Seems like bubble tea shops have been popping up everywhere and I've heard good things about Tapioca Go. As I walked in, I noticed a resemblance to Kung Fu Tea in the way the front counter and seating area is set up.There are board games and free WiFi to take advantage of. Maybe I'm spoiled with KFT because I was looking for a lychee or pineapple punch but saw they only offer a selection of teas, maybe a few smoothies. There were a few free samples, which is actually different than the other bubble tea shops I've been to. Cool idea especially for those who aren't familiar with bubble tea. I opted for the traditional taro tea which was really good, maybe one of the best I've tried with a strong taste of taro. The only complaint I would have is that the cashier mentioned some kind of rewards program and said he just needs a phone number to enter in but he had me write it down on paper....and I never received a text or email pertaining to the program. One of my two favorite boba shops since moving down to Norfolk. The staff are friendly and helpful when asking questions about which drinks they recommend and what they taste like. Hikaru, one of the cute employees I often see when I visit the shop, has also been great at recommending different drinks to me and making sure I liked them afterwards. I love the volcano too, although I wish they offered it more often. The brown sugar Boba with milk is reminiscent of the brown sugar milk that I've had in Hong Kong. I do like that the owner adds crushed peanuts on top which reminds me of a candy/snack that I used to eat when I was young. The boba texture is on point as well. There has never been a moment where I felt like the Boba wasn't cooked all the way or the boba wasn't overcooked and mushy, which is great! Check-in before you pay, 15% off! So we stopped here on our way home to NC and wanted a bubble tea because, well, we love it. You can't sit inside so no hanging out, just order and go which isn't a problem right now. The menu is super hard to read if you've got terrible vision like us. We got up to the front and ordered 1) strawberry green tea with peach boba 2) Thai tea with 75% sweetness with tapioca. We hopped in the car and sipped our drinks and WOAH my teeth hurt. The strawberry green tea at normal sweetness is like a toothache waiting to happen. I couldn't even drink more of his because it made my face contort from it. The Thai tea even at 75% sweetness was too much. I like sweet, I have a sweet tooth but I don't want my teeth to fall out from the sugar. Sorry KFT, you're going down with this one! The only reason I knocked off a star is because it's millions of light years away from where I live. I wouldn't say their location is a prime location for boba tea but it'll have to do for now (until they decide to start expanding *crossing my fingers*). I think the concept for this place is absolutely adorable being that their theme is Pokemon inspired and they did such a great job at executing their ideas into their little cafe. I came in with my little one mid afternoon on a Tuesday. They weren't busy at all. The lady behind the counter could tell it was my first time. She offered me sample. And what I mean by that is she gave me like 7 samples! And each of them were delicious!! I settled on the toasted oolong milk tea with tapioca. My little one had the strawberry yogurt with little sugar. The offer like 12 different milk teas, 10 different flavor teas, and yogurt drinks. Great tea flavors, many options for toppings (classic boba, yogurt jelly, lychee jelly, custard egg, etc), customizable sweetness/ice level, option for milk foam with certain tea flavors. You can also sample different toppings. I'm a classic milk tea kind of gal. Milk tea + lychee jelly and custard egg was the perfect combo. I don't like overt sweetness, so 75% sweetness was perfect for me. My friend had the classic boba, which she said was perfect chewiness without a plastic texture. I would come back and try Rose milk tea which is another great boba tea flavor. The red bean shake is a trending drink at the moment. Bring your student ID on Tuesdays because you get 15% discount. I have nothing but love for Tapioca Go. With their constant promotionals, daily discounts (military members get a discount EVERY day), cute decor, and awesome boba- I truly believe Tapioca Go holds its own. I also think it is genius that they provide samples for some of their drinks as well. Boba can get pricey so being able to sample some before purchasing is great. That said, TG is definitely worthy competition amidst the staggering rise of Boba Tea establishments in the Hampton Roads area. Just like the newer Boba establishments, sugar and ice levels can be customized. I actually recommend lessening the amount of sugar to at least 75% for drinks like the Black Milk Tea because some of the drinks can be a little too sweet. My number one drink recommendation is the Snow cream Black Tea. Its not a boba drink but it's good. My favorite boba drink however is their Tap tea. Both drinks are absolutely delicious. I also appreciate that they do not serve all their drinks in a regular boba cup with a big straw because that would not be conducive to the drinks with cream/foam on the top. Located near the Sams club in Chesapeake, in