You know how there is always that sad little dog at the animal shelter that despite all his charm, can't get anyone to look at him, much less adopt him? He paws at the cage...maybe he snaps at you because the previous owners were jerks to him and he doesn't know a good person. Maybe he's just waiting for the right owner, while "Fifi" the poodle and "Champ" the Lab mix get love....no love for "Ol' Scrappy" there. That's my poor City Place Target.
This place has "character". I affectionately call it "Salsa Target"...not because of the people that shop there, but because its a mix of everything and is good enough for the rich little SMU girl pulling up in her BMW who's never worked a day in her life to the day laborer, pulling into the parking lot in his beat up truck who's barely making ends meet.
The customer service of this place could use a little work...but just like "Ol Scrappy" these employees have been treated poorly by customers (was that you?) have a manager giving them shit for being 3 minutes late from lunch or have to work 10-12 hour days in a store where parents don't mind their kids, people treat you like dirt...and for what...1-2 dollars above minimum wage?
The beauty of Salsa Target is...no matter what...its there for you. Always inviting...always with the pack of gum you need for that date, that pain medication for your headache...that 6 pack of soda for your office.
The parking lot is HUGE so finding a parking place isn't hard (except during X-mas). During the day, because of the businesses close by, its a mix of rich and poor....white, black, hispanic. During the evening, more of the local neighborhood comes out to shop and play.
Great prices...great selection (picked up a Wii and iPad 2 there when they first came out). The best thing is Target is really stepping it up when making all their stores the same..and this store is just about as uniform to all other Targets as any other.
As a former resident in the neighborhood, all I can say is no matter how rich or poor you are...we all need the same essentials...and its nice to have a neighborhood store like Target in the area for those quick trips during the week...or the stocking up during the weekend. Open 8am-10pm during the week and until 9pm on Sundays, you're hard pressed to find a better place to shop in the area. That is unless you're ok with wasting gas to go to the "burbs" for the illusion of safety.
Yup...Ol Scrappy there...not the prettiest...but someone loves him...and that someone is me. read more
