The level of service I received here deserves 6 stars! Last week I broke my glasses. Because I wear progressive lenses and my left and right eyes are not the same, I can't use cheaters. So I didn't have to be without glasses they made me two pairs on the spot to wear while I waited for mine to come in, one for reading and one for driving. The staff here were very professional, helpful, and eager to solve my problems during my visits. We've purchased two sets of frames and lenses here and the one for my wife was perfect. But mine has some issues with the optics and the frame, due to newly developed symptoms and my choice of frame. Harry offered me several generous solutions and worked with me back and forth to make sure everything worked toward my satisfaction. Even the glasses didn't work right out of the box for me, but Harry's service, sincerity, professionalism, and the attitude to make things right topped everything. Went here for an eye exam to get a new prescription for my glasses and to possibly order new lenses. The doctor himself was fine, explained everything in detail so not a problem at all. I always feel these exams go way too fast, and I worry if I made the right decision in the selection of different options. The... 1... 2... or 3.... uhhh... 3 I think. I get nervous because then I am stuck with this for a year!! After I met with he doctor, that's when EVERYTHING went wrong. I literally was put at the center attention of the entire office on choosing the correct lenses and felt really uncomfortable as everyone was staring at me and is now aware of my entire medical situation. The door wasn't even shut during my eye exam! I was quoted an amount for lenses, and had asked if I can take this quote with me as I want to explore other options and was flat out told NO. NO! That was my first stop, why would I just accept a first quote I receive? They tried to claim that they do an amazing job, and have amazing material they use, yet they couldn't explain to me what they use specifically? I got pissed, paid for my exam and left. Not coming here again. Doctor is great, but the owner I would stay clear as they really push to get your money. To respond to the owner: I didn't even know I dropped the business card! Apologies for that! However, again usually these prices are concrete as it's what you charge. I call any business and they tell me the amount with no problem, just give them the details of my script and bam I have the price. Now I won't be able to get any lenses at all until next year when I have insurance again, so my exam was a waste of money. I like how you had to dig into my reviews to see what I do in my spare time. I give many 1 star reviews so people will know the experience I have had, customer service has gone down greatly in many businesses and I will not sit still, that's why YELP exists is to express our voices and to call out businesses who aren't doing their best to earn people trusts and loyalty. I went to your place because you had good reviews but was disappointed when you couldn't accommodate a request, and then got angry when I said I would go get other quotes. You as a business should understand that people such as myself try to save money and try to educate themselves before throwing money out the drain! $180 is reasonable as you mentioned, especially compared to other locations I'll give you that, however, Costco offers this for $80. AGAIN, I mentioned to you I don't need anything fancy as I barely wear these glasses. I also apparently don't need the super thin lenses that your doctor gave me as my prescription isn't very strong and I found this out from another doctor, so this would have been an expense I didn't even need! Just a shame it all went down the hill and that I drove over an hour to you guys! Regardless wish you the best and sorry it didn't work as we both had hoped. read more

Absolutely the worst glasses I've ever had. I thought every thing went well with Dr. Alexander until I ordered new glasses. After paying the most and waiting longer than ever before I returned home and put them on only to find everything is blurry. I see better looking over the top of them than looking straight ahead. LOOK NO MORE! THIS IS THE PLACE! Please read the entire review! After years, I've finally found a GREAT Optical store and Optician here at Lens n Specs! I've been wearing glasses since the age of 3, and I just became eligible for Medicare, so that's more than 60 years! I've been searching for a new eyeglass store since my go-to store in Park Ridge changed hands and went downhill almost 10 years ago. I found another store in Hoffman Estates, but had mixed results. Recently, they (the old store) told me I needed to buy new frames for my new prescription, because their glasses are made in Mexico. I knew better, and walked out of the store. Then, I discovered Lens n Specs. I was able to have my prescription for new lens filled here at Len n Specs. They made the new lens so they would fit in my existing frame. I just had to return a few days after ordering them to have the new lens installed, while I waited. The owner and Optician, Mr. Parekh, did an excellent job ordering and fitting my glasses. The owner, Harsh (Harry), is amazing. He picks the frames for the store with incredible care and creativity. I got a pair that are virtually unbreakable and have no screws or glue... The frame was from a college student in Germany who won all kinds of awards for the ingenuity and quality of design. My husband wasn't even going to get a new pair of glasses. But he fell in love with a pair that was made from 100% recycled plastic out of the ocean. They are light, stylish and helping to heal the earth. Harsh also uses highest tech to fit your glasses perfectly to your face. You would be really missing out if you didn't at least check out Lens N Specs! read more

I am so glad I found Dr. Alexander! He is very nice and informative. I had some insurance issues and he was happy to help me sort it out. The exam itself was great, he talks you through each stage and explains what everything is for. My favorite part is when he takes a picture of the inside of your eye to screen for any diseases such as diabetes or HBP. He makes the glasses in his office and only took a couple of days. I now have my first pair of glasses and am so happy with the process. Highly recommend! read more

Dr. Alexander totally blew me out of the water at my appointment last night. He beyond exceeded my expectations. I went for a basic eye appointment for some new contacts, ended up getting both contacts AND glasses. He's extremely thorough and will walk you through everything he's doing and why. Very interactive too, which is great! He's got state of the art equipment and explains just what they're used for so you know exactly the type of level care you're receiving. (You actually learn what that blurry house on the hill is and what you're staring at a light inside a machine for.) Instead of going through the motions and making your eye appointment feel like another chore or errand, he turns it into an interactive learning experience. You get to actually LEARN what's going on with your eyes. I actually really appreciated the level of attention he gave and the amount of explanation for everything. To top that off, he was more than willing to help me out with insurance and claims. You really don't get treatment to this level at a regular chain. He's got an in-house lab in his office to cut his own custom lenses if you need glasses (which is practically unheard of). I was so impressed with the level of care from this guy, I decided to buy BOTH glasses and contacts. The best part is his flexibility with his hours. If his regular office hours don't fit your schedule, he's more than happy to see you at a time that works best for YOU. That was the big selling point for me. He's super understanding and pretty flexible when it comes to payments too. He let me put down a small deposit instead of making me pay my bill fully. I'll definitely be spreading the word. No eye chain will ever give you the level of care Dr. Alexander will give you. I found a gem! read more

One of the best doctors I ever had! Dr.Alexander was professional, educated and very thorough with his examination. He educated me throughout the entire process, and we found out that my current eyeglasses were way off my prescription and did not even have the prism that I needed, no wonder I was seeing double! He also has up to date equipment that not only checks vision but also screens for diseases like hypertension and diabetes. And the best part is that he gets the lenses ready the next day! read more

This man is not a nice person, nor is he anyone I will EVER go back and see. After insisting my son needed glasses and basically insinuating he can't see anything, I felt pressured to place a charge on my credit card for his glasses right away. He only has METAL frames and a 2 year old would never wear them- that's why they make toddler glasses (which I had asked about over the phone and was told yes). He fraudulently charged my insurance company for CONTACT LENSES for my 2.5yo sons glasses. I called back several times to remedy this and have been hung up on as recent as today. He will NEVER get a referral from us. He also claimed MY prescription was way off (something I am now seeing he says to many patients.) I have had the same prescription for years now. He is refusing to speak with my insurance company to rememdy this so my son can get glasses he will wear, instead of awful metal frames. He is completely unprofessional, (tried to bribe my child with Chocolate b/c he was scared) and makes you feel very pressured. I can see why his selections are a bit older and the office is a bit older/run down. His equipment he claims is state of the art, is simply the same you will find anywhere else, and is standard for the industry. If I could leave 0 stars I would. read more
