Leading up to the Sale: I walked into the store and there…read morewere a few customers inside looking around and one man working behind the counter. He introduced himself as Billy. I assume he is the manager or owner of this store since I have not seen other people working there. He was very friendly, always had a nice smile, and after our initial greeting gave me enough time to walk around the showroom and test out the furniture. There were lots of nice sofas in the showroom but they only had one sleeper physically there. After a while of "window shopping" I wanted to go out to see a few more furniture stores before I decided on anything. When the Billy saw me walking for the door he reengaged me in conversation and showed me his online catalog via a giant tablet kiosk in the showroom. This specific kiosk, if I recall correctly, only shows items from Ashley Furniture catalog (Furniture Gallery is a reseller of Ashley and other brands as well). He told me that there were a few regular sofas in the showroom that were available as sleeper models which could be ordered. I liked hearing that because I could actually sit in those sofas and get a feel for the fabric/cushioning regardless of the model. I found one I liked and we negotiated/discussed current sales for a while before I told him I would be back after thinking it over. (I always need time before making a big purchase to weigh my options and prices) I left the store and did some online research of Ashley Furniture and other people's prices in case I decided to buy direct or go somewhere else. It turned out Billy's price was much cheaper than other stores and even Ashley's price. I went back into the store a few hours later and decided to move forward with the purchase. I even found the sleeper a little cheaper, before the sales discount, on the Furniture Gallery Website (which Billy respectfully price matched). After the sale: Some things you need to understand before you continue reading this part of the review. You'll realize that Furniture Gallery isn't a big corporation or chain. Because of this, they cannot be as quick or agile with shipping/delivery as the big stores. I decided to continue with the sale because Billy seemed like an honest good guy and the price was right for the quality of the product. The delivery time estimate to get the sleeper from Ashley Furniture to their store was about a week and ultimately it ended up being about 1.5 weeks. The delivery from Furniture Gallery to my apartment took a few days extra due to other scheduled deliveries (I think they have only 1 delivery truck/crew). This wasn't a huge deal for me because I understood they have a smaller group of people working for them. I was really happy that every time I called Billy for an update (even on Sunday) he picked up his phone and talked to me. Again, he was always very nice every time. That made this transaction better for me. Day of Delivery: The delivery people showed up in their unmarked white truck and were very nice with great attitudes. It was raining outside but the sleeper sofa was packaged really well and the rain didn't get to it). Before delivery, I had measured our building's elevator and found it was too small for the sleeper sofa. So, I guided them up the stairwell to get the sofa up into my apartment on the 3rd floor. It was a tight fit after the stairwell to get the sofa into my apartment but these guys knew exactly what they were doing and made it work. Once they got it into my apartment within about 10 minutes they had everything setup. They hung around for me to do a personal inspection of the sofa and mattress. I noticed that Ashley Furniture (not Furniture Gallery) made a mistake and included a very thin and weak spring mattress in the sleeper sofa instead of a memory foam one (everywhere online it says this sleeper comes with memory foam by default). I then called Billy and he had me take some photos of the sleeper sofa and the serial/model numbers. He ordered me a replacement mattress from Ashley. I thanked the delivery drivers and they were on their way. Fast forward a week later, I exchanged the spring mattress for the foam mattresses at no cost and all was good. The quality of the memory foam mattress was far superior to the spring. Conclusion: These are honest guys. If mistakes happened, they took care of me. They gave me a great deal on this sleeper sofa and even beat the price of the manufacturer. Everyone I met or talked to during this was very nice. Like a previous review, the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had to call them about delays instead of them reaching out to me first. I feel like if they can improve on that and have more accurate delivery estimates then it would be that much better of an experience!

