This CVS is great for where it is. It is right by the HI Boston Hostel and has all the essentials all in one place. They have one gallon sized water as well as 1.5 liter water bottles when I went back in late September 2021. They also have ready-made sandwiches near the front of the store in the refrigerators. I also saw that they had the tuna kits with crackers and mayo in one of the aisles. I'd highly recommend this place if you're staying nearby and need to get something quick. They're open until 11PM while most other stores closed pretty early nearby. Not sure about parking because it was walking distance from the Hostel. read more

My dad was at the CVS pharmacy. He was originally served by a young guy who I believe is a new employee but afterwards, a Chinese lady named Karen (not sure if I spelled her name right), the other pharmacist co-worker, came over. My dad asked her how long the wait time will be because of his leg problems he can't stand for long periods of time. Karen said to my dad if you can't wait then you can go to somewhere else and she's the one who's in charge at the pharmacy. My mom heard what she said to my dad and was obviously very upset because is that how the pharmacist treat the elderly!? My mom was trying to argue with Karen, but Karen refused to fill the prescriptions for my dad. Does the pharmacist have the power to refuse to fill my dad's prescriptions just because of his medical disability of not being able to stand for a long time!? What happened if my dad's condition becomes life threatening because Karen refused to fill my dad's prescriptions that he needs to take on a daily basis? This CVS and their pharmacy were great. First time in decades, different state, and yet, when my out-of-state provider called in a common prescription, all went smoothly. I even got a phone call within the hour, informing me the medication was ready! Pleasant, efficient, polite pharmacist too. read more

This is such a scam place! I am one of the victims! Some thief or hacker stole customers, who used to visited this place, credit card information and spent thousands and thousands of money INSIDE!!! Of course at CVS branch level they don't have authority for reimbursement, so customers went to their bank to file claims. Several months later, the merchant fought back to the bank and stated that those customers visited them within past years, CVS doubted these must be "acting fraudulent", so bank refused to pay back to customers, because customers must received benefits on this, and customers have to eat their lost!!! How can a regular person in a pharmacy and convenient store can spent thousands and thousands of money??!! To buy what??? Think about the common sense, CVS! you saved your money but you lost your reputation!!!! read more

As in most CVS stores, the staff here are particularly polite, courteous and helpful, solving every issue that arises quickly and effectively. I have to specifically give kudos to the gentleman (maybe mid-thirties? Dark hair) that is usually at the check-out area and who always greets everyone there with a warm smile and kind words and remembers regular customers. read more

Stop it! 2 employees ringing up at registers can handle twice as many people as 4 self checkouts with 2 employees running around to assist. This CVS was recently renovated to cut cashiers and add self-service checkouts. My review is really about the new checkout system, so it could apply to any of the downtown-Boston CVS's that have been similarly converted. I stopped by this CVS to pick up some Nyquil and Dayquil for my husband. Once I found what I was looking for, I proceeded to the front of the store. I found one live cashier (with a couple of customers in line), and 5 (out of 6) self-service checkout stands available. I thought, "Okay, I'll check myself out. Beats waiting in line." I began ringing up the medicine, and suddenly a message pops up on my screen -- "Age restricted item -- Cashier needed" -- or something to that effect. My checkout station light started flashing, apparently to alert a nearby employee to help me, but there was no one there. The live cashier's line was now empty, but she did not come over to help. I stood and waited a good two minutes (and in the meantime, three other stations had started flashing), but no one came. I saw there was a button to take your purchases over to the live cashier, so I chose that option and walked over with a receipt that contained a barcode with a "Teen Drug Abuse Prevention" label. Now, I understand why they would want to restrict this item, but that does NOT excuse them from ignoring the self-checkout area completely. You still need an employee standing by to help people. As an aside, I also think it's really sad that CVS is cutting its costs in this way. I think it will hurt them in the long run. read more

Extraordinarily helpful staff, happy to go out of their way and take care of you. I walked in and found myself a bit lost among the food aisles, and flagged down the first employee I saw stocking inventory. Not only did she walk me over to the section I was looking for, but finished off with "...and my name is Elsie, so please come find me if you have any other questions I can help you with." Wow...ok, very cool. I walk over to the self-checkout, and the CVS card stored in my Key Ring app isn't playing nicely with the scanner. Another employee quickly comes over, asks for my phone, and with a flourish similar to the Konami code gets the bar code read and me happily on my way. Maybe I'm too used to New York ("Whaddaya want?!") service levels, but the staff here made my day and got me in and out in minutes with everything that I needed and more. read more

