It's nice to have a target in Capitola but its the smallest target I have ever seen

It's a Target, so I can always find something I need (or want) there. And the escalators for the shopping carts are kind of cool. (It's a two-story Tar-Zhay, in case you didn't know.) But it could be better organized (why not have all the kitchen stuff in one place?), and the check out lines on the 2nd floor are confusing, disorganized, and too few in number. Yes, this Target is smaller then normal Target stores. Who cares? THERE IS A TARGET IN CAPITOLA!! Hooray for that! I love the fact that they have all the essentials I need, and I almost always find something extra to add to my basket. The cashiers are always really friendly. read more

I have been a loyal Target shopper over the years and I was so happy when we were going to get one in our town. However, the customer service and training that the new employees received seems to be insufficient. I was trying to scan items for my baby registry and the scanners did not work. The customer service desk made me feel as if I was doing something wrong, but after the 2nd scanner failed they admitted that several people had complained and that they were looking into why they didn't work. I felt that it was very rude to make an 8 months pregnant woman walk back and forth spending 20 minutes plus being frustrated when they knew there were problems. The next time I was in the store I was trying to buy a crib that was shown in stock online at this store. It was not on display, mind you they have very little displays due to lack of space, but I was informed by an employee that if I had the description the customer service reps could look it up. I had the full description pulled up on the website on my iPhone, so I thought this would be simple. Instead the customer service reps argued with me telling me that if it I didn't have a barcode they could not look it up. With all the computers in the store they have no way of tracking items? I think not! So I went back to the baby department and a very nice employee found a supervisor who knew how to look up the inventory on the scanners that ALL the employees have access to. She walked with me back to the customer service desk and explained to them how to look up items. Due to the small size of the store they house the larger items off site, and were able to get it delivered to the store by the next day. When I returned to pick up the crib the customer service rep was very helpful and she had an employee load it into my car. I am hoping with some time and experience this store will develop into the Target I look forward to going to. Otherwise I may go out of town to get a better experience. read more

Target is legitimately my favorite store of all time, so stoked to have one so close by. I just wanted to write a review because today a very nice and well dressed man really went out of his way to help me and other customers! He took me around the store looking for a sort of odd request for the middle of Fall (picnic baskets!) and really tried to help me find what I was looking for. Pharmacy staff is awesome, very accommodating and helpful. Regular store staff is hit or miss, some are great, others are clueless. Produce section is unreasonably small and store itself pretty much only stocks what's on the shelves because they are not a large store. read more

I frequent this Target occasionally, but today I had an interaction that particularly upset me. I needed to pick up a few household things today around 5:30pm, but a family with about 3 children were hitting one another with pool noodles in the middle of the walkway. the children wouldn't move and i ended up getting hit with a noodle, and the kids got mad that i had somehow interfered. I continued to browse, but it seemed like everywhere i went the children went too, and they continuously nudged me or bumped me out of the way, getting mad that i had been there. I tried brushing their rude behavior off, gathered some things and went in search of body wash. When i asked a female employee where they kept a certain brand (that I had purchased numerous times at that location) she first led me into shampoo, then, became annoyed i requested she show me the right place for body wash. when i couldn't find the brand i wanted, I asked her if she knew if they had it in stock. she said she didn't know, and glanced at the aisle, then said she didn't see it either. i asked her if she could check if they had it in back and she assured me they didn't. didn't get body wash :( then the self checkout wasn't accepting my card. overall a stressful trip with little success read more

I love target, but the staff SUCKS. I had my third interview with them. The FIRST time I showed up for it, the lady wasn't even there and never bothered to call me to reschedule. She eventually called me back apologizing and rescheduled again. I showed up for the SECOND time, and she was nowhere to be found. I asked several employees where to find her, said I had an interview and I even got a "I'm not on the clock, so find someone who is" response. Rude, un-organized, and I don't need a job that bad. Staffs always been friendly to us. This somewhat of a mini target, but has all the little odds and ends one may need. Great for snacks, cleaning supplies and so on. Beware, some items are priced high here. Example, I saw a block of standard plain old cheddar cheese for $15. WTF? Is is gold plated? Were talking about everyday cheddar cheese. But there are also some good deals as expected. The multi level layout is annoying, but it works. Overall, we like the store. read more

