April 2023: 3: Overall, I would be hesitant to recommend this location. I located the store by accident while out walking around to check out the area while visiting the hospital nearby the store. There is street parking available at the meters. The frontage is under renovation and covered from the front view. The store appeared clean and orderly upon entry. There is an ATM near the doorway and a uniformed peace officer working at the entrance. The store seemed of decent size for a city type location. There were a variety of national products available for purchase. There were several workers I noticed in the store. It seems that there was an issue with management and work assignments. At the time of my visit, a store worker was having issues with the management. He voiced his displeasure at being put on hold before collecting his requested items. He started yelling in the store with customers watching because he was being ignored by management instead of being helped and moved on his way out of the store. This show lasted for over 20 minutes as I waited for my service to be completed. I wanted a few items that were in the store but noted that all of the desired items were damaged. I asked if the store would discount them if I purchased them anyway. No discount, was the answer from management. Hmmm, then why is the store selling damaged goods in the first place? I was on foot walking and I needed the items. I had to settle for the full price of the damaged items. I noted that there was a FedEx desk up for use at the store cashier areas. I also noted an ATM machine as well. Photo Center: 4: I was impressed with the quality of the photos I was able to get at this location. I was not impressed with the fact that when ordering online to pickup the same day in the store, no pictures were ready because the worker didn't check to see if something had come in for same day service. I arrived a few hours later to the store and still had to wait in the check out line only to be told the photos aren't ready yet because we didn't print them. The worker I was being helped by the first time, was competent and capable in completing the job. The following two days, I found that the male workers were not as capable. The process was explained to me and I was able to order the needed products while waiting in store on the first occasion. read more

Went there for a simple Covid shot. I understand the job is tough but I wasn't helped. As a matter of fact, I was mislead to go to a hospital to get them some info only to find out that I actually had an issue with my health insurance, which I don't and never had. They waisted my time and didn't seem to care. I couldn't believe it; Just for a Covid shot. I forgive them but DO NOT GO THERE read more

Employees do their best though there are times they are overwhelmed when there are a lot of customers. Store feels dingy; better lighting? Closest pharmacy to me so i go fairly often but if i had a choice would go elsewhere. read more

I should have looked up reviews before coming to this place. Went here to get my flu vaccine & Covid booster(only reason I went there is because they actually had a Pfizer shot). They were under staffed - which, I get. It happens, but the pharmacist(Hope) shouldn't be interacting with the general public. Not to mention, communication isn't their strong suit. Snaps at customers, and neglects to inform them of anything until the last minute. If a line is closed, put up a sign. I get you're probably bogged down, and we're all allowed a bad day - but if you're customer facing, you can't be like that. Btw the store was gross, and looked old and dirty. read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible. The manager, Janine (not sure if this is accurate spelling), refused to honor a valid coupon advertised under the product. She had me download an app to get the coupon then when I did and it still didn't work she told me it was for online only when it clearly says otherwise on the coupon and in the fine print. Then she would not stop interrupting me when I tried to explain the issue and resolve it. She clearly does not care. Wait times at the pharmacy are extremely long. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

Something needs to change here. The pharmacy and store pick and choose what hours they are open. I can understand being understaffed, etc., but it doesn't seem okay to not provide reasonable and consistent hours for people in this community to pick up their medications. I waited 2.5 weeks to fill a prescription at this location. I called my insurance, who informed me everything was fine on their end. They tried to call the pharmacy to sort things out themselves, but could not get through to any pharmacy staff. After weeks of troubleshooting, the pharmacy maybe(?) discovered the issue - the DOB they had on file was incorrect (in spite of them asking me to verify my DOB every time I went to try and pick up?). They told me it would be ready to pick up the following day. At this point I had already paid out of pocket for some of the meds, just so I was able to take them. To be 100% safe, I tried to call them to 100% verify that they had all the right info, and that it would in fact be ready to pickup the following day. I was on hold for 30 mins before they hung up on me. I arrived the following day, only to find a piece of paper on the door announcing that the pharmacy was closed all day. Now I am still without my prescription, and I have no idea if and when it will actually be ready. I should have sent the Rx elsewhere from the beginning, which I am sure to do now... but damn! As others have mentioned, lines at both the pharmacy and front counters can be very long. Pharmacy staff seem particularly overwhelmed and/or unable to do their jobs. I once saw a pharmacy employee tell someone waiting in line that they would be the last for the day, and then asked the CUSTOMER to tell anyone else behind them that they were the last in line. This was at 4 or 5 pm, well before their posted closing time. I've never had a problem with the staff, but I don't get it. The store itself is okay, though common household goods such as paper towels will be missing for weeks at a time. My simple story is one of many. It's almost funny how often you witness stuff like this here, but seriously, can this place get it together? read more

