If you want to know why The Container Store is struggling, look no further than their terrible order processing and customer service practices. Placed an order on 5/11 for pickup on 5/20. Two items in the order shipping to the store for pickup. Pickup date comes and the items shipping to the store have not shipped out yet. One ships to the store on 5/22. It's 5/27 now and the final item has not shipped to the store yet. Complained to corporate and all they do is redirect me to the pickup store. It's an online order. Shipping from a corporate warehouse is a corporate problem, not a store problem. I would give them zero stars if that was an option. read more

Thins are way more expensive than they should be but sometimes they have stuff worth the extra mark-up. Example : $200 for a two drawer file cabinet ... a file cabinet is a file cabinet - you can get one at office max for 1/2 that. However I did find some wooden hangers that make my life easier . read more

Last month I was working in Dallas for a client moving to her new home. I was in town for a limited time, and wanted to be as efficient with my limited time as possible. I tried to get to the container store for some last few bins with time to spare, but traffic said otherwise. I stood outside the doors of the store that must have been locked just a minute before I arrived. I was wallowing in the fact that I was going to have to come back first thing in the morning and be a bit late to finish my last day of work. Oscar (I read his name badge) came to the door, unlocked it and asked if I knew what I needed. I did. He let me in and saved my day! Thanks for being so customer centered. Anything organization, or container related, this is the perfect place to go. Price wise, I would say this isn't the most budget friendly place but it does have the variety and diversity you need for all your storage accommodations. As soon as I walked in , I received help and that is what was automatically appealing in my eyes. Staff was courteous and assisted me with the items I was looking for. Clean and well kept store, makes it a super chill and peaceful place to shop. They have sections for the office, bathroom, car , home, and etc. read more

I'm very displeased with the event that just occurred, and the rest of the hard-working staff doesn't deserve a one-star review. Let me start by saying I love love love container store, every place I've ever lived I had them do my closets, they also have done my restaurants, etc., etc. But today, while shopping there for the second time today and getting helped by the fantastic staff and Sam. It's was a few minutes after 8 pm. Sam was helping me find one last item knowing that it was 8 pm because we had just discussed it and were rushing. I literally had the item in hand, here comes Hilary letting me know that they are closed and it's time to check out. I completely understand that, but my frustration was... 1) You just announced it over the intercom. 2) I'm with a staff member who is helping me. 3) You didn't give me or staff member a real chance because it was maybe 8:02 or 3. 4) In my opinion, Hilary was not pleasant at all. I felt it was rude!!! But she quickly changed her approach when she saw I was upset and followed me try make conversation asking me where I got my shoes. I truly disappointed, I've never felt that uncomfortable before in my life. I'm still beyond frustrated/ hurt! Container store is like my second home. Also, 5) It's strange there were other nationalities in there but I didn't see her go up to them. Could it have been because I'm black? I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt on that one. One last thing when I was in the store earlier shopping the first time ran into the GM very nice lady a manager ready to serve her customers and help in any way. I'm assuming she wasn't there because I asked for her after the incident. To me it crazy how one manage leaves and another comes in and the environment was completely different. I had to go search for someone to help me but luckily I saw Sam who is by the way Awesome!!!! and he helped. Then the rudeness at the end. Last thing if you want every one out the store by eight possibly try letting people know 30 minutes before, then 15 minutes, 10 minutes etc. Not one announced then go kick everyone out. read more

I recently moved to a new place and trying to organize all my cabinets and make some space. I did some research online before I went into the store and had an idea of what I was looking for. Once I got to the store I didn't locate the shelving and asked an associate. She was so hopeful. She took me to the area, measured everything and helped me get all the correct pieces. I got in line to check out but the line was growing long. Immediately other associates noticed and jumped on registers. The man that checked me out was super friendly. He even told me about getting an extra 15% off. I got in and out really quickly even during this crazy holiday season. read more

