Target usually makes for a fun shopping trip. This one in Mechanicsville left me ambivalent. On one hand, it's Target and I love their merchandise. On the other hand, some of the employees weren't helpful. I went in with a handicapped person, and there were no mobile carts. When I mentioned it to an employee, she just shrugged. Then I said I was going to check with customer service and she suddenly goes, oh, I think there are some outside and goes to get while while we are standing there. Another employee though was very helpful in the small appliances department. Ok good, getting better. Not for long... our check out clerk leaned over to scan an item and clocked my handicapped friend in the eye with the scanner. I'm telling you, it was like a roller coaster in there. The restrooms were not clean... but then again, I got a $5 coupon for buying some healthcare products... see? Back and forth... Total ambivalence! This Target needs to step up their game. read more

Target - So much to see at Target! - Department Stores Near Me - Mechanicsville, Virginia

I'm over a month late getting this review in but I had to go to Target to pick up dog crates that were on sale. I trap cats for spay and neuter and caught three very sick kittens and needed crates to separate them and care for them. Becky, at Target, went into the back of the store to find the size I was looking for because they didn't keep it on the floor and brought it to me. It was nice to have someone provide fast service and willing to go the extra mile. read more

I normally don't like to venture away from my normal Target because I love it so much, but when I was in the area I decided I'd just stop in anyway. It was a good time! No complaints here. I had fun with my son picking out birthday gifts for his friend. This seems similarly set up to the Willow Lawn target. It's a bigger store with lots of inventory. Can't go wrong! read more

I have the misfortune of purchasing a home that's within walking distance to Target and now I'm hooked! The Cartwheel app, friendly staff and Prime location are all reasons I choose to make Target runs....sometimes twice a day. This location has a Starbucks and family restroom, which isn't always the cleanest but its available. They have huge carts which my kids affectionately refer to as "The Limo Cart" and a plethora of really cute things I dont actually need!! Newer target. Spacious. Found what I was looking for. The checkout was convenient.

I went to self check out and mistook a tag in the cart for the pillow I was trying to buy's tag. It called an employee over to help me cancel the transaction. The woman who helped just snapped "I'm too old for this" and when I tried to explain the pillow didn't have a tag on it she snatched it from me, scanned something, threw it back at me and left. I had to get another employee to cancel the other tag. It was a tag for shorts and he was nice and I understand the concern about stealing, but I genuinely mistook that tag for the tag for the pillow. He kept asking where the shorts were and I didn't know cause that tag was just chilling in the chart and I mixed it up. I wasn't buying shorts. I get paid to handle grumpy elderly people at work, never once have I been rude to a customer, but I wasn't the one on the clock this time. So what's up? read more

This store is never stocked well. I can go in there on any given day and there are NEVER any cashiers to check you out. I ask every time where they are and every time I am told that they are on break. If I have to check myself out then Target needs to pay me a salary and give me an employee discount! read more

Not a fan of the Starbucks in this Target or the store itself. The people working at the Starbucks counter don't seem to be very happy or consistent in their service. It's almost like they are filling in for someone on break and would rather be elsewhere. This Target store is often higher in price on items that can be found for a lot less elsewhere. For example, I found an item that Target was selling for 15.99. Home Depot, next door, had the same thing for 6.99. This has happened at least three times in the past three months. I will continue to shop here because I like the way Target displays their merchandise and it's close to home but I will price check before I buy or return it if I find a better deal elsewhere. read more

On the way to DC a little Target is tucked away in the back part of a shopping complex. Were you looking for the Starbucks? Yup, it's in here and they take Starbucks cards! Very clean and we had to use the bathroom so I was able to scope that out as well. Clean too! Very impressed, lots of parking but a little hard to find. read more

For the first time last week I ordered my items online and then went in store to pick them up. My son had a stomach bug so this was extremely convenient. The staff at customer service were extremely efficient and friendly. The process was very fast, and everything was perfect. As a single mom anything that can save time is a plus. I went into this Target for some items and for a Promotion going on for the Detective Pikachu movie. They are supposed to have a QR code you scan to obtain special Pokémon in the video games along with other rewards. On the official Pokémon Pass app it says the promotion is going on in ALL Targets from May 11th to June 23rd. I asked an employee after a failed attempt in finding the QR code and he explained to me that they have taken down all of the Detective Pikachu promotional displays. I am very disappointed that they are not honoring the promotion duration and not putting the customers first. In the future I will be driving further out of my way to shop at a different Target. read more

