    Lemon Butter Cake

Chez Foushee was the perfect setting for a celebration dinner and it truly delivered. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated. Draped in lush florals and shades of green, the space felt like stepping into a garden. We started with drinks and bread and butter, simple but exactly what we were in the mood for. I ordered the K's Bouquet and the flavors were incredible. My boyfriend went with a mule and loved every sip. For our entrees, I had the market special, a grilled salmon with broccolini, which was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the filet accompanied by brussels sprouts. We finished with two more drinks, Aire De Mars, before heading out, but not before our waiter insisted we try their famous Lemon Butter Cake. We are so glad we listened. It is the perfect hybrid between a key lime pie and a cheesecake and truly was the best ending to our night! To top it all off, as we were leaving, our waiter and another team member stopped us to take our photo and even perfected the lighting. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the night feel even more special. We will absolutely be back and cannot recommend Chez Foushee enough!

Wonderful experience here for an impulsive girls night out! Beautiful interior, incredibly friendly service from both the host and our waiter. Loved the antique designs and the dinnerware. The chefs hand written note for the specials was a nice touch, and it seems like they are very interested in an intimate dining experience. Highly recommend the spring special of asparagus bisque... I should have gotten a bowl! The steak frite was cooked perfectly and everything was hot and fresh. Cocktails were amazing, just all around a good time. I will definitely be bringing guests here the next time we drive in to RVA.

A Richmond restaurant staple, Chez Foushee provides the classic linen tablecloth elevated dining experience. The space feels intimate and welcoming, with soft lighting and classic decor that evoke a French-inspired dining room. The staff are welcoming and ensure a pleasant experience. With their slower pacing, they wouldn't be the best for a quick lunch, but absolutely for a nice evening out. Their menu blends French with Southern influences. I'd recommend their trout meunière or steak frites. Though they're not cheap, with entrees starting in the 30s, I think their portions are pretty generous. The plating itself is a bit dated and could use some refinement. Overall, if you're looking for a classic elevated dinner experience, Chez Foushee would be a good bet.

My husband and I came for the Valentines day menu. The food and service was excellent. I only give it a 4 star because it felt cramped inside. I hate having to interrupt another diner just to get to a seat. Outside of that, I have zero complaints. I recommend this restaurant for a quality fine dining experience. I loved the pianist!

I had the immense privilege of dining at Chez Foushee on two separate occasions. My first visit was during one of their Friday night French Salon events & my most recent visit was this weekend to celebrate my Wedding Anniversary. I have to say both visits were exquisitely memorable. The food was absolutely divine. The ambiance was welcoming & cozy & the service was attentive & courteous. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu & made great recommendations for both visits. Chez Foushee is a restaurant I expect to revisit for many years to come. Truly an exceptional dining experience that you can enjoy & savor.

Whipped Feta: yummy! it was light and fluffy and the pistachios added a nice crunch. if you like feta or saltier things you will love this. the bread is the perfect crispiness- not too hard but not soft. Grilled Salmon: cooked perfectly, the lemon creme fraiche on top complimented it very well. I do wish there was a bit more asparagus or potatoes on the side. Lemon Butter Cake: the texture was closer to a fluffier cheesecake than a cake but it was delicious. it was light and refreshing. Service: the waiter was very attentive and the ambience is beautiful - perfect for a date night or fancy girl's night out

Loved my dining experience at Chez Foushee. Dined for a friends birthday and started with the lavender love cocktail which was delicious. With dinner I enjoyed a nice white burgundy blend which I hadn't had before. I don't drink a ton of French wine but would love to after enjoying those so much. My appetizer was the carrots which were good not amazing. The salmon entree was delicious and incredibly filling i was a little surprised by the portion but in a good way! My sides were. Loved the asparagus but the mashed potatoes were a little bland. The star of the evening was definitely the lemon butter cake. The perfect cross between lemon chess pie or bars and cheesecake. I'm already planning my trip back just for that! The service was awesome, thank you Cole! And even the amazing and gracious chef Whitney came out to tell my friend happy birthday whose name also happened to be Whitney. The piano karaoke was a fun bonus too. 10/10 Friday night.

