I've been to this pharmacy a few times before and it has always been good, but today I worked with a red headed person (i believe his name was Jason) and he was incredible. This is the worst pharmacy ever. If I could give them zero stars, I would. The staff is rude and extremely unfriendly. The pharmacist is highly unprofessional and also rude. Everything is disorganized; they can never find your medication. They can't answer any questions, and they never pick up the phone. I want to say that CVS has always been there for us. I live in Florida and that is our regular pharmacy there. However, we are vacationing in Boston this last week. My husband started feeling sick two nights ago and so we found the CVS at 321 Massachusetts Avenue to get some COVID tests. Well, he tested positive. We called our doctor for COVID medicine, she called it in to the pharmacy. The wrong one! But the Pharmacist at the CVS at the Massachusetts venue was wonderful and understanding and knew exactly how to get the prescription sent to her store. My hubby started taking it immediately and he is actually starting to feel better. We are now heading out to a country place where we can voluntarily isolate ourselves until he gets healthy again. Perhaps due to ignorance, they don't follow actual MA rules/provisions for picking up medications with an ID. Kid has local college student ID, but an expired passport, so they're saying they won't give him his medication. This is in spite of the MA provision stating that if the pharmacist can confirm the ID fo the person, then can give them the medication. Basically, they follow one part of the state law, but ignore the rest. Definitely going to a different pharmacist in the future. read more

I can't stand this CVS. Normally, I really like CVS because it seems to have everything. At this one, however, the people who work here are ridiculously rude. I had one terrible experience in particular: I had a little bit of an eye infection two weeks ago. I went to my school's health center and the doctor called CVS for prescription eye drops. Just to make sure that they're be ready when I got there, I went 3 hours later to pick them up. They weren't ready. Why? Because the pharmacist didn't know what eye drops my doctor was asking for! You'd think that maybe when someone called in the prescription, they'd say, "wait, what?" but that didn't happen. I talked to one really nice pharmacist (Ross?) and he explained things to me, so although I was annoyed, I was alright. I went back two days later (because I had to work the entire next day - and I used Visine in the meantime). There was STILL confusion about what eye drops to give me! Apparently, they called my doctor and she never returned the call. I understand that things like that happen. But really...it had been two whole days. I was told to wait just a little bit, and I did. As I looked around and waited, I realized there were five or six other people waiting as well. I don't know if all CVS pharmacies are like this, but it was ridiculous. And kind of awkward. Finally, the kid at the register (probably a pharmacy student) calls my name. He grabs the prescription and chucks it on the counter. Really? I've also got no purse, I'm just in a jacket and jeans. When I just stand there after he chucks my eye drops, he realizes that I didn't grab them. He says, "Oh, do you need a bag?" uh, YEAH. it's a prescription! I know it's only for eye drops, but still! It was ridiculous. I had to get some new contact solution and a new case, so I picked those up with a couple other things and went to the front counter to pay for those. There are four people at registers. Three of them are just standing around talking to each other. I stand there awkwardly waiting for one of them to tell me they can ring me out. Doesn't happen for a good 15 seconds or so. I go up to the girl who rings me out who obviously hates her job. She asks if I have a CVS card, which I do. I lift it up to her so she can scan it, and she ignores it so she can finish scanning everything else, leaving me with my hand in the air like I wasn't asked for it. It was just rude. And so, in conclusion, go to any other CVS but this one and I'm sure your experience will be much better. read more

The best part of this CVS is when an employee (first named starts with a K) in the pharmacy just throws you to hold music without saying "I will put you on hold", so you think you actually just got pushed back into a queue. That's definitely my favorite part. Rude. It just happened to me 3 times in a row because of some back and forth between me and doctor and pharmacy. I hate this CVS. Im from Midwest and I prefer Walgreens, but the closest Walgreens is on Boylston, and Im to lazy/busy to walk over. First of all, the employees. In order to get a job there you must be high, smell like cheap Pariz Hilton perfume and most importantly take and pass the bitch test. I understand you job consists of putting Always, condoms, candy and Depends on the shelf, but Im sure you knew the job description before you applied. And if you dont like it, you can quit and go get a job somewhere else. Noone ever said "Thank you", or "Have a good day" or "Did you find everything okay" to me. Absolutely no customer service. Once I actually had to ask the little ^&*% at the register to scan my shit. I also seen this one craptastic employee basically yelling at this cute older gentlemen, who could've been your grandpa. I guess he was having hard time finding some medicine and the bitch yelled at him "Cant you read?", so I went over there and helped him find it. And when I asked him what he was looking for, she just left. BIOTCH. The set up also blows, and if you're buying Always or Depends everyone standing in line will see it. I dont have a problem with people seeing me buy some Always, but I guess when you're buying Depends.....thats a whole different ball game. At least its not monistat. ....Ive seen a few girls holding their Always and Playtex and trying to cover it up with some magazine or trying to hide in their basket under some TP and shampoo. As for merchandise, they got the standard fare makeup, cards, laundry, shampoo, toothpaste, garbage bags and TP. They do not have any plastic to go containers. I needed some, and I had to go to Whole Foods to get their free range, corn fed, free trade to go containers which cost as much as my law school tuition. So, I dont know why CVS doesnt have any to go containers, they are at the student central. But then, how many of us cook or have left overs? They do have good Vday and Easter after candy sales. I get all my drugs here. For cheap. They know how to hook me up. LEGALLY. Unfortunately, a lot of their non-medicine items are a bit expensive, but you're in Back Bay, so it's gonna happen. Everyone that works here has always been friendly and helpful. It's also real close to my work, so I can pick up things during my lunch break or before or after work. I pick up drugs whenever I want. Drugs drugs drugs. Legal prescription drugs. But seriously...if you want drugs, they'll get them for you. But you have to give them a little piece of paper with scribbles on it first. It's quite a racket. But it gets you nice drugs. Or drugs that make you sane. Or that calm your stomach. Or that prevent you from getting pregnant. Or drugs that cure lovesickness (that's not true). If you ever harbor a strange desire to immerse yourself in a massive death cloud of people, then this CVS is your best friend. Seriously, every time I come here, this place is packed. Even on 11:30 on a Saturday night. Haven't any of these people got anything better to do than to spend ungodly amounts of time in a CVS? Good luck trying to pick up a prescription in less than half an hour - all of your time will be spent waiting in line behind dozens of other equally irritated people. Usually they only have one or two people ringing up prescriptions at a time, which is far from adequate, and sometimes there will be no one at all. The service is hit or miss - I've had experiences with employees who look like they might melt to the floor in a puddle in any minute, but there is this one really nice lady who works there who's checked me out a couple of times. I did also witness a crazy woman rambling and projectile vomiting outside of this CVS once. I'm not quite sure what to make of that. read more