Walgreens - Classic Washington St Walgreens - they love to keep you on your toes! - Drugstores Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I'm not sure why everyone is negative about the staff here. I've been in this Walgreen's several times and the staff has been nothing but extremely kind. The store is super clean, was always fully stocked, totally covid-safe and the manager was even walking around asking if we needed help finding anything! The store is HUGE and even has a huge vault in it! It's pretty amazing! read more

Why can't they manage their supply chain better? Things disappear for weeks. Basic things like lunch meats, cleaning supplies, hair gel. cream cheese, randomly missing condiments... there are often big bags for no apparent reason .... they are better about not leaving restocking bins in the middle of aisles ..... (ps This is everyday not just during covid19) read more

I had an extremely hard time finding a pharmacy with my medication in stock. I called 9 Walgreens and 2 Stop and Shops and 3 price choppers before I called this pharmacy and they had it! I spoke with Danthi who was so kind and helpful. She expedited my medication because I was late to a doctors office (to receive the injection I was picking up) and was able to pick up my medication so fast. Thank you Danthi! read more

The pharmacist at Walgreens in South Boston are so rude and especially rude to senior citizens. Try to talk over me and would not even listen to me. I will report her ass all over Walgreens website as well. But they should not be treating South Boston, citizens, specifically seniors The way they are. Have some respect! read more

This is the worst pharmacy in the world. The manager is incompetent and blames others! They are lacking in their ability to control patrons. The pharmacy is always very slow and have no clear markings for a line to pickup your scripts. Change your pharmacy!!!! read more

I really did not think this pharmacy could stoop any lower, but it has truly gone to the dogs in the last few weeks. Over the last two weeks, they have been randomly closed for an entire day without notice with my prescriptions filled but locked inside on multiple instances. Twice, the prescriptions were for controlled substances, which cannot be transferred, and I had go to without medication while waiting for whenever they deigned to reopen. Yesterday, I asked point-blank if they would be closed tomorrow, as I truly need my medications and was told that unequivocally they will be open. Today, once again, they are closed with my meds inside and am left with limited recourse. Thankfully my doctor was able to send my things to a different pharmacy today, but this has become the pattern with this store. I understand that the pharmacy workers are doing all they can and are likely short staffed, but this store has shown that it cannot perform basic pharmacy functions. Thanks to this pharmacy, I have had to go without essential mediation for multiple days in a row this month. This needs to fixed, ASAP read more

Walgreens - Of course... Why would they be open at 10 AM? - Drugstores Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Trying to get status of prescription - called middle of the day. Been on hold for 40 minutes. I dont understand how this is okay.

Why are all Walgreens stores so ghetto? It doesn't matter which neighborhood they are in, they are always kinda dirty and have the razors under lock and key as if some really hairy homeless guy is going to come in and steal them. This Walgreens fits the mold. It is poorly organized, totally cluttered and pretty dirty. Oh, and we saw a roach. Checking out was super weird though. Cashier: "Want a Snickers?" Me: "Excuse me?" Cashier: "Do you want a Snickers?" Me: "Are they free?" Cashier (with a scowl on her face): "No. 69 cents." Me: "Um, no thanks." Weird. Does she just ask random people if they want random things? Or were the Snickers on sale? I don't get it. Either way. I would rather walk the extra distance to CVS. read more

On rare occasions, this Walgreens has gotten me out of a pinch. Sometimes you need tampons, toothpaste, or a pint of ice cream late at night when nothing else in the area is open. Most of the time though, I leave here empty handed in a state of shock over the fact that they somehow don't have what I came in to buy. I don't mean rare, super-specific, hard to find items. I mean things any self-respecting drug store should have: nail polish remover, lint roller, travel sized toothpaste, eye makeup remover...I could go on. I'm now more shocked when they do have what I want than when they don't. read more

This Walgreens would get four stars because the Pharmacy is pretty awesome- one guy that works there is really nice and helpful. My insurance company used to bite the big one (stupid Chickering from Northeastern U.) and he was always great with helping me navigate the highly annoying world of insurnace. Unfortunately, the front end of the store is almos as annoying as dealing with an insurance company. There is almost always a line because of the idiots that can't figure out how to check out! Why is it that old ladies can't get their asses in gear after they made a purchase. Move over! You can put your purse back together after you get out of my way! And they never have enough people working the front counter. They have four registers there, but I've never seen more than one open. Walgreens will do in a pinch, if you need some soda or a missing ingredient that they might carry. And, the first aisle alawys has some weird ass crap for cheap. Fun to look through while you are waiting for a prescription to be filled. read more

The shelves at this location are always empty, lines are huge, and the pharmacy staff is rude and incompetent. I live a block away so it's convenient for me to go here, but I'm bringing my prescriptions to CVS going forward. read more

