I came here at this Target location at Emeryville. One thing that stands out is the snacks area. They sell drinks, chips, popcorn, and other ready to-go items. That's something that you don't normally see in most locations. Also, this Target is huge! Literally the food section is bigger as if it's a mini grocery store. I didn't go to the center of this location but based on what I saw, it seems like the rest of the area is just clothes which is why I just walked around Target. Ample and easy to find parking here. A lot of spots for car pick up too. Inside was big just like any other target. There was a noticeable empty space near the clothing section for women. So that was a bit odd. There's security inside. Seems to be a lot of staff as well. They were on point with me when I asked for help. Things were locked away too which made sense but man did I wish I didn't have to press a button for assistance. Price is the same as other areas. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Previously whenever I shopped at a Targets I never really found what I was looking for ! I think because it's hard to find a specific item you see online in the store! Usually I research to see if the item I need is sold at Targets by researching online . Online you can organize and sort, as opposed to going into the store you have to go down every aisle or find a store personnel which is very difficult. I wonder if one of the objectives in this store, it making it very hard to find what you came in for so you buy other stuff just to make it worth the trip Black kids socks is what we needed it for the event we were going to. We never found them! This is a Super Target, so there's a grocery store on one side of the store. It did have lots of average offerings of Christmas decorations, but no one really there to help you find things. Shopping here can be frustrating.. read more

This Target locks everything up and then no one comes to unlock the merchandise. Don't bother pressing the buttons. Go find a supervisor so they can radio for an unlock. Then wait another 10 minutes. read more

Quality/Quantity - Sorry, not sure what happened to my pictures?!?! Anyways, one of the busier Target locations. Run well. I watched you open this location in 2011. This has improved and helped the area, thank you. Too bad I am sure you are also one of the higher theft locations, but I hope I am wrong. Atmosphere - Plenty of mall parking, but be careful of other drivers. It is a long, but not too wide, lot. Sorry, I also use the parking lot as a shortcut to get back on 880. Yes, I am crazy and brave, lol. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm. Service - Self service. Lots of security... Price - Above average, but there are little alternatives. The Closest Walmart is in Richmond or San Leandro. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1962 (1902 corporation founded), and for being the 8th largest retailer in the US. 2000 - Renamed company to Target Corporation. 2015 - CVS acquired Target's pharmacies. read more

Update, never did see the man baby again, I imagine he embarrassed himself out of that job if not immediately following my run in with him then shortly thereafter I'm certain. So having removed that unfortunate aspect from the experience, the one minor bummer for me has been the unfortunate removal of the self checkout, making lines a bit much sometimes especially towards closing. Whenever I have a vague idea in my head that I need to stop somewhere while I'm out there are so many times I find myself auto-piloting here without even being conscious of it far more than I ever actually plan to make a trip here lol read more

This store can be a bit overwhelming. I had to stay focused and put my blinders on or else I'd find my self wandering up and down the aisles aimlessly for days looking for a deal. This place has everything. It's clean and well organized. Even the T-shirts are folded and stacked neatly. Now that's impressive! I came to this store because I've switched my cell phone service from A T and T to Consumer Cellular. I needed some tech support and Consumer Cellular partners with Target stores. ( A quick note - with autopay and an AARP membership one can find similar coverage on Consumer Cellular for at least 30% less compared to AT and T. Matt says its worth a look.) Back to my experience at this Target store. I met Lawrence in the Tech area where the big screen TVs and speaker systems are located. Lawrence took time to understand my problem and work with his counterpart on the phone to solve my issue. While he was working with me, he made sure that all of the other customers who came by were taken care of. In other words he is a master multitasker. I've worked in retail and I know it can be hard. Lawrence is an asset to this store and I am confident that he will be a success in whatever endeavor he pursues next. Thank you Lawrence. read more

Employees in the morning are not much of a help when it comes down to asking for help if they have anything in the back, especially the collectible stuff. They'll scan the barcode that they're asked to scan, their device will say "in backroom- yes" but they won't check because "they say they know" the system is wrong or Go to the back and come back in a minute, like they tried to look for it. I learned from another Target employee in another place that floor employees can go into the system and put " 0 " for items that may actually be in stock but they're lazy to look for them, or may be keeping them for themselves to buy at a later time in their lunch break. If a manager doesn't care to enforce the rules, they're on it too, to keep the Newest Pokémon or Hot Wheels in the back until they can bring it out the best time for their benefit. Does the ISP Security and their Neon shirt AP give the look of suspicion of theft to everyone who has a purse or backpack or who they please to stare down when people walk to the exit. They have cameras what seems pointed to every aisle in every Target but seems like they don't serve a purpose with how many things can be found around the Target stores that are stolen and that's left is the packaging. Doesn't Target have the 10-4 rule for their employees? If a customer is within 10 feet away from them to at least give half a smile, not give the stare of "you have a purse or backpack, I think you're here to steal" It's the Bay Area, customers know not to leave backpacks or purse in their car, especially being in Oakland. read more

