I called our big box eye Dr and they were no help. Their only option was to send it out here which could take 3-5 days to arrive ...,He just couldn't walk around basically blind for 3-5 business days. I called a bunch of optometrist and these guys were the only ones who could help us. And to top it off they were friendly, accurate, and had us in and out in a short amount of time. I originally tried to go to 'Chicago Cornea Consultants' because that is where my eye doctor tried to send me. When I went to my consultation I was very grossed out by their facility and found out the only reason my eye doctor sent me there was because he had a deal with them and received money for each person he sent there. I called my insurance company after the consultation (which I should have done at the beginning of this process) and found out I could get a discount through them if I went to LasikPlus. My insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield - HMO) made my free consultation appointment with LasikPlus on my behalf which made me feel safe and secure. Right when I walked into the LasikPlus facility in Schaumburg, I felt so welcome and at ease. Getting lasik is a nerve-racking experience and the staff at LasikPlus is next level. Everyone I talked to was kind and open to answering any questions I had (trust me, I had a lot). During my consultation they determined I was a perfect candidate. Not sure if this made a difference, but at the beginning of this process I did not wear my contacts for almost 3 weeks before my consultation and never again after that (I ran out of contacts but this was a suggestion from my eye doctor). After determining I was a good candidate, they told me if I scheduled my surgery ASAP I would get an additional discount due to scheduling early. I said HELL YES, and had my surgery the next week. The day of the surgery was pretty crazy. There was a snow storm (I got it done on January 23rd). Something crazy happened and a man who got lasik earlier that day broke the machine. This meant that no one could get their surgery on that machine for the day. Everyone who was scheduled for surgery that day in Schaumburg were sent to the Oak Brook location since that location luckily had no appointments for the day. I still had the awesome Dr. Horn do the surgery. Even with all the chaos, LasikPlus handled it flawlessly and I was home faster than I expected. They also gave a discount due to everything that happened with the change in location. My actual surgery lasted all of 10 minutes, which was wild. My brother drove me home and I fell asleep immediately. I would suggest getting your prescriptions BEFORE the surgery because we stopped at the pharmacy on the way home and it delayed me getting to sleep as soon as possible. I would recommend LasikPlus to anyone looking to get lasik. I am so happy with this investment and kind of can't shut up about it. I went to my 1-day follow up appointment THE NEXT MORNING with 20/15 vision. Unbelievable, perfect vision. FYI - I would 100% recommend anyone who deals with allergies to get the surgery done in the winter so you don't have to deal with your eyes itching while you are going through the healing process. ****IMPORTANT**** I did not drink enough water or eat enough the day I got lasik. I got dehydrated and after I took my "after surgery nap", I fainted in the bathroom putting my eyedrops in. This had NOTHING to do with LasikPlus and everything with me being on a stupid diet lol. I just want to warn anyone getting this surgery to eat that day. I was completely naive.

It's like filling a job application and want to know everything. Also, it would be easier to choose glasses in the men's and women's section not all mixed. I also didn't like that I had to pay for an extended warranty and if they brake I still have to pay a percentage of it. Usually the frame has a one year warranty. Then they show you options for glare, blue light, and transition and there's a great, a good, and a okay one. I just wasn't too happy with this but I have learned and next time check different places and get quotes before choosing a place.

Without any questions, after they saw the glasses, they stood by their warranty and ordered new frames. (Unfortunately they were not in stock). I was told it would take a few weeks. A week or so later, I received a call from them letting me know there was a backorder on that frame from the manufacturer - not their fault but frustrating we'd have to wait and use an outdated prescription for a while - we're talking months of backorder. However, a few weeks later they called to say they were able to get them replaced sooner. So, we picked up the new glasses within the week of getting their call. While they are more expensive than the chain optical stores or stores like Costco, they stand by their work and provide "service with a smile."

I was so happy the way they turned out, I decided to have another pair made into sunglasses. Once again, Dr. Vitale and staff did an amazing job fitting another twenty five year old pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers (tortoise frames) with prescription "transition" lenses. In the past year, I've had Dr. Vitale's office transform four pairs of regular sunglasses into prescription sunglasses, including an expensive pair of Harley sunglasses, and, another twenty five year old pair of Ray-Ban wraps (tortoise biker frames) All four pairs work great while riding too! In case you're wondering about the twenty five year old Ray-Bans, back then a good friend was the Chicago rep for Ray-Ban, and GAVE samples of whatever I liked. I'd HIGHLY recommend Dr. Vitale and staff for all your eye care needs, they're AWESOME!