I love this cute French spot. Back at the height of the pandemic, we ordered an extravagant takeout meal from here that made our day. I've been back since and find that it's more of a Southern and French fusion spot. The entrees I've ordered here in the past are good, but not necessarily something I go out of my way to get. I do, however, adore their desserts here. On my recent visit, my partner and I wanted to go on a last minute date late into the evening and decided to grab dessert from Chez Foushee. I'm so happy we did. They seated us at an intimate table not far from the piano player. We had a great view for people watching. It was extremely romantic. The vibes in this spot are immaculate. Even the bathroom is so french (note that it's very tight and small, but in a cute way). I highly recommend this spot for a date night to grab drinks and dessert. You won't want to miss out on trying their famous lemon butter cake.

Cute little spot in Richmond. Small, but very concise and delicious menu! Friendly staff who were also very attentive! I had a thyme based cocktail that was delicious! The baked Brie was also quite nice and very shareable! I had the beef tenderloin for my main and every aspect of the dish absolutely worked! Truly cooked to perfection! Another gem in RVA that I will certainly return to!

    Vegan risotto--delicious!!!

Absolutely adorable date night spot with my girlfriend!!! And so easy to visit as a vegan. The warm citrus olives & almonds were great and the vegan mushroom risotto was perfect. They have delicious cocktails-I recommend the thyme gin cocktail. Service & ambience were perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better evening.

The server, Briana, was one of the best I've had in a very long time. Personable, great smile, friendly, and knew her stuff. We ordered the brussel sprouts- they were great with a nice heat from the sauce. We had the crispy skin salmon, which came with a nice fresh salad, The skin was amazingly crispy and the flesh was flavorful. I asked Briana to surprise me with something good and boy did she deliver. It was their porkchop served over some super tasty mashed potatoes. Note that this is not how they are usually served, it was Briana's favorite way to eat this dish so she made the decision for me. The porkchop was very very good. Nice grill marks, onions, and a very nice cream-based sauce. This was so so good. They are doing great food at this new location and I will be back again.

Soon after we. Ordered the octopus and mussel appetizers a storm came in and the rain fell pretty hard. Our choices were to run back to the hotel or stay and dine huddled under an umbrella. Being a little wet with beverages and good food seemed the better option so we ordered more food. The octopus was great. I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. It would have been understandable for them to limit the trips to check on us, but they persevered and made us feel welcome. If you are in the area, highly recommended stopping by, rain or shine, and sampling their menu. Nicely done.

The staff were polite, but we had to ask several times to get items we were missing or things we wanted extras of. They checked in on us a fair number of times, but they still forgot to return to give us what we had asked for. By the time we were ready to leave, we still haven't gotten our dressings or our condiments. I also had asked for my burger to be well done, but I got a burger with quite a bit of pink in it. I didn't want to ask for it to be placed back on the grill because I didn't really want to wait longer for my food. Although I wanted my burger to be well done and I didn't get it that way, it was still pretty good. The fries though, I think was the best part of it. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I also ordered a coke. Just a heads up, they don't do free refills on the sodas, so each cup is $4. My party also ordered salmon l'orange and a romano salad with salmon. My friends really enjoyed their main dishes, but we did ask for extra dressing. The restaurant is decorated in a boho-style vibe, and it was cute. We found the lighting on the side dining area to be a little bit too dim once the sun went down, but I do think it would've been perfect for a date night vibe. Overall, we had an okay experience.

Upon entering, I was reminded of a 1950s pharmacy by the humongous "Prescriptions" sign hanging above the bar, and the antique furniture, bar, and barstools splayed throughout Tarrant's. There was a solid crowd at the bar; it's clear there is a regular crowd that sits and hangs out here. We were promptly seated by a young blonde woman in the dining section (behind the bar). Our server, Nadia, was an enchanting brunette, training another young server, Sierra. She took our drink orders and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, checking in after a few minutes to see if we were ready. We finally decided, my partner ordered the 10" Bianca White (pizza), and I chose the Sailor Sandwich. Unfortunately, the sailor was not in the cards for me, and Nadia suggested the Reuben as they were similar. They brought out breadsticks while we waited, and the food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the atmosphere, the old-fashioned chandeliers, the large mirror, the floral paintings, and the rustic frames, all of which added to the restaurant's stated aesthetic. The pizza was hot and savory, while the Reuben had buttery toast, crispy corned beef, and a light smattering of sauerkraut (TBH, I didn't even notice the sauerkraut). For dessert, we indulged in the upside-down walnut apple pie, served with vanilla ice cream, all made from scratch, and beautifully delicate. Our time at Tarrant's Cafe seemed like a stroll into the past; the only indication of modernity was the ordering kiosk used by the staff. We truly enjoyed our time and had deeply meaningful conversations without enduring the hustle and bustle or the rowdy cacophony of an intense crowd.
