day. I came back the next day and she had 2 awesome masks for me. She wouldn't even let me pay her for them even. I tried insisting, but to no avail. Lifted and carried a heavy freaking dresser all the way to the cashier. These clueless workers....have 4 of the same dressers on the sales floor, all of which are unable to sell. Who the heck does that? Where is management? I had to wait for over 30 minutes for them to figure their sh#t out. The previous rating and post was likely because I didn't have to buy any grocery items but my most recent trip was not as successful. They'd literally run out of most of their fridge grocery items and it was pretty limited to begin with. I was forced to buy things but the quality just wasn't good. Of all the items I needed, I'd come to realize they only had 1, maybe 2 maximum, of options and that was it. It was either take this or go without it, leaving me to just buy whatever they had even if I didn't want that brand or quantity. I used the self checkout and I appreciate the lady wiping down each register after use but as she saw I was almost finished with my transaction, she told the next person in line to take my register!! Hello!! I'm not even done! Can you WAIT till I'm done bagging and I'm literally walking away?!?! And when I was bagging, I had my bag on the scanner and the lady just came and started wiping things down even tho I was still there. Kinda felt like she was rushing me out. I had an order waiting for pickup at customer service so went there after. The order I got was pretty heavy so I asked for assistance. Lady said they were super short handed and to use a cart. Ok, THANKS. Only after getting in my car to leave, do I see an employee at someone else's car helping them. Short-handed huh. I absolutely love this target! It's so convenient. Its huge, very clean and nicely organized. All the employees are very helpful with good attitudes. You can literally find anything here. They have a grocery section. I have to say they sell the best cherry tomatoes. So yummy and it lasts a lot longer than Trader Joe's. I was so excited to see they were selling avocados for .65 cents each. Yaaay I bought a good amount. They are also right next to the 237 freeway. This store seems to suffer from lack of staffing. The queue at Electronics is growing, and nobody is here to help. We've tried pushing the "Need Help" several times to no avail. (The message when the button is pressed says that somebody will arrive within 60 seconds; we've been here over 20 minutes.) We've also tried asking help from Guest Services and two other staff members who have all been unable to help. The security guard up front was nice enough to put in a call for us. I suggest for electronics going somewhere else; they don't seem to have enough staffing to support the Electronics department, and a number of items require a staff member to open a glass case with a key. read more

I love Target, but this by far is my least favorite location ever. Unfortunately, this is the only one within miles of where I live so this is the one that I have to frequent the most. Even though it is at a convenient location right off 237, I would rather drive a little more out of the way to go to a different Target all together. This Target is NEVER stocked, there are so many items that they do not carry on a consistent basic. It's not like the items that I'm looking for are very obscure, I am just simply looking for some frozen veggies, Dove body wash, and Garnier shampoo. I would say these are basic necessities for a Target to carry. The store general manager even knows this as he addressed this to me when I wrote a review about my experience. The customer service here is also lacking. Many of the workers just stand around talking to each other when there are many customers to help. Plenty of them also have an attitude problem. There are a few shining star workers here and there, but they are difficult to come by. read more

I had the most amazing shopping experience at the Target on Holger Way in San Jose this evening (11/10/19). I am mostly blind and the customer service I received was above and beyond. Marco assisted me in finding exactly what I needed, checking inventory twice for my very large items. He brought them, and me to customer service and made sure I had extra help once there. Samantha and Evelyn were very pleasant and positive, ensuring I would have help to get out of the store for my ride once I was done shopping. One of the managers (with brilliant blue hair) coordinated with Matthew, who waited with me outside so I was safe while waiting for my Lyft, and then assisted in loading the vehicle. Matthew is new, but you'd think he'd been there for years providing stellar customer service. No one pointed in a direction when I mentioned I had low vision. Employees walked me wherever I needed to go or made sure someone could come to me. I've been to other Targets where employees just answer my questions by pointing in a general direction or speaking very loudly to me once I've said I'm visually impaired. As such, I haven't been to the Westgate location in San Jose for the past three years after several negative experiences there. The employees at the Holger Way Target location are always respectful and courteous. Tonight, my disability accommodations were met in every way. I often buy gift card at our nearby Target. The store is well supplied with a variety of gift cards. However, they don't print a gift card receipts confirming the amount with the card. You always need to go to customer service to receive one. Target is the only retail store I've come across that does not automatically prints the gift card receipt to confirm the amount. I like to include it when giving the gift in case there is a problem with the card especially during the holidays and gift card scams you read about. When I inquired about it and suggested that it would be good to have it automatically printed, they said it way just policy. Perhaps the policy should change. read more

