I shop at this store out if shear necessity, not because I love it! If you find something in a different department, like I found an affordable vacuum cleaner, I noticed thst the electronic department was completely "dead" not one single customer! I pushed my red shopping cart to the counter, and before I vould lift it out of shopping cart, a "Gen Z" looking African American cashier said: "You have to go downstairs, I can't ring you up for thst here!" I was looking at him like he was crazy! He doubled down and explained : "I'm not allowed to ring up anything but electronics!" Instead of scanning my item, he actually crossed his arms , with a smudge look on his face and just ignored me! I demanded he contact a manager!!! He wasted almost 30 minutes, making me wait for a store manger to come to his register, He commanded him like an obedient lap dog to process my transaction! I was so confused why it took this brain dead XBox , Netflix boy to ring me up! The entire transaction took less than 1 minutes! What target fells to realize, is that they aren't tge only game in town! And honest, uncensored websites like "Yelp" are powerful tools against lazy, ignorant overpaid retail employees!! These children do not know how to use common sense to solve problems that should NEVER exist in the first place!!! What kind of company policy encourages their employees to turn away paying customers?! Target, along with other big-box retailers, ar3 highly exposed to changes in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), with, for instance, roughly $1.8 billion in SNAP benefits spent at Target out of a $100B national total, representing roughly 1.69% of its revenue! I do not receive Federal SNAP benefits, but if this type of lazy , irresponsible poor customer service continues, Target will only be seen in a "Retail Museum!" read more

It's been a while since I last went to this Target in South Bay, Dorchester! They've got lots of parking here available... I would be careful of where you park your car because I have witnessed people just throwing their carts into others' cars lol. Usually if I am shopping at South Bay, I like to park at the garage over by the AMC, BUT Target is a pretty far walk from there so for convenience, I will park outdoor lot and try to be in & out. ***Garage is also free to park*** Now, for the actual store itself, it is clean and well organized for the most part. One thing that I have noticed is they no longer have a self checkout area by one of the entrances. Instead, it was only one cashier working the register and a long line. They do seem to have more options & inventory of items that I typically enjoy buying, such as swimsuits, coolers, etc. This is a full service Target so it does have everything or most things that you'd find at other Target locations. This location can get a little nutty some times but it's hectic and right in the bustling South Bay plaza. Parking options are enormous ( cars do meets in there late night til cops kick them out) They usually are stocked well, larger store, some items are locked up due to theft in that area, i don't blame them. Can't have nice things anymore like yesteryear. They have the main cashiers in the front entrance area and occasionally open the side entrance ones. I usually pop in for snacks or the last minute toiletry needed. read more

Well it looks like the new Target initiative of friendly and engaging is a dismal failure in the South Bay Boston location. Not one smile in the entire store, I was watching. This place is miserable. More of a 1.5 stars but I am feeling generous because they had the item I wanted, and it was sold out in Watertown and Fenway. Went in around 8:30 on a Sunday morning, I am pretty sure the last time I was at any of the South Bay stores Target wasn't even here. An eclectic bunch of people outside when I parked right by the door, 5 guys looking a bit shady all huddled together and showing something from someone's pocket (probably nothing from that morning's early church service) and one couple eyeing me suspiciously while furiously smoking cigarettes and screaming at each other. Honestly, I felt badly for anyone who lives nearby and this is their only option. What was really frustrating INSIDE was that I couldn't find a single cart! I saw many being used by employees to stock groceries and do shopping for online shoppers, but after I loaded up two heavy baskets I gave up looking for more things I needed and just did the self-checkout and left. The store really does seem recently remodeled and was decently stocked (except for the cosmetics/beauty area), but I won't return to this one read more

The Customer service is great. Security guard greeted us and welcomed us. sister and I came for the Starbucks we also saw that they have Pizza Hut pizzas for 7.25 personal pizza pepperoni or cheese. Horrible service, I under stand no self checkout because of theft but having only two cashiers working at a time is not good

