The desserts were also amazing...the five-flavored pound cake (wow) and earthquake cake (it gives the cousin of a German chocolate cake minus the traditional icing, amazing) both were moist and full of flavor (5/5). The staff was super friendly and helpful assisting the growing line of customers (everyone were so nice) and the 40+ minute drive from our home was scenic and peaceful, worth the trip, can not wait to return.

We started out with some truffle fries and they were great, a must get. For lunch I had the Greek Falafel plate. Not only was the presentation gorgeous but it had a generous portion of hummus and tzatziki. It was full of crispy chickpeas to give a little crunch. The sweet peppers, rainbow carrots, and broccolini were roasted to perfection and full of flavor. The watermelon radish added a gorgeous splash of color and the feta spread throughout . The plate was served with a side of za'atar naan that was a burst of spice and completely complimented the meal. Then to top it off.... Beautiful flowers to add more color and elegance. The service was prompt and kind the entire time! Our colleague showed us around the place after our meal and the theme to me definitely is making people feel welcome and special. It's the little touches that matter, like the beautiful artwork extending from the first floor to the top floor in the stairwell. I visited Adarra for the first time recently. Ambience, service, drinks, wine selection and food -…read moreall wonderful. I commend them for going after the top end of the market. I tried one of the specials that I now see pictured in every restaurant review - butterflied trout. I admit it was phenomenal and I'm shocked how anyone can get a trout to take up so much space on a plate! My only regret is that I did not ask for the price before ordering. I'm glad I didn't inquire, otherwise I would not have ordered it. It was fantastic.- I think $70 for a trout entree is a reach. Even though it was a special, at that price point I think the servers should tell you the price regardless of whether you asked. I truly appreciate great food; both cooking it and it and eating it. We are fortunate to have so many great restaurants in Richmond. Adarra is not in my price range for very frequent visits in spite of them doing everything exceptionally well. I will go back, but I can't justify it being part of my regular rotation.

I came here for my 30th birthday and had the best time! I was looking for a spot open on Monday…read moreevenings and Adarra had an opening. I booked a table for four. The green building is unmarked so it took us a second to feel confident about going inside. It's located in Oregon Hill so there is some street parking around. We live nearby so walked to it. I had the best culinary experience with my favorite people. It's a very dark and moody restaurant, great for intimate or romantic moments. They recommend you do family style. We ordered five dishes for our four person group. Someone in our party was gluten free and it was not hard to accommodate that. I believe they cook almost all the meals on a open fire. The menu changes with the seasons and I wish I took a picture to share the proper names of what we had, but here is what we tried: Cocktails: We each got one and they are very creative cocktails. I love how experimental they get with them. I tried a clarified strawberry mojito which wasn't too sweet and easy to drink. A friend of mine got a mojito old fashioned that was strong and had nice bitters. I'm blanking on my fiancé's drink, but it was my favorite for its sweetness and carbonation. My best friend got a unique martini-like drink with onion and salt she loved. Asparagus Salad: This was refreshing and perfect for the spring day we had. I loved the cream and strawberry components. Scallops: These were so tasty. I loved the bed of salt they were on, it really brought out the flavors. Octopus: This was my favorite dish of the evening. The flavors were GREAT. I started with the potatoes and spinach part and was already in love with the dish. I was so happy that they cooked the octopus to perfection. Drum: This was at the bottom of the list of what we had for me, but still really yummy. The silky fish was a bit plain without it's very tasty crunchy skin, but if you combined the two it was good. Trout: We devoured this. This was the star of the show for my fiancé. It was huge and great for four people (considering we ate a bunch of other plates before). The oil it came is was so yummy. It was a good fish y'all, good fish is good fish. Basque cheesecake with olive oil drizzle: My birthday cake choice for the evening. The olive oil was a little overpowering for me, but the cheesecake was still yummy. We loved our experience here. It seems like a lot of recent reviews have some issues with the timing, but it worked lovely for our group. We got there at 5:30pm and left around 7:30pm. We wanted a more relaxed experience and loved our conversation so it did not feel this long. But it is worth being mindful about timing. We did take a while to order drinks. Overall, it was a tasty and lovely time here. It's a pricier restaurant, but totally worth it. This has been on my want to try list for a long time and I am beyond happy I finally tried it.

This was the only place to go. It's relatively small but it wasn't crowded. They had one bar tender and one waiter servicing everyone. First I was seated at a table on the center. Unfortunately they had a leak in the ceiling so we had to switch seats. The manager come over and apologized for the inconvenience. She was king enough to comp our drinks. The waiter Delmar was hilarious. Very entertaining conversation with him. He recommended the burger. He said it was made from fresh ground beef. After tasting it I was convinced it was true. The burger was nice and juicy, prepared medium well. Really hit the spot. Food wasn't very expensive either. Definitely a nice little meal in a convenient location.

Come with low expectations, come casual, and you'll have a better time. Or, for casual french food, go to Can Can, for fancy date night, try L'opossum. Restaurant was cramped, tables waaay too close for a nice restaurant, and way too small, we struggled to fit plates on our 2-top. (At $50/plate, struggle shouldn't be happening) For the first time in my life I had to ask the servers to please pre-bus the table, our plates sat until we asked they be removed. Biggest complaint with food and drinks was lack of balance. For example we ordered the baked Camembert, which arrived on a cold plate (as did all our warm dishes), and gelatinized quickly. There was a full wheel of cheese and barely a tablespoon of jam, so flavors were great for the first few bites, then blah. Rinse and repeat this with every dish we ordered. I ordered a cocktail and it was very strong, unbalanced, so I asked for a glass of wine. Our server was spread thin and checked on us rarely. I ordered the filet and found it lacked seasonal or French inspiration, frankly it was overwhelmingly bland and tough for a filet (cooked med rare). My husband's entree was the risotto, which was the best bite of meal, shrimp was fine - however, the portion was very small compared to my entree. Like, you would think his portion was an appetizer, compared to my plate. He cleaned his plate, helped me with my plate and my plate had food when we left. The space also had really poor ventilation. The hostess wore too much perfume, and the scent would linger distractingly at the table every time she walked by. Another patron was sat near us and his cologne dominated the palate, we skipped desert. This isn't an issue at any other restaurant I've dined in recently, so I have to assume the HVAC needs a fresh filter or something. When they reset a table next to us, they fanned the cloth AT us, flicking any dust directly on our plates and food. Linens weren't steamed, very wrinkly tables for the price point and branding as an upscale spot. Don't plan to return and would not recommend.