There really are only two issues I have with this Target. The first being the hit or miss preparation of the frappuccinos. The people working the Starbucks are nice, but in at least two occasions my drinks were way to watery. Then there's that funky smell at the top of the escalator. read more

This review is actually for the pharmacy at target. Not feeling well, I picked up a few items from their pharmacy aisles and then went to the counter to purchase Claritin that due to state law, you have to buy from the pharmacy. When I asked if she could also ring up the five items I had in my basket, she peered in and said to bring them to the front because they were super busy. There was no one in line behind me and I find it to be incredibly poor customer service to send a customer to another location to ring up items from your very own department, specially when it's clear that customer is not feeling well. I often go to CVS for my pharmacy needs and happened to try here and will not be returning. CVS is always busy but never sends me away when I ask them to ring up extra items. read more

The pharmacy at Target Capitola can't be beat...they are always incredibly prompt and client service oriented. Ilene and her team are fantastic. The only improvement would be to have them be available 24/7, since their 24/7 competitors can't hold a candle to their service. :) read more

This Target is only a couple blocks from where I live but I will NOT be shopping there any more. Tonight I went in to buy a microwave that was on sale. I had called before and was assured it was there. When I arrived, I was told it was out of stock. I proceeded to the check-out to purchase a couple other items. There was a rather long line, and at one register a Target employee was just SITTING down at the register, telling people he was closed. After waiting for self-check out and then paying, I discovered that one of the plastic bottles of soda I had purchased was leaking slightly, and completely flat. I went back to the person sitting at the register, and he sent me upstairs. I waited another 15 minutes to return this (they were out of stock), but my refund amount was less than my purchase amount. The check-out person could not tell me why this was the case, and proceeded to just give me the difference in cash. So I asked to speak to a manager to find out how I would be refunded a smaller amount than I had paid just 15 minutes previously. She said, "oh gosh. There are a lot of managers. You better come back tomorrow." Additionally, this Target CONSTANTLY has empty boxes around the aisles, and several carts with merchandise waiting to be stocked on shelves. It is very difficult to find employees when you need help, and when you do they are often unfriendly. I will travel to Watsonville if I need something from Target, but more than likely I will not be going back to Target at all. read more

This store has terrible customer service. Everywhere I walked, there were groups of employees doing nothing but talking. Not even acknowledging me. When I asked where the pillows were, the woman told me that they were downstairs. I was on a wild goose chase down stairs trying to find the pillows. The "team leads" are even worse than the lower level employees, they act as though they make too much money to help you. One in particular was extremely unpleasant. I believe her name was Sam... It's a smaller target with less selection then the Watsonville store, but I love having a target in town. Prices are low and clearance is great. Some great deals. Some employees are rude some are nice, but that's just people in general. So glad they are here. read more

I was SHOCKED at the first dep't. I visited - the "jewelry" department!? COME ON - you can fine MUCH nicer items at ROSS for less! The quality isn't in the merchandise - prices shocked me on items like batteries etc., didn't see any deals HERE! So many other modern quality product grocery stores across the very street they sit on - WHY would I ever return? To find to boot that they apparently removed the classic unique style Gottschalk elevators made me even MORE determined to not return ~ no emphasis on the quality for a bargain that Gottschalks and even MACYS has tried to offer ~ I can't imagine why I'd shop for lower end products for more money just because they think they have to carry feet remedies as I enter the store - hardly makes me want to buy a dress here suitable to wear to the Shadowbrook! YIKES ~ SALVATION ARMY has better made clothes if you're patient enough to wait for something really nice - can't figure out what they're trying to offer here - everything but the kitchen SINK and NO sense of class. read more