From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out, we encountered the most courteous people that I've ever encountered outside of waitstaff trying to earn a tip. When we walked in we were told what the specials were and what we could do to save money by signing up with our emails. Each associate after the initial one called me by my name or from where we were from jokingly, since we weren't from the Dallas area. I had a very big box which another associate came and took to the front counter for me twice so that I didn't have to try and keep it balanced on the buggy. Once I was finished checking out, yet a totally different associate came and offered to load the car after he had me to pull it to the front door. I left feeling all kinds of special! I have spent a lot of money in this store. Like a whole lot - thousands and thousands of dollars. Tonight I needed a couple of small pieces to solve a problem. The floor person was trying to help but didn't know what I was talking about. She went to get help. A person came back with her who was knowledgeable but very rude twice in a one minute conversation. Talked to me like I was a child. My most recent previous visit to this store was less combative but still troubling. Had a different floor employee who didn't know the product either. Either the store is poorly managed or the hiring pool is shrinking. Regardless, the internal facelift of the store is very confusing and your own employees don't know how to find things. read more

Senior management needs to hire a manager that knows how to allocate personnel. You have employees standing around doing nothing while there are 2 check out people with a 21 minute wait. What's worse is the unfriendly rude person standing around the front door running her mouth instead of trying to be customer oriented. Easiest way to show displeasure is stop shopping here. I place my online order and arranged for in store pick up during the COVID 19 restrictions and my mistake I didn't read my email completely. I showed up late for my pick up as I thought this was one of those deals where you could pick your order up after a certain time not so- I was to pick it up at a scheduled time! I sat out in front of the store several minutes (fully reading my email they sent) and 1 of the nice ladies who works for the Container Store noticed me parked outside and opened the door although it was actually 30 minutes AFTER the store had closed! I admitted my mistake and said I'll return tomorrow, nope, she insisted I hang on a moment while she gathered my order. She actually dropped them off in my car for me! BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I cannot believe the level of customer service at this location. Every single employee was so eager to help and so friendly I would want to start every morning by speaking to the people that work at the store. Such a pleasant and helpful experience. I bought two huge soap shelving units and I was in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. They loaded my car before I could even get out of it to help them. read more

I placed an order for pick up with a week lead. One hour before pickup I got a call that my complete order would not be filled. Bummer, so I chose to collect what was ready. After arriving I was floored to find out the curb side pick up was no longer an option and I was directed to call a number that no one answered. So...10 min in line to be moved aside until help arrived from the back. Hope the remaining order is filled. So that I can make another road trip. read more

We recently moved and unfortunately the closet space in our new home isn't the best. I came here looking for some storage options to help improve the closets and was a little disappointed. They have a wonderful selection of permanent closet organizers, but as we are still renting while looking to buy this isn't really a practical option. In regards to more temporary solutions there really weren't many options. A lot of the items also seem to be produced very cheaply despite the high price. A set of plastic organizers for the bathroom was nearly $80. Found comparable items on Amazon for 1/4 of the price. If you own a home, this store is great but not for renters. read more

I had a fantastic experience at the container store! These folks have really taken organization and just taken it to the level of an obscenity and God Bless them for it. We went in to purchase the roll out drawers for the kitchen and some of our closets. We came in with our dimensions all mapped out and started browsing the different options they had. We ended up going with both the Lynk and Elfa brands to make everything work perfectly. The team helped us figure out what shelves will work best for the storage needs and they also helped us map it out on a computer so that we could custom design the space we needed! They were very friendly and didn't try to up sell us on any of the products. Will definitely be going back and utilizing their POP star reward program. read more

Oh, Container Store. I do love ye. The path to happiness is lined with organized shelves, I tell you. I hate knowing I own something but not being able to find it because I'm so disorganized. That really aggravates me. Living in a house with limited closet space means most of your stuff is in some storage bin in the attic most of the year. If you're like this too, the Container Store can help with your frustrations. All ya need is your exact measurements of the space you want to organize and they will help you plan how to maximize every inch you've got. Then, they send you home with 10,000 peices of metal, carefully cut to exact specifications with detailed installation instructions. 1/2 a day and 3 divorce threats later, *poof* you're organized! Another reason I love the Container Store is for their Holiday Wrapping paper and supplies. You can spend an hour in there looking at paper, ribbons and gift bags and coming up with the best theme for under the tree (or menorah, they have Chanukah themed stuff too!) . I usually have a little budget for myself and buy a few new rolls and ribbons. They also have bow making seminars all season where they teach you how to make homemade bows. As if we have the time for that, yeah. :) So, the Gift Wrap Wonderland is expensive, yes, but I love it. I love opening a bottle of champagne and wrapping presents with gorgeous paper and making gorgeous bows for an evening every year. That's what puts me into the Christmas spirit. read more

