Dr. Hapner and Mercedes are the team that make any AccuVISION location the place to be. I originally met them at Michigan Ave. and they mercifully moved near my parents in Schaumburg which allows me to still see them! Dr. Hapner is incredibly thorough in his examinations and always takes the time to ask about life, which honestly is so appreciated. Mercedes is the most amazing human I've ever met. My son who wears high prescription contacts ripped one while we were visiting from out of state. His bad for not packing correctly but it was a lesson. I called our big box eye Dr and they were no help. Their only option was to send it out here which could take 3-5 days to arrive ...,He just couldn't walk around basically blind for 3-5 business days. I called a bunch of optometrist and these guys were the only ones who could help us. And to top it off they were friendly, accurate, and had us in and out in a short amount of time. So I just have one issue with this place based off of my experience here. I had a 3pm appointment and showed up early (about 2:20) and they took me in early which was awesome. I went in for a contacts exam and everything was going well but then the Dr has trouble with the contacts he is trying to put in my eyes and says to me that we need to schedule a separate appointment for a lesson on how to put on contacts. Because after his 3rd attempt at putting them on they failed. He said he was running behind for his next appointment and couldn't finish today... yet my original appointment was at 3 and it wasn't even 3 when he told me that so no way he could've been behind. Point is now I have to waste another work day to come in because of this nonsense. Aggravating to say the least. Everything else was good cannot complain read more

I came here for an eye exam and to get new glasses. The staff here provide some top tier service! I was welcomed by Mercedes and Anna the moment i walked through the doors, and they checked me in promptly. Eye exam went quick and smooth, Dr. Hapner is on top of it! Afterwards they helped me pick out some frames based on the measurements of my face and head. 1 week later i get the call that my new glasses are ready, and due to them helping me pick the frames, my new glasses fit my face flawlessly, with no adjustments needed! read more

They want to charge twice for services that were already paid for!!! I have a current prescription for glasses from this location that is not expired. I even purchased my glasses from them at the time. I want to now purchase a pair of sunglasses online (since my insurance only allows one pair of glasses per year). In order to purchase from an online retailer, you need a prescription and Pupillary Distance (PD) which is the distance between your eyes. Accuvision wanted $10 to "re-measure" my pupillary distance (something they already measured when I purchased my glasses from them)! They claim that they do not keep this information and that the "distance between the eyes changes"...This is false and is just another way of getting extra money! Pupillary distance remains constant for adults. I will not be going back. read more

Although Accuvion is in network under my vision insurance, the resulting cost is 3 times that of getting an exam and glasses at Costco. Even with the insurance coverage, the glasses were over 3 times as much as buying them at Costco. I got a pair of sunglasses and regular glasses (progressive, with blue light protection, computer glare protection, etc.) for over $100 less than one pair at Accuvision for exactly the same thing. They are fairly nice and attentive, yet so are the people at Costco. You do not need to be a Costco member to go there for eye exams and glasses. Although Costco is not an in-network provider on my vision insurance, it was still way less expensive and my insurer (VSP) did reimburse about 40% of the cost of the glasses. read more

We are a family of 3, all of whom need glasses. And my husband also wears contacts. We have been going to Accuvision for several years and have never been disappointed. We even opted to go there when our vision plan wasn't accepted. Meaning we had to pay more out of pocket, but it was worth it. From the moment we walk in, and are greeted by name, until we pick up our glasses a week later, the service is nothing short of spectacular. And if something should happen be off, it's no big deal to just drop by to have them adjusted (fit, missing screw, or whatever) Dr. Helms is wonderful; very personable and fun to be around. He even had me laughing when I 'got to a certain age' and needed bi-focals, and then progressives the next time. As for the front desk staff, I never go wrong trusting Sherry's opinion when I can't make a final decision. She knows the stock on hand and can grab the perfect pair for any of us. When you wear something all day, every day, you want to look your best, feel good, and see properly. Sherry nails it every time. Plus they know exactly how to work with any insurance and/or vision plan to make our out of pocket expense as low as possible. Can't go wrong here! read more

The eye exams are uncomfortable for me (I don't like things near my eyes), trying on glasses is a pain, and its just not something I look forward to ever year... Until now! My vision insurance changed so I needed to find a new eye doctor and I really lucked out on the first try this time around. The girls in front are WONDERFUL. So welcoming and really made me feel comfortable right from the start. The doctor was very proffesional and explained different brands of contacts. then helped pick the best ones according to my daily routine. I liked that i was able to try them on "myself" during the appointment. From my experience i have gone to other places where i was charged separately for contacts and glasses. This is for Accu Vision Location at 1760 Wise Rd Schaumburg, IL 60193 Do Not Go Here ! I had them put lenses in frames I owned and Apparently they have another company create the lenses and they do a Terrible Job, lenses were too small for the frames and the lenses didn't meet the Rx/Prescription I provided. The Best they would offer is to Refund 50%, because they paid that other company for the lenses already. I gave them the opportunity to do the Right Thing and Refund my money for Defective Lenses but they Refused. Be Smart if this happened to You Dispute the Charge on your Credit Card. Don't Pay for Their Mistakes. This will make them change their Business Practices or at least find a Company/Lab that can make Lenses properly. Bad Business Practices read more

