The service is personal, the owners work here and they are not in a rush so slow down and enjoy! The ambiance feels very similar to that of a taqueria in Mexico. Nothing fancy here! The food is absolutely delicious! True, authentic, freshly made, delicious food! Prices are tad on the high side compared to competitors, however this locally owned mom and pop shop can throw down with the food! $50 for two people including meals and non alcoholic drinks, just to give you an idea how much you should plan to spend. Check out my photos! They don't do the food justice honestly! This is our new go to spot when we want truly delicious Mexican food. Do yourself a favor and try it! I am positive you won't regret it!

Came here to try this place out. I am not disappointed with their food. Service was a bit slow for they had a large order but under staff. The location is quite small that can accommodate 25+ guests. Will be back again try it if you're intown.

Rudy sold the place or partnered. He's no longer manning the counter and hanging up phones for call in orders. The place is cleaned up with fresh paint and a little update. The kitchen staff is still the same crew. The menu is the same. The service is faster. The food is sorta the same. The hot sauce is still spicy Buuut there is something missing. Something a little different. The taste of the food and hot sauce is just slightly not the same. The hard taco shell is not the same. Food isn't as salty. But not as yummy as I remember it. My daily go to will bow be reduced to periodic.

I'm not sure that I'd been to this place since the first year I'd lived in town. It was the first taqueria in town so many years ago. I've been walking to work lately and I have been looking for meals that weren't fast food. This is on the way. It was decidedly different since Coronavirus, ordering at the counter, and all. It looked about the same as it had in 2014. Was the food as good? I ordered an Enchilada meal--two beef enchiladas, rice, beans, and a drink--roughly $23. That's a lot. The lady behind the counter brought chips and salsa to the table. Their salsa is still amazing. The chips were fresh. Very quickly, she called for me to pick up my tray. I was surprised how quickly they could put together the enchiladas. Sitting to eat, the enchiladas tasted fresh and the meat was good. The rice and beans tasted just as fresh. The enchilada sauce is likely the best in town, although I haven't tried all of the restaurants. The $23 will keep this an occasional meal, but I should visit in a month or two.

A decent spot to come check out a hole-in-the-wall. I got their carne asada burrito without beans and pork tamale (they only have kind). Took a while to place orders but food comes out fast. And the cashier was super friendly. Definitely a locals spot cuz he seemed to have a bunch of regulars. The salsa has a little kick to it, so that was a plus. The outer layer of the tamale was thick but good. I liked the sauce on top. The burrito was very disappointing. It had a lot of meat but no flavor. The onions and cilantro were more on the ends of the burrito instead of being distributed throughout the burrito. Rice and beans were flavorful. They also have spicy red sauce (that's actually spicy). All in all, $17.29 was a bit hefty for what I got... That too being in Manteca. I'd go back to try another dish, but something from their a la carte menu. Happy Eating! "High on Food. High on Life." IG: @thefoodhigh

Tonight, I ordered two carnitas tostadas a la carte with guacamole and sour cream and two carnitas hard shell tacos. Disappointed that I walked out with no guacamole or sour cream on either of my tostadas. This was a to go order and was already sealed. I had to ask for chips and salsa which I previously have always automatically received them with my order. I was told chips and salsa only came with certain orders.

At the recommendations of a fellow foodie we decided to get out of the heat and enjoy a sit down dinner that is served to us. Called ahead and after several rings I learned that they were open, last "call" is 7:45, dine in available and they have A/C. There is nothing fancy, fusion or hipster about the place. Located in the back of an old shopping center with a neighborhood bar, liquor store and light fixture shop for neighbors, I would've never tried the place if I didn't have a recommendation and yelp reviews for endorsement. First bite and I was reminded of homey Mexican food that tasted like it was made by someone's tia or abuelita. We're not talking fine dining nor is this Mexican food made with adobo sauces or roasted peppers. Their enchilada sauce is more a gravy made with what tasted like tomato sauce, flour, chili powder and broth. The Hubbs loved it! Disclaimer, he also misses the enchirito from Taco Bell. I was jonesing for a tamale so I ordered the combo plate with a tamale and beef enchilada. The Hubbs got a crispy beef taco and cheese enchilada and the babes got a beef & bean burrito. This was the first time in a long time that the Hubbs had an empty plate, the Babes also ate all her rice and beans, which is high praise for my peeps. The folks are friendly, service was fast and they did extra details like provided water glasses and enchilada cheese sauce for the babes instead of salsa. I wouldn't say I loved the food but I definitely liked the homey taste and will definitely be back. The food is more on the mellow side which is obviously catered to the clientele. It was busy and I was the most Mexican person in there as in the only brown customer.

