A great spot right on the water. We came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. Amazing beer selection, just deciding what to drink took us a while! The food was good, but unfortunately I can't remember the details, because during lunch my 92 year old Mom (who is in pretty good shape), became unresponsive and passed out. Here is where the Taps employees earn 5 GOLD STARS! They came to our aid immediately, with ice water and cloths, and were so supportive as we ended up having to call 911 and race to the hospital with Mom. Fortunately, she was fine- it was just a drop in blood pressure causing a syncopy. But I've been meaning to write the review and commend the hostess and staff for being so kind during a very traumatic end to a great lunch! read more

The food is pretty good but I go for the well selected line up of brew. Apparently I have the same taste as the owner because there are always too many desirable taps to choose from. It's on the river downtown and when the glass walls are open it's hard to leave. On a warm day the patio is also a great choice. I'm glad it isn't closer to my house. read more

Is zero stars an option? No? Well I guess I'll give this craptastic restaurant one star just so I can tell my fellow Yelpers what a joke this establishment is. Oh, you want beer? Okay, well they're probably out of the one you want. Food? Mediocre at best. Actually, their hot wings are hot. I guess they did earn the one star you see listed above. Service? So far beyond bad. We arrived at 6:45 on a Saturday as a party of 8, with reservations. We'd finished eating our crappy food and drinking our overpriced beers by 8. We were unable to leave this unpleasant establishment until 9:30 because they made it an incredible challenge to pay them. Not exaggerating here, it literally took over an hour to pay our bill. I had to walk outside on several occasions to avoid making a scene. When we explained to the waitress, in very logical fashion, what she could do to help us, she repetitively explained, "I'm trying to help you, tell me what I can do to help you." Well, you can make it easy for me to pay you. In response, "I'm trying to help you, tell me what I can do to help you." She was a broken and annoying record. We asked to speak to her manager, which turned out to be a mistake. That fool doesn't understand the first thing about food SERVICE. Direct message to him here (I hope you're reading this, you doufus), Do: listen to your customers, ensure that their experience is enjoyable, reprimand your staff when they're rude to the folks paying your salary, and use breath mints; Don't: make it a challenge for your customers to pay your establishment, let your staff treat your customers like garbage. Lastly, and I'll admit this is a parting shot, but I gotta get it in, the hostess. She was aggressive, rude, and condescending. Perhaps this is her first job and the empowerment which comes with being a hostess at a zero star establishment went to her head, but that's not justification to talk to actual adults with the entitled attitude that must've been cool in high school. I could go on about this, but suffice it to say that even though they're only paying her minimum wage, she'll still be able to afford to buy a better personality. ZERO STARS, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, EAT/DRINK OUT OF THE GUTTER BEFORE TRYING TO GIVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT MONEY...I SAY TRYING, BECAUSE THEY'LL MAKE IT NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. ---Update/reply: As expected, the owner of this crappy restaurant replied with accusations and no apology. To him I say, Eric, I am not Travis (you can note my active history on both Yelp and Google). I am a former customer of yours and am now appalled with the business you run. "Please just go away", huh, weird, that's what we wanted to do when we had to literally waste over an hour of our lives to pay the tab. "Now your whole group will review us one by one?" Some of us are active on the internet, and your establishment gets a one star review from all of us, deal with it. You have other negative reviews from people that I don't know...your response is always classic denial combined with empty accusations. We would have loved to leave, but (and I'm sure you can review the footage here), we had to wait for an hour to pay our tab. None of us were ever asked to leave, despite all of our strong desire to do so. Verbally harassing? "Sir", you are either misinformed or grossly over emphatic with your use of the phrase. Any reasonable person will lose their patience when it takes over an hour to pay their bill, but throughout the ordeal Travis (and the rest of our party) remained respectful. No voices were raised, despite your lame attempts to present the situation otherwise. Oh, you asked a question, "Come on kid(s).. Don't you have more important things to be be concerned with?" Guess what, "Eric", I do have more important things to do. However, I'm going to