The past few times I've been, both during the weekend and the week, there seems to be a perpetual level of ongoing stocking. Yay for stock, but also, lots of random boxes. I understand it isn't the employee's duty that staffing is so low, but it's a little frustrating. The sodastream stock seems to be confusing since bottles are placed regardless of the price tags and the stock itself for different flavors is sporadic. 11/19/21: I've been here a few times now. The parking lot is beyond chaotic, so I try to park far away from the entrance. People just can't drive. I don't want my car getting damaged, so that's just how I try to prevent it. The store was clean and tidy when we went in the last time. They are hiring which may be a good thing because the staff I came in contact with weren't they friendliest. We shopped for our items, found most of what we needed and more, and checked out. The cashier didn't speak except to give me the total. I stuck the card in the machine, got my receipt, and went on my way. Not the best experience, but I got most of what I needed. Social distancing is suggested with the million little feet stickers all over the floor. I won't say that I won't be back, but it won't be my top choice when I need to pick up household items. read more

This isn't my favorite Target, but it is my second favorite :) Everyone has always been nice in this store and it has more products than my favorite location on Staples Mill. I go to this location whenever I am either coming in or out of the city, need a specialty item that is carried here, or just want to browse around a bigger store. The drive up is solid. They are always out with my order within minutes of arriving (as long as I indicate on the app that I'm on my way beforehand). All the staff that I've encountered have been friendly. Target should come with a warning! Dangerous shopping overload ahead! This shopping fool loves Target! I "yielded" to my inner nesting instincts and had a blast filling my cart with all sorts of household items! I found the cutest mermaid bedding and purchased the whole kit and kaboodle! The sheets, mattress pad, pillows, pillow protectors, shams and coverlet! Don't "stop", run don't walk to this centrally located everything store! Designated as my "go to" Target, this location has friendly staff. One employee named Vonda, even held a customer's baby while she loaded up her cart! Vonda even greeted newcomers and bid me a good evening! Noooiice!! That's "one way" to ensure great customers relations! The "rest area" stays pretty tidy as an employee is assigned to check in regularly. I also picked up several grocery items that I couldn't get at Aldi, my fav grocer. I prefer Jif peanut butter and some other name brand products! The grocery section has decent prices, some are a bit higher, but worth the convenience. A few more dollars won't "Keep Out" this savvy shopper! The store in general was well organized and clean. The displays were on point! Especially the Magnolia/Hearth & Hand section! The gorgeous merchandising will make "U Turn" your head! "No Passing Zone" - don't pass by the sale racks! Check out the clearance end caps for even more savings! There's no "wrong way" to enjoy shopping at Target. You can go wild over the $1.00 items! Every department is clearly designated, men's, women's, kids, health and beauty, bath, bedding, appliances, hardware, automotive, toys, electronics, seasonal, office and school supplies and more... there's no "dead end" to the selections! (The only "road block" was in the shoe department where an employee was emptying big boxes and restocking boots. When I said "excuse me" so I could go down the aisle, she gave me a salty look and kept stocking, then stormed off leaving the boxes in the middle of the floor, I guess she should have posted a "no parking anytime" sign. But one unpleasant interchange doesn't really diminish my view of Target. It just needed to be said... ) On your "Exit" from the store, there's a snack bar and a Starbucks should you hanker for a java jolt or a nibble! Sorry, I just really dislike this Target. I'm still fairly new to living downtown so I've been feeling out my options for different stores to patronize, and the Willow Lawn location is not my first choice for Target -- even if it is the closest. I feel like I have yet to have a positive experience there. I like the Short Pump location more and that's saying something. The main issue is that they're way understaffed. It's absurd. On a Sunday afternoon, the two or three available check-out lines were down into the clothing aisles! That made it pretty limiting to efficiently pay, so we went with self-checkout (never my preference). You have to know Sundays are going to be nutty so please provide staffing to match. My mom bought a 6-pack of cider, so I knew they'd card me since I was standing there and I didn't care. But then they carded my mom too and she was pretty mad about that since it's pretty obvious she's not a teenager and she hates hunting for her license. The staffer who carded her wasn't exactly hospitable in return, and I didn't appreciate that. She could have commiserated with her a tad to show some empathy, and then I'm sure my mom would've been happier to oblige. Announcing "It's the law" is obviously accurate but not service-oriented. Beyond the service, I also don't like the layout of the store. I wish the Target brand would be more consistent in their organization in general considering it's a major brand and most folks prefer structure. I'll visit if I absolutely need to, but I'll likely favor Amazon for generic household goods moving forward. read more