the new and improved shopping center, that's bursting with new restaurants. This place is a chill place to to grab boba/bubble/Milk Teas. They have their own menu of intriguing mixed tea flavors and you can customize the sweetness (if you don't like too sweet) or the quantity of ice you want. They have small menu cards that also serves as a punch cards. We ordered the Oreo and Cappuccino Smoothie with boba (so yummmy my FAVORITE, I reccomend) and tried their Rose Milk Tea and Taro Milk Green Tea which were also good too. While you are waiting or sipping on your drinks, they have board games available for you to really relax and chill with friends and family. Not so bad! I really like how they have a good variety of different flavors! My favorite is the Rose Milk tea. I'd say this is my favorite milk tea flavor out of any boba spots in Hampton roads. Thanks tapioca go for introducing me to this flavor! Since it's there soft opening, they were pretty slow. We waited for our drinks for about 10 mins and some. But, they put out a sign to warn the customers that the employees were still in training, which is understandable. The interior is very clean and a little aesthetic. This place is in Chesapeake, which is a yay for me. It is near Sams club, which is my typical go to grocery store. It is in the plaza near Judy's Sichuan.. also one of our family favs! I'm so happy I could make it for the soft opening! Especially the fact that they are doing BOGO son large drinks with topping. I ordered the oolong milk tea the rose and lychee smoothie with mango star jellies and strawberry yogurt with heart jellies as well as the passion fruit yogurt with aloe jellies. A total of just about $10 it was awesome! I realized that the yogurt drinks were super duper sweet. I had to exchange the passion fruit yogurt drink and they happily gave me no problems about doing so. We got the cappuccino Oreo smoothie! Totally happy we did. Bubble tea in Chesapeake? You've piqued my interest. Some friends wanted to go and we tagged along to give this place a shot. The good. For starters, the logo reminded me of the Pokemon - Ghastly. Well, the decor is Pokemon themed so I enjoyed their play on it from the unique wall art to many plush Pokemon on the wall. The place is clean and there are tables and seats to enjoy your drink or just chill as you wait. They offer various samples of what they serve. I believe you could have 3 options to try from. This place seems to be cheaper than Kung Fu Tea, but see below for quality. The bad. We ordered our drinks and when I looked behind the cashier to observe their set up - I saw powder and that made me cringe a bit as there definitely is a difference between a mix and freshly made tea. I ordered a Thai Tea with tapioca balls and asked for half the sugar. I'm afraid to know what full potency sugar to this place is because mine was so sweet! I can only imagine that full sugar can result in some diabetes if one is not too careful. The place could also work on their system to call out drinks once ready. They asked for our names, but it was butchered when they called out who's was ready. If it was a one time thing, it wouldn't be a big deal - but they butchered everyone's name in my group of 10 that made 3 separate orders so maybe calling out numbers is a better way to go. When I saw the newest boba place on yelp I wanted to check it out. I'm glad that we did. This place is so cute! The cheerful staff greeted us when we walked in, costumer service was awesome. The manager was so sweet and attentive and offered so many samples of different flavors. She was able to answer any questions I had and was very patient. They do have samples that you can try when you don't know what to get so don't be shy to ask! The inside is bright, neat, and very cute! It was deliciously tart but also very sweet so I suggest opting for the 50% sweetness. I am so excited to have more boba tea options in Hampton Roads! Let's face it guys, before last year, our only options seemed to be rude customer service from staff at the mall that made drinks from powdered mixes. Now we finally have fresh brewed tea and interesting toppings!! Tapioca Go is a cute concept: the cafe is small, but it has plenty of seating options with a Pokémon theme! They have a wide variety of drinks that you can't really find anywhere else: coffee, rose milk tea, thai tea, red bean .. or you can keep it classic and get one of their various milk teas or fruity green teas! Just check out their unique menu - it's different from pho places, Jelly Ball, and even Kung Fu Tea. Since their soft opening, they have offered 50% off all drinks!! (until 3/29/18) This gave me the opportunity to try a bunch of different drinks. - Black milk tea + Tap milk tea: both were very similar for me. They have that classic taiwanese milk tea taste, except it wasn't very creamy. You definitely get that strong tea flavor without the bitterness. I've gotten both with bubbles but I'm interested to see what it would be like with their coffee jelly! - Mango yogurt: I was expecting a yocult or calpico type of drink when I ordered this, but I didn't find it to be very yogurty! That isn't a bad thing though because I really enjoyed it! It tastes a lot just like a light mango juice. It paired