The Container Store is sometimes a necessary evil when you are trying to add room in certain places in your house. As a new Dallas resident living in an apartment with a grand total of 4 kitchen cabinets and no pantry, I knew this was the first place I would be going. I managed to get an Elfa door organizer for 30% off that I could attach to the back of the door of my laundry door - 2 thumbs up. Looks great, works great, doesn't require mounting hardware so less filler paste required when I move out. So, let's be honest about the container store - just like any specialty store you shop at, you can often times find the same things online (or something very similar). I typically choose to shop at the Container Store when I want to organize something with products that I know are quality. I bought some acrylic makeup organizers from them in middle school. Here I am an engineering and masters degree later with the same ones (that still look brand new). Yes, they were expensive (embarrassingly so at the time), but they are still with me almost 15 years later. Gotta love that. Even in recessions when almost everyone else's quality went down the tubes, the Container Store always has high quality. I value that. Now, for what I don't like about (most) locations. The sales staff can be overly pushy telling you what "you need" - endlessly filling your cart with crap that is usually a minimum of $15 a pop - usually in the $39.99 range. You can get a hundred, oh you need this. Well in order to make that work, don't forget this. Oh and these, you have to have these. One time I went into a location and the girl literally piled my buggy up with $800 worth of storage and travel accessories for a 1 month trip to Europe. I literally got so overwhelmed, I just left. That is no means the first time something like that has happened to me at The Container Store. Yes, I love organization...but I certainly am not interested in paying nearly $1000 in a single shopping trip for it. I will leave that to Monk. I can say, however, that the sales associates at this location were not in any way overly pushy. They asked if I needed help, and when I said no, they let me be. Here is my advice: never EVER go into The Container Store without a serious game plan of EXACTLY what you will be organizing and HOW you anticipate organizing it. What type of organization systems are you looking for? Where do you want it to go? What will be going there? What are your constraints? I personally go on their website before hand and get a good idea of what I want. Luckily, many amazing customers post their own pics of how they use certain products in their homes - those Angels. In all, I can give them 4 stars if AND ONLY IF I know exactly what I am going in there for and stick to my list and leave my window shopping-endorsed spending sprees to North Park, Zappos and Home Depot. read more

As someone who absolutely loves to organize, this is a pretty important place on that stop. I get a great amount of joy out of taking a situation that had been chaotic and stressful, and making it beautiful and serene. And that may sound silly or basic, but I really think clutter stresses you out on an almost subliminal level if you have too much of it. Alas, I had never been to The Container Store, so I was excited to dive in and ge going. I started looking for all manner of bins, buckets, racks, tubs, boxes and the like. And I think I've stumbled upon the great secret of TCS. This is a great place for novices to get started. Everything in one place, laid out where you can see it all, and divided by room in your house that might need storage. If you're new to organizing, this place is your jam. If you're an organizational ninja, you'll find this place to be overpriced. As a ninja, you know what kind of bins you want, and what bins will work for your projects, so you seek them out when they are on sale. We don't pay full price, we go in and find things on sale and buy them then. But it definitely is a great place, for all you organizers and wannabes! read more

I wish I were in the market and had the funds to reorganize absolutely everything I own. I have never heard of a store like this before but was intrigued after a friend posted about it and it was next to Barnes and Noble that I was already going to...seemed like a fantastic time to take a stroll through. I didn't buy anything but think the idea is amazing, organization is something we pretty much all do and this store can handle your organizational needs, big and small. Their prices seemed reasonable for most practical, more everyday items. A lot of their product could be found elsewhere but here it is all in one cute and convenient store. I went to this store yesterday and left frustrated. A "Container Store' this is NOT. The kitchen containers are on one side of an isle and that side is facing the front windows. My guess is that its on its way out the door by the looks of the transformation of the store. I no longer recognize it. I was looking for containers to store marinades and salad dressing and I did not want to go to Target. No luck. I've been coming to this store for over 10 years. Yesterday was my last visit. I have what can only be described as a "shit-ton" of spices and most places (like Target) offer silly spice racks. Either ones that come WITH SPICES (gross! how old are those?) or are clearly meant to be stored on the counter/in the light (a no-no for spice storing) or are designed to accept only one size of spice jar. WTf, spice container makers? Anyway, this place had the best solution! It's a rack that fits against/inside your pantry door AND does not require screwing anything into the door! The only downside is that not all doors are created equal and our pantry door happens to be much taller than usual, so we'll have to find a way to rig the bottom. We can handle that, though, I was just so excited to find this workable solution--plus you can custom build the system yourself--there are about 3 different racks to choose from for sizes. We also managed to pick up some other much-needed new-apartment necessities---shower baskets (which attach to the wall, a very good solution) and other bathroom/kitchen miscellaneous. The set-up here is pretty straightforward and easy, but I was also helped by very friendly staff. Michelle (I'm 90% sure that was her name, I swear I made an effort to notice because she was so awesome) was especially a stand-out--I'm always impressed when someone is not only eager to help out but obviously quite knowledgeable about their products. She helped me build my spice rack and really seemed to go above and beyond the usual customer service you get in retail stores. Thank you! read more

