$1.50 diarrhea deal. I mean hot dog and soda deal. Now, I am a big fan of the whole cheese pizza for $10 and the soft serve ice cream, but this is the second time I've had the hot dog deal (the last time was 2 years ago) and both times I had the same unpleasant results. It tastes fine but is not digestive-system-friendly. Today was the first time I've ordered since they had instituted the new way to pickup your order. It used to be that they'd call out your ticket number when your order was ready and you pick up your order. Now, they expect you to get in a single file line (that's not roped off so no one knows where it starts or ends) and they will just hand the order to the next person in line. But no one is standing in a line. Orders don't come out as they are ordered so if there was a line some people's food would be cold by the time they got it? I'm not sure how they intend it to work but I can tell you that no one was happy. There were about 15 people waiting for orders and it has never seemed so inefficient and angry. Also, I had to clean the last available table when I sat down. It was pretty gross. I didn't see any employee cleaning the eating area in the 10 minutes I sat to eat. read more

Wow. Reviewing Costco is like reviewing a country. Where do you start? Okay, there are three things I guess I should talk about. No, four. Gas, ready-to-eat food, the rest of the store, and online. No, five.... samples. So, gas. Most of the time it is cheaper than surrounding stations. Occasionally there is gas cheaper about 5 miles away on Broad St or even at Wawa on Staples Mill. But not often, and not for long. Clearly they have spotters, or they just copy Sam's club which always has the same price as Costco. The usual difference in gas price offsets maybe 30% of the annual membership price at Costco if you have two cars, once a week. Ready-to-eat. This would include the back line of rotisserie chicken, premade salads and roll ups and such, and front line food court staples like pizzas, slices, hot dogs, and whatever that big baked wrap looking thing is. Prices for the chicken and the hot foods are amazingly good. Quality of the pizza is average, and of the chicken is great. The hot dogs are a very nice snack, and they taste good which scares me a lot. Rest of the store. There are a lot of good deals to be had. I won't call them bargains, as you usually have to buy a lot to get that good deal. And I am always a little irritated about what they have decided to stop carrying in the stores (small nitrile gloves, anyone?) that force me onto the damned website. But if you need 15 cans of tuna or a year's supply of dietary fiber supplements (god help you) this is a great place to get your fix. Just make sure you have available freezer space for the chicky nugs or attic storage for all those paper towels. Samples. What clever bast ards these folks are. Yes, I eat the samples. Yes, I tend to go to Costco in the middle of the day when they have the MOST samples. And yes, though I am an educated (fat) man, I tend to buy at least one or three things they are sampling. Hence the need for the freezer space. Online. They suck. Hard to search, hard to figure out if they have something or not, hard to figure out if it is cheaper or even available in the store. Not customer friendly. And because they have moved so many things to website only that were previously available in the stores, this is especially irritating. This alone costs them a star. So Costco is 4 stars, maybe 3.5 TBH. But so much better than the S-club up the street. Oh, wait. Make that 7 things to rate them on. Great staff, AMPLE STAFFING, fast check out. But crappy parking and traffic control. Customers leaving the store are always in peril. And parking is a nightmare, period. read more

While in rehab from the stroke whose complications eventually ended his life, he clamored to go to Costco for his first outing after getting the all-clear from his doctor. We actually have photos of him leaning against an oversized Costco cart, declaring that it was easier to use than the walker he was prescribed. Now, years later, it's my mom's favorite place to shop. I wanted to buy her a gift card for Christmas, but that privilege is extended only to members. So what's a body to do but join Costco by buying a membership via Groupon via Ibotta for $15.20 (8% off in Ibotta for a Groupon that included a $40 Costco digital shop card)? My first impression was not good. The man checking IDs at the door has a bright future in any number of fascist regimes that seem all the rage these days, and the man who registered me couldn't have acted more annoyed, though he was genuinely trying to help by finding a way for me to buy a gift card without joining. Still, it's saying something that I find the staff at the Lombardy Kroger to be friendlier than those who are well known to be so much better compensated. Worse than the staff were the other customers. The parking lot was an unnecessarily thrilling parkour of inattentive stunt driving that correlated to cart behavior in the store. Then again, it was only days before Christmas, so I'll have to return on a day when shoppers are less frenzied. On my power walk through the aisles, I was dismayed by the excess and unsustainability. Even the vaunted food court was unappealing, and not just because it was so crowded, as it seems to specialize in cheap calorie bombs. The best thing about this Costco thus far seems to be its proximity to Asia Market, which is full of surprises and good vibes, despite the Christian rock. I'll stop there as a palate cleanser when I unload my $40 gift card at Costco on a more typical day. It's Costco, where you can get most anything you may need (and lots of stuff you don't need). I've been a Costco member for years. This location is close to where I live, but getting in and out of the parking lot is kind of a hassle. The store layout feels a bit cramped as well, especially when you're ready to check out. Although the self checkout line can be long, it typically moves pretty fast. I've been using Costco pharmacy for years as their prices are much better than other options around (your membership gives you a discount there as well). It's a bit frustrating that the pharmacy closes so early and isn't open on Sundays, but not enough to make me switch to another pharmacy. They always have great food selections, fresh, refrigerated, and frozen, and their bakery is great for special occasion cakes. My trick is to visit Friday nights around 7pm as I've found that's usually the least busy time of the week. read more