well with lychee and mango jelly. The mango jelly is shaped like stars! So cute and original - Oreo + cappuccino smoothie: This was my least favorite drink out of the bunch. I'm not sure what went wrong with it, but the drink was very foamy and tasted a lot like whipped cream at the bottom of a frappuccino. It wasn't very cold or smoothie/milkshake like. It was just foamy. I'll give them the he benefit of the doubt though due to it being their soft opening, they're still working out the kinks! It didn't taste horrible though! Very much like how a frappuccino tastes, with real oreo chunks in it - the texture was just wrong. Their boba is a little chewy and the consistency could use some work - but again, its a lot better than other options in the area that serve boba completely hard in the middle. Overall, I'm excited to have more options for bubble tea in the area! I went here trying not to compare it to Kung Fu Tea, but having tried some of their different drinks, I would go to one or the other depending on what mood I was in because the menus do differ from one another. Newest boba place in town! I love seeing more boba shops opening up around the area. I visited here during their grand opening week because large drinks are BOGO. This is a cute like shop located in Chesapeake. The place has Pokémon themed decor throughout. So cool! There are several tables and chairs to sit at. They also have tabletop games to play while you sip on your drinks. What really caught my attention here was their wide range of variety. They have various different flavors and toppings that some of the other places around here don't carry. I really wanted to try something different so I ordered a large rose milk tea. The lady at the register offered me a sample of it to make sure I like it, which was super helpful. My boyfriend's drink of choice was a large Thai tea. You can customize the sweetness and ice levels of your drinks. The service was friendly and our drinks were prepared fairly quickly. We both enjoyed our drinks. The boba (tapioca) was chewy, but not too bad. Their drinks at 100% sweetness are extremely sweet, so beware, unless you prefer it that way. We found this place on the long drive from Fredericksburg to OBX. It wasn't too far out of the way for a quick stop. Their menu is great! They asked us to order from the touch screen kiosk if we were paying with a card. I got a black tea with boba - rose flavor that was SO GOOD! He even got one, which is unusual for him - a strawberry green tea with boba. In lieu of lids they had plastic seals with cute monsters printed on them. I brought my own straw. We didn't have to wait too long, despite it being pretty busy. We loved all the One Piece anime art everywhere. I stopped in today for their soft opening and tried my first bubble tea! As far as the location itself, the interior of the location is minimalistic, bright and clean. They had pop music playing over the speakers which made for a warm inviting environment and there were 20-30 people collecting large orders, sipping their teas and enjoying the afternoon. They have complimentary board games and WiFi available to make your stay more enjoyable and the staff seems hard working and friendly. As far as the product itself, I ordered a large "Taro black milk tea" with the yogurt "bobas" added in. The price would have normally been around $4 but I only was charged $2.50 for the soft opening. What I tasted was a refreshing balance of sweet and herbal with tiny little bursts of tart from the bobas. The portion was appropriate for the price and I really enjoyed the tea itself. I probably could have ordered 3 more, but I chose to pace myself! With the crowd starting to roll in after work, I saw the staff keeping up nicely with the demand and owners stepping in to help meet the needs of their customers. Let me just start or by saying I am addicted to bubble tea and have been for most of my life. To add to that, I am extremely picky and most places tend to disappoint except for two places I've been in the area. This is one of them. Their milk tea (specifically the winter melon milk tea with salt cheese foam - I know it sounds weird but TRUST ME) is the bomb dot com. It was so so so so good I finished it so fast. The tapioca was cooked perfectly. They don't put a whole lot of ice cubes which is nice because your tea never gets watered down and weak. Man, I don't have enough good things to say about the tea! The thing that sets them above the other place I love (coughKungFuTeacough) is the cute little details in my cup. There was a "I love bubble tea" stamp sprinkled onto the top of my foam and a little heart shaped stopper so I could shake my tea without it spilling everywhere. Just so cute, and so delicious. The great part about it is they were very attentive and allowed us to try some samples including the toppings if we wanted to try before purchasing. I ordered the Rose Milk Tea with Coffee Jelly, and just an fyi the coffee jelly does change your flavor a bit but because the Rose Milk tea is a bland flavor (but still good) the Coffee Jelly gives it a boost. My daughter and husband ordered the Taro Black Tea with the peach jelly. We played uno while enjoying our milk tea. They have an area where it has other games you can enjoy as