This Target is on Karen Avenue. Your car will get scratched no matter if you park in the Target lot or in the Barnes & Noble Lot. Unpleasant from the minute you pull in to the minute you escape this chaos. This store has a vomit smell to it, especially in the clothing area. I will never return. The woman who used to be my common law wife and who still has access to my credit cards goes every 3 days. Wherever Rachel Ruebens goes, I want to avoid. Though I feel that her still needing me financially inspires me with hope that one day we might get back together, I'm a fool in love. This Target is dirty and sketchy, but it's one of the few threads keeping me & Rachel together. WATCH OUT for the teenagers skateboarding in the parking lot. As they drink cans covered in brown bags and smoke odd looking cigarettes, they loudly proclaim their wish to get struck by a vehicle so they could have a BIG PAY DAY LAWSUIT. Something the skateboarders have in common with Rachel Ruebens. Avoid at all cost on Valentines Day. read more

I leave my bags near the register and the employees in target just watch as incompetent employee just throw my bags in the recycling bin. A typical Richmond Target, in a convenient location. Long lines, entitled customers, and not many friendly employees. This location used to be better and has sadly declined. Tried buying something with a target gift card on my phone and the CSR had never seen one, so (even after the payment went through) she tried keeping my things and was rude because she didn't believe that it had worked. I only use this Target if I absolutely have to, but any of the other locations would be worth going to over this one. read more

Love Target but this location could use some series training. The drive up service is super helpful.. until they give you the wrong items and you spend 30 minutes trying to return said wrong items and the customer service associates are visibly annoyed with this simple request. I was on the prowl for a new addiction. A Nintendo Switch was what I needed. Me and my bestie walked around the tech department and there it was, exactly in an easy to find section. It was locked so we had to find someone to get it for us, and upon asking someone in the aisle a guy was paged to come over to the desk. He arrived promptly and ready to help! Cant remember if his name was Jerry or Jared but J man unlocked the switch clarifying which one we wanted to purchase, and unlocked something for another customer right behind us. Two birds, one stone, no problem. He then offered to check us out at the tech register, even the T-Shirts and other items we'd picked up around the store. He asked us if we were Circle members and when we said we didn't know what it was or if it was a credit card, he explained to us how it worked very clearly and easy to understand. You could tell he knew what he was talking about, he was having a conversation with us, not just reading a script to get us to sign up. He was just a joy to interact with. He had that Chic Fil A customer service attitude. After we finished he told us to have a great night, and how could we not after that? The store was very clean, the bathrooms were clean, and he even gave us a tip on getting Starbucks points! 10/10 will be back!! read more

Terrible employee at self checkout. I was carrying multiple heavy items in the ten or less cashier line near the self checkout. However, the self checkout attendant felt the need to remind me that the basket carrier was nearby while not attending to cash issues in the self checkout line. I am not able to neatly put your basket in a basket carrier several yards away when obviously shopping by myself. read more

I've loved this target for my whole life! Overall, it's wonderful (as most Targets are)! There is, however, a very sick employee in the tech section right now. He has helped me twice this week. His nose is running constantly and he can barely talk he is so stuffed up. A manager needs to tell him to go home and rest! This Target isn't bad - don't hate it but don't love it either. There is something really strange about the layout in this store and I'm not sure why - bad Feng Shui or something. Weird lighting too. I love Target. This location won me over because of the self checkout! I mean I've literally thought that the only thing that could make Target better would be a self checkout and BOOM. This location is a bit larger than many of the others in the area and it had a expansive grocery area. If you are into organic options, they do have a more than "Target" average amount of items. If you need something to do or just need to make a Target run...this is worth your time. read more

This isn't my usual target. I love target, but this one not so much. The location is good being right near Willow Lawn shopping center however, I am rating this target three stars because I was disgusted with the women's restroom. It smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in days of weeks even...so that was a big downside of my shopping experience. Another downside is the clearance rack for women's clothing. The racks were messy and didn't go by XS-XXL they were all mixed in making for an aggravating shopping experience. All in all unfortunately I probably wouldn't return to this target location. One of the upsides is self-checkout and the rest of the storm seemed to be in place minus those mishaps. read more