take time out of my day to write an open letter to you (for the sake of your POTENTIAL other customers). When you look back on MY Yelp reviews, you should notice that I've only ever given three negative reviews...and none of them have resulted in an online argument. The bulk of my reviews are positive, and if you read a little deeper you'll find that I generally support small business. The best thing about this restaurant by far is the atmosphere. Located right on the beautiful river with spectacular views. Very casual and friendly vibe, Dog friendly is always a plus! The service is great. Beer list is great. The food is the problem, a little more hit or miss. Some of the dishes are truly excellent, that chicken curry skewer on special was FANTASTIC! Others not so much. The pretzel for example is WAY too small, C'mon guys, I can get a way better pretzel at the ball park! It's just a pretzel, can ya please make it a lil bigger and more fulfilling? There is not much salad options either. I had a House salad with added shrimp, It was tasty and well prepared but again WAY too small, I left Unsatiated which is not a good thing! Again, we need to EAT! I hate when restaurants make entre salads thinking people who eat salads don't care about a bountiful, hearty meal, just make it a lil bigger that's all ya gotta do for crying out loud! The meat in the steak sandwich was great but topping it with processed "Velveeta" style cheese knocked it down a few notches. Anyway, If they can just be a little more consistent with their food I'd give it a 5 star. To the management at Taps. My husband and I have been patronizing your restaurant since before you moved to your current location. Today we stopped in for a beer and a bite. Unfortunately, we had probably the worse server we've ever experienced. I don't know if Heather was just having an "off" day or she's just not interested in working in the service industry. At any rate. It was so bad we opted to skip the bite and left to head across town to Pub Republic instead. Just wanted to share our experience with someone there in management. Great view if you sit out along the water. The huge pieces of pork roasting in the grill smelled so good. Staff was friendly. The crazy fries with cheese were good but could definitely be crisper. The portabella burger was good. Lots of beer choices, almost too many for a novice like me. Grace was our bartender for the first time last night and she was wonderful. My favorite bartenders are the ones that listen to what you feel like drinking and know exactly what to recommend. There are many bartenders like that here (though not allll are this way, I've even felt like the person was just making stuff up on the fly before, but the ones that are, and care about beer and enjoy serving people are what're getting this place 5 stars from me). They're also generally interesting people :) The food is not always five stars but when it is, man it is. Get the specials! All of my favorite foods here have been the specials. Music lately has been on point! (For a while some suburban-reggae type crap was playing and it was keeping me away...) Also, I met my boyfriend here 5 years ago so how could I not give this place 5 stars... we're still together :) My ONLY complaint is that I'm made to feel guilty or annoying when we want to split the check more than two ways even when it's a pretty small amount of stuff. I don't want to have to suddenly become a mathematician when I get the check, especially after a beer or two. With computers before them and an uncrowded restaurant it should not be too much to ask. Went here for a buddy's birthday and was very pleased. Great environment and nice views of the Petaluma river and downtown. The food there was good I got the stage one buffalo wings and they were however a little spicy I also got the garlic fries which where outstanding. The service was great they had good sense of humor and always made sure we had everything we needed. read more

The food and atmosphere is amazing! It's good to see a local business doing so great!!! The new location is beautiful and family friendly with a great view of the river. Heaters keep you warm while sitting outside and everyone is so interactive and welcoming! Sitting inside is more intimate while the outside can be a blast tapping each other in from separate tables playing jenga. Sorry, but upset. I ate here and ordered their Cobb salad. They indicated the salad comes where every ingredient is separate and I have to mix it together and dressing on the side. I asked them to please just mix it together for me...I hate trying to cut up ingredients and mix it on my plate. They said the kitchen does not like to do that. Well, I said I don't either so pls have the kitchen grab a bowl and just toss it. Waitress went away in a huff and then brought the salad the way they do it. That upsets me. It was tough to cut up and toss on a small plate at the table, exactly as I expected. So....poor service and a terrible waitress. read more