Ordered 3 packs of laser paper for pick up One of them was missing the entire wrapping from one side of the package. Paper not usable. Waste of $9 Not the first time I got damaged goods from the pick up window. I no longer order TP or towels because every order came crushed. Don't understand why the staff pusheds damaged goods on people. They know it be won't inspected it until we're home and its too late to return the item 10 miles away. read more

Why this doesn't have better reviews is beyond me. It's a target and for a target it's great. The Pharmacy has been providing me great service for years. The Starbucks is better then the brick and mortar one down the street. It's grocery section is far and away better then the next closest (though if you drive further things like Berk Bowl etc). The checkout staff is friendly. In a target, they smile... I don't understand why else people expect from a target. Great spot at affordable prices. read more

Like 80% of what I would purchase here is behind locked shelves that the employees CANNOT be bothered to open when you call them. Even asking employees point blank and they have to call someone who never responds. I literally just filled my Amazon shopping cart with the items I was waiting for someone to open for me, which after several minutes of waiting I abandoned. If theft mitigation is the goal but then ultimately those products can't even be purchased because we can't even get to them, then the business strategy is an inherent failure. It's ridiculous and makes shopping here an utter waste of time. read more

This Target is fine, but this last trip I came for one thing that I ordered online and was able to pick it up. That was easy. The wait was hard. It was quite long and it would have been better if more people were working that station. I wanted to return something but had to get in a separate longer line. That was hard. Then the woman who gave me my package for pickup walked to a cash register in the return area and started accepting returns. That was just weird for me because she moved about 15 feet from where she was previously. I didn't see the point. This store is also big, huge really all on one floor and I have to say that each time I've been in a line yet checkout is pretty rapid. I was salty to a customer service person helping with my return and they kept their cool. I don't think I should have had to wait behind someone who was standing ambiguously in the general area 20 feet from the counter, who wasn't trying to approach the counter, didn't care that I moved in front of her, and verbally stated she wasn't ready when asked -- just because she got there first. It was generous of them to want to wait for her, but impractical and dismissive of me because I was clearly ready, and she was not. So I was salty. I came to do some quick Christmas shopping for several children. As I was walking through the Lego aisle, a very kind and charismatic employee named Markel walked over to help me without me asking. Markel was extremely friendly, fun, and helpful! He made the service personal and made recommendations while making great conversation and telling funny jokes. My friend ended up buying three Lego sets without planning to. This was a great Target experience and Markel made our day! read more

I haven't been here in ages but I had to pre-order some small wine orders and conditioner for my daughter and I wondered about masks. The majority of people inside wore masks and I only saw one person who wasn't wearing one so I kept mine on since it seemed crowded inside and out in the parking lot. You have to be very careful when parking and backing out as people and cars are everywhere, even on a Thursday! I was impressed by how clean and modern it was inside and looked at the snack bar to see what changed and that now, it is self serve, no popcorn popping out a machine but already boxed and still $1 for a box but it doesn't seem the same without freshly popped popcorn smells filling the air. I bought a few greeting cards and used the self-serve kiosks as the lines were too long. Then I had to wait 5-15 minutes in the return/pick up order kiosk to get my pre-ordered items. There seemed to be quite a few people working behind that kiosk but service was slow. Maybe it was because Father's Day was approaching and store was busy. read more

I give my ratings based off of my experience, and I see some of our favorite stores have some of the lowest ratings. Idk idk BUT I got some good finds this time. I came here around 4pm on a Covid weekday to compare the price of dumbelles. It was crazy busy! I'm ready for you to ALL go back to your offices while i continue working from home. Decathlon had a better deal and the line was insane so at the time I opted to not look around any more - we all knows what happens when you look in places that aren't on your list in Target. BUUUT WAIT, it gets better. On my way out I saw their bargain section. I don't know what else to call it - perhaps their $1 - $5 section? Anyway, there were candles, makeup bags, tech accessories, cute Valentine's Day decorations, etc. I was browsing for a bit when suddenly my donut loving soul's eyes handed on the donut shaped airpod case. Couldn't resist. $3!!!! I hopped in what had become a significantly shorter self checkout line. Truthfully, I would have waited in line anyway. read more

I am very dissatisfied with this target. I placed an order they were missing items are out of stock. I couldn't get the refund credited to my gift card three different people told me three different things which was very very frustrating because I went shopping thinking I can re-order them with the funds added to a gift card and that was not true. The fact that no one on the staff at this location understands what can happen and what cannot be processed is frustrating Including managers as well target in general will have a better business if they offer their customers a option to choose if things are out of stock before just canceling and refunding back they do not know how people are financially, so giving a customer, the option of a gift card to re-order instead of automatically refunding what was missing out of the order back would help out a lot they are refunding and it takes 5 to 7 business days for the funds to reflect back into your account when they can easily apply it on your gift card on your app or your physical gift card on hand and you can re-order it right then and there I'm very dissatisfied and I have been a customer at this location for a very long time. I spoke to 3 to 4 people. I spoke to a manager named Otero. I spoke to supervisor name, Ramon. I spoke to an employee name, Omar and I also spoke to the manager believe her name was Meuy I'm very dissatisfied with a customer service here and the fact that they don't even offer you anything for your inconvenience. You do not buy makeup at target.I was in the nail polish aisle a few minutes ago, and some girl was putting on multiple different shades of nail polish that were not testers. Before you ask if I did anything, I just let the closest staff person know, and she looked at me blankly. I pointed out that it was unsanitary, because i knew the policy was to go over there and remove the contaminated items, but she went back to sorting things in the toothpaste/ mouthwash aisle. Sharing polish can be a safety and compliance issue.Do you want somebody else's fungus in your nail polish? Someone elses skin debris on your poweder and bacteria in your mascara? Maybeline with a side of pink eye? If not skip target, because their staff do not seem to care. Or at the very least, don't grab the nail polish that up front, grab from the back. If they dont care to take two minutes to walk over and protect my safety, why should i spend my dolllars there? Makeup from target is now off the list. read more

