This is an expansion of their Kneeland location. Located in the former restaurant supply location…read morethis spot seems to specialize more in antique and reproduction furnishings than the other shop. First off, they've really done a great job making the location look a lot better. The flooring is nice, they seem to have closed off the creepy staircase that led to the basement, and they've opened a nice little loft to house more of their items. I was struck by the "new" smell of the store. A welcome change from the stuffiness that came with the restaurant store. they also seem to let more light in which helps add an airy feeling. The furniture they have here ranges from 150+ year old vegetable chests to brand new standing writing desks and everything in between. There are some great Tibetan reproductions and what I can only assume were temple doors. Considering the size and age of many of these pieces the prices seemed very reasonable. They also have a nice selection of knick-knacks including these cool reproduction jewelery boxes with mirrors that flip out and brass locks. There are silk place mats, table runners, fountains, HUGE vases, urns, exquisite pottery, and many other things. The center of the store has a low set table where they invite you to experience Kung Fu tea. though I didn't partake the variety was impressive and the people sitting there seemed to be enjoying themselves. I did like the selection of teas and tea sets in the area and purchased a cute brewing tea mug as a gift. I also picked up a bag of rose petal tea to go along with. Both were sold at great prices. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. One of the owners gave us a tour of the loft and explained the origin of many of the products. He is clearly very passionate about the shop and knows a lot about the items and their manufacturing. It added to the experience and certainly made the pieces seem that much more special. What a great little shop and a marked improvement over the last shop to be in this location.

It's horrible but true. The very core of China Town is slowly rotting away and being infected but…read morestores that don't uphold the pillars of the community, Plastic, Bamboo, and Sketchy. Slowly stores that used to sell low cost items and wrap items in Chinese dailies are being replaced by places selling "quality" products. The restaurant supply store that was here previously was fantastic and somehow managed to hold out while the other stores were replaced. The new store is just random. A number of the items, from vanity screens to wooden chests are interesting but the entire location has an odd layout, pricing is well above a casual purchase and I can't for the life of be understand who they are trying to cater to. Perhaps with a bit of a rework of their inventory they could cater to a broader range of buyers but a Chinese furniture store doesn't seem to be a good fit for the location.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Lies, non-existent customer service, missed delivery dates, zero communication, and…read moreconstant excuses. I waited months for a furniture purchase while delivery dates were missed multiple times, with delays disclosed only after I repeatedly chased the store for updates. There was zero proactive communication throughout the process. I've had the great misfortune and displeasure of having to deal with Anthony Goode, one of the proprietors. He needs to get a serious lesson in customer service and hospitality or get out of the retail business. After the second missed delivery, he was unapologetic, deflected responsibility, and refused to provide a guaranteed delivery date. When asked to put everything in writing--including delivery commitments or compensation--he insisted on phone calls only, an apparent attempt to avoid a written record. After extensive back-and-forth and continued refusal to provide basic accountability or a firm delivery date, I was forced to cancel the order. Despite this, the business has refused to issue a refund of my 50% deposit. This is an unscrupulous and deceptive business operation that avoids transparency and accountability at every turn. Save yourself the time, stress, and money--do not shop here. Buyer beware!!!

Just want to give a huge positive shout out to Nathan at BoConcept in Boston…read more I visited my son in Boston and found the store on a whim. Nathan was completely gracious and very experienced with the creative and sales process. I returned to Atlanta to share some thoughts about a sectional sofa that I saw while in Boston. Later in the week Nathan remembered me and was so helpful during the long distance purchase process. Cudos to Nathan...cant wait until the new piece is deliveded. Michel

More like 3.5 stars, but I really wanted to like this place, so I'll be generous in my rating. The…read moreplace seemed more like a cluttered interior design office than a retail location. The merchandise was unique to a lot of other places, but seemed a bit repetitive: little gorgeous purple finger bowls and lots of animal-skin throws and rugs; plus all the nice but spendy furniture, and a listening station for CDs that reminded me of those Puttomayo CD stands you could find at the old Nature Company stores.

I was looking forward to all kinds of goodies from South America, but the boutique fell a little short. Most of the store is filled with leather chairs and animal throws. Which is fine, if you're desperate to fill your home with either of those things. But I couldn't imagine buying cowskin (or whatever it was) to throw on my walls... The vases and other decor was pretty cool, but there just wasn't enough of that stuff for my liking. I'd had loved to see more rugs, but just not of the animal print kind. And I did like the shawls and some of the handbags, but my favorite was the music. Really cool tunes were playing and they have a great setup/listening station for those wishing to check out the other artists/cd's they have. Lastly, the location. Obviously they can't help it, but they're right across from the Pine Street Inn, which may hurt their customer flow. I'll definitely pop in there again, I'm always in that part of the South End, and I hope they vary their selection around a bit.