Where would my husband and I be without the MIT Furniture Exchange? Furniture-less, is the answer!…read moreThis is such an amazing resource for students. Since my husband and I moved to Cambridge five and a half years ago for his graduate program, we've acquired almost all of our furniture here - everything from a leather couch and armchair set in excellent condition for a reasonable $600 to a gorgeous Crate and Barrel kitchen table for a mere $40. We've also purchased bookshelves, end tables, lamps, desks, and more. Obviously by virtue of fact that the furniture is by donation, there are always going to be some ugly or low-quality items to weed through, but I'd say it's well worth the time. As has been noted, the hours are very limited: currently Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. If possible, I'd strongly recommend arriving promptly at 10, especially on Saturdays: within 15 to 30 minutes of opening, often much of the best inventory has already been claimed.

Would have liked to make a contribution to the cause, but kind of a turnoff to ask for donations and exclude so many willing to donate. Strongly suggest going to other consignment stores.

In addition, I previously had a $400 credit that your managers reinstated in 2022 and specifically told me could be used at any time. During my recent visit, however, Store Manager Robert claimed that the $400 credit had been applied to a sale in 2018. If that were true, why was the credit discussed, reinstated, and confirmed as available in 2022? This explanation is contradictory and raises serious concerns about the accuracy of my account records. What is even more troubling is the manner in which I was treated. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, Robert raised his voice, spoke to me in a disrespectful and confrontational manner, and belittled me in front of employees and customers. His behavior was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Ironically, on the same day, I purchased a new mattress for my son for approximately $3,500. I was told that my $1,598 credit would be applied by the corporate office and that I would later receive a zero-balance invoice. I am now concerned about whether this matter will be handled properly. I am also deeply troubled by Jordan's handling of customer credits. For every purchase, customers receive invoices, receipts, and documentation. However, when returns generate store credits, customers apparently receive little or no written documentation confirming that the store owes them money. I never received a credit memo, email, statement, or receipt for these credits, which is precisely why I forgot about them. Had I not discovered them myself, nearly $2,000 of my money would have remained unused indefinitely, WATCH OUT PEOPLE! Customers should be provided written proof of every store credit issued to them. Transparency should not depend on a customer's memory years later. I expect a full investigation into the status of all credits associated with my account, a written explanation regarding the missing $400 credit, and a review of Robert's conduct. After spending tens of thousands of dollars with Jordan's Furniture over the years, I am shocked by both the handling of my credits and the disrespectful treatment I received. I WANT MY $400.00 BACK!!! AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING ROBERT RAISED HIS VOICE AND LOUDLY SIAD HAVE A GOOD DAY, WAS HE BEING SARCASTIC OR TELLING ME SOMETHING ELSE?

I realize Chinese rosewood furniture appeals to a very targeted market, and it is not practical for a retailer to keep that much on hand. They had a good selection of traditional furniture that you'd find in a typical American home, but I was a little disappointed that they did not have much Chinese furniture on display. Still, I wasn't about to write them off because finding quality Chinese furniture in the Boston area is a challenge. I should know because I had been searching for years. They more than made up for the lack of inventory with the outstanding service and willingness to work with me to order pieces (custom or otherwise). As a first time homebuyer, I have visited too many furniture stores to count. By far, the service at Far Eastern Furniture went above and beyond the service of any other furniture store I have visited. After I selected my furniture, they contacted me every few days up until the time it was delivered to update me on the status. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and I am absolutely thrilled by the quality.

From the moment I walked in the door things felt odd. When I walked in the door I wasn't greeted, instead, I was stared at by the lady who worked there and was given the vibe that she didn't want me there. I tried to pay it no attention and proceeded to walk around and do the shopper looking to buy bedroom furniture thing where you check out the dresser drawers to see how deep they are and inspect the bedframes to see if they have good quality wood and to see how sturdy they are. While I was browsing (I was the only shopper in the store), the same lady watched from a distance and edged closer as I kept looking but didn't offer to assist me in any way. I found one bedframe that I liked. I went to show my fiancée via facetime the bedframe AND THEN the lady finally chose to say something to me, "NO PHOTOS" and pointed to the computer paper printed signs on the far wall that could easily go unnoticed. The no pictures things seemed even odder to me so I chose to leave. I will never come to this store again and I don't recommend this place to anyone.
