I came here as my employer uses Aetna Vision insurance (instead of VSP) and they are in network. Then it dawned on me that Luxotica, who owns the major sunglasses brands (Ray-Ban and Oakley) as well as Sunglasses Hut and Lens Crafters operates all the Target optical locations so this is just like being at Lens Crafters. Luxotica also does most of the major brand frame licensing deals and if you're at a Target Optical, you will see the private label frames for the Target brands (Goodfellow and A New Day). People that work here are fine and you can find the major brands of frames. I ordered contact lens but in hind sight (no pun intended), it's cheaper to buy at Costco and get Aetna Vision to reimburse. If you have the Target Red credit card, you will earn the 5% off here despite being managed by Lens Crafters. read more

Unfortunately, there is not ten stars. I love Dr. Chang! He examined my eyes with amazing expertise and explained everything with infinite patience. He listened to what I said with attentanding and understanding; and answered all my questions with expertise and patienceful. If I compare him to the previous optometrist, Dr. Chang is much, much, much better. The ladies also, with endless patience helped me, despite my angry about EXTRAction transition. I was recommended target optical as a place to purchase my Meta AI prescription glasses. The sales people were unhelpful both when making my selection and when I came to pick up the glasses. When deciding, I didn't realize that there was a smaller frame choice as well as a matte black choice. For a $500 purchase, I would've hoped for better customer service. Also when I picked up the glasses, there were no instructions or recommendations from the clerk. Her only words to me were, "would you like a bag?" No thank you. Nothing else said. At this point, I think even a robot would be programmed to be a lot more helpful. read more

I had knew that the manager had differences with my aunt in the past but i thought we where all mature enough especially considering her position and how long she's been there too, and she would let me get my eyes checked but on the way out after we decided to not acknowledge her she made a rude comment to my aunt basically saying she wasn't welcome at that Target Optical, like it isn't a free open space and she never did anything wrong on her end let alone we where there for me. I've been coming to this Target Optical location for the past 3 years now. It's nice that Target makes it easy to make appointments online and will show availability at least a month out. It's been the same optometrist, Dr Chan, and same salesperson/admin, Selina, throughout these years. Dr Chan is thorough with his check ups and I like that he doesn't push updating me to a higher prescription every year. I used to feel more pressure of buying larger contact lenses supply and adding "extra" things to my eyeglasses from the salesperson, but this last time I went, she didn't add any pressure at all. Copied and paste from an email I sent out. Hello, Thank you for taking your time listening to the situation that I had this morning. I had a confirmed a 10am time slot for the Target Optical Rosemead over the phone. I have a confirmation txt and shown in the attachment. They also called yesterday for confirmation, in which I did confirm. I got there at 9:50am, a little early just to make sure I wasn't late for my appointment. At 10am the gates for the store was still down and there was a few dimmed lights. I called them to see if someone was there, and no one picked up. As I was leaving the store I called twice. The second time I left a message at 10:09 AM. I said that I had an appointment at 10am and I was there, but it wasn't open. Then requested if they could call me back when they are actually open. I then called the Target Optical East Pasadena to make an appointment. The Pasadena location didn't have any same day, but they were trying to help me because of my situation. They were kind enough to set me an appointment for the day after. At 10:39am I tried calling the Rosemead location and they finally picked up. I told them that I had a 10am appointment and they blaintly lied to me saying that the opened at 10am and someone was there. I was there at 10am and clearly it was still closed nor anyone being there. The person gave me attitude saying I'm sorry, but would you like to reschedule. I told them I got to check my schedule and that I would let them know. At this point I'd rather not give them my business and I have to drive a lot father for my Contacts Eye Exam. Something fishy is going on at this optometrist. TL;DR the staff in the front are rude, unhelpful, and straight up REFUSED to give a receipt upon purchasing glasses and prescriptions. And of course, come time to pick up my glasses, my pupil distance measures were off. This has never been a problem for me in the past. Just came back today (over a week later) and the lenses were still wrong. And of course, since they never gave us a proper receipt, this is going to be a headache to try and get my money back. You'd think that messing up something as simple as making prescription lenses is impossible but apparently it can be done. Dr Chan is the most thorough and knowledgeable optometrist in the SGV!! "eyes" down!! I had never knew or heard of progressive lenses and now I can't live without them as my vision deteriorates, the older I get. I would not go anywhere else. Another plus is his wonderful staff, Esthie has always helped me in finding the perfect eyeglasses, as it is hard to find glasses that fit my face. Been 4 years or so since I've lost the previous prescription paper I had but never cared to get a new one until recently. I booked my appointment for Thursday at 4:30p & had to wait a few minutes as Dr.Gary Chan was with a client ahead of me. They have a good selection of glasses here like Ray bands & Calvin Klein. The receptionists were also friendly. Before Dr.Chan was ready, he made sure to sanitize his equipment before proceeding. The process with Dr.Chan went smoothly & quickly. He was very patient with me, took extra care & gave me feedback on how to care for my eyes better. He is the friendliest person I have ever met & made me feel very comfortable. The eye exam itself only cost about $59. I would definitely recommend coming here as this was the best experience I have ever had, thank you again Dr.Chan. You're the best! read more

