I used to love, love, love Target, so much so that if I could get out there without spending over a hundred dollars it was a miracle. Lately not so much. Still really like the Target but I don't seem to be able to find the great bargains that I used to. Also, I am not so fond of the grocery aspect to the store. Let me preface this review with the fact that I have been to several Targets up in MN. So this one is OK, compared to them. They have a nice selection, but it is much smaller than what I am used to seeing up north. They keep it clean and neat and well stocked. I looked for a few items that I found in MN (like a special on Jones soda for Halloween) but they either never got it, or they ran out. But they do have a good selection in the grocery aisles, baby, and housewares. Don't get me wrong, it's a good place to find a lot of stuff, and I don't have to drive too far. The help is non existent until you get to the checkout, but that isn't unusual. read more

This store was opened less than a Year ago. They have all Target items that you find at any of this kind of store but lately I'm pleased the brand is increasing in quality and offer. First, I agree that the new configuration makes the store hard to traverse. Like trying to find your way out of a maze. But today I'm more annoyed. The store was pretty crowded considering there's a pandemic going on, and part of Target's mission SHOULD be to move people out through the register lines as fast as possible. There were only 3 registers open at 2:15 and the line I was in essentially wasn't moving. I was third in line and still third in line 10 minutes later. The cashier did not call for assistance and no store employee walked by to speak with. The other registers also had at least 3 people in line. Finally, I went to a little stand that said "check out" and told the employee that it's funny there's about 20 registers and only 3 open. He said that usually they get people through quickly, and I disagreed...I shop at the HP store all the time and I'm lucky if once in awhile I get out fast. THEN he said "that's not true" and I feel, what? Calling me a liar? Annoying. She goes above and beyond- I had purchased an item and was a few cents short of getting a coupon- she applied it for me anyways- this is in true spirit of the target spirit- since target has great service! This is one of my very favorite Targets. CLEARANCE here is AWESOME! Yes, my name is Ann, and I'm a Target-a-holic. That said, I am sooo addicted to making my hour-or-so rounds through this store in search of some good stuff at 50% off. It's seldom that I'm disappointed. I've gotten much of my teacher wardrobe (needs to be conservative and be able to be pitched if too paint-stained, glue-stained, booger-stained, etc) on the 75% off rack. VERY NICE. I've gotten all sorts of little extras that I normally would pass on, just because they're in my price range. Very disappointed. Makes no sense. I used to love this store and shop their 3 times a week if not more. Let me preface something. I've been in sales for 25 years. I do consulting as well and I mentor other sakes people. I have a patented product that I brought to market and currently have 3 film projects all in pre or post production where I'm the exec producer or creative. I have a design background as well. Ok , are you telling me that target hired a professional consulting firm , paid them millions of dollars to make their stores look like Kmart from the 1970's I realize my comments on this don't matter but here's what does. I'm not going in this store again. I can't be the only person to feel this way. Before they re configured it looked great. It was clean. It was easy to find anything. At the end of the day target is supposed to be a simple store to get a variety of items. Almost like a Walgreens on steroids. NOW, it's 1 big mess. So they moved racks in every direction possible. They didn't redo the flooring so nothing lines up which gives the effect of a mess and you can't tell which direction your facing let alone find anything as swiftly as you would like. I'm sorry, I'm not going to Disney , I'm going to target. Any way, terrible consulting group , and I do predict in 2019/2020 the closing of target stores. They really were great. Big word "great". Now they are on path of Kmart. How are they doing ? Mish mosh. Instead of spending millions to change the store to retro Kmart lol, they could have hired 8 more employees to help out. When I attempt to buy myself some time on my commute home, I like to stop here and get some errands done. They have a great location, ample parking and everything you want out of a Target. Plus, the cashiers are very friendly and plentiful, which as you know, can be a problem sometimes. read more

I hesitate to share our secret, but this Target is a destination for the wife & I during the last week of the year. Why? Because their Christmas section on December 29 is nearly as well-stocked as most Targets would be on, say, December 20. This past year, we went on 12/26, and practically everything we could have wanted was FULLY stocked -- and better yet, half-price. I don't know whether it's always nearly empty or perhaps the Highland Park population isn't into bargain-shopping with the masses... at any rate, this was one of the most relaxing & productive after-Christmas shopping sprees we've ever had. I am usually at the Target in Glenview and was really impressed by this one. The aisles seemed wider and the store seemed cleaner than the Glenview store. Everything was easy to find and the clerk got customers through the line quickly. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I stopped by this store with my family on Mother's Day. I don't live in the neighborhood. I am an hour away without a car. I got wrongly charged twice and didn't check my receipt before I left. I work and attend school. Now I can't get my money back unless I return to a Target store in the next few days with proof of receipt. In the city Target stores are few and far between. As is public transportation and my time. I shouldn't have to be so inconvenienced especially when in reality this is theft. I have spent an hour on the phone with corporate trying to get my money back and they won't give it to me. Even though they found my receipt. It is very clear a mistake was made. If a large corporation like Target can't refund $10 there are some major issues there. read more

