Excellent and friendly staff. Eye exam was thorough and all my questions were answered.

My husband came in to get his lens exchanged and the young lady helping him was so awesome. She offered to adjust and change out the nose piece as well! Very kind and attentive. Will choose this location for all our optical needs! read more

Doesn't get any better than this... Dr. Yukio Uehara is simply the very best at what he does. He has excellent and refined doctor-patient social interactions. He is also very thorough in explaining the process step-by-step and simplifies the results in such a way that it's easy to understand and digest. One of his most outstanding traits is that he is patient and carefully works with you. He also provides options and recommendations (to see an ophthalmologist) for those -if he notices a problem. He has a way about him that makes a person (me) feel very comfortable. So if you are reading this and get nerve racked at seeing an optometrist, let me tell you: He is the guy! It's worth the drive from South OC to see -even for a prescription! Go here. You won't regret it. read more

I payed $500 for prescription glasses and they had my information wrong and gave me the wrong prescription, because it's over the time they say there is nothing they can do. However I feel that if it's a mistake they made then they should make an exception. Now I have a pair of glasses I paid a lot for that I can't even wear. read more

Dr. Uehara is a very knowledgeable and engaging optometrist. I had only been treated by visiting staff at this Target Optical location in the past, so this was my first visit with him. He quickly read up on my patient history and saw that I had tried and sampled a number of different contact brands during last year's visit. After thorough routine inspection and testing, he identified my prescription and even ordered a sample of a contact lens brand I didn't try on my last visit. He also answered all my questions and concerns about being eligible for laser eye treatment. Very kind, supportive and engaging. A+ service. read more

One of my eyeglass lenses popped out and I couldn't put it back in. My regular optometrist was closed, and I really needed my eyeglasses fixed. I called Target Optical and they said to come right over. Irene fixed my glasses in literally less than 10 seconds, and wouldn't accept any payment for her help. While I was there, I glanced around at the frames on display, and I think that next time I need glasses, I will go to Target first! Thank you, Irene, for such wonderful customer service! You really saved the day for me. read more

I get my appointment and confirmation for my appointment on the web and email. I still want to call to confirm no one answered. I left message. No one called me back. I come to my appointment. The person lie and said he tried to call me couple times but didn't able to reach. I show him my recent. I even called to show that the number I earlier call was their number. Because he said they have couple numbers. It's ring. Before I left there and told him again they wasted my time and that they should call me. He mumbled and said OK. Sure I will not come again. It is OK not to accept my insurance but they should call read more

All I'd have to say is Ron the "manager" will never grow further he is very untrained and awful at customer experience. I drive the extra 15 minutes to go to HB target I suggest the same of everyone! He switched prices doesn't know simple ordering read more

I want to give a shout-out to Rob who helped me here on Thursday! I needed a frame adjustment for sunglasses and regular glasses because one was too tight and the other too loose. I have been trying to wear these as they were for several months but could no longer take it! (I had brought them to two other stores - not Target - for adjustments in the past but they took forever and the glasses were still uncomfortable).) I was very tired driving from LA to San Diego and happened to stop by this Target as a halfway pit stop and decided to see what the optical department could do about my conundrum. Rob worked very fast and did exactly what I asked him to do with my glasses and they turned out GREAT! I left with a smile on my face and could wear my sunglasses driving home without them falling off! Thanks! read more

I had an amazing experience today with Dr. Yukio! I've always gone to Costco or Wal Mart and the past 2 times I've been to Costco my prescription was way off and my vision was never fixed. They also sold me on their brand of contacts which I hated my eyes were so dry and itchy I missed my Acuvue! I finally was getting sick of my blurry night vision and found out Target has an optical department AND they accept the Target Red Card too!! My appointment was during the week on a Tuesday which made it very easy I was in and out in 20 mins with the doctor and I had tried on frames and had an idea of what I wanted before hand. So the entire process took maybe 45 mins from start to finish. I don't have vision insurance so everything was out of pocket for me. However they will price match Costco exam cost and/or give you $10 off with AAA for the Exam. The ladies at check out were AMAZING! They didn't judge me with my money situation and were happy to price check the contacts with Costco and they were cheaper so they hooked me up! I got new glasses today also after 10 years of having the same old pair. I splurged on Ray Bans and they had an amazing sale going on so I got 50% off and another $10 off with my AAA card for that and some other cool discounts. I'm not sure how long it's going to take to get them in but I can't wait at all!!! I've always wanted a cute new pair of glasses and especially Ray Bans. Thanks for helping my eyes today doc! Can't wait to get my new specs and contacts in. Highly recommend Target Optical over Costco any day! The doctor genuinely took his time and covered all of my concerns. read more

