They have all the stationary, kitchen items, containers, snacks and home good items one can ask for. I came here for something quite random, a desk calculator, but they had nothing in stock. Not sure if it's because of the global supply chain crisis, or if this is affecting all Daiso branches, but I was very disappointed with the dinky selections of false eyelashes. Daiso used to be my go-to for purchasing lashes, but when I visited here, there were barely any eyelash selections. I also browsed around, and it felt like there were not as many selections as other Daisos. I expected better. Not sure if it's because of supply shortage or something else. read more

Convenient. Staff accommodating. Little bit low on inventory. But always can find everything from notebooks to a variety of different kinds of chopsticks to macha all in one place. Greeted at the door with a warm welcoming. He also pointed to shopping baskets. He told me any questions I'm here for you. ! I found everything I needed. Very quickly. It was only 2 people I'm line getting ranged up. However one family was piled on each other six people. The door greeter immediately came over from the door. He began dining up the next customer. This Wowed me so much. He honestly didn't have to do that. It was a long wait. He just provided Excellent customer service! Maybe bc if Covid-19 he wanted to get the pile of people out faster. Just a thought. The other register was social distance. He rang up items ver quickly. The six people piled up kept asking cashier questions. It was only five items they had. I had about 30. The Japanese dollar store juggernaut. Quality cheap items that puts your neighborhood dollar store to shame. Its not quite $1. But then for the price and quality of all the items here does offset the extra cost of the items. Usually I come here for little trinkets, dining room items and some kitchen ware. This time, I came for the tiny ear cleaning spoons which took me a bit of searching around in the shop, but I did find it. That and I found some really giant sized hand cream. I did want to buy more stuff, but I had to keep my discipline on. Other than that, everything is so cheap, you can literally buy anything and everything your impulsive self can get your hands on. The store is really nice and big. I feel as if it's a little too big for the inventory that it had. Seems like they stretched it as far as it went so they can utilize the whole store. An adequate size Daiso store. Much larger than the Berkeley store. I like how all the Daiso stores are setup the same. A good selection of items that you think you need and those you never thought you needed. They also have a good selection of Japanese snacks. I was surprised to find the Nissn raoh ramen noodles there. This ramen is better quality instant ramen compared to the other ones. This Daiso is located in a shopping center with Ross and Banana Republic factory. It can get pretty busy but we were able to find parking quickly even on a weekend. The location is pretty big, bright, and clean. At the time of my visit it was really well stocked. The aisle seem wider than other locations and was not too packed so you can still enjoy shopping. Only one cashier at check out but the line only had 1-2 people at a time. As always no return on items. Definitely a great place to stop by to browse for some cute hello kitty, household items, and snacks. Prices are reasonable but you will be surprised how much you end up spending picking up Knick nacks. read more

Cuteness overload! I could spend hours here just looking at stationaries, household goods, kitchenware, beauty supplies, school supplies, and the list goes on! Daiso Japan beats the Dollar Tree in so many ways and I'll explain that further down in my review. Price range from $1.50 to $3.00, though I might have seen something at $4.00. This Daiso Japan is huge compared to the Berkeley one. The inside is spacious and the aisle are clean. If you are wondering where it is located it now occupies the space where Pier 1 imports used to be in Powell Plaza. Thus, there is ample parking. The friendliness and helpfulness of the store associates is impeccable. I was asked twice by two different sales associates if I was finding everything alright. Indeed I was. However, I was disappointed in their electronic section that they didn't have the wall outlet for a usb cord. They only had ones that you can plug into a car lighter and only sold usb cords without the outlet. Having said that, the sales associate said they will probably get those in another shipment. When? I don't know. I will be on the lookout for that. So, I continued my exploration of the store, stopping here and there for items I would need, items that I needed in the future, or just to marvel at the numerous selection of chopsticks, cute and colorful bowls, platters, cups... I was surprised they had yoga mats here. I'm big on yoga and I don't know the quality of these mats but hey, if I'm on the way to yoga class at the gym and don't feel like using their mats (God knows what infests those!) and forgot mine, I know where to get a mat! In fact I should just get a spare for on the go and leave it in my car. Next time I come here, I'll get one. I was also surprised and disappointed that they didn't have cat supplies but only carried dog supplies. I hope that will change in the future. Future shipment, perhaps? I ended up buying a cute kitty cat phone holder, cute kitty cat salt and pepper set, a resistance band, and shrimp chips. At the register there is a minimum of $10.00 for credit card, no minimum for debit, they don't accept checks or $100 bills and all purchases are final. The only reason this is a 4 stars review and not 5 stars is that the bathroom (women's) was absolutely disgusting! I don't know if it's because it's a public restroom and anyone can use it or what! Part of me wonders if they may be closing this store because the last three visits it has been poorly stocked. I am also disappointed in one cashier who may need some coaching on how to show up in a positive way to work. I know retail is tough, but if you see a mom with three kids and you ask her if she needs a bag and she says yes, and you accidentally hear no and don't charge her for one, then don't make her do an entire separate CC transaction for a 20 cent bag. It hold up the line and it's hideous nickel and diming. Also, maybe don't be shame her when she is fumbling through her pockets and repeat "It's 20 cents if you want the bag." Watching this transaction made me never want to walk into a Daiso again. read more

