Not a great experience on my first visit to a Hobby Lobby. I was on a mission to get in and out. Felt like walking into a Home Depot except Home Depot at least has a handy app to tell you what aisle something is on. On a positive note, I did need to stop by the fabrics section with a question. This person admitted to me they weren't great on the given topic but showed me some fabrics in case I wanted to look. Polite and she walked me over instead of just pointing. That's good. I walked around for a bit looking for the next two things I needed. Not an employee in sight to ask. I finally decided to just buy the things I had in hand. They had a single register open and one open for returns. There were about 20 people in front of me and the line was moving very slowly. What I didn't understand, two gentleman employees were standing in front of the register area, not making eye contact with anyone, and just stood there. One had a bunch of tags around his neck so he looked like some sort of manager. He slinked away, then would slink back. Never make eye contact, didn't open a new lane, then he'd shuffle back off. Took forever just to check out. Based on that experience today, I'll likely stick to ordering off Amazon and just being patient. Not impressed. read more

Love this store, only thing wrong is how slow the cashiers work. Every time I go here the line is so long . Everyone is in slow motion. Even when they go to get change they walk so slow and don't even think anyone is even standing there waiting. They need to put a few younger ones at cashier or open more lines. This is the land of everything under the sun! Wow! Move over A.C. Moore and Michael's... Hobby Lobby is in town! Don't get me wrong, I like those other craft/hobby stores, but this place is Crafts on crack... übermegahumongous!! And it's not just crafts: scrapbook supplies (this is the place to come for hard to find stickers!), yarn, paints, wood working, jewelry making, floral, baking supplies etc., it's so much more! There is a huge home goods/wall art section, a lovely wedding/events selection, a funky furniture area, and an extensive fabric department (a quilter's paradise-JoAnn's can move over too!). It's like all your favorite stores rolled into one!! You really have to see it to believe it! Don't forget to check out the clearance area in the back and check their site for coupons! They always have great savings in addition to their already good prices! I'm not crazy about the traffic in Short Pump, so shop on an off day! Now on to my next project!! read more

We got great service. We first were assisted by a gal who was learning the framing process. She was very good with mat and frame choices. Then the department head happened to be there and helped her and us with the measuring of the mats and frame using their super software. It's so great to visualize the mat colors on the screen. One improvement could be a few more color selections. We were considering a green mat, but the ones offered weren't exactly what we wanted. We took a different color combination, not using green. Although all framing is expensive, it's a way to conserve art work. read more

I am all about having a place to go when I need to get Crafting supplies and Hobby Lobby has it all. The store is massive and the inventory is overwhelming. Where Hobby Lobby loses me is that they have these massive aisles crammed to capacity with all kinds of crap but no signage to indicate what's on each aisle. So instead I ended roaming around the store aimlessly trying to find what I needed. Even the employees who worked there seemed lost dazed and confused. I think with a few tweaks this place could be amazing they just need to work on a more organized floorplan and signage to support that. read more

Imagine if Michaels increased their inventory by half and took the place of an average Kroger size; wait it actually did! I mostly come here for their arts and crafts section, in particular I usually buy: card stock, stickers, photo album and card making accessories. I love making my gf special little things and Hobby Lobby has an extremely extensive selection of this and much more. This place also carries: floral arrangements, small furnishings, paint/art supplies, frames, blankets, rugs, popular holiday/season items and much much more. If you have some creative juices flowing and you don't know what to do, come to this place and let your imagination run wild. I frequently visit hobby lobby for various paper crafting, mixed media and planner supplies. They used to be better with stocking on new collections quickly. However, in the past few months it has been very unorganized and slow. One of the Bible journaling displays I was hoping to pick up a few items from has been half set up for a month now. I swing by at least once a week to check since I work close by. They also have boxes of items randomly along the the shelves that blocks you from looking at certain products. This has also been like that for months. I feel like they need a better system to stock items and keep the store organized. On a positive note, the cashiers are friendly and they do have good clearance craft items. If you don't live nearby I suggest calling ahead of time to make sure the specific item you are looking for is there before making a trip! read more

