Soooooo disappointed!! Black stain discovered at delivery --- WORSE YET was the way the fabric was not pulled tight and bunched up on one of the arms -- the other arm was smooth. Whats worse is the owner called me and had the nerve to tell me that I was being too picky. She also said to me that I chose a low budget piece -- an extra small chaise for $1400 is not all that cheap by the way and that insinuated the I was expecting too much for that kind of money WOW REALLY?! I own lazyboy (perfect!) and also have a beautiful sofa from Havertys I bought for 1100.00 and its perfect. I was refunded back my deposit and cancelled the order. Not a huge store. Not a vast selection. But the service is attentive without being pushy, and the products are made to order with literally hundreds of fabrics to choose from. They also have a few fabric headboards that caught my eye. Not sure if I'll end up getting something from here, but I'll definitely keep this store in mind. We bought a sofa and chair over 16 years ago when my second child was an infant and oldest a toddler. We still have these pieces and are looking to get another sofa or 2. These pieces were our only seating due to a small house. They have gone through, and still going through, two kids and 2 large dogs. We love the washable covers and the cushions have kept their shape for the most part. Definitely recommend. Only down fall is we had to replace covers after a couple of years. We chose wrong fabric and color for little kids. That is on us. read more

After hearing some rave reviews about Sofa Creations, we finally decided to head in. We were looking to furnish two rooms, and needed sofas that were high quality while still being affordable. We had exhausted so many other options in RVA (any furniture store/department store you can name, we were there), and honestly were losing hope that we would find anything reasonable. From the second we walked in, we knew we were going to support this local business. Everyone was so friendly and so personable, that we felt really comfortable with our experience. No one was pushy, and they let us browse around for as long as we needed. In the end, we custom designed two great couches! The awesome thing about this store is you can customize nearly everything -- the fabric of the couch, fabric on the throw pillows, whether it is a slip-cover or upholstered, the firmness of the cushions (down blend is like sitting on a cloud!), and the dimensions. The owner has a background in business and interior design, and she was a dream to work with (she helped SO much with the design!). The delivery time is a bit long -- we are looking at 9 weeks -- but we already know it will be worth it. Skip the department stores -- go HERE. read more

Two weekends ago we were on the hunt for a new addition to our living room, and after some totally lackluster shop experiences, Sofa Creations was the saving grace! The moment we entered the showroom, we knew we wanted to purchase our couch here. The owner was the person working, which immediately made us more inclined to spend our dollars at this shop, and the atmosphere itself was very inviting. The showroom is bright and clean, and feels very high end but without the untouchable price tag. The majority of furniture seemed to be in the mid-range - not the cheapest you'll find, but certainly not crazy expensive. And you can tell you're paying for quality. We had considered snagging something from Ikea, but in the end we decided to pay more for something that will last much, much longer. The space is on the smaller side, but it still boasted a solid variety of pieces. After visiting a few of the warehouse-feeling stores, this manageable space was quite the breath of fresh air. I think most of the clientele chooses to customize their sofas, and that's really what Sofa Creations is known for. You can pick out your piece of furniture and then choose from a crazy extensive variety of fabrics to make it 100% yours. The owner told us it typically takes 9 weeks for the ordered sofas to come in. Well, we're kinda last minute, and needed a sofa immediately, so we were relieved when she told us they also sell floor models. Phew. We didn't need a customized couch, we just needed a quality sofa right away. We found a beautiful pale blue beauty that has made itself at home in our living room. Another plus is that we were able to choose two throw pillows to go with the couch! I'm a huge fan of pillows, so this was pretty darn exciting. I love this store. I bought a four seasons sofa almost 15 years ago and over the years, bought 3 new slipcovers for it. Each experience was great, loved the fabric selection, assistance, etc. But, my most recent experience was, hands down, the best customer service I have ever received in my life. I had an issue with my last slipcover and after a quick phone call to the store, the owner came to my house where I showed her the issue with the fabric, and she promptly ordered replacement fabric for me. A week or so later, her assistant brought me the replacement fabric and personally put it on my sofa! I will be a customer for life. This store is a great asset to Richmond. read more

I spent $8,000+ with Mamie, part of large order that included a table and six chairs. Table and six chairs assembled with bolts by her technicians, bolts were so loose could hand tighten them. Furniture was not assembled properly upon delivery when delivered May 2015. Did not realize this until a few months after delivery as the furniture was not used frequently. As soon as we realized it we asked Mamie, the owner, to send someone out to remedy problem. She refused to do so, only suggesting that a technician would cost $40-$50 per hour at our own expense. She was also very rude on the phone. When she called me this morning I had not slept in 36 hours as a family member is critical in the hospital, so I handed the phone to my mother and brother to speak with her. She proceeded to ask them my age - stating that wasn't I an adult and that at 35 years old I should be able to handle my own business. She was adamant that since we did not call right away it was not her problem to fix. I was not aware that there was a time limitation on standing behind your services, especially when the cause of the problem was due to an employee retained by Mamie. Simply asked her to correct a problem that was present upon delivery and caused by her technicians, she refused to do so. Not asking for money back, just to remedy a problem. There are numerous other businesses that will gladly stand behind their products and services while valuing your business, something Sofa Creations has not done for us. read more

Sofa Creations provides great customer service! About 8 years ago, we purchased a slipcover sofa and chairs. They are so comfortable, that we changed which room we lived in. Recently though, I noticed that the back of the sofa was bowing back. I decided to call Sofa Creations for a furniture repair recommendation. To my surprise, Mamie asked if she could look at the sofa. Upon inspection, she told us that the sofa frame would be replaced under warranty. The staff was friendly and helpful until my purchase came in. We spent a TON of money on a sectional and even upgraded to fabric that simply didn't last long at all (we have no pets and no children). My sectional was falling apart after only 2 years of careful use. When I went to speak with the owner about my dissatisfaction she was rude, unhelpful and said "well, too bad the fabric is discontinued". It's been almost two years since my last furniture purchase and over the week-end I popped in with my Mother who is currently shopping for a new love seat. Upon arrival the staff remembered not only me but my purchase. I was amazed. I'm not shocked though as their customer service is top notch and I've been extremely satisfied with my purchase (again from almost two years ago). I went to Sofa creations because they had a large sign that stated, "We have Dog friendly sofas". I have 2 Weimaraner so this is what I needed. I found a sofa that I liked and in grey....I went back a second time to have a friend look at the sofa. I was told it was a "Dog Friendly " sofa because the covers came off and I could wash them in cold water.. (Great), it was more durable and the fabric resists tearing better. I was SOLD....UTILL I started having problems with the sofa, so I called the Broad Street location. I NEVER received a call back but did receive a letter in the mail from the owner that stated, they do not deal with this manufacturer any longer so I have to call them about any warranty issues.......I guess you can tell a customer a sofa has a 10 year warranty especially if you do not deal with the manufacturer any longer......So I am out of luck....I was also told that No I should not wash the sofa covers in cold water, they should be dry cleaned....buyer be warned and definitely get everything in writting when purchasing a sofa from them.... read more