This place is absolutely horrendous! From the workers, to the availability of the products, to the fiends in the parking lot leaning on your car when you come out. Their website will show there's items in stock and 90% of the time they are not there. Why? Because the thieving ass fiends steal everything off of the shelves. To the point where security is following everyone around because they think everyone is stealing NOT TO MENTION THINGS BEING LOCKED UP like Fort Knox The workers act like you're bothering them by asking if something is possibly in the back because the shelves are BARE! It's like they don't even put things out because they fear it being stolen I heard a manager (thick white woman with short bob haircut with highlights say) "we can't put out too much expensive stuff" & it's just like I get it but what about the paying customers ? As tends to happen about once a month, I forget to put something in my suitcase. When you're working in downtown Boston and don't have a rental car, it's helpful to have access to a Target by T with a short walk. And so here we are, a quarter mile or so on open and well-sidewalked roads from the Andrew MBTA station. This Target has all the usual departments including men's wear and personal care so I was able to pick up some undershirts and a pack of razor refills. Decent choice in the clothing department and the store was in good condition. Stuff is racked and stacked nicely. It's a large store and the staff seem pretty competent. The parking lot is large and there do not seem to be any stray carts. South Bay is a large shopping center with outlets for many of the big box stores. This store also has a free wifi that works well. read more

Very disappointed in this target some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Also many items seem to mispriced or misshelved either way took me a minute to realize how much a couple of the items were after I checked out while waiting on my online order. So I also had to do a return. Atleast three employees standing at customer service and apparently only one was working. Employee and "officer" standing at the door were also very rude. Pretty sure I'll drive the extra 20 Minutes to not come back to this store. Update realized after I got home they forgot to grab one of my items as well. So now I have to go back. read more

This review is strictly for the drive up option. The experience was absolutely seamless.. just be mindful that if you don't want bags you do need to tell them once they arrive at your car. I wish there were an option for that in the app. General notes about this location: there tends to have a lengthy line, sometimes it moves quickly, others times it simply doesn't. The restroom is religiously filthy. Customer service is hit or miss -- they're either really informed and helpful or they seem very unsure of their responses (sometimes it appears to be due to a lack of experience, other times it appears to be due to a lack of interest). I learned something new today. There's a Target at South Bay, at the far end from Mass Ave. Actually, I learned two new things today. They can pause your order at Target if necessary and work on another customer while you wade through your purse or what not, and keep you from feeling like the stupid idiot who is holding up the line. There's a word for it, but I can't remember it right now. Personally, I appreciated it, though my cashier said most folks are annoyed when she has to do this to keep the line moving per her manager's order. This Target could be so much better. In general, I'm a big fan of Target. I prefer Target over Walmart even though they tend to be a little more expensive because the shopping experience is generally better. Not so with this location. The parking lot is always littered with trash. When you enter the store, the trash cans outside are often overflowing. I understand that many people empty their cars of trash and this fills up the bins quickly, but this is something that the store just needs to keep up with. Once in the store, you can find the price for an item about 50% of the time. Many grocery and other items are not marked with the price, so you have to try to find the price on the shelf, but often it's just not there. There are stations in a few places where you can scan the barcode to see the price of an item, but who wants to take the time to do that, especially when comparing several items? It's very frustrating. Further, certain areas of the store are always empty on weekends - they just cannot seem to keep up with stocking the shelves (e.g., orange juice section). Yet they have an entire aisle dedicated to one variety and package size of Bounty paper towels. An entire aisle (see photo)! I guess they're well prepared for a spill in that aisle... I give this Target 2 stars because it is generally clean, especially for how busy it is, and parking is pretty easy. Also, the app is handy for finding discounts - I saved over $5 (granted a small amount on a $170 purchase). Every little bit helps. Please Target, empty the trash, stock the shelves, and put prices near the products so it is easier to find them! read more

They recently added locks to every personal item!! You cannot access deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes or Advil without an employee. They are still short staffed and do not show up for more than 5-10 minutes. If you are planning back to school shopping soon, just go to Watertown or Boston to get your personal items! read more

