I had an excellent experience with Dr. Snehali Upadhyay at Advanced Eye Care of Hanover Park (the practice recently changed names, which is helpful to know if you're searching older listings). From the start, everything was smooth and modern -- I was able to complete all paperwork online and upload records from my previous eye doctors ahead of time, making check-in effortless. Dr. Upadhyay was extremely thorough and thoughtful during my exam. She took the time to clearly explain my results, walk me through how and why my prescription has changed, and discuss my eye health in a way that was easy to understand. I never felt rushed and felt genuinely listened to. It's easy to see why she stands out. Dr. Upadhyay has advanced post-doctoral training, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), and teaches at a local dental college -- credentials that are rare in a local practice and absolutely reflected in the quality of her care. The office is small, bright, and inviting, and the staff was kind, professional, and efficient, guiding me through each test seamlessly. They were also very transparent about insurance and costs, clearly explaining what was covered and what wasn't. The practice takes EyeMed, and everything was handled clearly and professionally. First time we come to this eye place. It was really busy probably because it was a Saturday. It very clean place the only thing the waiting area just has four chairs. I came for eye exam and the dr was very nice. The only thing I noticed they hand you a tray and you look for frames through the eye showroom. Normally eye places have someone help you out and choose your frames. read more

I started looking for a new eye doctor. That's when I came across all these good reviews about Dr Desai. Well, I have to say they are all true!! He is AWESOME!! He knows what he is talking about and took the time to explain everything to me on the phone and in person. He gave me suggestions as to what my options were for contacts. Gas permeable versus soft contacts. He was very informative during the eye exams. He went over things with me that no other eye doctor ever did. He now has a new patient! My eye doctor that I had been going to since I was in 3rd grade decided to retire. I was in shock. No one knew my eyes like he did. After doing some research, I came across reviews on Dr. Desai, and let me say that the 5+ star reviews were right on point. The office has up to date equipment (no more puff of air in the eye test needed). Marisol, front reception, has a keen memory, and responded to my needs immediately. Dr. Desai has a great bedside manner. From his patient demeanor to his thorough examination, you can tell he loves his job and he's gosh darn good at it. He took his time in fitting my new lenses; I never felt rushed. He addressed all my concerns and explained everything to me step by step. Ashamed to admit I haven't been to an eye doctor in about a decade so I have no idea what a good one is like but from my experience here, I have to say it went about as well as it could. I had appointments with both eye doctors here and they were both very nice and extremely professional. I, on the other hand, was basically a squeamish little girl because I can't stand anything touching my eye balls. They did their best to accommodate me and make me feel comfortable. This is a wonderful place! The staff is patient and kind and works with the whole family, toddlers included. Dr. Desai is what a doctor should be ... kind and patient. No matter how many patients he has, he is always friendly and takes his time and never makes you feel rushed. I was especially pleased with how well he took care of my children and answered every silly question they asked with humor and made them feel at ease. I was so impressed that I immediately set up appointments for myself and my husband. That's the other great thing about this place - how quickly you can get an appointment. When we arrived, Dr. Desai greeted us by name and shook our hands. I like the fact that he remembers who we are and he even greeted our children by name even though they didn't have an appointment and he wasn't looking at their charts. He actually remembered them and didn't need to be reminded of their names. The actual office is spacious and clean with new equipment and they have a pretty big selection of glasses available. School nurse told me that my son needs to get an eye exam. So of course I came back here for my second time. Today we got the female doctor and she was a sweetheart and informative. My son's sensory was kicking in when it was eye drops time. But she was very patient with him and everything else went smoothly. I've taken my mom to america's best for years but i know i'm switching her over to this place. I came here from all the great reviews online so I decided to give them try. I'm glad I did, they were so nice and very modern. My last optometrist is one my siblings had been going to. Even though they were modern they read my current glasses prescription wrong and also gave me the wrong prescription that was too high. Here they caught that right away and I didn't feel like my prescription drastically changed. No pain or discomfort at all. Both my boyfriend and myself went and we had a great experience and even learned a few things. I'll be coming back next year for another exam! read more

I went to The Eye Place after being treated poorly at another local eye doctor. After my eye appointment my husband and I both agreed we had not had as thorough eye exam at the other doctor. Dr. Desai was on time when we got there. She had performed the eye exams and explained her findings answering all of our questions. Her front staff were outstanding, they were pleasant and well trained. They were able to assist with any question. When I picked up my glasses yesterday they were again professional and pleasant to work with. Although the waiting is smaller there were plenty of eye glass choices and different price points. I found the doctor knowledgeable and easy to work with - I will be back again to see her. read more

The place looks really clean and organized but it actually isn't. I didn't realize this until I checked out their eyeglasses; I noticed the eyeglasses' lens were unclean and the shelves were dusty. Also, I didn't receive a complimentary lens cleaning cloth even though I bought a pair of eyeglasses with my insurance and paid $75 out of pocket for an anti-reflective lens coating. Also, the eyeglass frames they make here are made of cheap quality-definitely not worth their price. Not to mention, they didn't give me my eyeglass prescription; I personally had to ask them for it. By the way, Dr. Upadhyay seemed fake to me. At least she gave me a few coupons for some eye solutions. All in all, I didn't have a good experience here. read more

I hadn't seen an eye doctor in quite a while and was in need of a new pair of glasses and contact lenses. I decided to visit The Eye Place based upon someone else's recommendation who had received a good experience there. I'm so glad I chose to try it out! The facility is well organized, clean and has a nice layout with updated machines and processes. The entire staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The front desk staff was very professional, courteous and very precise with any important information I needed to be aware of. I had my eye care appointment with Dr. Upadhyay-Patel. The doctor was very thorough in completing my examination and explaining my best options to me. To be honest...I was slightly worried about my exam and prognosis since I already knew I had a preexisting eye condition going into my appointment, as well as the fact I had neglected going to an optometrist as regularly as I should've been (shame on me, I know.) Although Dr. Upadhyay-Patel put my mind at ease by taking great care and her time with my exam and then throughly explaining what was happening with my eyes. It took me quite a long time to select my new eye glass frames and to decide upon contact lenses which would best suit my needs. I felt like I constantly asked whether this frame or that one was a good fit for me...and so it was that much better of an experience for me when the doctor and her staff were patient and helpful throughout. That was a definite plus for me, considering I hadn't been to an eye care appointment in a long time and was badly in need of getting my eyes checked and an updated prescription! My experience at the Eye Place was great. Dr. Desai spent a very long time with me on the exam. He did tests I've never had done before, and gave me advice on how to keep my eyes healthy. I went in last minute for an eye exam and contact fitting. I had been a Pearle Vision customer for a number of years and thought that they were great - BOY was I wrong! THE EYE PLACE is the best! Dr Desai is the BEST!! This by far was the best, most comprehensive exam I have ever had AND they were CHEAPER than Pearle by almost 3 times as much! I suffer from headaches and migraines and part of the problem was that Pearle Vision had put me in contacts for the last 3 years that were too strong for me! WTF! It does not pay to shop at Pearle Vision!! Just because it seems like a "bargain" doesnt mean that it is! Thank you!