I thought you might like to know why I won't be shopping at Target any more. I went into my Mechanicsville Target this morning with a long shopping list. On the way in I found I needed to use the restroom. There were no paper towels and no other way to dry my hands. I left the rest room and found a roll of brown paper towels at the end of a check lane. As I dried my hands, I was accosted by an "associate" who told me very firmly that I was not allowed to use those paper towels. I told him there were no paper towels in the rest room. He then asked me WHICH rest room. I do not look like a man. Then he wanted to interrogate me on how I used the paper towel machine. Did I try harder? Did I try both machines? Did I turn the little knob on the side? Was I SURE there was no paper in the machine? ALL THIS OVER A LITTLE PIECE OF PAPER TOWEL? At this point I realized that Target does not need my business. Since retiring and moving to this area I have been shopping at the Target for many household items. I do my shopping early in the day and really like coming to this store because there are usually young mothers with their children shopping at this time also. It is a real pleasure for me to see the babies and the toddlers, and it is a good time for them to be out when the aisles are clearer. I have never encountered anything but good service and good manners from the checkout employees. Shopping here has been a totally positive experience. read more

I am a frequent customer of this store and have always had a good experience when shopping there. Generally my business there is to purchase childrens items such as clothes, toys, and electronic games because they carry a nice selection and oftentimes very decent prices. The employees are always available, knowledgeable, and helpful. I really appreciate the Starbucks in the store and enjoy a latte every visit. The recent cyberbullying of an employee is an unfortunate situation but plays no role whatsoever in how often I shop at Target. In fact, it may bring me there even more often in support of the store and its employees. read more

The Target store itself is fine. Very convenient, good selection, competitive prices, etc. The customers that often frequent there are another matter. I thought Walmart was miserable with young "mamas" dragging their rugrats along. This one may even be worse. Every time, and I do mean EVERY time, I go in this store, someone's little brat is screaming because he/she can't have what he/she wants. This is not the manager's or staff's fault. They cannot control the behavior of their customers. I have come close to losing it in there and getting carted off to jail for assault and battery. Shopping there would be so much more pleasant if we didn't have to put up with this crap. Be warned you might leave here in a p***d mood if you feel the way I do. read more

I love target, I mean who doesn't tbh?! This target sits in a busy location on Bell Creek Road across from BJ's Wholesale and next to Home Depot. Target always has great deals (even better when you have a Red card & use the Cart Wheel app). This location is pretty organized for the most part. At this location there is a Starbucks and Pizza Hut in the front of the store. If you're in Mechanicsville ever this is one of the best targets in RVA in my opinion. Only downside is I feel like they never have enough cashiers at the registers. Maybe this location should consider getting some self-checkout areas. read more

Clean store, friendly employees, typical Target. Phamacists very helpful. The cafe usually has a bell to alert the employee there is a customer waiting . This is usually during the week when the store is less busy. Temperature of the store is ALWAYS HOT. Please TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING or turn back the heat. read more

I visit this store at least weekly - always clean and a friendly staff is always available to help. My daughter loves getting a sticker from Mr. Nick or "Santa Claus" as she calls him. Also, the folks in the toy and electronic departments are wonderful! Always willing to check in the back if something is not on the shelf or help me if I just can't find something. I don't know what I would do if our Target wasn't so great because our Walmart is quite the opposite! read more

When I was pregnant, my parents decided to purchase a crib & dresser for us as their baby gift. I found a set that I liked at Target, but when my mom & I went to the Mechanicsville store to purchase it, they were out if stock. Jess in customer service spent quite a while on the phone with the Laburnum Ave store, who had it in stock & agreed to hold it for us until we got there to pick it up. I continue to shop at both of these Targets because of their excellent customer service! read more