Horrible at communicating, disorganized and don't know what they're doing. Told me my lens benefit had been used when it hadn't (double checked online with my insurance). Said oh you'll have to call your insurance then gave me the number to the wrong company and then a disconnected number. Then after 1.5 hours of trying to figure out my insurance had another employee say oh it's probably because we don't take your insurance. If they can't even figure out what insurance they do and don't take how are they supposed to give people proper prescriptions. Poor training and quality target should get out of the optical business. Got my lenses from another company in under 15 minutes (with insurance). read more

I dropped by spontaneously after a different not-so-nice optical shop nearby wouldn't see me a little earlier than my appointment time. Target Optical quickly fit me in, and Andy helped me switch out my sunglasses lenses and adjust my other glasses' nose pieces efficiently and without any issues. He was also really patient with me while I asked for extra adjustments to the nose piece to make them sit perfectly on my face. Everyone there is friendly. Would highly recommend. read more

I went to see the doctor here (whose name I cannot remember I'm so sorry it's been a few months) because I had been working a desk job for a few months and my headaches/dry eye were off the charts, even though my actual eyesight wasn't too bad. My headaches would even turn into migraines at times. I told the doctor all my concerns and she was very compassionate and seemed to want to help me since I was experiencing a lot of pain. She told me I had a bit of an alignment issue which might be causing it and so I trusted her judgement and her prescription and ordered some glasses online. I've been wearing them for 2 months or so and my headaches and my dry eye is gone! So to the doctor that helped me: you were right! The strain on my eyes causing all the headaches and pain was due to the alignment. I have such a better quality of life at work now thanks to your help. I have a feeling many other doctors wouldn't have listened as thoroughly as not have given me the correct prescription for the issue at hand. The scheduling process was also very easy and everyone working there was a pleasure to be around. read more

Brenda was so kind, courteous and skilled! It's been years since I've purchased glasses from Target Optical. The current pair I needed help repairing were purchased from a newer eye exam/Rx glasses chain. They weren't very helpful with trying to repair my glasses a few weeks ago and my glasses eventually ended up falling apart. The need to get my glasses repaired suddenly became more urgent as I found out that I needed to go into emergency surgery. I couldn't wear contacts before surgery and didn't want to after surgery because hospitals have such dry air. So I decided to see if I could possibly get my glasses repaired at Target Optical in Costa Mesa and Brenda did it in less than 10 mins! She couldn't accept a tip for this vital service so I wanted to post this review out of gratitude and appreciation for Brenda's kindness and excellent customer service. She saved me!!! read more

They made me go twice first because they were understaff and they didn't have someone to help me even though I schedule my appointment... now they moved my appointment without telling me and clearly the staff knew and I showed up... waste my time and the manager made it seem like it was my fault... worse service ever... read more

To Whom it May concern: With this review I would like to compliment two of your employees ( Melissa and Kimberly ) for the excellent service I received at your optometrist office. This type of professionalism and commitment to the highest level of customer's satisfaction has to be acknowledged. For a few years I've been looking for a nice pair of prescription Oakley frames but the independent offices that I visited were not an authorized dealer and the ones that were, the prices were just outrageous. While having a conversation with one of my coworkers, he suggested to go to Target so I checked with Google for the nearest branch and your location came up right away. I called to make an appointment and as soon as your staff answered (I believe it was Melissa), I felt that I was being treated with respect and courtesy. When I got to your office, I noticed that your selection in glasses is just phenomenal and the prices are fair but like I mentioned above, the service Kimberly and Melissa provided me is just off the charts professional. Let me tell you that I get a lot of compliments on my Oakley frames and by the way, I gladly tell people where I got them from. Lastly, having in mind such a pleasant experience with your staff it would be my pleasure to continuew doing business at your branch. read more

