This was my first experience buying glasses and I went with friend who has worn glasses their whole life to help me know where to go and what to get.
At first I was really impressed. I got in quick, the ladies at the optical center were friendly, helped me get the information I needed and helped me pick my glasses. I was then told that I could expect a text message letting me know my glasses were in and it could take up to 2 days but no longer than 2 weeks. My prescription is really weak and only needed in 1 eye, they told me they wouldn't expect a light prescription like that to take too long.
A week goes by and I hear nothing. On the Monday of the 2nd week I give them a call to see if my glasses maybe arrived early. When I called I got the least enthused person in the world on the phone. No problem I thought, I'm just here for glasses I don't need enthusiasm.
I then spend the rest of the week attempting to get ANY information about my glasses to be either put on hold, asked to call back, or told I would receive a call back from the manager when she was off the phone with the lab.
Some days I would call back 3 times (not being rude, only because they asked me to call back or told me I would receive a call and I never got one) and each time it was a new weird excuse. At first I was told that the lab "never received my order" and in the same sentence/breath the girl on the phone told me "they are just waiting for 1 thing to come in" Well which is it? That my order wasn't received or that they are waiting for 1 thing? And then the excuse to not talk to me became "the manager is on the phone with the lab right now..." if that statement was true then the manager must almost never be off the phone because I would call back with 2 hours in between each time and NEVER get any new info.
When the 3rd week of waiting started I told them I NEED to know what sort of time frame to expect my glasses. I don't even need to know what the hold up has been I just need them ASAP because its preventing me from working to NOT have my glasses. And of course I get the same "Well we have never worked with this lab before....the manager is on the phone with them as week speak they have her on hold...I don't think i can give you a time estimate ma'am...we get our shipments in at 3 you can call back and see if they have shown up?"
I gave these people hundreds of my dollars perfectly happy to wait 2 weeks, however they wasted 2 weeks of my time and were completely unable to provide me any information about my glasses or when I MIGHT get them and their best guess was "another 2 weeks."
So I went in and got my money back.Within 2 hours later of getting my glasses order at target refunded I went to a same day place and ended up getting glasses frames I liked better, saved 50$ and got my glasses created in 30 min.
I am a huge fan of target, however the customer service in this department has made me really reconsider my love of the store. read more