I waited in a long line upstairs which is always the deal so I wasn't bothered. When I was next in line it ended up being only one cashier and the guest was doing some type of long transaction so I waited. Atleast 3 employees behind her were dealing with go backs chatting. The line behind me got very long. The cashier called for back up cashiers. No one showed up. While those other TEAM members were debating on helping the pregnant cashier I started to realized they were short handed on the floor but did NOT want to help the only cashier on the top floor. They were willing to make the 10 of us wait in line while they debated for 5 minutes if they should jump on a register or not. I am not sure why there wasn't any team effort at all of helping an employee when she had a huge line and obviously needed help. I will not be back. This is the second time I have seen this type of horrible customer service at this Target. Later! read more

I was so excited to have the New Target so we didn't have to go to Watsonville. I love the store and the people there are friendly . They are a little low on supplies sometimes but that is to be expected while they figure out what customers like. My issue is with the Starbucks portion. The employees are absolutely wonderful but the person who is in charge is horrible at it. They don't have supplies, it looks bare and the employees have to tell customers they are out of things to make drinks and food items if you have a certain item you like. I don't get it. Its a wonderful company and I know they have forms and such to fill out to keep the supplies in the store so what up.... lazy, over your head, just don't care or what? It cant be that complicated of a job to do and if it is she needs to let someone else do her job. She is obviously not qualified to do it. I think management should let her go and find someone who can do the job. The moral for the employees is low and it shows. I have seen her demoralize the employees and if they ask her to do something she tells them she cant and is busy. yeah right she just stands around or goes off somewhere else. I am not sure what this person is doing as a manager of other people but Target or Starbucks needs to do something about it. I love both stores and hate to see hard working kids be treated like that. Its embarrassing for the stores and the people who do a good honest, hard working job there. Target and Starbucks are both awesome stores and with the right management any job can be fun to go to and stay at. This one person needs to leave so that the employees can love their jobs. I had great expectations for this store, and I'm very disappointed. I'm sure whoever did the layout didn't do much shopping! Narrow, crowded aisles, poor lighting, and a parking garage. I'm sure the parking garage will be appreciated when the rain starts, but it's dark and I wouldn't want to walk out to it alone at night. The "womens" selection is aimed at jr. high/high school ladies, the grocery dept. is expensive, and the carts so big that it's hard to pass in an aisle. I also encountered 2 or 3 employees gathered in some type of meeting in busy places of the store. Probably my biggest complaint is that there is no bottom of the cart where you can put stock-up items like t.p., paper towels, small rugs, long items, large bags of dog food, etc. They all have to go in the basket, which eliminates space enough for groceries. The pet department is laughable with no variety. All in all, a miserable shopping experience that I won't repeat. read more

I went in just before closing on a Sunday night and was treated very rudely by the associate in the electronics department and the cashier near the returns area when I tried to purchase my product . The customer ahead of me knew the cashier and she spent time talking to him rather than paying attention to me and then when I gave her cash she said, "you don't have 72 cents ?". If I had it I would have given it to her, but the tone in her voice was condescending. I have never been treated that way during the day or any other time I had been there. I only went there because Best Buy was closed. I will wait for Best Buy the next time.. This was just last night. Never had this problem in any other Target. Very discouraging. read more

I was inspired to write a review after the excellent customer service I received from cashier Isaac on 5/10/14. Though it was right before close, Isaac was upbeat! When I realized I had a gift card I wanted to use, he put my order through again so I could use it without being anything less than pleasant and patient. He had a welcome attitude after my long day of moving (came to Target for new apartment necessities). What a great employee! read more

