Average Target. If you've been to one Target, you've basically been to them all as far as general layout, stock, and prices. The only notable difference here was the corner entrance/exit - can't say I see too many like that. This location was stocked well and was a little neater than other Targets in comparison. If you were going for a regular Target shopping trip, chances are you'd find what you're looking for. Unsure if it's this way here all the time or just a freak occurrence for the time I was there. I had zero interaction with staff (which is fine by me) and I didn't get anything, so no experience with the lines. The parking lot is pretty large actually. You should have no issues finding a space. Overall an average and decent Target location. If I was in the area again and needed to go to a Target, I'd have no issues returning here. read more

Stopped in this Target location looking for a specific home scent. The store is very clean, and organized despite undergoing renovation or construction. When I got to the department, I could not find the item. Definitely did not want to go to a Walmart. Asked a store employee for assistance. From the different targets I have been to in and out of state, this is definitely the worst one I have been in. Unfortunately, they seem like a rather understaffed, poorly trained location, with my other time in the store observing a rather disorganized shelfing and more confusing organization system compared to other targets (e.g. how their alphabetical sectioning is not in a logical flow arrangement), making it hard for out of towners to come in and grab something quickly after looking it up on the app. Well, this time I needed a quick coin battery while I was down the road from this target. I put in a drive up order while I ran other errands, and low and behold, this is one of the batteries I was given in a 2-pack order. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. For those who choose to utlize the drive-up function because you are short on time and unable to browse the selection yourself, this is how they may take advantage of customers.... have a cloudy expired coin battery for a customer you know won't be back in the area often to have the chance to go in and complain. For a minor cost that is just around $4, I will not be going out of my way to make the trip back just to wait in line at the customer service line for $4, but would recommend taking your business elsewhere in Hackensack or even Paramus, where you won't be taken advantage as such. read more

The lines are always terrible but that is an accepted given. Today we went to get the kids shoes and jackets. Both sections were like warzones in total disarray. I gave up and abandoned the wife to sort thru the mess. I wandered over to the toy section and it was more of the same. All chaos and disorder. What is up with this location? They had plenty of workers but they were all wandering around like walking dead zombies not really doing anything. I'm so surprised this has low reviews?! It is very organized and clean, even during the holdiays they keep it pretty neat. Parking isn't great, the spots are too close together in my opinion, and some parts flood when it rains. Employees are very friendly and if you ask them where an item is, they will usually walk you to the aisle which is nice of them! PROS: One of the biggest targets in the area this store has everything. A Starbucks, inventory, it's clean, and loads of parking for a stand-alone store. CONS: Most of the workers make it seem like they never want to be there. Whether its the floor people, the customer service reps, or even the cashiers. I don't know what's going on with this Target lately. I hadn't been in a while ever since the newer location at Bergen Towne Center opened up, but this was always my favorite for years so I decided to pay it a visit. I came late on a Saturday night, and despite it being past 8pm, I was surprised to see how dead it was. I originally attributed this to the popularity of the Target in Paramus, but as I shopped around for groceries and looked through the Christmas and houseware sections I noticed a lot of empty shelving. Maybe it was an incredibly busy Saturday?... Or perhaps I caught them in the midst of switching out their seasonal merchandise? In any case, I was a bit disappointed to miss out on some items that I planned to purchase with my Cartwheel App discounts. Do not select this store for Order Pickup! I have been waiting for close to 40 minutes to pickup an order with 3 items. Went inside to see the Order Pickup line wraps around the store. Can't say I shop at Target often, but I made an online purchase for pickup at this store. Online pickup is being done at the back of the store by the fitting rooms! You stand in line and a store associate walks from the front pickup area to the back of the store where you are to get your pickup information. Then they walk back to the front of the store to get your purchase, then walk to the back again to give you your items! Can't imagine how many steps the workers walk per day! The Hackensack Target is one of the smaller stores that I've visited. Like other Targets, it has everything you need there, but it seemed a bit cramped. Plus, it was pretty crowded. Favorite Target location because they have basically everything! I really just wish they had better organization of their clearance stuff because lets be honest-- who doesn't love clearance items?! Having to dig around through cluttered stuff is kind of annoying but whatever. They need to dedicate more space to clearance beauty/health items too because that tiny little shelf space they have is overflowing. Also- they need to actually put stickers on some of their clearance stuff. I really hate having to scan everything in my target app to check if its on clearance. If its on the clearance shelf- please put a sticker. With that being said -- once you dig through stuff you seriously find some gems! This is usually the closest Target store to me and I love that their hours go much later than other nearby Targets. There is always parking here as the lot is huge. The employees aren't breathing down your back here either. However, this means the store isn't the neatest at all times. It also looks dimmer in here than other Targets for some odd reason. The lines can get pretty ridiculous nights and weekends. Though I shop usually at my lunch break so it's relatively quiet for me. Also, I usually sneak into the second row of registers, where it's less people usually. The layout is easy to understand and similar to other Targets so you can guess where every thing you need is. I shop here because I like certain products they sell here, they have convenient hours, and it's less hectic than the Paramus location. Their employees are mean. Anytime I have asked for help from a salesperson or cashier, I get a huge amount of attitude. I also got attitude for trying to return an item, never used, with tags still on. Try to be sure you're going to use the items you buy here. Also, come here early in the morning or during the week. Lines can get bad. They did recently get self-checkout machines, but they don't always work properly. I wish I could rate them higher, but their customer service and salespeople need attitude adjustments. read more