Worst customer service. I went to pick up my glasses and the front desk person just handed them to me. She didn't make sure the glasses fit correctly. The Target Optical in Pasadena is much better. They are more attentive, helpful, will make sure your glasses fit correctly and will make adjustments if needed. read more

Dr. Chan has been always great that both my wife and I have our prescription glasses and sunglasses from him. The 1 star is for the front desk lady and her trainee. I understand new employee will need practice to develop and improve. However, as an experienced employee (she said she had 10 years experience), you have to oversee the trainee and point out if there is something wrong and should be patient to answer customer's questions as you said you are professional. The trainee measured my wife's OC height carelessly, I asked the lady to re-measure it because the mark on the glass did not show correct position of my wife's pupillary. The lady was not patient at all and said "he did correctly". She sounds like "No more question, just pay and that's it". I asked her why the measurement differ a lot as my wife selected another frame, and she said"I am professional and i have done it for 10 years, It is difficult to explain to you" . I said "I have a master degree in Biochemistry, and if you explain a little bit, I can understand". Then I was told "Sir, you don't have to purchase the glass here". What a nice response! Maybe I might ask too much, but if my wife wears a sunglass with incorrect PD distance and OC height, I will blame myself not asking and questioning earlier if something happens while she is driving. You don't say you are professional, you show your profession by using your knowledge to explain and answer questions. read more

Dr Lee recomended my child see an eyespecialist for a large growth in her eye. She gave me a list to call and when I called they said they don't take kids. Welp , she dosen't even know who she's dealing with . After taking my kid to a specialist they said they didn't see a darn thing also my child didn't even need glasses !!!! Last, she wanted to up sale me with in depth checking of my eye to see it i have diabetes. I had to tell her several times not intrested she appeared upset . Will not go back to this lady. read more

I've never had an appointment here, but the service I've received from them was lovely from just checking the glasses out. all their frames are what I don't usually see at Kaiser, Costco and more I will be coming back because they have a wide variety and it's a small target optical business but I'm actually impressed cause they have more frames of the expensive brands (usually at other places they would only show like 5 or 6) and even more raybans Ive asked a couple of questions and they showed me my choices and their policy which was understandable and I'm glad I walked in. read more

