Had to knock a couple of stars for poor customer service. My review is based on multiple visits and multiple services. My 1st visit was with Dr Syed coupled with the contact lens ordering. She was helpful and thorough during the exam. The ordering process was seamless and I received my contacts via mail in about a week (which I was pleasantly surprised). The subsequent 3 visits were related to getting new glasses. There is a good selection of frames to choose from and that would be covered via insurance. When I ordered, I was told that they would be ready in 10 business days and to expect a call when ready. I did not receive a call so I reached after the 10 days and was told they were ready. When I looked at the glasses, I noticed that there was a scratch on the lens. When I informed the clerk, she brushed me off by saying it must be lint without visually inspecting herself. She wiped the lens and preceding to tell me to try them on. I then told her again that there was a scratch and that's when she looked and agreed with me. I recognize that things happen but blowing me off as a customer was not appropriate. She then informed me that a reorder would take place and that I would wait another 10 business days. I noted my expectation to be called unlike before and I was reassured that would not happen. Unfortunately that end of the bargain was not held up. I went in without notification and the glasses were ready and I was happy to be done with the whole process. Overall the customer service may be location specific so I may seek out another location for next year's exam. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! DON'T STAND BEHIND GLASSES! I've been going there for a few years. This year I had a terrible experience. When I picked up my glasses, they had a sign to come back in an hour though it was during open hours. I waited and they all came in at once and there were several people waiting. My glasses aren't right - my eyes hurt and my vision is blurry. When I call to request they make it right, I always get voicemail, even when I call during their open hours. I have left numerous messages and have never gotten a call back. I've emailed too. Nothing. read more

Don't go here for a couple of reasons- 1. I'm going on over a month since my contact lens fitting and they still won't release my updated contact prescription to me. The front desks reasoning for not being able to give me my contact prescription is because the doctor needs to "finalize" it. Couldn't get any clarification on what needs to be finalized and why it takes over a month to do so 2. Even though they open at 10am, that does not mean a doctor will be on-site. 3. I showed up to my appointment on time, but the doctor wasn't on-site yet and came in 15 min later... she was thorough during the exam and nice enough, but if you're looking for promptness, try somewhere else because you'll be here longer than you expect to be. read more

This is where you need to go for eyeglasses and/or contacts. The staff is great, quality frames at reasonable prices, and customer service is the best. I've been to all the big name stores like Pearl Vision, LensCrafters et al. You wait and wait and wait. But not so at this particular Target Optical. It's in a small mall diagonally across from the CVS on Sutton in Streamwood. Thumbs up, way up. read more

I have been going to this target optical for the past several years. Dr. Syed and her team are an amazing group of people. Dr. Syed has quite a bit of experience in the field. I was misdiagnosed/misinformed by a different optometrist that I had a 'retinal detachment,' Dr.Syed informed me that she did not observe any such deformity in my eye. She did however see something I believe is called a 'lattice.' She also referred me to an ophthalmologist, just to be sure and follow up, who confirmed and agreed with Dr. Syed. Needless to say, I was very pleased with her efforts to take care of me, you really cannot find that elsewhere. Optical staff are also very helpful when it comes to purchasing glasses. I often go back to adjust my pairs and they are always more than happy to help, even if the glasses aren't from target! read more

The worst optician and management practices.  I came in for an eye exam on Sunday afternoon, which was rushed, but acceptable.  I went to check out with my FSA, and paid for my eye exam and a full year's supply of contacts accordingly.  When I received the receipts, I noticed immediately that the office personnel hadn't given me a full itemized receipt for the eye exam, which is necessary to process any FSA claim at any eyewear facility in the country, and therefore pretty par for the course.  (I got one for the contacts, just not the exam).  Unfortunately, the dynamic duo left in the office didn't know how to do a receipt with medical codes (which they should have been properly trained to do, but weren't), and the optician skated out of the office 3 seconds after I walked out of the exam room.  The office personnel tried calling her several times, but she ignored their phone calls.  So, the office personnel said that they would refund the eye exam, and that I could come in on Tuesday to pay and pick up a receipt.  I asked if I could come in on Monday as I was off work and it was more convenient for me and they said no because the Dr would still be out of the office.  I asked if they could email it to me sometime that week, and they said no, they didn't have a scanner to do it.  I then promised them I would be in sometime later that week, but it would be dependent on when I was next free to drive back--You know, because I like most people, have other stuff to do and am not sitting around waiting for a Dr and an office to do their job with even a smidgen of respect to their patients time.  So, during the week, they called on Tuesday and Wednesday to remind me to come in, which is fine but pushy.  Then, the Dr personally calls me at 7:30am on Thursday to tell me to come in immediately and pay or she's going to report me to collections.  Yeah, that's right - Dr Syed.  The one who couldn't wait 2 seconds for her patient to check out, the one who couldn't give her office workers the correct medical codes so that a proper receipt could be provided before disappearing into the ether, the one who couldn't figure out how to EMAIL a receipt to a customer in the 21st century--yes, that one.  She personally called to threaten a customer (who did show means and willingness to pay at the time of service - and actually paid at time of service!!) that she would send them to collections because I had the AUDACITY to not come in when immediately dictated to.  I have never met a ruder, more unprofessional optician in my life.  Hey genius, I scheduled a SUNDAY eye exam, because getting to their office mid-week was clearly a problem for me, so why not wait until the person comes in within the week (like they promised) before threatening them.  Apparently, business is slow and the $109 for the eye exam is a life and death manner.  I only wish she had that sense of urgency when I was actually STANDING in her office HANDING THEM MY DEBIT CARD - you know, on Sunday.  She did say that she purposely ignored her office workers' phone calls that day because she had stuff to do and somewhere to be.  Hmmm..... The best part to this is that I just found out that the refund hasn't even been reflected on my FSA card yet. While speaking to the FSA card visa people they couldn't believe that I was getting this much of a hassle 3 days later and threatened collections. read more