I was originally going to give this CVS a four-star review, but when I found out that Mass law restricts places like CVS from selling alcohol, my opinion of the whole drugstore establishment like CVS fell a star. It's location is decent and is actually convenient for those people living in the area. It's also close to a T-station, so that definitely gives it a little more foot traffic. Just be careful to not trip on a homeless person on the way in. My experience here tonight was actually pretty good, but would have sucked if I was on the search for beer. I only needed to buy some bottled water, and the price listed for a large jug was 1.65. But when I went up to pay for it, it ended up only being a dollar! I was very pleased and I busted out my Chase Freedom and paid for it proudly! No way was I going to let a couple of cents escape from me if I could help it. read more

Of all the CVS's in a 10 block radius, this is by far the best. It always has a weird crowd hanging out front, but unless it's after midnight when the trains are starting to wind down, they are totally harmless. The store is cut up into a few sections, but it isn't super hard to navigate. It seems disproportionately candy and makeup, but I've always found the cold stuff I needed too relatively quickly. My one complaint is that every time I line up for self check-out (sometimes a girl just doesn't want to talk to anyone or cough in their face) I seem to be called over to the random register in the area. Just let me be antisocial in peace for a change! Just this once! read more

Extremely well trained and genuinely friendly staff. They have a large staff that is always near if you need help or have questions. I have never had to call or wait for assistance. I live in the neighborhood and drop in at least once or twice a day for milk, bread and such. It is important that I can get in and out in a timely manner. This CVS never disappoints. read more

I don't much care for this one cashier who was rude to me. The machine to get your extra bucks without having to buy stuff is constantly broken, so that sucks. However, I came there to buy the pricier beauty products (the healthy skin stuff - LaRoche, Vichy, Lierac and such) and I was very happy with the beauty Manager Maria. She rocks. She gave me samples, explained everything, did not push me into buying products, did not talk smack about the other CVS lines that were less pricey that she was not responsible for. In fact, she was able to compare to the other products I am used to. I'd come back for her and her expertise. read more

I love this CVS...although I'm not sure it's possible to dislike CVS. I've been coming here for years and have never had an issue. They've had employees helping in the self-checkout section for a long time now, so when people run into problems, they are quickly rectified for people waiting in line. I've never had to search for more than a few seconds for help (like a few weeks ago when I wanted to get an electric toothbrush, and it had to be removed from a security/locked cabinet in the oral hygiene aisle). This CVS is only a few minutes from my job so it's pretty convenient. read more

Stopped in on my way to Tufts Dental. I needed to buy a charger for my phone. The selection was locked where I couldn't Touch or look at the back of packaging. Store was poorly staffed. Well lit, very clean, Thing that made me laugh is the fact they had a person directing customers to cashiers. Seemed like a waste of time and a position. She was gruff, never made eye contact. Store was great. Cashier was pleasant, professional and very efficient. read more

The cashiers are very inconsistent. Some of the cashiers are really nice, but a few of them suck! I went today to buy something and the photo lab assistant (short woman with glasses, looks like a cow) was a total bitch. That's all I have to say. The staff here are generally nice and helpful, especially with regards to the crew at the cashier stations. You will likely find whatever you need in the shop, be it toiletries, snacks, magazines, etc. The pharmacy staff is also usually pretty good about calling patients to let them know that their medication is ready. The only downside is the sketchy crowd around the area (courtesy of the halfway house in the area) though they generally don't do anything so long as you ignore them. read more

Average cvs here but with more limited item selection. I feel that the sales aren't as many as other cvs. The staff is firndly and there's always a cop around. There's a bunch of bums outside the cvs. There's usually 1 or 2 cashiers but 5 self checkouts. I'll come back since it's close to me. read more

Yes this CVS is conveniently located and yes they do have the basics, but not my choice of CVS when in need of something. Coming from the Boston Commons, the streets the lead up the CVS smell like urine and is quite shady just for that one block. The store is usually pretty busy and messy. The customer service here is interstellar. This post is dedicated to Kevin, who is hands-down the most amazing, patient, wonderful, enabler of my Brookside Crunchy Clusters addiction. Whenever CVS has BOGO half off chocolate sales and Brookside sales, I go absolutely crazy. I came in one night an hour or so before closing, when the sales were about to end, and cleared out half a shelf of Crunchy Clusters. Perhaps the self-check was already programmed to the next week's sales, but when I was checking out, none of the sale prices registered and I was being charged $50+ for my chocolate and chocolate-covered bites of paradise. However, CVS honors their sale prices until midnight, so that's when Kevin stepped in. Even though he had spent a good half hour trying to ring up the correct total at least four times, he persisted until the numbers finally matched my calculations! I walked away with my bill cut in half, bags full of chocolate, and a tinge of embarrassment (but I was way too happy to dwell on that sentiment). #shameless #kevindeservesapromotion read more