I like this target as much as most of them. Thy have a wide variety of household items, electronics, clothing and toys. I get a little bit of everything from here. WARNING: Do not come here if you expect to price match any item in their store. I tried price matching Walmart.com that was shipped and sold by Walmart. They didn't honor the price that followed every part of their price matching policy. I even showed them my phone and the webpage the scrolled up and down. It was the exact same item but because it didn't come up on their little scanner they didn't want to honor it. Which in targets policy says "nothing" about having to show up on a app they personally have. The target price match policy states it can be verified other sources. So they broke their store policies. Alicia and Lupia identified as the tech department manager and store manager. Gave horrible customer service and broke the policies of their store. Even Lupia was in yoga pants and a twitch t shirt behind the counter at customer service. BOTTOM LINE: The managers here are super unprofessional and do not honor their own store policies. THE WORST TARGET THUS FAR! My wallet was stolen while shopping in the store and spoke with their security manager and she did nothing. She said she was going to check the camera but she seemed annoyed because I told her I was in the store for about an hour so it looks like she just didn't want to go through that and no disrespect but isn't that part of security description? Otherwise just removed all cameras if no one is going to look at it anyways and when I called back, all of the sudden the cameras "wasn't working" she was in a hurry to hang up even when I was speaking kindly and patient despite of my situation at the time. This made me feel unsafe to shop here and I'm a loyal customer here and for them to not help or even have empathy toward my situation was absolutely disappointing. And today, I returned some stuff and the lady at the customer service was very rude and all I was asking was if I could get a cash back and she kept cutting me off. I wasn't persistent or anything all I was saying was how come I was able to do that literally a day before and all of the sudden the "policy changed" overnight Lol. The worst part is I haven't even walked away far enough for me to not hear and she turned around and started talking crap with her coworkers about me and they were all laughing. She was also rude with the person in front of me and everyone behind me was looking at her. STEP IT UP OR LOOK FOR A JOB YOU ENJOY because this customer service ain't it. I went on my Target app and saw that this Target had a grill brush in stock. I placed my order for Drive Up pickup and the order was ready within the estimated timeframe. PARKING: LOTS of parking, the parking lot is basically all for Target. If you want shady spots then go to the right of Target. INSIDE: this Target is BIGGER than most Targets. STARBUCKS! And their buttery popcorn smells SO GOOD! I haven't tried it, but I am so tempted to try it because they cook it right by the registers so as you're checking out you can't help but smell it and want some. CASHIERS: so far every cashier I've had has been friendly and nice. The latest one was chatty friendly. I was using coupons, and she didn't seem to mind at all. One of them didn't go through, and she was nice about asking if I had used it before, which is why it wasn't working. She didn't pack my items correctly (put the ant killer spray in the same bag as my food), but she was so nice I'll let it slide. HALLOWEEN CLEARANCE: if you want some awesome Halloween finds for next year, go here the day after Halloween for 50% or 30% off some of the Halloween items! Seriously, plan ahead and get some items for next year's Halloween costumes and save some good money. Or get some cheaper Halloween decorations. SPORTS: they sell 49er gear!! We bought a #7 Kaepernick Jersey on sale! They had Warriors jerseys too, CURRY! I so wanted to buy it, but I was spending so much money already I had to resist. They have kids sizes, which is awesome because I tend to prefer to buy the size L or XL in the kids sizes to fit more like a women's S to where it's not super wide like the adult sizes. DEALS: as with every Target, use Target coupons, manufacture coupons, Target mobile coupons, Target Cartwheel app, and your Target Red card for extra 5% off and savings all together adds up. I tend to forget to scan my Cartwheel so don't forget! RETURNS: returns are so fast nowadays they just scan it and it goes back on your Red card. Awesome location right off 237 at N 1st Street, across from Chick-fil-A, Sajj, and more. Two advantages over the other Sunnyvale Target (on McKinley): 1. There's always parking available at this one. 2. It's single-story, so no need to go upstairs to shop. Besides that, it's pretty much the same shopping experience as any other Target. Sometimes products will ring up higher than the posted price (or higher than the online price), so keep an eye out if you're buying a sale item. Cashiers are happy to fix it, but you have to point it out for them. read more

They are there to help customers, stock up on items and every task that's included in working.