This is a review of the tire center. I got new tires from another Costco location near my home state. I have been in this area for work for several weeks and got a flat. The tires were purchased in the last five months. I made an appointment for a tire repair. Once I arrived, there was no line. I was pleasantly pleased because I stood in line at my home Costco for over 30 minutes. I was checked in and asked how long would be the estimated wait time. I was told one hour. So I went across the street to the Applebees to have lunch. As I was walking back to the tire center an hour later, I got a call that my car was ready. Service was friendly and good. I couldn't believe that when they said it would be an hour, it really was an hour. It took four hours back home and that was also with an appointment. Since the tires were under warranty, I was not charged at all for the repair. read more

I was (many years ago) a member of Sam's Club in Charlottesville. It was good value but a depressing experience to shop there, and I didn't really care for many of the choices they made regarding which items to stock. Costco opened a store in Charlottesville, and it's night-and-day better. The food choices are excellent... produce, fresh fish, and many items that I like better than the regular market brands. As well there are hardware and popular electronics like Nest, Bose, Apple, garage shelving, kitchen and bathroom fixtures... on and on. Check their web site. Meanwhile, having moved to Richmond a few years ago, I use the old Costco on Broad Street. It's smaller than I was used to, and it's got its problems with parking and occasional gas lines, but believe me... it's not bad. You should see the line at the Venice Beach Costco. The people in Richmond are very friendly (not sure what happened to some of these reviewers there, but there could be some Karen-energy being used against the Costco folks). I've always found the staff in every Costco I've visited (both RVA locations, Cville, and Los Angeles) to be very friendly and as helpful as one could expect in a warehouse-store like this. The gas prices are excellent, and if you use their Visa card you get even more cash back at the end of the year... definitely pays back more than the member fee costs. The pharmacy is great. Eye exams and eye glasses are both excellent and spectacular value (see what I did there?). I'd like to invite cranky shoppers to avoid Costco and all the other places I shop. Thank you. read more

I'm from Northern California and they had most of the same fare here with some food items which I guess are unique to this area. Meat and fresh food prices are definitely cheaper here. By a lot! You just never know what you might find during a shopping excursion at this members-only warehouse. I typically come here for bulk household necessities like paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent, Costco routinely sends out coupon books with extra discounts on these items. But in the summer I love to cook on my grill so I take advantage of some of the deals on NY strips and even ribs. That being said, I have also stumbled upon some other great deals on items I need and might not go to Costco specifically to buy. My recent trip I bought a pair of Speedo shoes for my water aerobic classes, I had been looking for a replacement pair but had not been able to find a pair I liked. Boom! There they were for $19.99. I once bought a favorite pair of Sketches there, also an awesome Zaza lunch tote for just $10. So, from bulk household goods, to vitamins, batteries, furniture, toys, clothes, cameras, jewely...Costco has it all. Another reason I like this place is the employees are almost always friendly. Just returned from Costco only to realize I forgot the Yogurt It was a fruitful trip. While the aisles were packed with snow scared moms and dads the staff handled it with ease. I had to steer my cart watching out for panicked shoppers hoping to get the last of ..... whatever they wanted. The masked staff dipped through the crowd replenishing, removing empty boxes and answering questions as if it was a mild day. The cashier lines, which I feared, were fast and trouble free. No one needed to sneak into tight gaps or apologize for their children that were holding places. Just quick an efficient. Now the parking lot is a whole different circle of hell. Between the low gas prices, the twisted labyrinthine of parking spots and the lack of clear pedestrian traffic flow it was hectic. People were driving their cars as carelessly as their grocery baskets. My trick is to park on the outside near the auto repair. There is a cart return, and no traffic. I can walk alongside the building instead of parting the Red Sea of SUVs. I will return next week to get my fresh, sushi grade fish for our Friday Night Date Dinner. read more