People rag on this Target but I think it's pretty good considering its location in a dense, busy city. It could improve in a few areas identified by others (organization, cleanliness, overall friendliness of hourly employees) but I think some of these are difficult to fully address in a store like this. I once had an issue with a coupon and the Service Leader, Quadarrell, was super helpful. I'd like to point out that their drive-up ordering is AMAZING. I've done curbside pickup from a # of stores and Target has by far the most flawless system. read more

A lot of selection of everything, I went to buy a electric fondue pot and I got one which works really great, thanks to Lyndsay B for the advise. Target has a good designed layout and allow ppl to browse things easily. One complaint here, the cashier didn't say anything to me, well I didn't that eager to talk. But he didn't even look at me! To be honest, I hate to shop at this location. Every day during noon time is a chaos, both outside and inside the store. Pedestrians cross the street wherever and whenever they feel like to, it's hard to move your car. You know the zombies in The Walking Dead movie? It looks exactly like it. Weekend is a nightmare, dont even think about it. It doesn't even help when it come to the staff, rude as hell and they act like they shop like other customers, not offering to help, and when you ask, they act like you bother them. Come on now, really? I come here of its convenient, not far from my work, and I usually go during my lunch hour with my coworkers to pick up some stuff. There are not a lot of people working in this store and not many people go shopping in there it was the weekend where it is always busy with shoppers. People here like coming to this target store. It's no wonder this target is screw no one wants to work here or shop here not a lot of people are interested in working at this target. This is a pretty good location and I usually get some nice deals there. The ladies clothing department and the cosmetics department are usually the places where I shop when I'm here. The parking lot is very big but nevertheless is can be loaded with cars so your best bet is to shop here in the mornings or early afternoon. The help here is not the friendliest but as long as I can come in and find what I want it's all good. I like the layout of the store and it's easy to shop. read more

Not going to lie this Target can be a tad hectic before you even enter the store. The parking lot is a pre-adventure. You have to be hyper aware in this area because on more than one location I have had people ask me for money in the parking lot. Pros: It's a Target, so they carry all the Target stuff. Cons: It's like Lord of the Flies in there. I went there today (a summer Monday afternoon) and it was like watching the collapse of civilization. Maybe that's being too dramatic. Perhaps it was more like watching a fun summer camp in which the employees are the campers and the customers are the visiting, unwelcome guests in the nice cabin across the lake. The employees here look like they are having tons of fun - today I saw them cuddling, gossiping, laughing and carrying on. Anything except running cash registers, which had long lines like you wouldn't believe. In today's ten minute wait to check out I counted four red-shirted Targeteers pass me on their way from the break area (?) to the floor to have whatever exciting adventures lay ahead of them. Two of them were hugging and giggling on their way. Seriously, it looked fun. I almost joined them. Maybe there was a secret check-out lane back there. If by some miracle a Target manager happens to read this, or better yet, a corporate Target-type, please get control of this place. I've heard this site used to be a K-Mart, and it is clear that the haunting, hapless soul of K-Mart has gained control of your customer service. read more

A few weeks ago I needed a bulb for a living room fixture, compared prices online and Target was a buck or so cheaper than Home Depot. Everything went fine. Last Sunday night we needed to pick up some cat litter and food and our regular store was closed so we got all the supplies here. Again, nothing bad to report. Reading the other reviews you'd think someone bombed the store and left behind a colony of subhumans. Sure, this location's currently undergoing renovations but it's not like the store's the shambolic heap of other's hyperbole. It's the same as every other Target, just some plastic and tyvek on a few walls and the sidewalk out front's dug up. And the clientele? It's a fucking Target, not Barneys. If someone shopping in sweatpants pisses you off so much there's plenty of traffic to throw yourself into on the conveniently nearby Southeast Expressway. read more

