After months of searching for a top periodontist in the Chicagoland area I am so glad I found Dr. Cabrera. His impressive educational background and the top-rated reviews from his services were what finalized my decision. This is my 2nd dental implant, and compared to my first experience (at a $nazzy Michigan ave practice), this was a far superior experience. Dr Cabrera is gentle and kind, and he was very concerned about ensuring my physical comfort during the (separate) extraction and implant procedures. He was very up-front about the severity (bad!) of my condition and prognosis (good!) of my outcome. I was always comfortable during my visits. His office is extremely organized, and they communicated very well with me and my regular dentist. His staff are very courteous and efficient. This was one of the best dental experiences I've ever had (which unfortunately I've had too many of!). Dr. Cabrera is extremely gentle, patient, and was thorough in explaining my procedure - he went over everything with me during my consultation, before my surgery, and during my follow up appointment. He was also available for a frantic evening phone call after I got a "food particle" (how gross is that) stuck in my surgery site that caused some issues for me. So basically, he's the perfect periodontist. :), Exactly what you want your periodontist to be like - skilled, calming, and knowledgeable. The staff is also amazing - from the front desk to the dental assistants, all of them are super nice and down to earth. I'm only taking away a star for the payment policy - 100% due when services are rendered, even when you have insurance. I get that dental care is pricey, but it seemed unusual to have to pay all of the fees and deal with getting reimbursed through my own dental insurance company (especially because all of the fees are pre-negotiated). Dr. Cabrera's office submitted the claim to my insurance company right away, but it still was frustrating to pay so much all at once. Despite my claims about payment, I would go back to him in a heartbeat. He's that great. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Cabrera and his office. I had a gum grafting procedure about 14 years ago with a different office and it was an absolute nightmare, start to finish. So, to put it mildly, I was terrified about having to have another. This experience could not have been more different! I felt like the office staff took my anxiety seriously and no one ever had a "toughen up" attitude. Dr. Cabrera explained everything very carefully and I truly felt no pain, whatsoever. He was checking me over before they started the actual work, after I'd been numbed. He said,"I'm going to just check to see if you feel any sensitivity. Pressure is ok - that's normal - but pain is unacceptable." Wow. That totally helped put me at ease. I know I'll need to have other grafts done and I wouldn't even consider using someone else. He was clear about everything in the consultation and his work was excellent - no pain after the first day and after a week I pretty much had forgotten that I had had the procedure. I was really worried about it but it was as pleasant as I ever could have imagined. His staff was good with paperwork - as mentioned before you pay up front and get a check for the part your insurance covers, and I had the check in hand less than two weeks after I had the procedure. I have been seeing Dr. Cabrera for 17 yrs. I went to him after seeing two other specialists in the area. The other two wanted to immediately do implants on two of my teeth that had bone loss. Dr. Cabrera cleaned the areas with minor surgery and has been checking and cleaning my teeth every 3 months since. He is a true preservationist and an excellent periodontist. Being concerned you have an infection can cause a lot of anxiety and nervousness. I went to this office and saw Dr. Sabzehei, She was very thorough in her approach to my care and took both an x-ray and a scan. The results did not indicate any abscess but rather just tissue inflammation and possible infection. She suggested I got to the Emergency Department for an IV infusion of antibiotics. I am sure if it were not for her diagnosis and being proactive, I could have been in a much worse situation. I felt that she listened attentively and was understanding of my concerns. She answered my questions sincerely and made sure I understood what the x-rays showed. In the end, I went to Northwestern ER, got the IV antibiotic infusion as well as a take-home prescription and am now back to my usual self. I truly appreciated the patience, professionalism, hard work and commitment to excellent medical care that I received. read more

I don't think I have ever written a review before, but due to my experience and past I felt this was necessary and could be helpful for people like me. I have been putting off gum grafting surgery for 10 years now. I was 13 years old when I had my first appointment with a periodontist (I am 24 now), and I was mortified. More so because I overexaggerate the severity of any medical problem I am faced with, but also because I hate the idea of having something scrapped off, replaced, stitched and whatever else. After about 5 different doctors, 4 re-scheduled surgeries and countless nights of anxiety and fear I decided that I needed to take the plunge. Dr. Cabrera had great reviews online and so I pursued to schedule my initial meet and greet. Getting to the point, I wish that I would have never waited so long (and also met Dr. Cabrera 10 years ago), because my experience was absolutely everything I did not think it was going to be. I was relaxed, did not experience any pain, made comfortable and felt very understood. Dr. Cabrera was sympathetic to my anxieties and explained every step better than any other doctor I had seen in the past, he made sure to address all of my worries and fears and made me feel at ease. During the procedure (the part I was most afraid of), he walked me through the initial steps and in about 30 minutes I was all done! I seriously could not believe it. Now, I did take a day off work to recover, but I was up and awake, ready to go the day after. I did have some pain and swelling but nothing you could even notice. By Sunday (I had the procedure Friday morning) I was back at the gym and grabbing lunch with some friends. I would recommend Dr. Cabrera to ANYONE who needs to find comfort in this procedure and anyone who is looking for a professional doctor who really cares about his patients.