This CVS is a freak show, and I love it. From the homeless people, the druggies, moms with babies, people who don't speak english, someone fighting over whether the item is on sale, college students, other office drones, the person paying with a check, a State police officer...this CVS seems to have people from every category. I go to it when it is on my way to the green line. I always think I will run in and come out quickly, unfortunately that is never the case. One day I was the lady with a return (I know, who returns stuff to CVS?), and they dealt with it pretty quickly, mostly because the manager was already at the counter. Just hope that they don't have to call a manager to the front, then you will be waiting in line a while. read more

I pick up the same prescription every month, and without fail it takes several visits and phone calls to this CVS to successfully get the prescription. Whether it's their computers failing, them running out of the prescription, or them just not returning the phone calls they promise to make to me, there's always something that makes this a serious hassle. If it weren't by the T station I use to commute, I would go elsewhere for sure. read more

Nicer interior than the Walgreens across the street, and carries more non-food essentials, though both shops have some essentials the other doesn't. The CVS has multiple self checkout stations, and a staffed register as well, so if I'm indifferent between CVS and Walgreens, I tend to opt for faster checkout. read more

There are four or five self-checkout machines as well as a person ringing up, but it still usually takes me ~20 minutes to pay. Yes, I am one of those crazy coupon ladies, but I have them lined up so it should be a quick experience. Wrong, wrong, wrong. There is always an issue with a machine and the worker who comes by to help out is usually in a very bad mood. While the selection is far better than that of other CVS' around the area, I would rather walk to the one in Downtown Crossing due to the poor service. read more

Buyers beware, this store puts very misleading sale signs to make you purchase. Always check your receipt before leaving the store to prevent going back and fix the problem because the staffs here will not accommodate you nor admit that what they do is false advertising. It's a shame their sister store on Winter street is also as insidious as this one. I can't wait for the Walgreen to open up and put this CVS into its place. read more

This review is for the pharmacy as I've seen my fair share of bad CVSs in my lifetime. The staff here are helpful and as nice as a pharmacy staff can be that doesn't know me from the next person. Sometimes, I find pharmacy staff to have a rude 'tude that makes me wonder WTF?! But not this one, maybe it's because they deal with the Chinese-only speaking clientele but they seem to have much more patience than what I normally find on the opposite side of the counter. My only two gripes are: 1) they take foreverrrrrr to fill something. Literally, like 3 times longer! (I. kid. you. not.) AND 2) the security guy at night doesn't have to glare and stalk me in the store. I don't know how I got on his bad side, but he needs to realize his glaring is accomplishing nothing and he's being a jerk face for no reason. read more

This is a relatively new location for CVS and I like it. It's in a good location - right by the Chinatown Orange line stop. It's relatively big and always clean. Decent selection of all your CVS favorites: shampoo, medications - they have a pharmacy here too. I like it. read more

I'll try not to factor in the location, but every time I think of this area of Boston, I get a little nauseated. It's one of those streets where you get home and feel like you need to wash the soles of your shoes (or, heaven forbid, flip flops........). Sorry, I did factor that in. But to be fair, I went to drop of a prescription and the pharmacist said the wait was over 2 hours. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in the boonies a few stops west of Kenmore Sq, but I can't recall ever waiting more than 30 minutes for a prescription to be filled. I mean, it takes literally 3 minutes to fill a prescription. That means (maths in head) 40 people were waiting ahead of me. And that's if there was only one pharmacist working...there were 2 that I could see, plus one at the pick up window. Needless to say, I left, and was happy to have been in and out in less time than it takes to fill a prescription. The store is a bit larger than I'd expect for the location so close to downtown. Hands down, I'd prefer the 24 hour Copley CVS which has two floors and is as big as any CVS I've seen. read more

Good selection of products. Not as great as a suburban location but it's got most of what I need as a nearby resident. (Better than neighboring Walgreen). Be aware of large numbers of vagrants at this intersection which makes getting into this store a bit intimidating at times. read more