I just moved into the area from Los Angeles and all I have to say, after being in this store four times in one week, is A+ for customer service!! The woman at the checkout stand knew my name and asked me, "how my move is coming along?" Not to mention that another woman the first time I was there, gave me a list of places to see and things to do in the Chicago area. They made me feel very welcome. I love this store!! read more

This store is the closest one to my home, but I will not be returning. Luckily there is a target store near my work that I can shop at instead. Awful customer service. After being told by a very unhelpful Patrick to "call the 1800 number" because my return of a defective coffee maker "could not be handled at the store level", which was untrue, according to the customer service representative with whom I spoke, they lied to the corporate representative who called them about the transaction, saying that I had tried to return the coffee maker without the carafe. That was absolutely not the case; I brought in every piece of the unit. Luckily, their corporate employee believed me and agreed to credit me. Looks like I'll be driving to Wheeling or Glenview the next time I need to make a Target run. read more

The worst Target I have ever gone to. Came in for the first time yesterday and the passive aggressive nature of their Management is ridiculous. I picked up a clearance dress for $8.98 apparently it was tagged incorrectly (didn't know until later) and rang up for $12.48. I didn't notice until I was in the parking lot. I went back in to guest services explaining I was charged incorrectly for the dress. Not only was I accused of changing the sticker they refused to adjust the price based on whatever "policy" that they changed three times while I Stood there. The young lady that was the front end manager was extremely rude and passive aggressive. I contacted guest relations for assistance because it was about the principle of the accusation at this point and they advised the manager on duty would honor the $3 price adjustment. I waited 30 minutes for this manager because I could hear her and the other front end manager behaving immaturely and taking their time to get to the front. She was so wrong in her approach. I overheard them over the walkie talkie being immature and unprofessional. I was there with my newborn son and he was fussy. She eventually adjusted the price down by $3 but tells me people switch tags in their store all the time. Ummm ok...I understand the process and am very reasonable but is there any discernment or comprehension that every case is different? It was absurd what they were doing. Besides I am not that hard up for $3. Both managers were on a serious power trip. Grossly unprofessional and immature. Also several other guests had complaints while I was up front complaining about the service and management as well. read more

This is by far one of the best Target's around, and trust me, I've been to many different Target's. The store is clean, the aisles seem to be large (maybe no different, but they seem spacious), and the shelves are typically well organized (when compared to other Target's). It is definitely hard to not drop a large amount of money when visiting such a nice store. I always come away with things I never knew I needed... ha ha ha. Lastly, the grocery store part of the store is nice, but I often don't purchase much from it unless I'm really in a pinch, as I typically pick up whatever I need from either Sunset or Costco. Nonetheless it's nice to have an option to buy what you need when you're not at a grocery store. read more

This Target is amazing for me. Not only because it's so close, but because it's very clean and it's not too crowded. Everything is also very organized so it's very easy to find exactly what you need/want. I also like how they have a pizza place with snacks, drinks, chairs and tables if you want to sit and eat. This is also very clean. This Target has a lot of cash registers, yes. But the problem is that they only have two or three people at cash registers out of the twenty-something that they have. This becomes a problem for me whenever I am in a rush because most of the time I just need to grab and go. Maybe they could either put more people at cash registers or install a self check out for people to purchase on their own. If I can avoid Target (any target, but especially this one), then I do. Pricing is frequently incorrect, multi-packs are often more expensive than purchasing single items even though they claim that the multi-pack is less expensive, the employees are never helpful, and shopping there is annoying. Then when you get to the counters - it's even more so. They have upwards of 30 (thirty) counters available to be staffed with a cashier. Yet, on average there's one or two, and they're staffed with the slowest cashiers on Earth.. The lines are long. And there's always some other customer who can't figure out how to bring a coupon that's not expired, or how to swipe a credit card, etc... My time is worth money - I refuse to waste it standing in line at Target or any store. When stores make me wait, I go to stores that don't make me wait. What do those counters cost? There's a register, counter, racks, conveyors, power/data circuits to each one, cameras above each one, etc - gotta be around $30,000 PER counter setup. So why would you want to put in 30 of the things if you're only going to use two of them at any one time (to be fair the maximum number of counters open that I've seen has been 4). And then let's talk about how Target wants to SCAN an ID to buy cold medicine. We're talking TWO packs of Nyquil which doesn't have the pseudoephedrine in it. Figured I'd get two bottles because 1) I had a cold and wanted to go out as little as possible, 2) I hate shopping at Target to begin with. When the cashier asked to see my ID - I figured it was because you had to be over 18, or because some moron was drinking this stuff as booze. Showed it to him, and he said he had to scan it - I told him "no way, I'm not participating in this crap." and walked out and went to Walgreen's where they didn't hassle me about anything. Tip to Target: 1) I have the money. You want it? I demand exquisite customer service. Always. You don't make any money in the store until I give it to you at the cash register, so get me through the registers as fast as possible. 2) Forget this scanning ID business. If your cashiers are too stupid to enter a birthdate correctly, then pay more for someone with a brain, train them better, or fix your software so it picks up obvious flaws. But I absolutely, positively, unequovicably, will NOT allow you to scan in my ID and keep that information in your hackable databases to be used or abused as you see fit. read more