Speed rating: 1 star. Neighborhood comedy: 4 stars. In my most recent visit, I heard both of these utterances: * ("Big Breezy," the photolab guy, to customer): "I come to work to chill, not to get sh*t for customers!" (would be appalling, except he clearly knew the customer.) * Guy in the skincare aisle, doing a little meringue, humming and stage-whispering, "Passion. Passsssion. Passion." What can I say, it's around the corner, and my prescriptions are never late. read more

if there was less than 1 star, I would have clicked on that EVERY TIME I think, "It can't be that bad, I'll just run in to get ___" Walgreens lowers the bar even further! This is why I will walk all the way to Tremont St to go to CVS before sinking another cent into Walgreens!! read more

1 Star for the retail side; 4 Stars for the pharmacy. One night I was running so late at work that I didn't have time to get to the pharmacy before they closed. I got there at 10:05; they had closed the shutters. I NEEDED that prescription, and yes, it was my bad I was late. Not only did the manager take pity on my plight (my prescription was NOT a narcotic) and call another store to get my script transferred, he gave me his cell phone number and I got the prescription. read more

What is wrong with this Walgreens? From the cashier that examines every item I'm purchasing as if it's the first time he's ever laid eyes on what i'm buying to the fact that they literally only get one of the items for sale in their flyer that week, i'm constantly disappointed in this place. How can you advertise you have AA batteries for $5.00 and then only stock 2 packages of them?!? I'm always amazed at what this place does/doesn't have. "Yes, we have that Xbox game from 2004 that used to be $80, but no, we're completely out of cat food and crackers." The bizarre pop music and people watching makes this place worthwhile. And even though they're supposed to ask you if you want the item of the week or you get it free, I never risk challenging them on this when they don't ask as I value my life. read more

I can't stand this location. They close whenever they want to. I've seen them close in the middle of the day before. I went there to pick up an item before their 9 pm closing time, and at 8:50, the door was locked and the manager refused to let me in. (I held up my phone to show her what time it was, but obviously she knew and didn't care.) If you're operating a business, you should have some obligation to be predictable and adhere to posted hours of operation. The closing time in the window should be when the door is locked, not when the employees want to leave. They also have serious restocking issues. The experience at the register is hit or miss. I wouldn't say they are terrible, but I have had some long waits from time to time even though I never go in there for more than a couple of items. read more

I've been to my share of drugstores and this one by far has been the worst! There is not one friendly worker there and no one seems to want to help you out. They also have a lack of good cards too! You can never find one here and I always have to walk over to CVS and they by far have a wonderful selection. If you are only running in and out, you're good but if you don't know where to find things, good luck here! read more

I waited 45 minutes for a z-pack prescription that my doctor submitted about 12 hours earlier. They could not find my prescription at first and then told me I would have to wait until the next day to pick it up. This is a prepackaged product. They could have printed out a label and handed me the box. This place is completely mismanaged. read more

Worst pharmacy ever. Everything is inaccurate and there is no way to speak with anyone. They leave you on hold and then hang up after you're waiting for 30 minutes. read more

I'd give them a 0 if I could. Think twice about filling prescriptions here - the pharmacy will close unexpectedly & you'll have no way to get your medication. And good luck getting through on the phone - be prepared to wait on hold for a ridiculous amount of time before you are mysteriously disconnected when you get to the top of the queue. read more

The pharmacy here genuinely has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Constantly closing unexpectedly, incorrect prescription quantity, poor communication if prescription is delayed or out of stock, wait times 40 minutes+, nearly impossible to reach via phone read more

RUN in the other direction! Filthy, disorganized, unsavory, and with window displays that look like they were cast-offs from North Korea. From beginning to end this place is disappointing and disconcerting. I've seen fights, stealing, and whereas they have copious amounts of useless garbage like plastic roses, stinking scented candles, Chinese stuffed animals, and pork rinds, they can go days without restocking their shelves with printer paper, shoe strings, light bulbs and dishwasher detergent. Or more likely it's sitting in the plastic shipping containers that eternally line the aisles but never seem to be unloaded. I gave the pharmacy a try one day, it was just after six PM and they told me it wold not be ready until the next morning. Having a morning flight I walked to CVS where it was ready in less than ten minutes. There are some decent and kind employees here but management has them so robotized with canned persuasion selling lines like " would you like to buy a chocolate bar for our troops," or "would you like to buy a Snickers bar tor 69c?" that it's difficult to feel any human connection. This location of Walgreens feels like the love child of 1970s South Bronx ghetto and a shop in Soviet era Siberia. It's as if regional management has decided the neighborhood doesn't merit any effort. read more

