UPDATED REVIEW: This Target location is generally my local go-to store for items that I know they carry. I have had few complaints about the store, even though it is small and limited in what it stocks. I commented to an employee about the self checkout section being closed. He said it was closed due to recent changes in Long Beach laws, and they didn't exactly know what to do as of yet. Meanwhile, there was a line in the regular checkout that was 20-persons long. I can offer a suggestion as to what to do in this situation: ADD A COUPLE of cashiers. ...Since the above review I have visited a couple more times and things have improved. This is a quick stop place for almost everything. This place is 1/4 or 1/5 of normal size of Target. Parking can be tricky but if you're here at certain time, it okey to get the parking right infront since the parking lot is small for the shopping area, especially a lot of restaurants within. The place got everything that you need daily but in smaller area size, they do have grocery section that have a lot of choices since a university and a hospital is nearby so it's easy do them to stop by to grab some fresh fruits or frozen foods for reasonable prices. Staff are generally nice & helpful but I had seem unfriendly and "don't care" attitudes too. Overall I came to get what I need to get and I left...not interact with staff much and self pay too. This Target store is relatively small in scale, and they ran out of stock quite a few things I wanted to buy. The staff members were quite friendly though, helpful to navigate to the aisle and check out efficiently. read more

Stopped by to buy a gift card and a greeting card on my way to a baby shower lunch. No registers open, only one self service register and a big line. It seems like during the lunch hour on a week day, there should be a couple more registers open. read more

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but I'm shocked at how awful the service here is. I needed help finding batteries, and I approached two employees. Kelly was one of them, but I can't remember the other girls name. They were laughing and both looked annoyed when I approached them. When I asked where I needed to go, Kelly looked at the other girl and rolled her eyes and then told me. They laughed as I walked away. After that interaction, I went to the register and a girl with pink hair barely acknowledged me. I asked if I could get a bag and she just stared at me like I was stupid. Today, and in the past, I have gone in to return something. The employees walk right by you without even acknowledging your presence. Today, three walked by without a word. The cashier nearby said nothing. The security guard just stood there. I was never helped or greeted until finally i stopped one of the girls that had already walked by twice and asked if anyone was going to help me. She said "yeah, well I work outside" and walked away with dismissive look on her face. The cashier overheard and smirked. I will never go to this target again and will think twice about any target. I don't like Walmart but at least I'm greeted there! Also, there is never any parking as they don't monitor their parking and people park for the college and there is often not a single space for an otherwise empty shopping center. read more

I live close to this so I usually come here to run errands and other things. But it's usually a spot I dislike going to due to the staff and the odd characters you can find. For example. I was with my friend trying to buy a quick bite from Starbucks but the barista was on her phone and giving short and rude answers. We decided to keep it cool and ignore it. Everything was fine other than her attitude. Her body language was very judgmental to me and my friend. Maybe because we got an iced macchiato as two men. But whatever. As for the store itself the options are super limited. Most things are out of stock or available online. Some things are already opened or broken from people stealing. It's not too expensive but it's not too ideal. But nonetheless some of the staff are pretty cool people. read more

I've only been to this target a few times so I can't speak on how it is all the time but I went in tonight around 730pm to buy a small tv for my room and I was helped by someone who was very accommodating! I forget his name but he works in the electronics section and I had explained to him about how in the past I once bought a tv from target that had been cracked straight out of the box and how with the new TV I was buying, I wanted to open it up in the store after I purchased it just to make sure, that way I don't have to make an unnecessary trip back to return it. Anyways, he carried the TV to the customer service register for me (which made the process a lot easier to inspect the box instead of at a regular register), I bought it, and they let me borrow a pair of scissors to open it up and check it out, and the TV was good. I was mostly pleased just because I felt like this employee was understanding enough of my past experience and he even helped me take the TV out of the box and helped me put it back away in the box, just to ensure it looked ok and make it easier to put away since they are kinda awkward to unbox and box by yourself lol either way, just one small interaction at this target felt meaningful to mention in a review because his friendless, patience, and understanding stood out to me tonight read more

Considering this is a slow traffic college target, yall should speed up the customer service process. They got rid of the self check out but have 1 person checking people out item wise. I waited in line with like 10 people for a solid 6 minutes until my patience wore and I said "I don't need these items" set everything down and left. Target Express, Mini Target, whatever you call it, this Target is small! But it works. Take everything a regular-size Target does and condense it down. Getting in and out is easy and this is a bonus for the people that work and live in the area. Don't expect to find everything you're looking for but you might find just what you need. For those other things, you can just head north on Bellflower for a couple of miles to the larger Target. This one here caters to those quicker stops you have to or want to make. This location is organized and I found what I needed what I needed fast, that was great. Went to check out, no registers were open but there were four employees standing at customer service counter carrying on in personal inappropriate conversation while looking unapproachable (avoiding eye contact/looking away). Went to self checkout because that's all that was open and they had several open with no workers around, thought that wasn't allowed anymore? Since I was buying cough syrup I needed an employee to check my id, waited a bit and looked over at the counter where all the employees seemed to be and they continue on their conversation oblivious as I try to get their attention. Walk up to their counter and all but one turns away and they carry on talking and cussing "dead ass" this and "fuck" that. Cherry on top, as I'm leaving I see the "security" guy on his phone while he's supposed to be watching the door or whatever. Seems like a chill place to work but crummy place to shop. read more

