The newest outpost of Tea Monks is a food court stand at the Westfield Plaza Bonita. There are three other locations of this bubble tea chain in SD County, but this one happens to be the closest which was still a drive of nearly 15 miles. Most of the drinks were offered in three different sizes... 16, 24, and 33 oz. Toppings were $0.75 each which is about par nowadays. Milk Tea, Hot Tea, Flavored Tea, Iced Fruitaro, Fruit Smoothies, Lemonades, Slushies, and a Blended Series were the categories. Five types of Macaron Ice Cream sandwiches were also sold. My choice was a 24 oz Rose Peach Green Tea with regular sweetness, 50% ice, and honey boba pearls added. The blend was very fragrant from the rose component. I seldom see this option with fruit teas at other places. The boba pearls could have been cooked longer to soften them. The processing time to make my drink wasn't very long. There was at least one other boba tea shop within this sprawling mall so there is competition under the same roof. My initial experience with Tea Monks was worth a four star rating. read more

We were missing boba so much, so it was perfect timing to spot this place in the food court! I tried the lavender boba, and my friend had the coco chocolate, it was delicious. My friend wished it had more chocolate, though; for the 'coco choco' haha! But overall, we enjoyed it, and Emilia, who helped us, was super friendly and energetic. I always get excited when a new tea spot opens. This place looked so cute and is set at a good location in the mall. I tried what seems to be one of their more popular drinks, the honey milk tea with boba. Sadly, the drink was disappointing. It didn't have any distinguishable flavor from a regular milk tea, but the drink wasn't good because it was really watery. It tasted like a boba drink when you're towards the end of it and all the ice has melted. It looks like this place is new so I'm hoping the quality will improve. read more

After walking the mall a refreshing boba is perfect! Tea monks is delicious the girls helped me decide and my daughter enjoyed her Tiger Milk Tea and I got a refreshing mango strawberry iced tea. We have gone back just for boba because it's that good! The Horchata one is tasty. The service is great and girls are attentive and suggest drinks and flavors to help you decide since there's a lot of variety. read more

This place sucks!! Came in on Friday afternoon there was no one around, girl took my order and 5 minutes later some lady showed up and made a huge order. Mine you I had already been waiting for my drinks, the employees were just standing around. I tried this Boba spot today since it was at the food court, I ordered a tiger milk tea with oat milk but when I tasted the drink the drink tasted more like water than the actual brown sugar flavor. In addition to that I dont know what they mix in there but their was white particles floating in my drink, maybe it was the creamer or maybe the milk? I gave the drink back and I got a Thai tea, but even the Thai tea has a weird taste to it and im guessing it was from the condensed milk, but my stomach has not been the best ever since. I have experience as a Boba barista, and those drink shouldn't have any wierd after taste or unmixed powders. read more

My favorite boba chain. They have a great variety of drinks from caffeinated, non caffeinated to slushy types. I normally go to their other locations near home but happened to be at plaza Bonita and am so glad they opened a location in Plaza Bonita. Staff was friendly and was giving free samples to try. My favorite drink is Caramel Macchiato blend and it's a must have delicious drink to try out and you won't regret it.