First off, let me defend this Target location from the other reviewers. Most reviews complain about the parking. This is an outdoor shopping center with a lot of big box stores in a major city. Of course the parking lot will be busy. And it's up to the shopping center to deal with the parking issues, not Target's ability to fix. If you want to park close to the store, then yes, it's a mess. Or, you can choose to walk a few extra feet, and park just a little farther away where there is a plethora of parking spots. I didn't realize people of Boston had such high standards for large parking lots. Now, my issue with this Target is that the prices are always wrong. The prices shown under the product in the aisles are often different from what the product rings up as. And when it's priced wrong, it always rings up higher than advertised....never lower. So check your receipts. Sometimes, it's off by a lot, and worthwhile to go to Customer Service to get the difference back. But the really annoying ones are when it rings up only 10 cents higher than it was marked. Because it's not worth your time to fight it, so you just leave annoyed that you got rooked. I generally like Target, but I don't like that this location literally nickels and dimes me on their prices. Isn't that against the law? read more

This Target gets four stars for one reason, and one reason alone: I had impeccable service for one thing. The Target in Everett did not have the camera I wanted in-stock. Normally, I would not go to Target for electronics purchases, but it was regular-price everywhere else, and Target had it on clearance for half the original price. The Target in Everett said that South Bay had 5 of the model I wanted. I made my way down 93 and into this Target. Of course, they had none of the camera I wanted. I don't expect there to be 5 when the computer says so, even though Everett called and confirmed, but I expect there to be one or two. I waited for 30 minutes while every possible location in the store could be checked. Nope, none of that model camera. A manager came over to see if he could help, especially since I was annoyed that I had driven down there for apparently no reason when gas was nearly $4.00 a gallon. The manager offered me any other comparable camera for the same price...what???? I had actually been debating between two different models for cameras, so I got the other one for $70 less than the actual price! Of course, the price is now lower 2 months later because of the holidays, but my old camera's light sensor was dying in September/October, not now, so I couldn't have waited anyway. I got a good deal for the time of year, so I'm a happy camper. (Plus, it's only $20 less now than I ended up paying anyway. Had I paid the regular price and it was $90 less now, I'd be annoyed.) read more

I drive by two Targets on my way home the Watertown location and this one. MAN I love me some Target and I am in one about once a week. So easy everything I need in one place. Now, I need to say that I only am in here on weekdays after 7, which is when I like to go shopping anywhere. Who does weekend shopping? Oh that is right! EVERYONE WITH ANNOYING FAMILIES AND SCREAMING CHILDREN. If you grew up on earth you know this. AVOID SHOPPING ON SUNDAY IF YOU HATE CROWDS AND BABIES. Now that I got that anger out. THIS is the Target I prefer. The layout makes sense, the staff is always pleasant borderline friendly. Which is awesome when you are a cashier. My only complaint is that the Starbucks is AWFUL. Being from Minnesota, I'm a big fan of Target! Whether is a Targét Boutique or a Targetto; they both serve their purpose. This Target Store is the latter. There is always a security guard at the entrance and the exit. There is always a line at the hotdog stand and the layaway. And on days when its over 90 degrees outside, its always full of people getting free Air Conditioning. The nice part is, they always have the high end ($50+) items in stock. Last week I wanted a vacuum that was on sale for $99. Since I don't have a car this required some planning ahead. I called to make sure they had one left. They did and the woman on the phone offered to put it on hold for me since it was the last one. Since we were using a ZipCar, we had little time to waste. I was able to run in, grab the Hoover, a gallon of milk and a case of Dew and I was out of there in no time. Target rarely lets me down, and this location is no exception. read more

As a newcomer to Boston, this was my first run-in with Dorchester and, despite being told not to venture into these parts of town, I was desperate for a Target date and the South Bay center is the closest by bus (no T stop nearby). Like all other Targets, clad in red, this location offers everything you need... but I was a little disappointed with the layout... for instance, the cleaning supplies (brooms, dusters, etc) are a couple of isles away from the cleaning chemicals and soaps. I know it seems like a silly thing to mull over, but it makes a difference when you're pressed for time... you definitely DON"T want to be waiting around for the next bus. Anyway, the employees were super helpful (they don't look it, but they are) and I was relieved that they all spoke English... where I come from, they don't and that can get really frustrating.