Went to this location today for the first time and I gotta say *sighs* it wasn't the best experience. I'll be honest I'm a newbie at being a Costco member, just got my card today. I mean it was just way too crowded and maybe because it was an early Saturday afternoon, which makes sense but man I almost got ran over by some idiot speeding in the parking lot. The customer service was great however, and everyone was super nice when I asked for help, the store itself was difficult to navigate, I mean where were the signs telling me which aisle has which items lol?? This place is waaay too big not to have a better way to find what you need without having to wonder aimlessly like I did. Well this was my first Costco experience so maybe I'm the problem, since I'm use to Publix and Kroger, lol but I was pretty overwhelmed. As I entered into the Costco, I wanted to get a slice of pizza. So I walked over to the food kiosk where I was ignored multiple times then by the time somebody came over they told me I had to go wait in a line which didn't exist. The people working the food kiosk we're probably some of the worst people I've come across, extremely rude and disrespectful. I would hope that supervisors or managers would take action to correct this. I WILL NOT be coming back into this Costco ever again. This is for the tire center and there insurance company Gallagher Basset. I went in November to get new tires on my truck. I had new black rims about 6 months prior to the install. I detailed my truck and tires, removed my plastic center caps to avoid damage and dropped my truck off. After picking up the truck and while I was putting on the caps in the parking lot I noticed the rims were scratched. All four of them in the same spot on 3 of the 4 rims. Immediately spoke to the manager and filed a claim. They were very non chalant and stand-off about it and said it looked like "curb rash" which it wasn't. Fast forward to there useless insurance company. The claim person left me a partial claim number, incorrect email on his voice mail and didn't spell his last name so it was impossible to reach out to him. I had to call several times to customer service to get his info but he never returned calls. After multiple calls, them not returning calls, multiple people not helping I finally got a manager to review the pictures to no avail. There response was "we can't prove it was service related." I said well you can't prove it wasn't service related either. "No response". They even said it didn't look like curb rash but the tires have never been serviced or rotated until Costco. They ignored that the spots were in the same location and had marks on the tires as well in the same spots. Never again Costco. read more

One of the employees that was working around 6pm on 2/9/21, threw a box at me where I was standing infront of the cashier where you can pick out the empty boxes. He knew that i was standing there, looking for some boxes but still he threw that box to me without any apology. I love Costco! It may be an unhealthy love but I love the employees, I love the products, I love the gas station, I love the free samples, I love the hot dogs! I will say though that every time I have visited this particular Costco it is ALWAYS packed and I have gone at different times on different days. Maneuvering through the aisles can be a bit frustrating and the lines are long but in my opinion it's worth the effort. The store is always clean and I have never had an issue getting help when needed. I think the customer service is exceptional and customer satisfaction on returns is phenomenal. This review is for the Tire Center only. We brought four new tires from Costco for our SUV for $830 installed (this includes a current $70 rebate)! When I asked the car dealer if they could match the price, they told me they couldn't even give me the tires for that price. Hello, no brainer! Costco was fast and pleasant to work with. The only downside is there isn't a good outdoor waiting area (it is a bench facing the sun) and the indoor waiting area smells like rubber (sigh, headache), so you are "forced" to go shop inside...sneaky, huh? But, by the time I bought and enjoyed a $1.50 hotdog and drink, my tires were ready! Thanks to Costco we saved $400 on a set of tires. Yay! read more

Better of the two Costcos in the area IMO. Depending on the time of day during the weekend, the lines here can be a nightmare. There doesn't seem to be much organization to keep everyone splintering off to other checkout lines to try to keep things moving. The employees are all very warm and welcoming and super helpful. We've had to return a couple of items like protein shakes that have congealed (gross, I know). Quality of items are also great! The bakery items are always soft and fresh. The premade foods like salads are also fresh and taste great. Definitely worth the trip over for salads! Haven't tried the Costco gas so can't speak to that. read more

We joined Costco last year and have never looked back. I love how easy it is to return things- forgot your receipt? That's ok. Used half of the detergent before realizing it gives your husband an allergic reaction? Still refundable. Of course, most people shop here for the deals. We know which items we come to frequently purchase that are the best deals - organic eggs, 8 packs of beans, almond milk, organic rice. But lately the BEER selection has featured Richmond brewers and special releases and we just love that so much. Typical cons are going at the wrong time and lines. I'm a member of Costco, Sam'sand BJs. I love Costco. The others are just okay. Costco is a destination and a fun experience, the others are a chore. It's like the difference between Walmart and Target. The snack bar at Costco is interesting, fresh and yummy. The others are the opposite. Don't think BJs even had one. Only complaint is today I got honeycrisp apples at Costco and I started eating before washing. I licked the skin snd csn taste the pesticide on it!!! Bet it's the same in the other clubs also since apples are usually one of the more heavily sprayed foods. read more