Good service; I have no optical insurance, so I pay a pretty penny, but they usu have a pretty good sale or coupon running, alas, no more AAA discount, and Target discontinued my red card. read more

Run away!!!! Their scheduling is a nightmare, then when they finally did see me - the doctor was quite short and unfriendly to me. The exam was frustrating. She rushed me in and out without really listening to my concerns. Then I went to place my order for prescription sunglasses (I have an old pair from another place that I LOVE and I wanted a new pair). The glasses took forever come to come in, and then when they did I put them on and I legit saw DOUBLE. The prescription was way off. I had to make ANOTHER appointment to get rechecked by the other doctor, who was nicer but also pretty complacent. He corrected my prescription to the old one that my old sunglasses have, so I figured that would be foolproof, right? Nope, two weeks later my new "corrected" sunglasses show up, and they're awful. The ground below me looks wavy and they make me sick to my stomach. Especially when compared to my old ones. If the prescription didn't change, why aren't the glasses the same? I took them back in and she tells me that my old pair aren't polarized (they are) and that the new pair are, so that's why it looks weird, and pushes me to "take them home" to try out. I tried to wear them the next day, before I even put my old ones on (no comparison), and they immediately made me nauseous. Upon further inspection, the lenses don't even fit into the frame, on the bottom you can clearly see almost all of the beveled edge. Shoddy craftsmanship, 0/10, would not recommend. Go elsewhere. read more

The staff is super super nice. They were super patient with me choosing the right pair of glasses. To be fair they were so HELPFUL and customer service is AMAZING! My only problem is the actual glasses, they are not comfortable. The prescription was made there by the Dr. At first they were ok and it didn't bother me but now when I wear them they cause me a headache and when I don't wear them I still get a headache due to my poor sight. I'm not sure what would be the answer to this issue with the glasses, but I know I would not get my glasses done there again. Don't get me wrong, the staff was so great, it's just the glasses so bad read more

Very easy to make an appointment and got scheduled the following Wed morning. The Doctor was friendly, informative and went above and beyond! He has been the best one that I've gone to and helped me find the right lens. At other practices they tend to use the eye drops that make your vision a bit blurry/sensitive and I have never liked that. He uses the "air puff" test which was better and easier. Also, he let me know towards the end that he spotted a small line in my cornea that may indicate a genetic trait or something may be up with my health. I love that he let me know so I can go get it checked out! I was able to pick out some frames and order same day. They said it was an ETA of 7-10 days but I got them on Friday! I will go and order my prescription sunglasses this weekend! Highly recommend! read more

Go here to get an eye exam, as it was approved by my insurance. Gal at front desk takes my insurance information and starts telling me all the discounts I would get with my insurance on lens and frames. Go in for eye exam and Dr says that will be 60.00. I said my insurance allows for annual free exam. Gal at front desk, says the Dr. is independent from Target and will not accept your insurance. Target employee never advised this prior to exam. Thank God for American Express. PS - As the gal is running my card, she says in the future we will advise about insurance prior to the exam. Asked how does that help me? read more

Scheduled my appointment online only to come and and not have my appointment on the books. Irritating and completely inconvenient - I planned my work day around this appointment read more

I'd never had my eyes checked before (like..ever), so I was kind of nervous going in. And was pretty adamant that I didn't want my eyes dilated. It was a HUGE relief to find out he didn't need to do that, and I think that made me much more relaxed about the whole situation. The dr. is fantastic and really made me feel at ease. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews here, actually, because he really was that great. The whole process took maybe half an hour and I learned that I don't quite have 20/20 vision and I will benefit from slight prescription lenses. I also learned I have freckles on my eyeball. If you've never been and are interested in the process, it goes a little something like this: They have a machine that blows a puff of air on your eyes. They shine a light in your eyes. They show you a million different lenses and you choose which ones make the letters and numbers more clear. I'm sure it's a lot more technical than that, but that's basically what I got out of it :) I thought it was rather fun and now I get to pick out a cute pair of glasses! read more