Very friendly staff. I recently transfered some prescriptions here from another Pharmacy in New Jersey. The process was much more simple than I had expected. I said I would be back the next day to pick it up but unfortunately someone had failed to call it in and it wasn't ready. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for them to get it all together though and they apologized. They could maybe use a little help behind the drug counter, sometimes the line gets a little long. read more

This is a very average CVS. They have all of the necessary items a CVS should have, plus a bunch of student-oriented things because they're near Northeastern and Berklee, as well as some outdoor things because they're across the street from the park. For some reason, they tend to have a ton of "leftovers" in the seasonal aisle that end up on markdown, so that's always a bonus for me, since I love raiding the after-holiday sales. Though for some reason, all CVS stores stopped carrying Brach's Jelly Beans around Easter. I have no idea why, but I refuse to buy their disgusting store brand jelly beans, which at 99 cents, are so repulsive they're a waste of money. Like all CVS stores, their prices on many things are hugely marked up compared to Target and even Stop and Shop, so I only buy things there when I need them immediately, like medicine, Hallmark cards, and snacks. But as CVS stores go, they're OK. Since their recent renovation, they've added a lot more space, a huge food section, and in general improved the store. It makes me sad I no longer have a reason to be in this neighborhood, and glad that Blockbuster finally tanked. read more

They messed up my prescription and gave me half of what my doctor prescribed. They will not fill my prescription if they don't have it without letting me know when I'm there picking up the rest of my medicine. I have to go back and ask for it after I go home and discover I'm missing one. They aren't accessible via phone; I've waited on hold for over an hour before. Picking up prescriptions there usually takes me around 30-40 mins. This pharmacy has actually been a huge hindrance on me taking my medications and makes it so hard for me to get my medications which has affected my health. read more

The pharmacy staff are rude and have no idea what they're doing. Even if you call ahead for a refill you still have to wait in line for them to fill it when you get there. Once there was a misunderstanding and I was simply trying to explain what the issue was and the employee came off as extremely defensive and aggressive towards me for no reason. I'm in town for work, so I needed a prescription transferred here. After calling this location, the person on the other line told me I needed to call my CVS in LA to get it transferred - which I know is incorrect after doing this many times due to traveling for work. When I tried to explain that I had done this before, she essentially hung up on me. I called my CVS in LA, and they rightly told me to contact the CVS I needed the prescription transferred to. I explained the situation, so they agreed to call this Boston CVS. When I went to pick up the prescription at the Boston CVS 2 days later, they didn't have it. I explained the situation again, getting really frustrated by this point. She said you have to call us to get it transferred - which I explained that I did initially, but was hung up on - and the other person on the line didn't seem to know the right procedure. Instead of taking the time to assist me, she directed me to wait in the drop off line to tell them there and get it transferred. I understand that might be standard, but seemed ridiculous to wait in yet another line when I was speaking to a pharmacy representative in person. I'll be looking for another location in Boston to help me. read more

Your Needs are Not Considered I have been using this pharmacy for a few years. It's convenient, so I overlooked the rather prices and obnoxious marketing practices. This week I went to spend the balance on my OTC card, which had to be used by the end of the month. It's supposed to cover non-prescription items like non-prescription medications, soap, toothpaste, compression socks, probiotics, vitamins, muscle rub, etc. I checked CVS.com and it listed a huge amount of items, largely the store brand. There was a warning that not all items would be covered in all stores, and that covered items could vary from week to week. So I picked up a number of 'covered' items, and most were rejected at the register. Moreover, there was no way to find out what was covered; the only suggestion I got was to go to CVS.com. So eventually I was able to use most of the balance after multiple trips to the register. It shouldn't be that hard to spend $86! I'm never going back there, read more

I go here all the time because it's near where I work, so I never really thought about whether I liked it or not. I mean, it's CVS, a life neccessity, right? But now they have radically changed this one, it has expanded about four times bigger and has self-checkouts and a whole bunch of new employees and...big excitement as the displays and aisles keep changing.