This is a fine Target - it's more 3.5 stars than 4, but I'm in a generous mood. They seem to have a few more holes on things in-stock at this location than in most, but nothing serious. It's a smaller Target and the Food section seems like more of an afterthought, but selection has been improved since early on. Locations in Vernon Hills and Northbrook are larger Targets with a more significant grocery section. This location is certainly fine and while not perfect, it's nice to have in the area. read more

Well me and my girlfriend came to Target to buy a special edition Pikachu Nintendo 3DS, we were the first ones there and we waited outside the store till it open 8:00 am US central time. Then this blonde girl that technically works for Target mobile, but not actually target waited outside too. Anyways she wanted to purchase it and we (my girlfriend and I) were next. The one who was "helping" us was this tall black male and he said he couldn't help us because the items were reserve ahead of time (3-6 months ahead) he said. We didn't believe it because this item was just announce like 3 weeks ago, and every target we visited that day (about 5-10) said that was false and he was lying. We called the store Manager and we were connected by a man name Shaun, a very patient and understanding man, he confirm our assumptions and apologize for the inconvenience. Which I believe the guy who didn't sold it to us should apologize to us instead of Shaun. To top it off, we over heard the three target employees that wanted to buy this item and they were plotting when they should buy it. This I thought was disrespectful because Target is a business and these people shouldn't involve their personal gains with their profession. We came as "guest" and we weren't treated appropriately by the cashier in the electronics department today in the morning and also he shouldn't lie to us because nor his superiors, because he said that his manager told him to not sell it because they were reserve even though every target within a 50 mile radius said otherwise. Target managers should train their employees better when it comes to treating their "guest" better. I'm not saying that all employees are bad because there are a lot of good people there, but it was just particular guy, and the other people involve of plotting to buy this device. I like target, but I didn't like how the employees treated my girlfriend and I as "guest" since we were treated more as strangers that are not welcome in their neighborhood. This is why I will go to Walgreen's even if I have to pay more!!! For years I have been going to this Target, and have had a good experience. It is clean and the staff is friendly, until today. THE WORST EVER EXPERIENCE IN THE PHARMACY, FELT TRAPPED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE DEAD ZONE. Pharmacy opens at 11:00 on Sundays. At 11:00 there were 4 people in line, despite this the pharmacist would not open until her clock said 11:00. The store clock already showed 11:00. Upon opening, she scolds the four us telling us to form a single file line one behind the other. We were stunned that she would talk in such demeaning way to a senior citizen and 3 women in their 30's and 40's. She goes behind the counter, and the register clerk (Linda) steps forwad. The registers are locked, she can't open them, there is no money in the register. Finally after much fiddling, Linda takes care of the first customer who had a pick up and the second customer who dropped off a prescription. I step forward with 3 things on my list. I asked for an eye product that is kept behind the counter, needed to ask the pharmacist for allergy med. for my 10 yr old and refill a prescription. Once Linda gets me the eye product, I ask her to ask the pharmacist for an allergy med. She says I have to go to another station as the pharmacist is busy and she can't pull her away from her work! Well, I am thinking going to another station still means pulling the pharmacist away, what's the difference where I physically stand??? I let it go and say "OK, can you please enter the refill for my med?" She say I have to step aside and come back after she takes care of the next customer. I am confused. Isn't this where people bring their prescriptions? Isn't her job to take the med. orders and enter them? I have already waited in the line, why do I have to come back? When I ask this, she says well it's going to take half an hour to fill the prescription and you have to wait anyway, so just come back? What!!!! the order needs to be entered first before I have to wait half an hour. When I questioned her, she said she would do it to "make you happy". She stepped to the next computer to enter the order and with the biggest fake smile you can imagine (move over Steppford Wives!) said "what else can I do to make you happy?- I will do anything to make you happy." I was speechless. The woman in line behind me looked at me with total shock and disbelief. Here is an incompetent employee who is not prepared for customers upon opening, is unwilling to help people and tries to just push the customer out of her window, yet she has the nerves to turn this into "I'll do anything to make you happy"- implication: the problem is with you demanding customer not with my bad attitude, poor customer service and lack of competence!! Well, how about cutting out the sarcasm and bad attitude, just doing your job and leaving my happines to me?? The other customers in line told me this is "par for the course" in this pharmacy and there are always issues, and these two (the pharmacist on duty- Penny- and Linda) aren't even the mean one. Maybe it's time for the store manager to take a closer look at the behavior of his pharmacy staff! read more