I'm tired of paying higher prices for eye exams at private optometry offices. So why not go grocery shopping and get my eyes checked at the same time! It's located right next the the pharmacy. It gets busy here since there's an abundance of foot traffic and convenience of the location. So you gotta make an appointment ahead of course. The front receptionist was very friendly. Dr. Uehara was the resident optometrist there and he is awesome. He's super friendly, knowledgeable, and even chats with you. He explains everything he does to not make you uncomfortable. He also has good handwriting on the prescription! How many doctors can you say have that? I was out of there within 40 minutes and continued with my shopping duties. Awesome! read more

I've been wearing glasses since I was 13. Most optical offices are friendly enough. I mean how can you mess up being an optical office? Yet somehow Target Optical exceeded any other experience I've ever had getting my eye exam. I felt like I was a long time friend of the doctor. He was so awesome! Make sure to make an appointment and give yourself enough timr to really check out the IMPRESSIVE glasses selection that they have. The associates were so helpful and friendly with helping me pick out the right glasses. The best part? My glasses were ready the next business day! read more

I looked online for available appointments. I called them to see what my price for an exam would be with insurance. I explained to the employee that answered the phone that I saw and wanted the 1:00 appointment. There was an issue looking up the insurance info(NOT Target's fault), and she said she would look into it and call me back. I figured out the issue with the Insurance before she called back, so I called to let her know so she wasn't searching for something she wouldn't be able to find. She then proceeds to tell me that the 1:00 appointment wasn't available anymore. Why did she not save my appointment?!?! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!! I am sure the Doctor is wonderful and I have nothing bad to say about the exam, facility, or Doctor, as I wasn't even able to make an appointment. Thank you Target employee. I hope you have a great rest of your day, which you should, as YOU were not inconvenienced at all. read more

6 STARS!!! Nicest, friendliest, most helpful... ...you know ..... when 5 stars aren't enough. Yeah ... I know there's only 5 but Yelp should have a 6th for businesses that are so outstanding it made you believe in customer service again. I called about 11 am and said I needed to see the doctor ASAP (I ran out of contacts and had a minor panic attack). She (Danielle) got me in to see the doctor at 1:30. The staff: "most likely to brighten your day". ...friendliest, nicest, helpful ... Ok I've said this before but seriously... the best! The doctor: Such a nice guy.... and patient! I asked quite a few questions and he made me feel comfortable asking so many (I dread wearing glasses in public so I wanted to make sure). He gave me a couple of samples to try out so that I can make the right choice. I put in the first pair and put away my dorky glasses. Freakin' made my day! read more

Absolutely impressed with how efficient and fast my service was. I thought it was going to take me a few visits to get an apt, and to order/get my glasses. I walked in and they immediately took me back to see the physician. He was very professional, and funny. :D The transition was very smooth. I was able to order my glasses same day, and not only did they accept my insurance, my glasses arrived only 5 days later. Usually I would wait about 3-4 weeks. I highly recommend this location. Thank you Target :P Pro; They have a wide selection of glasses to choose from. Which makes the process even easier. read more

Had such a great experience with Dr. Uehara at Target optical! So let me preface by saying I tried going to Costco and it was a nightmare. It was super busy and it was just chaos. I made the appt the day before for Target Optical and came in right when they opened so I was the first there. I was on my last pair of contacts so I needed a new prescription. Dr. Uehara is super nice, really friendly and professional! It was also very calm and quiet at the office (compared to Costco)... I could hear myself think! I came out with my new contacts (on my eyes), new boxes of contacts per eye, a new prescription, and two mini contact solutions! read more

Super quick. Personable. Got me in same day. Much easier than LensCrafters which is like trying to book and Appoinment at an Apple Store. I was 15 mins late....regardless....DR was very nice, thorough, and got me out of there in 21 mins. Fantastic service. Second time back. Good selection of Eyewear. Massimo, Oakley, Dolce, Raybans, etc. Only negative is they don't have their own lab so although cheaper the wait can be a week or so. read more

Pricey. I don't have optical insurance, and was told by Melissa at the front that an exam would cost between 110 and 130 depending on lenses and or glasses rx. I asked for only lenses, but was written an rx for glasses too. Then I was charged 175 for an exam that was quick but really rushed feeling. Was not offered a list of options for contacts either, she just gave me the more expensive options for ones I used to wear. The people are nice, but that's simply too get you comfy so you spend more than you bargained for. read more
