Temporarily closed as of this posting (11/28/2020). Normally a great, clean store to go to.

Considering that there are only two other yarn stores in the greater Richmond area, it's nice to know that there's something for everyone if you're in Richmond proper. You may also find a range of customer service. The first time I went in, I felt very welcomed by the staff members and they answered all of my questions. I was happy to make my purchase. This is what prompted me to return. The second time I went in, the staff member at the register was chatting with an exiting customer about the election. I don't mind a political disagreement or difference but I do mind vindictive racially charged whispers. If your hand is over your mouth as you gleefully lean into your inner mean girl, a part of you knows that what you said isn't entirely classy. Your candidate winning does not excuse bad manners or a lack of decorum. However, it's low form to wish the losing candidate ill, and to hope that they go back to the hole they crawled out of. Wow. It just goes to show that age is not associated with class. Folks are entitled to their opinions, but if you're a staff member hoping to make a sale, it's probably best to keep that under wraps or at least away from your workplace. Not classy, not demure, not mindful at all, and definitely not the kind of behavior that would make America great ... at any point. Note: I do not believe that this staff member reflects the entirety of the others. I do think that, had it not been the day after the election, this person may have been less likely to be less mindful of others in the store. That said, big moments in history do reveal our true character, and I hope this staff member takes the time to be more empathetic and aware of their surroundings the next time they are at their workplace.

I saw an online advertisement yesterday for a certain product at Michaels located at Willow Lawn,…read moreRichmond, VA. When at the store, I could not find the product and asked an associate for help. The associate was in a completely different department and very busy. However, he stopped, directed me to where the product SHOULD be. Not finding it, he took the time to go to the back storage, again, coming back empty handed. Before I knew it, he had accessed a ladder....went down various aisles, looking in boxes stored high up and labeled with only SKU codes. Still nothing. At this point, I politely let him off the hook by thanking him; but he persisted. After at LEAST 15 mins of dogged searching, the product was found! The associate at the Willow Lawn was named RICK. He very well could have been the manager? I have NEVER EVER seen such dedication to customer care and wanted to take the time to give this review in hopes that someone at that location shares this with him.

I can see lights on inside and when I call the phone does nothing but ring. So is the power out or did whoever was working this afternoon just decide to go home. As I sat there trying to call inside the store, at least 6 separate customers walked up only to turn away when they saw the sign.... Pretty ironic that none of the other businesses on either side of the Michaels had power out... I hope that whichever associate was working this afternoon got a nice lunch break in l o l

We had a lot of fun and made some really delicious food! The classroom space itself is large, with multiple prep areas, storage, and teaching table. There is a dining table that seated twelve (our class was 10.) You are greeted with water and the option to purchase beer or wine by the glass or bottle. After a quick walk through you form teams of three or four and set about preparing the entire menu (in other words, it is NOT one station prepping the main course while another group is limited to boiling pasta.) All the mis-en-place has been set out so all the measuring is already done, but the rest is hands on mixing, cooking, plating, etc. The instructor orally delivers instructions and walks around to catch anything going astray. The class was two hours long. Our menu was on the theme "Italian Classics." Items to be prepared were Chicken Piccata, Artichoke Bruschetta, Bucatini in Creamy Pecorino Sauce, and Chocolate Budino. I won't review the food -- it would be a review of our own cooking -- but I will say that preparing it was easy with guidance and tasted absolutely delicious! Each work group eats their own prepared food but at a communal table. The crew also boxes up anything extra that is left from your prep., like extra bruschetta topping or leftover pasta, to be divided up as each work group sees fit. And I didn't have to wash dishes! My wife is the chef in the family, I am never going to cook at her level. But this class was not beyond my abilities and made me completely at ease. Can't wait to go back for other classes here!