I read all the reviews posted here...HAD to see if it was really that bad AND I needed something only Walgreen's carries ---pricey mouthwash my dentists highly recommends. This store had the expensive mouthwash -it was on sale so $4 off with my Walgreen's card. Clerk was friendly and helpful... mentioning the candy bar of the day briefly....store was fine in all respects. I wonder if you'd care to wipe the slate clean and try it again! read more

The pharmacy at this Walgreens as of September 2021 is completely overwhelmed, lines at the pharmacy can go on for over an hour at a time, pharmacists intentionally hang up on callers, and they openly tell customers that they are understaffed. They also apparently have a broken register. This Walgreens is a block from my house, but I am now traveling 7-8 blocks to CVS to avoid this cluster**** read more

This location has basically everything you may need in a pinch. Whether you are looking for flour/eggs/sugar while baking or a decadent ice cream after a long day, they have it all. The pharmacy hours are super convenient and their Walgreens app is pretty sweet. They even have a texting program where they will text you to ask if you would like a refill. It's a typical city store, where they have the usual theft-deterrents like locked cases and annoying plastic tiles you have to move one by one. I don't call that "ghetto," just realistic. Lines can be kinda ridiculous though and I hate it when they bring out all of their back stock while they are still open to fill in the floors. They always seem to block what I need. read more

Is it the world's best Walgreens? No. It's kind of cluttered, weirdly set up, and generally tough to maneuver in. But, it does have things. And it's not the most terrible place to shop in the South End. So a second star is deserved. But don't go out of the way for it. read more

I come here to grab quick random snack before going in for work since it's the closest convenience store. Aside from having a few imported sweets that are hard to find elsewhere (Violet Crumble, Mars Bars, Kinder Happy Hippo come to mind), this place is pretty meh in terms of stock and variety as the snacks seem to be depleted (or near) whenever I go in. Customer service is also similarly average (hit or miss depending on the time, place, person etc.). Have yet to meet this lady who sells Snickers for 69 cents sadly (maybe she's gone or I never get the sweet spot in terms of timing, lemme know heh) but otherwise, it's generally serviceable for a quick snack or drink. Don't expect too much, but this place is alright for the most part. read more

As people local to the area will know, this part of Washington Street gets a lot of foot traffic from methadone mile, and given its location, this Walgreen's is impacted by that. So for those looking for a high-end retail experience, you aren't going to find it here simply for that reason. Also, as a result of the location, the things that the employees have to deal with on a daily basis are highly unpleasant (at best) and regularly dangerous. There is rampant theft, intoxicated customers, etc. with no security presence to speak of, which is the fault of Walgreen's management, not the employees. With all of that said, I think given the hand they are dealt, the employees do a very good job. Jenny, Destiny and others are always helpful and knowledgeable and I'd say that on balance, the ability of the folks here to maintain a good attitude in the face of the crap they have to deal with every day is admirable. I understand the poor reviews here and many of the issues raised are probably valid - but the bulk of those issues are attributable to the location and the customer base - not the employees read more

This store is full of drama, never enough cashiers and the sales items are always out. Because I know this EVERY TIME I visit, how can I be upset? I'm such a frequent visitor, I mean it's the one closest to my home, I'm always treated respectfully so I can't ask for anything more. I'll see you tomorrow. read more

This is the most poorly managed pharmacy I have ever been in. The staff is friendly but there are never enough cashiers to deal with the lines. During certain times of the day you can be in line for anywhere from 20-25 minutes. The worst part is the cashiers will call for help over the intercom and get no assistance from the manager taking to the loss prevention staff. read more

This has GOT to be the most sketchtastic drugstore ever. The store is always a mess, they are always reshelving and it's impossible to get through the aisles, and there's always a long line to check out because the cashiers for the most part are slow and frequently need price checks. Recently my colleague was in there and someone was blatantly stealing (deodorant, of all things) off the shelf and she told someone working there who responded with a shrug. This Walgreens is a great place to go if you want to see the South End in action (yuppie med students meet moms who are high with a bunch of little kids running around), but that's the only real reason to go there. read more

real nice store great for your money and Iike their rewards programs pretty competitive area for soap and toiletries 2F

I only go here because they have my Rx insurance info stored in their computer system and I lost my card a while back. That and the fact that it's about a block away from my apartment. The main reason this place gets more than ZERO stars from me is because I've got to give props to the pharmacy staff...Anyone who comes to work day after day after dealing with the sketchy, nutso customers screaming about how they were shorted one Xanax or Vicodin is okay in my book...That's what I call some serious dedication to one's job. Outside of the pharmacy, the rest of the store is a disaster. They never have anything in stock, despite the fact that almost every day the sidewalk outside the store is completely blocked off by a Walgreens truck using a conveyer belt (??) to get the new inventory stock into the door. Oh, and don't let the security guard in there give you any false sense of security...I've seen, on multiple occasions, people grab something, set off the alarm and take off down the street while the security guard doesn't even flinch. read more
