Upon its arrival, found the fit and finish to be simply awful. Took the most direct route and returned it in person. I was greeted (in an empty store) with such disdain it bordered on derision. Couple of younger and one older person (maybe the owner?) couldn't have been more insouciant, as if it were below them to process a return. As one of the younger employees tried to imply that the sizing was just fine (measuring tape in-hand), the other coldly informed me that a third-party handles the online business, and it would be up to 20 business days before my card would be credited. So, they'd have my $ for a month before I'd see it again. But that's not the only outrage. It took 19 days to receive any kind of confirmation (all I'd walked out with was a tiny register receipt with a hand-scrawled transaction #). And STILL no refund to my card. To quote the email: "Total amount refunded: $xx USD. It may take up to 10 days for this refund to appear in your account." Yeah, it'll get here. So will Christmas. Just figured I'd pass this along. Now I'll never waste another second thinking of this shady establishment.

But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. The Clearance sections had sale items up to 80%. I liked a $49 Scotch & Soda t-shirt tagged for only $7. The deal made my day. Checkout process was quick. I got to use my Bloomingdale's cash rewards for the purchase. Overall it was a nice store and seemed to be popular among the city locals.

There are too many other gorgeous brands and boutiques with beautiful clothes who actually CARE about their customers...and whether customers are happy. I had purchased a coat for my husband's birthday and spent upwards of $600, and when it didn't fit him in the shoulders properly, I brought back the coat (in pristine condition) just TWO days after the stated 14 day window on the receipt. Keep in mind, the receipt says nothing about the inability to exchange items; it doesn't advise on exchanges at all. I believe most retailers would've made an exception and accepted the return (I'd explained that I'd been ill and physically couldn't make it into the store). Come to find out at this point, when I tried to make an even exchange, the sales associate told me that I would have to do it on the spot - so I felt forced to select items for exchange when I wasn't in the mood to shop. All I'd wanted was a merchandise credit for the amount in which I spent. In short, I was told that this is the company's policy - straight from from their corporate offices in London...and that was that. When I was in disbelief that I couldn't even have a merchandise credit issued, the employees became condescending to me and told me that they were doing ME a favor by allowing an exchange. They were defensive in tone and shamed me for expecting any more. Additionally, the associate became defensive and m overly sensitive and took my disappointment personally; she told me that I was lucky they would accommodate me. I have zero desire to shop at Reiss again - based on this experience; this, as well as other reasons which I discovered today: Many of the dresses were ill-fitting, as if the seamstresses mistakenly allowed for asymmetrical fit where extra fabric was not supposed to be (I.e. too much fabric on this or that side where it was supposed to be symmetrical. Reiss seems to be saving money on their manufacturing now, as fabrics and laces/ribbons/details are cheaper quality than what they used to be (when I used to be able to justify the price by high quality), acrylic blends are being used on many sweaters and sweater dresses (which PILL and roll into balls on the sweater within one wear - just look at some of the sweaters on the hangers, many of which are already pilling just from people trying them on), and the seamstresses do not seem as skilled as what dressmakers at this price-point should be. Honestly, I'm sure I'll have more fun, respect, and a better fit and quality merely shopping at ZARA (and for a much lower price point). Just shocked at how the QUALITY has gone down so drastically. Instead, I'd go just next door to: JOIE, Intermix, Club Monaco, etc, etc.

One pair developed a linear relatively clean tear in the right back pocket with the surrounding fabric pristine. The fabric underneath was also pristine. I went in expecting to get a new replacement pair for what most likely was a defect in the fabric making it prone to a tear. Instead I got an offer to purchase a new pair at 30% off. To me that is very poor customer service and very shortsighted. They lost a very good customer. In the future I will buy as good if not better jeans at stores like Nordstrom where you pay for what you get.
