Came into Target Optical for an annual check up and to get an update on the contacts prescription. Making an appt online was very easy and their team called me 24 hours in advance to confirm my appt. The inside was very clean and actually had a lot of good glasses selections under well known brand names. I didn't wait long to go back for pretesting and to be seen by the doctor. Dr. Rathmann did a wonderful job explaining my prescription needs in an understandable manner. She was extremely personable and made me feel very comfortable. I felt like she went above and beyond to ensure I knew how to get my best prescription outcome. After my appt came the sales pitch. I understand that with the service will come the explanation of benefits but I felt as stern as I was on what I wanted to purchase that day, the person helping me kept pushing on additional items and "deals". If the manager had listened a bit more to me as a customer, I would have left giving this a 5 star review. Tip: One can use their Target Red Card for glasses and contact purchases to still save 5% and receive the bonus points. read more

The new doctor, Achyut Desai has a requirement for verbal confirmation for appointments or they will cancel a previously booked appointment. It is a brain dead requirement , because it defeats the entire purpose of an automated appointment scheduling system. if you need me to confirm my appointment , send me an electronic confirmation and I will authorize that. if there is a legal reason for needing a verbal confirmation, explain to the consumer rather than cancel the appointment that was made over a week ago. I will never set foot in a Target Optical if I can afford it. Glad we figured out what kind of "doctor" Dr. Desai is upfront. Saved me a lot of time. Now on to find a doctor that actually cares about his clients. read more

I needed repair on glasses I bought a couple years ago. Desi fixed them in about 5 min. She 's the best! She also did this for me a while ago on another pair. If she's not there,I don't bother going in. She's kind, capable, efficient, helpful and an asset to the store. read more

Do not go here. The doctor gave me the wrong prescription for glasses and contacts. His prescription for glasses was for 6.00 for my right eye and 5.25 for my left eye. After buying a pair of glasses using this prescription I realized I was unable to see out of the glasses. My new optometrist prescribed 3.25 and 3.0. No refund from him for the incorrect prescription/exam. read more

I have been to see Ophthalmologist Dr. Phan for several years and this is the first time I decided to write a review. I don't know what took me so long. She is an absolutely fabulous doctor, so kind and patient and understanding. I have been to other doctors and no one compares to Dr. Pam. I was actually going to buy my eyewear elsewhere but when I had Rishi give me a price I found the prices at target to be exceptionally competitiveAnd even lower than I expected. Target Optical is GREAT with Dr Phan and her team and I've been wearing glasses for 30+ years! This is a decently sized 'store' within the Target. The salesman was friendly; however, it could not make up for the limited selection: can you say made in China? Still, prices were competitive. Plus, lots of insurances are taken there. So for the area, I would consider taking a look here. read more

Target Optical on Schaumburg and Barrington is the best! Today was my second visit with my wife (annual eye exam) and the process was so easy and staff was super friendly. Glad to call this my primary place for all our eye exam and glasses needs. We made our appointment online so when we got in we didn't have to fill out any paper work. Located in the front of the Target by the registers, we saw that most appointment times were filled (Sunday) but there were a few spots, so as a tip, it's probably a good idea to make an appointment. The optometrist is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The support staff was very nice and made the entire process extremely pleasant. The exam room is clean the exam consists of a check of each eye, both eyes and then to see if any corrective lens filters would make things any clearer. I got my eyes dilated too so that she could check my eye health (which is a good indicator for diabetes and blood pressure issues). As a reminder you will have some blurry vision for a few hours (hard to see anything too close) so bring a friend or some sunglasses. All in all a positive experience. read more

The most unprofessional and ignorant staff..... I require an itemized bill for the eye exam for my prepaid medical card, which they forgot to give me. When I went back to get one, the optometrist told me to come back in an hour! One hour for a receipt?!?!?!? When I said that was unacceptable, she had the receptionist print one out in 10sec. I also ordered a pair of prescription Oakleys, which did not fit correctly. So I asked them to re-order it as Asian fit, to which they replied that it was not an option. So why is it that another Target Optical Location can order it? If you don't know how to do it, find out how to do it. Don't just tell the customer it can't be done. My wife and I have done our annual exams and purchases here for over five years. Dr. Kathy Phan is a pleasant & intelligent Optometrist that will take the time to give you a great exam and precise Rx for your glasses or contacts. The opticians will greet you but have never been pushy. Always professional, handles our insurance easily, usually in and out very quickly. I love Target Optical. It's very easy to schedule an appointment online or over the phone. The staff that works there is always nice and helpful, especially when it comes to explaining eye care benefits through insurance. They have a great selection of glasses and sunglasses of classic styles and also keep up with the newer trends. They have basic brands and name brands as well. The turn around time for lenses and glasses is quick as well (COACH, Ray Ban, etc.). The staff always makes sure you leave knowledgeable about your visit and purchase and even provides free samples of lens cleaners if needed. The few times they have made minor mistakes in the orders they were quick to fix and went out of their way to make sure we had good customer service. They have a big sign right when you walk in asking "Walk-in eye exams". Well, we were there at 2:45 and they were closed for their 2-3pm break. The chick comes at 3pm and says she can't open because their break is till 3:30. WTF? The target sign in your window states you guys close daily from 2-3pm. Not only that, but she kept insisting I was lying and implying that I can't read. I pointed it out to her and she says "Oh well we aren't opening till 3:30 and the doctor isn't even here today". Another WTF? I was going to try Target Optical but after this pathetic place, they've lost my business. read more

I had a great experience at this Target Optical! I decided to try them out because it was convenient, they took my insurance, and I was able to get a same-day appointment. I showed up to my appointment right on time and had to wait about 10 minutes to be seen, which to me isn't that bad at all, but both the doctor and his assistant apologized to me for the wait, which I really appreciate from any type of business. I saw Dr. Troyka and he was great. He mentioned that he was new to Target optical but he was nice and thorough and made me feel totally comfortable. After my exam I picked out new glasses. Desi was very helpful, didn't rush me at all and offered to give her opinion but didn't smother me or pressure me at all. I was very happy at this point, and then came the checkout. I was able to use a $10 coupon from cartwheel, and you can use your Target red card and get an additional 5% off. Sweet! Last but not least, she told me that my glasses would be ready within 2 weeks but she said it probably wouldn't take that long. Seemed like a standard waiting period, my appointment was on a Friday and by Wednesday of next week, she called and said my glasses were ready! Got my glasses and they are great. I went here once in 2012. Good service and everything was fine. However every year since they send constant reminders and make appointments for you! I asked them to stop a year ago as my insurance changed. This year they made another appointment. I asked them to stop contacting me and I am still getting reminders.