well. There were a lot of Pokémon designs on the walls and stuff animals. They also provided us with a stamp card so when you reach 10 stamps you get the next one free. This place is really fun inside with a jungle of pokemon. It's bright and gets a lot of light along with pale colors. They're playing some fun K-pop music too. It's pretty new so I expected for staff to be a little unfamiliar with the menu. The posters say the top drink is lemon tea, but the only lemon anything on the menu is honey lemon green tea. I was able to ask them to switch the base. But my drink is really sweet because of the honey. I opened the top up, since they put lemon slices in there, they weren't squeezed, so the drink is also not that lemon-y. I'm really excited to try something else here though, they have a lot of things on menu I want to try. The staff is really friendly. Half the tables for sitting down at were dirty with water and fatuous sprinkles. For all the pokemon decor, they don't have a poke stop! This is my 2nd visit w/ pics. The first time the drink was pretty weak (Rose Milk Tea) and the service was slow, it was about 1 month into opening so understandably, there were customers taking up space and reading the menu, asking lots of questions and ordering over 5 drinks. Totally understand this happens. What irked me, was with a staff of about 4/5, they didn't open the 2nd register to help the 3 of us waiting in line. BUT to top that off, when they helped the guy before me after opening the register.....they didn't help me. I was still waiting for this 10 drink orders the couple were still making. I digress. I really was in no rush to visit again. Anyway. Second visit was better. The cashier that has been there since my first visit helped me. Very pleasant, I still noticed the drink making process is slow in my opinion. I was able to run down to Judy's to pay and pick up lunch and then get back and still wait a min. I ordered a Matcha Tea for my sister. And for myself Snow Cream w/ Black Tea + bubbles (pictured). So only based on my drink, it was cute! I thought it was a hot drink because it was in a tall cup with a sippy lid but to my pleasant surprise it was a cool drink, not ice cold but cool. They put a little sticky that shows the recommended way of drinking, which I thought was cute. Now the con, they recommend drinking it at a 45 degree angle to get the perfect sip of cream and tea at the same time, I wish the cashier advised me that this is a "no stir, no straw" drink - I would've opted with no bubbles and no toppings. This place is absolutely amazing. Smells so fresh and the staff are so sweet. I've been going here for three years. They have something for everyone. Even if you don't like the tapioca pearls, they have slushes, coffee, tea, anything. Lactose free and non-fat options, you don't have to stress about finding the perfect drink. My bf pointed out that you can tell they used real oreos, and a lot of em which I looove. I also loved the coffee jelly, it went well with the drink. I do wish there was a little less of it. It kinda got overwhelming. In comparison to KFT, they do have a lot of similarities, I mean they both offer boba drinks. TG also lets you customize the sweetness and how much ice you want in your drink. They also offer milk caps, yogurt drinks, and the classic [milk] teas. In contrast, TG offers a variety of different drinks and toppings that KFT doesn't have like rose milk tea, rose green tea, peach boba, & strawberry heart shaped jelly. For right now, I don't want to say I prefer KFT or Tapioca Go just yet bc TG is not fully there in terms of service, pace, etc. I gotta give them credit tho bc they are giving their competition a run for their money. I'd give Tapioca Go another try in the future after they get settled in and get the hang of things. All in all, if you're in the area, come here for your boba fix!! I'd heard about this place from some friends who went to the soft opening, so I had to check it out for myself while back in town for a visit. It looked so cute, and I loved the whole Pokemon theme. So I went on the day after the grand opening with my husband and my sister. The place is pretty small, but it was surprisingly not crowded at all. We were able to find a table while we waited and while we sipped on our drinks for a little bit. Their bubble tea was pretty great. I decided to try out their rose and lychee smoothie with the lychee jelly, and I thought it was great! I definitely will be going back next time I'm visiting to try out more drinks! read more

I found this place just browsing on Yelp. I am really glad I found it because they have quite a variety of teas and flavors to choose from. I can pretty much say I'm addicted to this place. They do offer samples of about 6-7 different teas, which is awesome if you can't decide. The first time I went, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the milk red bean tea and it was delicious. I wish I would've known that it came with red beans on the bottom because I would've opt out of it; regardless, it was still delicious. Second time I went was just the next day!! I tried the lychee green tea with lychee jelly and I fell in love. It's perfect and fresh for a hot summer day. You can count me in as a regular customer.