This is one of the worst Target I've been!! It's very poorly managed in my opinion. During the coronavirus global pandemic, this Target store still clearly doesn't care about social distancing. They don't limit how many people can go in and shop at a given time so it's overly crowded and chaotic which makes me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. Actually I don't witness any precautions they've taken to protect their employees and customers. The sale associates stand and chat with one another shoulder to shoulder like they know nothing about the infectious virus spreading like the wild fire in our community. Even before the pandemic, this store is always overcrowded and it's almost impossible to find associates for help. Their inventory sucks big time compared to other Target stores in the area. Every time I need something, guess what, it is sold out. I'd suggest going to the Albany Target which is so much better. Also the Alameda and downtown Oakland Target stores are good, too. Unfortunately this is the closest Target location and I'm a Red Card holder so I keep coming back. The only reason I give them two stars is because the in store pickup. I basically give up shopping at the store and only order things online then go pick them up. All in all, this target needs better leadership. This place is a ghost town for good reason - given the fact that they dropped policies and let the public that they fought so hard to convince they were a decent company down. Big time. The workers look nervous. Not a pleasant shopping experience. I feel negative energy all around even walking through the store to pick up my prescription from the CVS. So much so, that I am considering changing my pharmacy to another company. I will go elsewhere for everything, now, even though this store is convenient to me. The last thing I want to do while shopping is to be engulfed in the gloom and disparity of the staff - most of which seem to have lost their respect for their employer, as well. I normally wouldn't review large retailers like Target without any significant events, but I think this one was in part by how impressed I was with the revamping of the interior. Not sure if I just haven't been here in a while, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the whole store layout has been re-worked to create more spacious walkways so more folks can keep their distances. This target has really gone downhill in the last few years. The changing rooms are so dirty, dustballs all over the floor and always a 10+ minute wait to get a room because they only have one section open. There were shoes and clothes all over the floor last time I was there and it's clear they're really understaffed. A lot is locked up which is fine except there aren't enough people to come unlock the cabinets for you so you end up waiting and trying to flag someone down for a while. If they were properly staffed they might have a few people whose jobs it is to help unlock merchandise. Self checkout is closed now, likely because of theft, but there aren't enough people manning the regular check outs so the lines are long. If you're going in there to just grab a couple things it's not even worth it because of the wait. I'm assuming they're planning on shutting down this target because of how run down it's become. Usually, target is really on top of creating a great customer experience and making sure their stores are clean and organized. I've honestly never seen a target as dirty as this one has been the last few times I've been there and it didn't use to be like this. read more

There is a Starbucks inside, but no mobile orders at the front of store. Restrooms are located at front, right side of store past Starbucks. There is a single family room too. The was my go-to Target when I moved to Berkeley in 2015. Transportation wise it wasn't too far from the place I was living and it was huge with a large selection of products. I especially liked their protein bars and powders selection. Even after I moved less than a mile from the Target in Albany in 2016 I still came to this Target because it was the only one in my area carrying what I was looking for. Offerings were more stable in terms of merchandise than at the other Targets in the East Bay Area I shopped at, other stores varied or experimented with their offerings fairly frequently. Nice to have consistency in product offerings at the time. The store was cleanly and the workers were helpful in their interactions. The layout for the store is one level (not two levels like the Albany Target) with different areas of the store clearly labeled. Carts were plentiful, baskets could sometimes run low, and the lines even for self check-out could be very long depending on the day/time one visited. Because this store became a staple of mine for the little over four years I lived in the Bay Area I came to adjust my schedule as best I could to avoid coming here at peak times. Not only were lines long but parking could be crazy. That is part of the reason I stopped shopping here except for the few essential items I could only find here, finding parking could be a big hassle even with its huge parking lot. read more

The Emeryville Store, is the worst Target store, I have shopped at. They have armored security guards with guns at the front doors. They're targets are minority customers, following us around the store to intimidate us. Target needs to know that all minorities (blacks) are not at the store to steal, but to shop, like others. This store deserves a "F" for failure in customer satisfaction. Fight crime another way, the security guards are not welcoming at all. They're only intimidating and makes the store more GHETTO than is already is. read more

In the past few weeks, this Target has apparently eliminated numerous *healthy* and organic products from its inventory. Considering this location is (was?) a community grocery hub for nearby lower-income communities, the message seems clear, if unsurprising: profits trump everything.
