This CVS Pharmacy is conveniently located in Charles St Plaza, right by MGH & next to Whole Foods! I can see this CVS pharmacy being popular for patients as it's only a few minutes walk away from the main MGH campus. They have a parking lot, free up to 30 minutes I believe then charges by the hour. There is also an underground garage, Charles St Garage, which has elevator + stair access to the stores. I like coming here to grab snacks, drinks, and sometimes hello kitties haha! They have great deals if you pay attention to their coupons & oftentimes I end up scoring a $50 cart for only $5 or no cost at all with my extra care bucks. Decently sized but I find that there are a bunch of items I typically buy at other locations that aren't available here, whether the item is sold out or just don't carry. Overall, not a bad location & I seem to have very good luck finding holiday themed hello kitties here! read more

I frequent CVS, far more than most, Because I use it for my prescriptions, toiletries and in between grocery shopping errands. As far as CVS locations go, I do NOT prefer this one. It is much busier than other locations, since it is located near MGH's primary care, Dental and gastroenterology building. The staff seem stressed and much less friendly. THE DEAL: there is another, less busy, CVS. It's much smaller, and just at the end of Cambridge Street. read more

Absolutely ridiculous system when you call to talk to pharmacy. It took me 7 minutes of pressing so many buttons and I Still couldnt talk to someone you had to leave a message. They couldn't under the DOB I was typing in for identity- but they listed my medication by the robot when I called. I highly recommend this location for passport pictures. I had previously gone to the location in Back Bay on 240 Newbury Street and they took it very close to my face from a slightly lower angle pointed upward and it was not very flattering. 191 Cambridge in the West End was so much better. I had already done my makeup and had a brush with me so I decided to pop in and get new pictures taken just to have another set to choose from. They had a swivel chair to sit on which helps when taking a picture and choosing your good side (though it's still a straight on picture) as well as having better posture. They also have a light grey background which softens the look instead of stark white. And I loved how they took it from farther away and zoomed in!! You also have the the option for a digital version on a flash drive which Newbury street didn't offer. The people taking the pictures and checking out were lovely to work with and did a great job. Overall I highly recommend this location for passport pictures and I'm glad I chose to take a second set here. read more

I had to fight with the cashier to get a BAG. I used my green bag tag and my own bag for most of my purchases (which, by the way, she made me bag myself while she stared at me and people waited behind me), but not everything would fit in my cloth bag. So I asked her for a plastic bag for the remainder of the purchases, which were piled in front of her on the counter. She said NO, you used a green bag tag so no bag for you. This is as clean and as organized as a CVS can get. The staff is friendly and customer service oriented. - Extra Bucks expired - no problem, they will give you the discount - Error on self service machines - staff will immediately come and enter their code - Advertised product is unavailable - they will do a comparable swap if you come in early in the week - Returning makeup- not a problem, no questions asked I can get in and out pretty fast..so I have no complaints. read more

Last night I unexpectedly had to stay over in Boston (caring for ill relative). Didn't have my nightly medication with me - and it was too late for my usual pharmacy to help. The guys at this CVS were great - they went above & beyond trying to help. I'm new to Beacon Hill, so I did an extensive amount of Yelping to find a decent convenience/grocery-like store nearby. I got here around 7:00 p.m. on a weeknight and while there were lots of people in the store I noticed several employees walking through the aisles, the shelves were well stocked, and the place was clean and tidy. They had 4 self checkout stations; however, 2 friendly employees were assisting customers with checking out. All in all, I would have to say that this was a very pleasant CVS experience. I stop in here when shopping at the Whole Foods next door. Its a pretty good sized store, well stocked, and clean. Being on Beacon Hill, this place could have become a disaster in a heartbeat but so far so good. The addition of handful of self-service checkout machines is a welcome addition for those of us that enjoy limiting our human interaction. Plus having parking available earns it that last 5th star. The self-checkout aisles here are a nice change from the usually-long register lines, but the aisles feel a bit compressed and the selection, especially food, is a bit sparse compared to what I'm used to seeing in CVS. I guess it's a bit of a trade-off given the location, I just wish you didn't have worry about them running out of JIF if four people buy a jar. People need JIF! read more

The store provides the worst customer service. The self check out machines don't work properly for every item scan it alerts you"assistant is on the way stand by. My coupon were not accepted only to have my items rescanned... which was a waste of time since I went over my parking validation and had to pay for parking. read more