Prices are OK and inventory is about average. I'm an infrequent customer to this Capitola location. I must say that NOTHING aggravates me more than getting home and finding one or more items I've purchased never make it into my bag at the checkout. WTF?? CVS has bought Target Pharmacy according to employees yesterday. My uninsured cost for one medication tripled. My cost for the other one doubled. In one month! And they dispense medications made in India. Horsnyder's sells American made drugs at a fair price in my experience. read more

I looked up prices for electric blankets on the internet. Found a Biddleford king size for $71.99. Good price and a brand that my last one lasted about 10 years. Went to the store and at checkout they charged me $89.99. When I pointed out that it was suppose to be on sale, the cashier checked and confirmed that it should have been $71.99 but said he could not correct or reverse the transaction, a supervisor had to do it. Another wait for a supervisor and the supervisor said the price was suppose to be $89.99. Got home, checked it on the internet again and the price was $71.99. Opened the package and it only had one control for one side of the bed. I'm returning the whole damn thing to the store. But, checked on-line and found out that if I ordered it I could get another $10 off and the price would be $61.99. Product might be good, prices might be good but these people have their head up their butt. IF I deal with Target again, it will not be at the Capitola store. read more

I was in this Target location shopping just over a week ago and had to wait almost 20 minutes in line to purchase two items. There was only two check outs open and then self check out, the line there was about 15 people long. So I tried a regular lane hoping for it to be faster. As I glanced over l, there seemed to be two cashiers just standing there laughing and talking. The entire line I was in was starring them down, and not once did they bother to open another check out or have someone else. When I finally got to the checker, I asked where the manager was and why they weren't making those two work, she said they were managers!! So disappointing. She also explained to me that those two specifically never helped when it was busy. It's terrible that the employees get slammed and get no help to clear their lines. I lost the paper which I had the cashier write their names down on but I believe it was Kaycee (red hair) and Davina (dark hair). Target get your "managers" under control. The best part, they were BOTH still standing their laughing when I left. 20 minutes of doing absolutely nothing. I plan to make an official complaint next time I am in. read more

I don't believe it's fair to judge a store within the first few weeks that it opens. obviously there are many things to adjust to as in any business. I found the staff to be well-informed helpful and courteous not to mention generally friendly and approachable. I agree that they need help figuring out which sort of items to stock. in particular their pet section is very small and does not have many cats needs items. The grocery department which they boast about having fresh fruits and vegetables is very poorly stocked and their idea of fresh fruits and vegetables is apples avocados and bananas which is not a very good variety and they should not use that as a selling point to get customers in the door because it's really just disappointing. Also I found that certain items that they sent me coupons in the mail for where not available in the actual store. what is the point of sending me a coupon for the new store opening if I can't use it at the store because it's for products they do not carry?? I give them four stars however because I have had very good Service in the customer service department when I was making some returns and they were very helpful and accepting of my returns and did not make things complicated or difficult. The pharmacy needs some work. they seem to only employ one or two people and if you go anytime between 11 and 2 someone is bound to be on lunch break and nobody is responding because whoever's not on lunch break is in the back doing something. Overall the store is clean, well lit and I can almost always find the items I'm looking for. and they seem to have pretty good target brand items which offer Quality discounted versions of my favorite namebrand health and beauty products. Where do I begin. .yesterday my family (my husband, sister and our 2 year old son) and my self went to Capitola to get a nice get away from San Jose. Really nice day till we went to this target biggest mistake ever. We shopped around for about an hour having no idea we were be watched\harassed. My husband was was looking at ear phones when security came and stood right behind him. We were being STEREOTYPED a few minutes later we were surrounded by target staff..I spotted the manager and talked to her thinking she Would make us feel a little better instead she was not sincere at all! We left our basket full of necessity we were gonna BUY not Steal. We go to the target in San Jose once a week and spend at lease 150 $ a week on diapers, hair supplies ect. However after last nights experience we will no long be shopping at target because of this location and with the 46 profit loss that targets already going thru the company sure could've used our business! read more