I went to this place last night. It was my first time going and we were in a group of about 8 people. Everything was going good until the bill came. We asked her if she could split the bill. This is when the trouble began. Our server became very argumentative and refused to split the bill. I talked to the manager and he was extremely rude and basically told me to do the math and that it would not get split. What kind of server or manager would argue with a customer over a reasonable request? 45 minutes later, we finally got our tab paid. Worst service and management. Will never go here again. read more

Wow is right. All along you loudly asked if we were hard up for $2.50 over and over and ignored us saying it wasn't about that. We thought if we're paying he should have said so and given us the option to keep it. And yes I did order the wrong wine, returned it saying it was my fault and I was happy (and expected) to pay for it. Had you not loudly made out like we're deadbeats after $2.50 (that's the price you said) you would have heard us telling you our point was lack of communication. You greatly exaggerate here to save face. We did call you unprofessional for trying to humiliate us because you didn't want criticism. You did get very aggressive for no reason, from the onset of the conversation. That's a fact. And then tried to blame us that you're busy. All because we wanted to tell you, after we paid, tipped normally and left our table, that if you're gonna charge, keeping it should be an option. No one wanted money. Last night a few friends and I had dinner and we order a pretzel (appetizer), Buffalo cauliflower (appetizer), a Mac Burger (entree), and a beer cheese burger with garlic fries (entree). 20 minutes after ordering we received a few sauces: blue cheese, ranch, and ketchup. About 25-30 minutes later we finally received half of our meal. We received the Mac Burger, and a barbecue burger. Need less to say we were dissatisfied when it took almost an hour to get only half our order and with this still receive the wrong burger. The garlic fries that were supposed to come with the beer cheese burger (but ended up coming with the bbq burger) were cold and were garnished with multiple whole garlic cloves. After another 10 minutes (after both the burgers had been finished) we received the pretzel and the cauliflower. Which were fine. After our meal, we went up to pay with cash and 3 cards. After ten minutes and much confusion they took the $10 we tried to pay with as a tip (on the $55 order) and still let us tip them further. This led to a 35% tip on a horrific dining experience. This place reminds me when wandering in a new town, always check the Yelp first. The place looked nice -- on the river, with an outdoor patio. I found the food to be meh and the service inattentive. My friends seemed to be ok but not wowed. I had the wedge salad which was not a traditional presentation. Lettuce leaves were not a wedge, not iceberg, not chilled, not flavorful at all. There is nothing like biting into a cold wedge with blue cheese and bacon. Oh yum. One of my favorites at a steakhouse. This wasn't that. The "green godess" dressing tasted like Denny's ranch. The saving grace was the pork belly which was delicious, and thankfully the 1/2 avocado meant I did not go hungry. Looking at the pictures, I didn't even get the right salad. We tried the days' special which was a pork bun. It was terrribly greasy. The whole bun had been deep fried and was coated in oil. Fortunately they didn't charge us for it as it was inedible but then they added a drink to the bill that we hadn't ordered. Good thing we noticed before paying the bill. Great place! We took the SMART train to Pet, with our 2 year old. We came upon this place and it was amazing! Fabulous location outside where we could relax and toddler could run around, and the service was AMAZING! very personable and friendly. The drinks and food were priced very well, and the food was amazing! We had the salt/pepper wings, fries, mac and cheese and Cobb salad. Delish. I had an amazing Rose as well. All in all it made our trip to Petaluma a fun-filled family memory. Thank you to all of the friendly staff who helped along the way. We will definitely return! read more

Taps is on a downhill slide big time. The service is mediocre(being cursed at by a waitress for not stating I wanted a seperate tab) and I was completely disappointed in their wing wednesday( go to buffalo wild wings or original buffalo wings). I remember when Taps first opened and changed the game for downtown petaluma with their specials and menu. If you want something other than beer, go somewhere else. read more