Omg the staff and the optometrist Sofia Syed are amazing people. I never felt so comfortable. During my contact training I felt so comfortable and I heard stories from people about rude employees at opticals. Everyone in this store and location are very sweet and make you feel valued as a customer. Will always choose to come here! read more

We received awesome service yesterday. I made an appointment for my daughter using the online appointment service. They were waiting for us when we got there. We were greeted and checked in in less then 10 minutes. The eye exam was thorough and Dr. Syed was wonderful with my daughter. Highly recommend this Target Optical. read more

Great service, exceptional optician!! I had previously been to a different practice for an exam and was having troubles with my contact lenses. I was getting slight headaches after wearing it for a while and my eyes would feel tired and sore. The doctor had switched my brand so I figured maybe it was just that. After hearing good things about Dr. Syed through family, I decided to go to her as my other doctor made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. So I went for the exam and everything went well and she gave me a trial pair for the same brand of contact lenses and they were feeling just fine. It was only when I noticed the prescription that she gave me that I realized why I kept having problems with my last pair. The prescription was off by a whole number!!! I was so annoyed with my last doctor for making such a textbook mistake that I have decided to continue with Dr. Syed even though she is farther away. I'm not going to pay money for a doctor that can't do his job. I would have never even realized my prescription was so off had it not been for the fact that I'm so particular about the health of my eyes. Do not gamble with your health and go to a serious doctor who really cares. read more

I have been to Dr Syed's office more than a few times. I think she is a very kind and helpful person. I went there a couples months back for my eye exam and got my full years supply of contact lenses. I am very pleased with the service provided to me. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Syed and the rest of the staff at Target Optical. The staff immediately greeted me with friendly smiles and greetings when when I entered the office. Dr. Syed was kind enough to let me shadow her while she performed exams on her patients. She was always thoughtful, courteous, and very knowledgeable with every patient that came through. Many patients were former patients who were always satisfied with the care that they received. No matter if they were a former patient or new patient, Dr. Syed took the time to make sure the patient was comfortable, especially scared children-- which was quite easy with her friendly personality. She made sure the patient was informed with everything that took place during the exam. She never rushed the patients and always answered questions brightly. She made sure that the elder patients who complained of eye troubles were thoroughly checked and were able to address any concerns that they had. She was wonderful during my own eye exam. She was understanding of my financial strain as a broke college student and discounted my contact lens evaluation exam. During the exam, she was thorough and efficient, adjusting my prescription to my needs and scheduling follow-ups as needed-- I did not have to pay for follow-ups. She worked hard to fit me with a contact brand that fit me the most comfortably and worked with my budget. She made sure the opticians were briefed on my needs after the exam so they were able to help me more effectively. I have recommended her to my family and friends and will definitely be returning for my annual eye exams! read more

I am a 19 year old girl and i've worn glasses/contacts since i was 8. Over the years I've been to several different places for my exams and glasses and this time, i was going to pay for all of it myself and i can honestly say I've had the best experience at target optical! The doctor was very nice and informative, She answered all the questions i had very well (i had tons), the people working there were absolutely awesome!!! Very nice, outgoing, patient, definitely know what they are talking about. Again, i had TONS of questions!! The guy that was helping me personally, went out of his way to help me get the best price for my glasses and contacts making sure that i didn't miss any deals or anything extra my insurance covered. (I had great coverage from my insurance) He sat with me and gave me his opinion on glasses and helped me pick them out. I ended up getting Ray Bans. I was SO surprised on what i ended up paying!!! Since i work part time, i bought my contacts first, since i use them more and bought just my frame until i had money to buy the lenses. Well, i kept putting it off until i went to target just to buy some stuff and saw that there was a sign, "50% off all kids and adult glasses when you buy a frame" so i asked if it would apply to my frames and since i was within the 90 days, they did!! Ahhh i was so excited and proud to go home and tell my parents that i made a great decision going to target optical! No regrets and will definitely be coming back every year!!! read more