If you're looking to impress someone special with a beautifully gift-wrapped present for Christmas this season, Container Store is the place to shop! Not only that, but even if you walk in with one item in mind to purchase, you will leave with useful nifty stuff that you just need to have! This place is incredible and the staff is SO friendly and helpful! I guess that's why this company had been rated as one of the best places to work in America. Can't go wrong shopping here. They do have a lot of awesome container-like things to choose from to organize a household or office. Only downside is the prices make it hard to get multiple things unless you have the cash for it. My wife and I have to this location on several occasions to update a closet to something in this century and also renovate our antiquated pantry. The staff has always been on top of things to deal with any and all of the myriad of needs and requests that we have had throughout both projects. All of the designs have fit like a glove and when I have had additional parts that I did not need the returns were a breeze with no hassle. What a refreshing change from the normal these days. The Elfa merchandise is now owned by Container store so it is their private label. You might pay a bit more than you would at one of the box hardware stores but the overall quality is far greater. read more

Do not come here at Christmas! No one offered to help me like they used to. Longest wait ever to check out. No snaking (first come first served) system. Seemed like there might be something wrong with some checkout counter systems and/or inexperienced staff. My checkout person was snotty in response to my own impatience. Had to open every tin as if I were a thief (apparently store policy). Sarcastic "and happy holidays to you too!" When I was leaving. Yes, I was unhappy, but I wasn't unkind to her, and I didn't deserve that. BTW, all of this on a weekday mid-day. I dread to think of a Saturday. read more

The staff was very friendly and helpful! It's an excellent location with generous parking. The store is clean and inviting when you enter, however, the inventory was not what it used to be. Perhaps it is unfortunate fallout from the pandemic, but shopping here was not fun anymore. The selection was very dull and extremely limited. I remember this store as having anything and everything the you needed to sort, organize, and create various spaces in the home or the workplace. It seemed as if that is the way that the store was planned, but as you walked around the shelves were bare in spots. One employee even told me to go online. Wow. I've lived in Dallas my whole life, once a big fan of the container store, and have witnessed the downfall of it. The phasing out of the original, thoughtful employees has aided in the regression of the business. Their quality and quantity of products has dwindled as has their customer service. The store itself is neat and well organized. Not one single employee acknowledged me while I was in store, however. There were plenty of them and very few customers so I found this odd. I'll never be back to this location and I doubt I'll be back to any Container store. I'm 41 and I've never had any person in the service industry be as rude to me as the employee at this location on Sunday, July 21 around 3pm. I needed help finding something specific. I walked up to the side of a black female employee who appeared to be helping someone. The person she stopped to help saw me and my friend and he (the other customer) smiled and looked directly at me and said, "Why don't you help them real quick?" I thought that was really kind of him, and not necessary, but friendly. The employee turned and looked directly at us and never acknowledged us. Then she turned her back completely on us and said to him, "Actually, I'm already helping someone," and walked away. He walked with her. I couldn't believe it. I said, "You've got to be kidding?" And she just kept walking away. It was so unbelievable to me that an employee would be that rude. A simple, "I can't help you right now, but will be back in a moment," or "Let me find someone who can help you while I help the other people in front of you," would have been the proper and customer friendly way to handle things. I left all the items I was going to purchase at the front check-out and left the store. I informed a nice older female employee at the front what happened and she said "I'm so sorry that happened to you." But I was so angry about the rudeness that I couldn't bring myself to spend my money there when Michael's might have what I needed. read more

You may not be the type to spend an entire c-note on hanging wall folders, but you can always get ideas here and re-create them from materials at Michalel's or Walmart.