Some cute stuff, but priced double what it's worth. Everything is then marked down every other week. Never pay full price or your really being ripped off. Larger furniture is priced high, and 30% off all the time, so just a gimmicks! On my last visit they had a flower arrangement in the front window marked down. I took to the counter to leave while I shopped, and the cashier said that price is just the vase, not the flowers in it. Really? Apparently I was not the first to try to buy it because she knew what to tell me as soon as I put it down. After that, I went to the 75% off clearance isle. The posters said 75% off marked price. Each item had a red sticker with price, but as I found out the fine print said that the red sticker was already 75% off. Short Pump, VA Store -- My experience has been that many of the sales associates cannot bother to greet you much less assist! Today, I asked a sales associate if a particular item was on sale. She answered my question, however never even looked my way (HOW RUDE :-(. I mean never turned her head toward me...all I saw was the back of her head. I have been in this store (Short Pump) at least four times, and I have experienced this with at least three visits. So, I am finished. Customer Service means a lot to me...so, I will spend my money at another craft store. Apparently, Hobby Lobby doesn't want it! read more

Hobby Lobby is a crafter's dream store. Seriously, that's the best way I can describe it. Looking for decorative home accents? They've got it. Need acrylic paint in every color under the sun? Sure, they've got you covered. How 'bout faux flowers and fabric and frames? Check, check, and check. Does this sound a bit like Michael's? That's 'cause it's similar. But Hobby Lobby offers more in the way of finished products and perfect party decor. And honestly, I think it's easier to navigate than the M store (although I'm a fan of it, too) and probably carries more unique project pieces and kits. This weekend I was in a creative mood and I made glitter coasters, placemats with a modern geometric painted design, a wreath, and personalized napkins. And all of my supplies came from Hobby Lobby! The store is pretty massive, but the staff is really helpful and I appreciated that they were more than prepared for the holiday crowds. I waited in line for less than a minute before it was my turn to check out. They aren't open on Sundays, which is a real bummer if you brainstorm a brilliant craft project on Sunday morning. Best craft store in the world. THE BEST. As I describe this place to everyone, I say, "It's like Michael's, AC Moore, Kirklands, HomeGoods, all had an orgy and had a big baby." Seriously. The place is heaven for any crafter. You can't come here and NOT find what you are looking for - paints, paper goods, fabric, home decor, stuff for weddings, seasonal decor. Literally - you name it, they've got it. I'm sure that even those who are not crafty, will find something here! I'm am BEYOND excited that there is one being built in Virginia Beach, as we are moving back. Forget the other stores, this is THE GO-TO spot for any crafting or DIY projects you have. Staff is always friendly. If you shop here regularly, it is so worth downloading the Hobby Lobby app- you will have an eternal 40% off coupon (off one regular priced item. Finally got around to checking this place. I love stores like this, though it can be overwhelming at first. I've made two trips so far because there is just too much to take in! They really have something for everyone. Cute mirrors, artwork, Christmas stuff (which was already on sale), craft items, and the list goes on and on.The prices are decent (with numerous sales throughout the store) and when I needed assistance, the staff was helpful and friendly. The prices are right (there is always a sale!) and they have decor for any kind of theme you're going for. There is also an extensive craft section. I love Hobby Lobby! It tends to be my go-to craft store because it has literally EVERYTHING you could want. Be it something for a upcoming DIY project, kid's school project, or decorating needs, Hobby Lobby will have something for everyone. I particularly love their home decor section. They have wonderful nick-nacks to help decorate, plus great wall hangings, art, and mirrors. They cycle sales every week and mark items down to 50%, so I usually check on Mondays to see what is in the new ad, and if its something I can't wait for, their app gives you 40% one item (item can't be on sale that week). I've been known to visit multiple times to use the app. :) AND, if you need anything for Christmas, check them out! They start unloading the Christmas materials in late July/early August, and by late September, are in full swing. Crazy? Maybe. But it doesn't take away from the fact that they have amazing Christmas decor, wrapping paper, etc. I bought a beautiful garland several years ago that I still love. My only qualm is the hours they are open. I have come to accept the "Closed on Sundays", but closing at 8pm each day sometimes throws a wrench in my planning. read more