We moved to the area a couple of months ago and I was hesitant to trying out a new place but after searching reviews I'm glad I chose this one. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions and made me feel welcome. The doctor was great as well, I could tell he actually cared and liked his job. I picked out a pair of glasses with the help of the staff and I am very satisfied with my choice. I also picked my new glasses up later on that same day. I recently moved to the area and wish I read reviews first. The people there are very nice but they CANT make Lenses properly. I've tried twice to get the Lenses Fixed and the company they use to make lens is not good. Buyer beware I read the other reviews on other sites and they are right they will never refund you all of your money the best you can get is Half of your money, Wish I knew that before I went there. The staff member that helped us was incredibly rude. Every pair of glasses we tried on she immediately said no because they were too big. They do not offer smaller frames. She even told me I looked cross eyed. The rule is to try on glasses and put them on a tray so the staff can clean them. She did not do that and touched the glasses without gloves (They give you gloves). Incredibly rude, very odd experience, and would not recommend coming here. There were a lot of little problems that added up to me having a big problem and I won't be returning. First the sales lady was too pushy and told me what I wanted instead of giving me choices. Then, she said my glasses would be ready in 5-7 days. Then she made a big joke about how they would be ready way before that. So when I had not heard from them in a week I called and they explained they had to order my frames so it would take longer. I called back a week after that and they said they would be done in a few days, they just got the frames. I called back when they said they would be done to be told they would not be ready till the following week because they had been so busy. So instead of taking 3 days it took 3 weeks. They did add a small credit on to my account, but I had already paid for my glasses so it didn't do me any good! Also when I went to pick them up the store wasn't open at it's designated time and an employee was just opening the store 20 min late. The woman who had told me 3 days was there but seemed to be hiding in the back. Not a good experience, to say the least. read more

Had another great experience at Accuvision. My boyfriend and I just had our second eye exam and received new frames and lenses 3 business days later. As always Sherry was great, just as friendly as the first visit, that's why we went back this year again, good people, great service. Dr. Helms was great and he explained everything about the changes in our vision so that we would clearly understand how our eyes would react with the glasses on and off. We totally appreciate knowing what to expect, thank you doc! This visit we also met Bri, she is awesome. She has a real knack for finding the right frames for people. Her experience and taste helped me pick out frames that were totally flattering for me and very stylish. She helped my boyfriend as well and his frames are very nice and modern, great choice! The Dr was great. He really took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly examined my eyes. I felt very confident in his exam and explanations. The staff member that I worked with was professional but less than friendly. I felt that I was being up-sold with more expensive lenses and coatings. She even said that if I didn't take the more expensive lens that I would have to "sign off" for taking a less quality item. read more

The first time I went last year it was great everybody was nice and even though the glasses weren't ready when I was told and even when I was told to come back at a certain day and time to pick them up someone still struggled to put the prescriptions into the frame so after waiting another 30 minutes I finally get them. Well... Here we are a year later and my glasses broke and I go back in and am told I am due for my eye exam ok cool... Meanwhile I got a free pair of contacts but am not able to wear them at work and wear 4 year old glasses that I can't really see with and are hurting my eyes... I go in for my eye exam and everything is great- I love the doctor. Then I try on frames after frames and spend another good 45 minutes there and excited to call a day later to finally let them know which frame I decided to go with when the 2 ladies call me separately from each other one is saying ok everything is great we will order your new frames and the other one is saying well you're not eligible for an upgrade and the other girl shouldn't have called you because she doesn't know what she is doing and doesn't pay attention and she had to be called by two managers and had her last day there yesterday.... really???? I don't want to hear this as a customer those are internal problems that a customer should not have to listen to.... very bad customer service. So now I have to pay an additional fee to get my old glasses replaced and the excitement for the new frame is totally crushed while I know all their internal problems.... Not a happy camper right now and another thing I have noticed every time I go in nobody can find my sheet- it takes them a while to find my file- shouldn't you get them ready in the AM when you know who will be coming in this day??? They were helpful in selecting frames based on my preferences and maximizing my insurance benefits. I was informed of things I never knew, like "dont clean your glasses off on your shirt because the dryer sheets leave a film." Dr. Helms was extremely helpful showing me what my prescription was and the new prescription. He explained how my vision differed and was very very informative. Everyone at this location has EXCELLENT customer service and that's what makes or breaks a business. I will not be visiting any other eye doctor as long as they are in business! I visited this location on Saturday, 8/6, for a 9:30am appointment. I was so surprised with how quickly I was moved in and out for this visit. They first made it extremely easy by being able to do all the paperwork online prior to the visit. Once I got there I didn't even sit down before I was called back for my prelim exam. I returned to my seat for two-three minutes max before the Doctor called me back. He was a very nice man. Although there were others waiting on him, he did take his time to help me figure out the best contact options for me and I didn't feel like he rushed my visit with him at all. My insurance made everything affordable and the consultants that helped me with my purchase were very knowledgeable. They were a little pushier than I would have liked on the add-ons like transitions and anti-reflective coatings. I got through it and ultimately feel like I'm getting the glasses I will enjoy most. I would recommend them over many others in the area, especially since it's only a few minutes down the road from me! read more
