I asked for an oolong green tea and at first they had to check if they could do it and they said it would be a little bit of a wait so I said it was fine. Everything we get with boba except lychee, I like to add lychee jellies. Today was the first time that all our drinks were not blended/crushed thoroughly. Located in seafood city.. I'm not a huge boba person, but then again, I realize I've said in about 5 other boba spot reviews. Haha. Anyways.. typical food court style service, you order and it only takes a minute or two for your drinks to be ready. Majority of their drinks are powder based, but they do have some that are made with fresh ingredients. Husband is a fan of their avocado smoothie, which is made with fresh avocados. I've had their taro smoothies, as well as the green tea kit kat.. both are pretty flavorful. With the green tea kit kat, you really get that matcha flavor, but didn't really taste that white chocolate. Ahh well. I had it with boba, and seems like they were a little skimpy with the boba. This review has less to do with this specific location and more to do with the franchise's choice in flavors. There's an assortment of flavors available here, but there are three in my book you have to get absolutely right: Thai Tea, Taro, and Green Tea Matcha. These are absolute staples in my preferred indulgent tea alternatives. I've had all 3, none of which were particularly impressive. Most recently, I ordered the iced Thai Tea with Boba - which tasted primarily like milk and lacked the creamy, herbal, warmth (flavorwise) that Thai Tea possesses. It was overdone with milk. The staff was very accommodating when I asked them to make the Thai Tea flavor stronger. They were kind and handled the situation quickly. The color came out much more orange, alas the flavor still tasted quite watered down, like the powder or syrup being used just lacked a key ingredient. This is not a judgement on the staff's ability to create wonderful drinks, this is about the ingredients or supplies used during the crafting process. Also, if they offered non-dairy alternatives for these flavors, I would have scored differently. Points of redemption go to the caffiene levels in the Thai Tea specifically, despite lack of flavor, it does not lack in function. read more

I have been going to tapioca express since 2004 back when I would go to Clairemont for their drinks. Ever since they opened up their stores here in the south they just have not been up to par and have been getting worse ever since. Here at the Seafood City location my Starwberry Coconut Snowbubble was hot to the touch with not an ounce of ice in it. I understand the boba was hot, but its not so hot it will melt all the ice as soon as its put together. On top of that a week before my wife went to the location by walmart and was served a spoiled drink. Unfortunatly she didnt taste it at the location but thats just unsat. They need to get their business together but I will go to Vanitea or 85 now. read more

If it were possible to give this place zero stars, I would do so in a heartbeat. The staff at this small little TapEx is horrible; there aren't enough workers per shift, so it takes longer than it should to receive your order. Especially if you're planning on getting food. If you don't mind waiting 10+ minutes for a small bag of crispy chicken, then cool, this place will be just fine for you. They have a horrible habit of messing up simple drinks here too. I ordered a CHAI tea snow bubble (and established with the cashier that it wasn't supposed to be thai tea) and a fried calamari ring snack, and they gave me a regular thai tea milk tea AND FORGOT MY CALAMARI. It wasn't busy at the time, so I'm not cutting them any slack. With that being said, I would suggest going to Plaza Blvd. or even making the drive up to Convoy for your TapEx fix. I tend to get the same thing, Almond Milk Tea with boba, Watermelon Juice, or Peach Green Tea with Lychee.