I was a walk in, never worn glasses in my entire life but at 38 years of age was starting to feel like my eyes weren't the best anymore. I walked in and received a friendly greeting. Selena assisted me from start to finish and was perfect. She booked me an appointment with Dr. Lee who also was amazing. Dr Lee made me feel very comfortable & prescribed my eyes just right. Overall a good experience. Dr. Gary Chan was excellent, thorough, nice and professional and would highly recommend him to anyone. Also the general staff in the front was solid. One thing I would recommend for the optical store is whenever the customers order glasses or contact lenses to be delivered to homes or locations, for us to have the ability to track the shipment or regular updates on the delivery date or status. I'd give 0 start if I could! So unprofessional. I came here with my trust and hope that they'll do the great job. Beside Dr. Lee did an amazing job and caring on eye exam, the staff here is not responsible for what they did wrong. Caroline, she is unprofessional and not caring to customers service, when it's the most important thing while working at Target. I bring my own frame here to do (metal Gentle Monster frame) some of you who have knowledge about fashion, probably should know this brand is the high-end luxury glasses brand. Because my frame is metal with high prescription, would be hard to do thin glasses, I haven't been aware of it in the first place and Caroline hasn't consulted me first that metal frame with high prescription cannot be thinnest. I'd pay any amount for thinnest lens they can get, as I said with her in the first place, I want the thinnest, get me thinnest. She said oh yes yes, this option is the thinnest in our option. If she would have consulted me and tell me at the first, I'd already bought the frame there. When I received my frame at the first time, like expected, the frame is not thin enough for me. I paid $14 to make thinner and they said I'd have my frame in 10 days. 17 days after, I haven't received it. I called them, once again they are unprofessional answering my call that THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE MY FRAME AT. I can't wait anymore, so I came in and met Caroline, with her unprofessional behavior, I talked to her about the advice and consultation she'd have done first, she was like oh, it's your own frame, you bring in here, I cannot tell you whether the frame can make it thin or not. I'm like really !?! My mistake is not having enough knowledge to know the metal frame and high prescription would make the frame thick. But also they are the staffs who work at optical office, they'd have let me know about it! But they didn't, careless. She said ok cool fair enough and apologized with not nice behavior. She did check for me and said my frame was being sent to the wrong lab. She also said she'd check on the status and give me the call back, and she never did. I don't get it how come the big company and professional like Target Optical could send to the wrong lab? My next visit I come back and speak with the manager, she's seem nice and more professional. She did apologize and did check on my glasses status. After that, they did give me a call back to give me the heads up. I thought everything gotta be fine and I'll receive my glasses. Just this morning, they called me and said the lab did damage my frame by somehow and they're going to send back my frame. They gave me the option to choose unlimited whatever frame I like in the store for free and 20% refund of the glasses I paid for. I thought it'd be nice too. When I arrived at the store and checked out the frame they have, nothing fit my choice and deserves the price of the damage frame I paid for! I paid $300 for my frame with $260.03 for my glasses, almost $600 but now I only get back 20% refund with their unprofessional, careless service ? Even if they'd give me a choice of choosing whatever frame I like in the store for free, it ain't worth or equal the price of the frame I bought which is now a damage frame they've done. I didn't pay $260.03 to receive all crappy service, first sending to the wrong lab, second damage my own frame, careless and unprofessional. I am really disappointed and never came back. Even when they have damaged my frame, they said it's not their fault, it THE LAB'S FAULT, THEY DON'T KNOW WHY. The Lab'd link with their optical offices, but now all they're saying is they don't know they don't deal with the damage frame bc its not their fault. read more

Two stars is being generous. Other than the office itself being clean and organized, I just felt like another number to Dr. Alice. I made an appointment, (not that it was super necessary because it's usually empty and not busy half the time!), got in and out of there within 20mins or so. Pro: quick service. Con: not spending enough time explaining things and only providing the bare minimum information if I ask questions. The selection of glasses are limited but not bad and prices are decent. Staff obviously works off commission and also provide the bare minimum assistance when asked. What really bothered me was that Dr. Alice was uber soft-spoken and I did not want to be rude and have requested her to speak up. I'd only go back because of convenience and I get to stack with my Target red card. read more

Horrible! Plain horrible! I had ordered my glasses almost three weeks before I received them. I kept calling them asking when I should expect them. It seems that there was something wrong with the first pair and had to reorder them. However, no one called to inform me. And as a matter of fact, they said I would get a call back to better explain. No call was received. When I finally got a call back to get my glasses, they had totally messed up on my prescription. Now let's see how long it will take to get them.