This store is similar to the dollar store but appears cleaner and more products from Japan - I LOVE IT!!! Like you literally can find anything from household goods, to makeup to snacks ... & next part is they're all under or around $1.50!!! Well, I didn't see anything priced higher than $5. It's too super cute. I zoned in on the makeup area and found some face masks I liked, I even tried it at home and they're not bad. It's made or distributed from Korea, and most of the facemasks I see these days are. The snacks like Pocky are great too! This was my first Daiso ever, so I had no expectations. I really liked their dining section (dinnerware, serveware, etc.). I'd been looking for small bowls and serveware, and whenever I went to look in other Asian markets, I never knew if the pieces were dishwasher-safe or microwave-safe, etc. but the products here were well-labeled for that sort of info. Pieces look and feel like good value for money. I bought a few, small clear glass bowls and a soy sauce jar. Good mix of simple designs as well as more Asian-themed ones. I also picked up a few bags of some favorite snacks! The store itself feels big and roomy (the space was previously a Pier One Imports), is very brightly-lit, and aisles were well-marked. This has got to be the most organized Daiso I've been to thus far since their Berkeley location. The place is large and each aisle is separated into similar groups and each aisle is labeled by function (kind of like a grocery store) so, everything is easy to find. Unlike a lot of smaller Daiso, there's plenty of space between the aisles for easy traffic flow. We ended up finding a lot more things we need from this Emeryville location compared to other Daiso. We love the price and quality of Daiso products and the majority of our cookware and serveware are from Diaso and have lasted! read more

Another Daiso is always welcome, hehe. For those if us who love cute/tasty/simple-but-functional things at the affordable price of $1.50, Daiso is really a go to spot in the Emeryville neighborhood. Their selection of seasonal items is always worth checking out and college folks or those who have just moved and are looking to fill out their houseware/kitchen items, this location has competitively priced (compared to say... IKEA) things like crocks, knives, containers, bowls etc... for slightly higher prices, usually between $3-$6 bucks. Just a few notes: - They usually get their shipments in on Wednesday. So your best bets for the most well-stocked shopping experience is Thursday, once the workers have had a chance to put everything out. -Sometimes these shipments are cancelled entirely, so they get a double shipment the following week. You can always call ahead and ask a sales associate to double check the stock if you have a very specific item in mind. Don't me like me and come in three separate times for the mini-clothespin craft items, to find out their shipment has been delayed, lol - Associates lock the doors around 15 min before the listed closing time in order to prevent new folks to spend an eternity browsing the aisles (because lets face it, yours truly can totally spend a good hour ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all the cheap cutsies that could be mine). I went to this store for the first time and fell in love with the ceramic mugs, until I got home and my daughter enlightened me to be careful of the cancer causing chemicals that are instilled in the materials used to make them. I was so disappointed and especially after knowing there's absolutely no refunds or exchanges. I will not be going back to this place ever again, now that I'm aware. Yesterday, I went in to pick up some bowls for the dogs. Flashed my phone to use APPLE PAY but the cashier #0155 (TROY) said it wouldn't work. I started getting my credit card out but since my hand was still on my phone APPLE PAY processed. Clerk TROY yelled, "I told you not to use that." I said, it looked like it worked just fine. TROY continued with, "Next time I say something, do what I tell you." Needless to say, I was beyond shocked that this pimpled 18 year old should try to address me as if I were some confused meth-head that dropped in to buy some "cookin' spoons" and vomited in the office supply aisle. I asked TROY if he thought I was his employee (or a child) or if he thought customers liked to be yelled at? Did I have any other option but to soccer-mom up? I requested the supervisor. TROY glared at me the full 5 minutes it took for DANIEL to arrive. TROY then bleated to DANIEL that I had been told not to do it but I did it anyways. Apparently TROY is pretty oblivious to normal social interaction or customer care. I asked DANIEL if he thought that customers ought to be addressed as wayward children by scoffing unidentified clerks even at a dollar store such as it was. He thought not. I asked DANIEL why his employees were lying about APPLE PAY. He mumbled something about headquarters, not getting money, something something completely unintelligible. I told him he should disable the machines if Daiso couldn't figure out how to get the processed cc's to transfer funds. So go ahead and enjoy the full experience of being treated like sub-human trash at this Emeryville Daiso location. The Emeryville branch of Daiso is a little small compared to the other ones I've been to. But, they have some really neat household items here for cheap. I bought a few dishware pieces here for just a few bucks. They have Japanese candies here as well. For the young ladies, there are all sorts of cutesy stationary and "girly" things for you. What I love about this store is that you can fine little things that you think you don't need but you do especially for $1.50 . Has everything from kitchenware, hygiene products, food, some clothing like undergarments, and cleaning products. Parking is ok, due to the fact there are other stores in the same lot just depends on what time you come The store is clean at this location and at the one in Berkeley on telegraph. Came in here to get a-tips (I think 200 in a container, not sure but enough to last me a while) for 1.50. My shower caps which fits my head if I have single braids in my hair which is a plus for me $1.50, bath slippers for when I hope out the tub $1.50, I found 4 pairs of socks for $1.50 each, and a cute little lucky cat for my car which is $1.50. With that said if you want little trinkets here and there that is convenient and inexpensive, Daiso is the place to go. read more