I love their greeting cards here- better variety than Hallmark!!! CDs are also cheap. I bought my little cousin a Luke Bryan cd for like $6 bucks. They have cute shoes & clothes too, and sometimes their shoes are buy one get one 50% off. I also shop here for my little cousins (toddlers and baby) clothes. They have the cutest kids clothes everrrr and the best clearance racks. Target honestly has everything. They have self-checkout lines at this location that I always use. My husband and I came here several months ago for our twins' 2-year birthday. We had done their 1-year portraits elsewhere, and wanted to try somewhere new & a bit more reasonable. We were happy to find that Target does not have draconian policies regarding access to high-def versions of digital prints, as some others do. The session itself was fine. The staff were professional, pleasant and patient with our children - even when they weren't cooperating. The photos were nice and we ordered a decent package, including a canvas. We were told photos would be ready by a certain date and to come back then. The problems started when my husband made the drive to pick up the photos. Now, mind you, we don't live right next door, and a round-trip is upwards of an hour. It's especially hard to find that hour when you have 2-year old twins. Regardless, he showed up at the appointed time only to find that while the photos were there, the canvas was not, despite promises to the contrary. We asked the attendant if we could have the canvas shipped, and was told she did not have the authority, but would leave a note for her manager. I tried contacting the portrait studio on a number of occasions over the next 2 months, but was not able to reach a live person - and voicemails were not returned. Today, we finally got through to a person - and Target refused to ship the canvas. My husband wasted another hour of time & gas due to their mistake. Target really didn't care. Despite the fact that we were forced to purchase Target Portrait Membership, we now have to evaluate whether it's worth coming back for our kids 3rd (and 4th, and 5th, etc.) portraits after such poor customer service. read more

I'm a Target fan and this store is run fairly well. Sure, clothing is not top-quality, but it's super cheap and does the trick for casual times. The other products happen to be mostly of good quality, but there are tons of name brands and good prices. Good parking, nice employees overall. This store also has a large grocery section, but I've never used it. Cons: The check out lines are hell at this store (skip ahead to the second row of registers if you can, but you may get screamed at by someone waiting in the first row of registers - separate lines that look as though they should be one), and fitting room helps is a bit nasty. I frequent this Target as it is right across the street from my office building. I stop in here just to get out, grab some lunch or run a quick errand during lunch. The lines are always very long and slow and the food selection is very inconsistent. My experiences at the pharmacy have been worse; the pharmacists are not friendly or even polite to me and I have been here to fill prescriptions as well as pick up a few odds and ends on several occasions over the past few years. Very unhappy. Called multiple targets to find a game, and was told Hackensack was the only one available. Item was not available for purchase online to pick up, so I was told I could put an item on hold. I called Hackensack Target ,and explained I live about an hour away, but really wanted the game since they only had 3 left, and could not purchase it online. They told me no problem, they had it, and would put It on hold. I gave them my name, and asked if I needed to do anything else they said no. Come today, I go to pickup my item on hold, and no one knows what I am talking about. A bunch of teenagers working, who were extremely unhelpful, and unwilling to help figure out the situation. They told me they do not know, they have not seen the game in a while, and should go look myself on the shelves. Extremely unprofessional, and horrible customer service. The grocery section of the Hackensack Target is poorly run and, unsurprisingly, always seems rather devoid of shoppers. Today, I decided to give it another chance since I live near it. I started out in the paper goods section. Nothing I wanted had a price, so I didn't buy anything in that section. Moving on, I found somewhat better pricing in other sections, but still had a problem finding prices for some products. The clerks in the grocery department seemed motivated to just rush stock onto shelves. I asked a polite question of one or two, but got mostly rushed, unhelpful and distant answers. The response as to whether there was a price scanner where I could check prices was so vague about it being somewhere else in the Target that I abandoned the idea. I came to assume this department simply has bad management which rides the backs of the employees to quickly shovel merchandise onto shelves to the detriment of all else (which helps explain the missing price stickers). Because it wasn't very busy at the time, I good-naturedly mentioned to the checkout clerk my issue with the lack of pricing. In an attempt to be helpful, he pulled out his smartphone and said one could scan products for prices with the Target app. He scanned one of my items. It didn't work. I said thank you anyway, while thinking to myself that I would never use it since apps on phones are (a) primarily a way for a company to scoop up your data and sell it to others, and (b) another way for hackers to get one's data (Target has had a serious problem with this in the past). Luckily, there are ample grocery stores in the area to shop at with better shelf pricing, better selection, and similar or better pricing -- and the staff is FAR more helpful. (The Shop Rite in Rochelle Park -- just up Passaic St. from Hackensack -- is awesome in terms of selection and pricing...) Where do I begin, went on a Saturday afternoon to fix a price issue on a receipt. One of the managers or team leaders Jeri advised me to go away being that they did not have the time to correct the issue. How do you even tell a guest that? I was sent there by Red Card Services along with Target.com to fix the issue as it was a store problem. The women taunted me as another associate was trying to correct the issue. She embarrassed me and when I asked for her name to report her she literally ran away making an excuse. Supposedly there is no store manager when I requested for one? Seriously? All said and some a complaint was made but please steer away from this Target. With employees like this working in customer service, you should second guess anything you buy from there. read more