I bought Laroche-Posay sunscreen the other day and when I got home and opened the box I noticed that the product was used. I brought it back and exchanged it only to find out that the replacement was also used. I happened to be at another CVS later in the day and noticed that the Laroche-Posay sunscreen was sealed. I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed by the amount of time (and money) I spend at this CVS. Sad but true reality: I spend so much money here throughout the week that almost every other week I get a 25-30% off coupon. I like this CVS - I live in the area, so it make sense for me for most things. I know what they carry and I know what they don't carry. They don't stock everything - I would say it's a full step up in terms of stock than the one across from the MGH T stop. I love the self-check out and I love that they always have someone (if not two people) maning the self checkout area to help in case of a bum machine. I know where everything is in this store, so I can get in and out fairly quickly. Easily 4 stars in my book. read more

CVS opened in Boston many years ago as Consumer Value Store. CVS then started buying all the smaller, independent drug stores so that it now has a monopoly in the City of Boston and can and does charge whatever it wants. Pharmacy -- COUNT YOUR PILLS. I once purchased a prepackaged 90-day supply of Tier 2 high blood pressure pills, went home, opened the bottle (I needed extra pills for a 30-day vacation), and realized that not only had the bottle been opened, it contained 60 pills, not the 90 I had paid for. I went back to CVS, and the response was, "Someone needed the pills, so we took some from you. Come back in 15 minutes." My two prescriptions run out at the same time; however, this time, I am short 30 pills, so that either they gave me 30 extra on one (doubtful) or shorted me 30 on the other (probably). Count your pills! CVS Brands Not as good as others. With the Extra Card, $4 off $20 excluding sale items, now $5 off $30 including sale items, I toss them. I can do better elsewhere. The products specifically fish oil are inferior. Some items advertised on Sunday are not available on Monday. CVS response, "The manufacturer only sent us so much, we usually do not sell that brand, and we will not have anymore." Many major brands, i.e., Vaseline, are not available. The store is small in comparison to the number of products it sells Easy self-checkout -- Convenient, but again, check your bill. The sale item you thought you purchased was not on sale; the item next to it was, and the laser can pick up the price of any item as many as three times. Would I go back? I wish there was another store for competition. . read more

This is my go-to CVS because it's so close to my work. They are always on top of new random items (chocolate skittles, new Orbit gum flavors, awesome new cosmetics, new random soda, hair products, seasonal candy). I go hear often because I live nearby, but many of the products are insanely over-priced. I just bought a pair of Dr. Sholls inserts that were $14.29 at CVS, while Target and Walmart sell them for $6-6.99. Likewise the makeup products I buy are more than twice the price here as they are at other stores. They do have a wide selection of products. I would avoid shopping here if it wasn't so damn convenient! read more

Completely unapologetic about running out of stock to fill my medication. I did more than what was required on my end to secure the refill, but the sluggish computer system and failure to check for supply on their end when I asked about it yesterday in-house means that I will now be without the medication for the next three days. Staff person was unfriendly; not at all reassuring or willing to help beyond the bare minimum of what the job description requires. I've gone to many CVS pharmacies over the years and had both good and bad experiences. This one makes the Top 5 for most frustrating/ upsetting. Will consider transferring locations. read more

I can't think of anything bad to say about this place, other than it needs to be on the corner of Bowdoin St. to replace the useless Rite Aid there. I was having some serious sink drainage issues last night and nothing else was open, so I walked over to CVS praying they'd have what I needed, and right away I found myself a bottle of Drano Max and a plunger. I definitely like the self-checkout lines (except when I'm waiting for the few cluless people operating them at a painfully slow pace), the fact that it's so close to my workplace, and that it's not, uh, Whole Foods. Store is a bit small and packed with stuff, but there are four check out stands and five self check out stations so it moves right along.

Nice that it has parking but waited in line for more than 15min to just drop off a prescription. They had one person only who was on the Phone helping another customer for what it seemed like forever. Ended up having to leave without being able to drop the prescription :/ read more

I don't know how this CVS hasn't been shut down by the health board. The carpet smells like mold--it hits you as soon as you walk in. The floors look, smell, and feel like they haven't been mopped in years. It's impossible to find anything, or to find anyone to help you find anything. read more