If you're a person of color do not come here I had someone follow me up and down every isle pretending to fix things. Then when I got to the counter I realized I lost my card so I had to put a few things back. The cashier seemed annoyed and says to me "all sales are final" I tell her I didn't buy anything yet, so I'm confused as to why she's telling me this. When I complete my purchase she stamps my receipt with a "all sales are final" stamp. I've never had anyone do that at any other daiso location. 5/30/2023 The rudest closing staff... I'm hoping one of the four staff closing was not a manager or supervisor as they all lacked so much professionalism. I was the only customer left in the store and all I kept hearing is them cackling about closing. They kept telling each other that they were closing soon as if the other didn't know when they closed. One of the staff members even got on the loud speaker twice to announce that they were closing and then preceded to the floor to yell/ confirm to the others on whether or not she was loud enough. It was so rude. I was really shocked that they all thought it was okay to treat someone like this. I still had ten minutes left and the way they were acting was unreasonable and most certainly unprofessional. The lady ringing me up kept slamming my stuff and didn't say anything after giving me my receipt. IF YOU CARE ABOUT SHOPPING AT AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS GOOD; DON'T SHOP HERE. I will never step foot in this store again and I'll be escalating my complaint in the morning. read more

Color me unimpressed, and this is from someone who LOVES Daiso Japan (aka the 100 Yen Store). This particular location just opened (at the time of review) on August 21/22, but I don't really accept that as an excuse to not be on par with the nearby East Bay locations. Daiso is basically the Japanese version of the dollar store (although most things are around 1.50-1.75), where you can find everything from beauty to kitchen items and everything in-between. The physical location in Emeryville is superior to the Berkeley store simply because there is a parking lot, and it's much larger. The content however is really minimal (for Daiso Standards). I mean THERE WERE NO HAND HELD FANS AND MINIMAL CHOPSTICK SELECTION where am I? It's similar to the Urban Outfitters in Emeryville, it looks like the original store with much to be desired as far as stock. Again if you want even more variety check out the Alameda or Berkeley locations for folks on the East Bay. This isn't a totally "slam" of the company (just this location) and I'm sure it will get better over time (it will be a long while before I go back). I will say this, this is a great location for people who are 100% unfamiliar with the Daiso Japan brand (I saw many people in awe), for those of us who are veterans you'll be highly disappointed. It should also be noted that you can only use a credit card if you spend $10 or more (Debit Cards can be used for any purchase), and you cannot use $100 bills there. read more

This Daiso Japan is located within walking distance from the hotel where I was staying during a weekend trip. I first learned out about these stores via a blog about beauty deals and discounts, and I've been curious about them ever since. They actually don't carry a lot of cosmetics here, but they do have lots of beauty implements... Sponges, exfoliating clothes, manicure & pedicure tools. You get the idea. I was a bit surprised to see that this store has SOOOO much more than those types of things! I ended up spending hours here. And that is not an exaggeration. I wish I had allowed for more time. There are thousands of items to look at. It's overwhelming, really. I was fascinated. Everything in the store is priced between 1 and 10 dollars. Some things are a good deal, and some things are not.