Stay away. At least until they finish the remodel and they tell me thats in April. Yes, April. That means six more months of the mess they they are trying to pass off as Target. Listen Target, my recommendation is to close the store until it is finished when I'm sure it'll be fabulous. But now, not so much. Things are everywhere and everywhere they aren't supposed to to be. The sales people are useless because they are busy ripping things off the shelves or reloading them in some far obscure part of the store. However, If you are able to find a sales person they will lead you in giant circles around the store to all the places you have already checked for hangers or goggles or whatever you are looking for and still won't be able to find it (this has happen to me more then once). Seriously, just go to another store until the remodel is over or your just going to get frustrated and leave without whatever you came to buy. Its no fun. read more

Was treated very poorly and disregarded by a staff member named Mika...probably not going back to this target due to poor service. I was racially profiled by a staff member! A woman in a red Target shirt literally (and quite obviously) followed me around the store for 45 minutes! It was completely unbelievable! The craziest thing about it is she couldn't have been loss prevention dressed in the Target uniform and pushing around a basket full of items. The first thing I learned in retail was to never do LP's job, and she clearly had to have been a sales associate who was NOT doing HER job. I'd call myself lucky because I have never been followed around in a store in my life (at least not to my knowledge), and it was so terribly upsetting from a store I love to shop at... I came here with a $25 gift card and the dream of getting the original Candyland from when I was a kid. Not gonna happen. Apparently the powers that be have sneakily replaced all your favorites with updated, generic versions of the same game! Its cool though, it was only $10 and still is lots of fun to play. What rocked was what happened after. Ryan C. loves to break away and look at DVDs and video games (true guy, eh?), and since he disappeared I decided to get some real shopping done. I scanned the $5 jewelry sets and got a cool bird necklace that came with earrings (didn't care about the earrings, I never wear them), then as I was wandering around trying to find the hair accessories section (they didn't have one), I passed by some hair headbands and bows in the little girl's section. Lo and behold, the last set of two flower clips hung there, which was also $5. Score! Finally, I walked over to the bath products aisle, only to find a special deal of Herbal Essences shampoo & conditioner for $5 together! Needless to say, I felt like I had made the most of my $25 gift card, and nice guy that he is, Ryan covered the 17 cents extra my total went over. The pickings were scarce though, which is exactly why it felt so cool to find so many things I wanted for $5. Also, whats up with not having a hair accessories for women section? This Target is in a good location. It's not to far from VCU, which is great for the students. Parking lot is a decent size. Can get crowded at times and kind of narrow before turning left into Target. Lighting in the parking lot can be improved, since its not well lit at night. Layout of the store is the same with the other Target locations. Some parts of the store are a bit dirty/untidy. This Target has a Pizza Hut and a Starbucks inside. I know all Targets are basically the same, but cleanliness makes an impact on appearance and presentation of a store. read more

This is my go to Target because it is nearest my home. On occasion they are out of some things I like and you can tell it gets hit hard on the weekends (shelves in the beauty/health isles can get a little ugly/messy). The staff at this target are hit or miss. Sometimes they are super friendly but most of the time they act like they would rather be somewhere else...and if you are looking for something usually the people in the isles aren't all that helpful in you finding it. However, I love the cheapness of target brand over the counter stuff and the 5% discount you get with a red card & they take money off for using your own bags...I'll pretty much always be loyal to Target for certain things like cat food etc, unless they jack up prices. read more

I actually really like this target, its 10 minutes away from where i live, and always has great clearance items. I prefer this one over the one near the short pump location. The only thing i hate about it is the parking! Man does it get crowded really fast. Also their shoe section kind of sucks always messy. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was refused a refund for two items that I had in my possession for ten minutes. The item never left the bag, nor my car. I went back to return it, and was told I would have to wait until April 27th, but not to really believe that. It's looking more like till the end of June because of Covid , with a smirk on the associates face. I tried to explain that the item was never taken out of the bag. I was then told "it is what it is" and that I would have to wait to return it. I paid cash for the items, and I am now out $50+ until Target accepts returns again. As I turn the corner, I see six Target employees gathered in a circle, laughing, and joking around right in front of the shopping carts. I had to go down a aisle then cut over to the front doors just to get out. Way to practice "social distancing"..... I contacted Corporate, explained the situation, and was told that there are "exceptions" for items being returned based on the Store Director's discretion. Funny how things change when you go above "store level". Also the women's bathroom is always disgusting! read more