Hobby lobby is a great store for crafts, and this location is always well staffed at the registers for purchases and returns. However, due to the treatment received by your customer service front end reps, I will not be spending anymore of my money here. My original purchase was 11/20 for $53. I noticed the cashier's attitude changed when I walked up. My experience with Darcy L was nothing like her previous customer. I got a hello, but that's about it. The rest of the transaction was cold. Her: older white woman, Me: black woman. It seemed like my presence was an issue, but I thought no more of it when I purchased my items. However today I had to return 1 of the items and got Barbara M. Barbara was pleasant. I approach with my unused item and receipt. Barbara glanced receipt and item as if something was wrong, then asked her co-worker if it was theirs. Her coworker quickly said yes after nothing more than a glance. That's when Barbara said "I see it on here, but I had to make sure." I'm thinking make sure What? I felt accused of repackaging a false item for return. The item was $5.99 and scanned in with no issue. The small item I was returning required a complete inspection and confirmation??? If all returned item were inspected that way there would be no issue, but there is definitely an issue. I've been spending money left and right at hobby lobby and Michael's. I'm going to stick with Michael's. Employees there always treat me like a person, with care, respect, and light conversation. I appreciate that. read more

My last visit to Hobby Lobby was very disappointing! I needed a pinewood derby car set and accessories for my sons cub scouts race. And instead of buying what I needed online, which I should have done, I made the mistake of going to Hobby Lobby. I bought a derby car, weights, decals, glue, a cheap scale, paint and a coping saw. All of that was over $90 ridiculous, after I already thought this store is over priced. When I got home and started working on the car I realized the super glue was dried up, the decals wouldnt stick to the car. And worst of all the weight scale was off a complete ounce. Which is critical when making one of these cars. Not only are they extremely overpriced, their products are extremely poor as well. read more

Stopped by this morning for four picture frames. Found what I was looking for and got in line at a register. The cashier then informed me that it was for employees only. No sign was posted. Two employees that were not working were in line. I will not visit Hobby Lobby again. Never make a customer wait to take their money. read more

A couple of weeks ago, my fiancé brought me to this store for the first time. I had never been in a Hobby Lobby but have done crafts, art, sewing, and yarn work all of my life. I was so beyond impressed with not only the store itself and everything they carry, but the thing that made me so happy was how genuinely sweet the employees are! I don't look like the crafting/sewing/knitting/crocheting type; I have lots of piercings, and I wear dark makeup and clothes. Usually I get looked at strangely in craft stores, sometimes even followed around because they think I'm going to steal. This was not the case at this Hobby Lobby then, or on my second visit today. I feel so comfortable here...I just wish some of the customers could be as nice as the employees. Thank you to the staff at this Hobby Lobby for making it such a warm and welcoming environment, even for the people that look just a little bit different, like me! :) You've got my business from here on out! read more

I have bought a lot from Hobby Lobby over the years and I do love their products. But the customer service I experienced yesterday and this morning over the phone made me never want to shop there again. I found a wood console table online that I loved! Instead of ordering it and having to put it together I was hoping it might be at the store (Short Pump). I went there and couldn't find it so I asked an employee if they could find it for me with the SKU #- at first the lady blew me off and said "that's a seasonal item, we don't have that here." I'm sure I made an irritated face because I could not believe that was the response I got- I think she sensed I was displeased and showed me a table that she had that was similar. She also told me to check other stores. So this morning I called a different location (Mechanicsville) to give them the description and SKU # to see if they had it- I was on hold for over 10 minutes, spoke with 4 seperate people, had to repeat myself every time and 3 of the employees had the same dismissive attitude: "Mam can you describe the table better? We have 800 pieces of furniture here." Pardon me but I've worked in many retail stores and the SKU # should be enough- but I described the table multiple times and finally the lady said the same thing the Short Pump lady told me (seasonal item, ran out of them) OK thats fine- then this employee said "If the item online does not say "sendable item" we don't have it in the store." WELL GREAT BUT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT? They were all extremely rude and hopefully the website will be changed to be more informative. Terrible service. read more