I used to eat here weekly growing up in the 90's. I haven't been back in 20+ years but I tried it again today and it tastes just like I remember! Prices are a bit different though. The gravy and the shredded beef is just like it was back in 1995!

The menudo is different. It's decent but not the same. By reviewing the food reviews people are wondering if the place was sold.

Everything is priced very reasonably, too. Food: Two enchiladas with carne asada: 5/5 -- I prefer the salsa verde, but you can do red or both! Their big plates come with rice and refried beans. Bean dip: 5/5 -- I could come here just for this! Warm refried beans with crema, queso fresco, and salsa verde. Chips & Salsa: 5/5 -- Some of the chips are nice and puffy, which is a fun and different texture as you go through the basket. I always ask for extra salsa to eat with my meal! Service: Our servers have always been friendly and attentive! Ambiance: They play a mix of different Latin music, and they don't blast it through the speakers. She said it will coast extra for slices of limes or lemon. She said that Is their rule...it blew my mind That asked for limes for Mexican Food At charge . That was Greed and lacked any customer Satisfaction for 2 slices of lemon or lime. It is common practice that all Mexican Latino restaurants, taquerias, That serve Mexican food will Not charge for 2 slices of lemon or lime Cmon el Jardin you lost a good customer Over charging for lime slices...unbelievable It's the point of them just being greedy . Also on all Honesty el jardin manteca is priced way over the top for average Mexican food. !

The restaurant is seated to the back of the parking lot with a liquor store to the right. You know, you've found the place with their large grill on the corner of the lot. The Hubbs had stopped in previously after going to the liquor store next-door for an energy drink and had gotten a mini burrito which he felt had homemade flavor and great size to eat while driving to work. When you walk in your hit with a bunch of mini boards and behind that is an open kitchen, where two ladies were doing prep and cooking. We decided to get a sampling of their food and got a chili verde sope, shrimp & al pastor tacos, Quesabirria tacos and a mini carne asada burrito. The food is all made to order and had a fresh homemade taste to it. Surprisingly the mini burrito which I thought would be basic had a great taste and size. The salsa bar has several options and all the items were also very fresh. The food has a homemade quality, they're not skimpy with the toppings, and the price won't break the bank.

Place has a salsa bar and some limited seating. I ordered the carne asada super quesadilla as well as two chicharonnes tacos and a horchata. Was given a tray for chips and two cups for the salsa bar. Salsa bar was pretty good they had a lot of options as well as grilled/pickled veggies. Food came out and the quesadillas were sliced in a narrow way which i liked cuz i can dip in the salsa. Tacos were also good and flavorful. Overall great place for Mexican food. For sure would come back and try their ribs or other meats.

But the recent changes to the Monday/Wednesday happy hour tacos caught me off guard. The deal now requires everyone at the table to buy alcohol, not just one person -- and the tacos themselves have gotten smaller, too. I don't really have a problem with the alcohol policy itself; that's pretty standard for happy hour. What got me was the service. I sat at the bar for nearly 20 minutes and the bartender ignored me the whole time -- no greeting, no heads-up about the new policy, nothing. Had someone just told me, I would've sat in the dining room from the start. No signage, no note on the menu, no acknowledgment at the bar. All around, a disappointing experience. I'll probably still be back -- back to my usual fajita salad -- but good things can't last forever, I guess.