Horrible employees that are completely clueless of anything, horrible customer service and especially horrible managers. They never respond to calls and don't help at all. The main HR manager Marissa is a idiot who deservers to be fired for being so incompetent. Takes 30 minutes for them to open the bathroom and do open things. Wow, what an experience! I came to Target to run a few errands and left feeling like I survived a low-budget Hunger Games. First mission: Find a restroom. Easy, right? Wrong. I asked the Starbucks barista, who cheerfully told me "aisle C16" like I was about to find a magical oasis. Spoiler: I found a locked door. After performing an interpretive dance in front of the help monitor for 10+ minutes (no audience, no assistance), I went on a quest to find an employee -- kind of like Pokémon, except much harder. Finally found one! I asked if she could open the bathroom. She said she'd "send someone over," then proceeded to finish a very important gossip session with another employee. Honestly, glad I could witness such dedication to workplace morale. Customer service? Absolutely dead and buried out back. Then came checkout, which was just chef's kiss levels of chaos. Ten self-checkout stations blinking sadly into the void, while one poor soul handled all returns and anyone buying anything that needed an ID check. Hope you weren't in a hurry! And if you brought cash? Cute. Half the machines treat cash like it's an ancient artifact they've never seen before. Also, love the new Target motto: "Everything's locked up, and no one's available to unlock it." It's like a scavenger hunt, except no one wins and everyone just leaves angry. December 15th at about 7 pm, Diana from the Starbucks in this Target was unfortunately very rude upon my order. When she handed me my drink I realized i ordered my drink incorrectly, i kindly asked if i can have something else (it was my fault) , in response Diana gets very mad and claims "i would make it correctly if you werent so rude" and tries to mock me in a way i never reacted to her. I was left feeling super confused and said that was not the case whatsoever,, i then ask for a refund and left. Called corporate and filed a complaint fortunately, hopefully Diana does not do this to anyone else. People have bad days but you do not speak to someone like this especially coming from starbucks. Please be cautious when coming to this Starbucks because Diana may just turn on you. read more

The one cashier they had just walked away, and when he was on his was back, started talking to a girl, then walked her to the register and rang her up. Legally in the state of California, Target has to have one available working restroom for customers and employees. They told me "restrooms are closed", which leads me to believe all their employees are holding in their pee and poo all day. Actually super gross. This location was smaller, more like a neighborhood shop vibe than their usual stores. It was nice because we were able to pick up what we needed without having to walk through the entire store. This store have plenty of self checkout stations but if you're purchasing alcohol or more than 10 items that doesn't help! They had one person doing regular checkout while also taking care of returns, exchanges, and pickups. The poor fellow was doing their best while calling for backup as the lines started to quickly form. It took about another 10+ minutes after that to got out of the store. The store was organized and clean. I didn't appreciate being followed around by undercover loss prevention while I'm with my children and my friend. Prior to that the girl working behind the Starbucks counter was giving off so much hostility. She wouldn't look me in the face, would walk away without saying anything. When I asked her if she had any more cake pops she told me she didn't. I'm not sure how true that is, but I could tell when I'm being profiled. Being discriminated at a Target has never happened before. Management needs to train their staff better, this shows a lack of leadership and failure to properly train employees on how to not be racist. read more

They had 4 on the shelves. We each grabbed one. Hope the others were appreciated as much as these 2 were. We also grabbed a few other necessities. Bananas and mouthwash. Plenty of parking. This Target used to be so easy to get in and out of, but as other reviewers have mentioned - this is no longer the case due to the self checkout being removed. This is by far the most inconvenient Target to shop at now. No matter the time of day, they usually only have 1-2 cashiers available to ring people up, even during peak shopping hours. It's extremely inconvenient to have to wait in a 4-8 person line with only one cashier available. Some of us are simply trying to pick up a couple quick things, while others have a whole week of groceries to buy. Nonetheless, it's just poor customer service to not buy able to conveniently buy your things. I have had to drop my items and walk out many times for this reason. read more

This location is convenient, however, I do not feel safe going to this target due to the panhandling and loitering in and around the store. I've been cornered while inside the store by people asking for money. I cannot enter the store without being harassed and cornered for money by people loitering outside the store. It is a constant occurrence. I do want to be clear that although there are several other businesses located right next to the target, there are NEVER any panhandlers even near them. read more
